CR based on SAP BW Query: If Variable is removed, parameter stays

Hello Experts,
we have the following scenario:
- Crystal Reports Report (CRR) on top of a SAP BW Query which uses variables (user input)
In Crystal Reports, the variables are respresented by parameters. In our case, the business users now don´t want any more the variables but fixed selections. So therefore we replaced the variables in the BW Query by fixed selections. But in the CRR the parameters stay. Also if we try to 'update' the database in CR by 'Database' --> check Database (in German: Datenbank --> Datenbank überprüfen), the parameter stays.
Is there a way to get rid of the generated parameter ? Because if not, we would then have to remove the query from the report and add it again - that is nearly completely rebuilding the report.
Many thanks in advance for your help !
Frank

Frank,
I don't know much about the German version of the tool, however we do have a 'Set Datasource Location' option under the 'Database' tab.(i.e Database>>Set Datasource Location or Datenbank>>Set-Datenquelle Standort in German(may be) )....
By using this option user may update the current connection with the new one and thus make the new configuration to take effect.
To follow the exact process do the following:
1.Open the report
2.Click on Database>>Set Datasource Location
3.In the 'Replace With' pane below, connect to the query in the same way that you have connected the original one.
4.Then select the new connection and click on the 'Update' button.
5.This will update the old connection with the new one and thus should reflect the newly made changes in the report.
alles Gute !
Thanks

  • Universe based on SAP BI Query

    Hi,
I have created a universe based on SAP BI Query. In the universe there is a class called Time and has the below dimensions.
    L01 Calendar Day
    L01 Calendar Month
    L01 Calendar Year
I want to create a dimension that will return only the current year (2012) and another dimension that will give the last year(2011)
Please suggest how to create these two dimensions in the universe using the XML tags.
    Thanks,

  • Re: Crystal Report and SAP BW Query with Variable

Crystal Report 2008 V1 SP3 and SAP Integration Kits 3.1 SP3 installed on my client machine.
I can open SAP BW Query in Crystal Report. However, in the Field Explorer >Database Fields, I dont see to be able to expan the Query and see it Key Figure/Characteristic.
I noticed this happen only if we have Variable defined in the Charactics.
If the characteristic has no variable, then I can expand the Query under Database Fields.
    Do you have this problem?

Yes, once I have imported the new SAP Integration Kits XI 3.1 SP3 transports into BW system, I can now expand the it.
I can now see the Variable in Crystal Report.
    Thanks!

  • Multiple Universes (based on SAP BI Query) & single WebI Report

    Hi,
We build OLAP Universes on SAP BI Queries. One of the ways to consume multiple universes in a single WebI report is to "add query" from another universe into the same WebI page / another WebI tab for the report.
Is there a possibility to pick and choose fields from different Universes (based on SAP BI Queries), into a single WebI report ... of course respecting their technical linkage.
    regards,
    Rajesh K Sarin

    Hi Ingo,
We have created multiple subject Area Universes (based on SAP BI Queries). Is there a possibility to select a particular object from one of the Universe and another object from another Universe into the same grid eg. Notification Number from Work Management Universe (SAP BI Query based on Customer Service Data Flow / Multiprovider) and Invoice Number from Invoicing Universe (SAP BI Query based on Invoicing Data Flow / Multiprovider). Common aspects for both of these could be say a Customer Account Number.
As per my understanding, we cannot do this if we have created Universes on SAP BI Queries.
Nearest possible option is to display two tables on the same WebI report - one from Work Mgmt Universe and other from Invoicing Universe.
    Please guide.

  • BO Production deployment of universes based on SAP BW query

    Hi there,
We just set a scenario on a BO development machine, and would like to deploy all these created objects (webi/cr documents, universes based on SAP BW queries... ) to a BO Production machine.
How can this procedure be performed?
As far as I know, import wizard should be used, but what happens with universes that are referring to SAP BW queries? Obviously, universe in BO Production environment should point to the same BW query name, but from SAP BW Production system, not development.
Is import wizard capable of doing this step? If not, what should be done in order to replicate your universes based on BW queries from BO Development to BO Production?
    Thanks and best regards,
    David.

    Hi David,
which version of BOBJ are you using? The LifeCycle Manager (LCM) may be interesting for you. Runs only on Windows and only for BOBJ XI 3.1 though.

  • SAP BW and Crystal Reports XI R2 Parameter list problem??

    Hello Experts,
    I facing a problem.
I have a crystal report based on a BW Query. It has one parameter called Country.
    Eg:
Until now, in BW query country variable has the following values.
    USA
    JAPAN
    GERMANY

    USA
    JAPAN
    INDIA
    GERMANY
    UK
I am trying to edit the list of values for the country variable in crystal reports. It is not getting reflected in SAP BW. I also tried refreshing it several times.
THE VARIABLE IS A HIERARCHY VARIABLE.
    Can any one Please help.!!

You said that you are using version XI R2 SP2 (for BO Enterprise)  - do you have any FixPacks on this codeline? (FP2.x)
Question: If YES to above, have you made use of the equivalent FixPack for Integration Kit?  (known as "Partners Fix Pack 2.x ")
There are a few fixes in this area, I was thinking like:
ADAPT00716808 -  When scheduling a report from SAP Business Information Warehouse (BW) that contains parameters from a hierarchy or a hierarchy node variable, the default values fail to be displayed from InfoView. >>
ADAPT00894127 -  When users enter date parameters in the Calendar dialog box in SAP InfoView, the dates entered fail to appear in the corresponding field.
    Good luck,
    Henry

  • Prompt List of Values in WebI - SAP BI Variable - SAP BI Query -BI Infoset

    Hi,
We have a Multiprovider built on an Infoset. SAP BI Infoset is built using 2 DSOs.
There is a SAP BI Query on top of this Multiprovider.
Multiple-Single Values type Optional Variables are created for some of the Objects of this SAP BI Query.
Universe is created on top of this SAP BI Query, using SAP Integration kit.
WebI is created on top of this Universe.
Prompts are created on some of the Universe Objects, for the WebI report.
We are facing a typical problem.
When a WebI prompt is created on one particular object, (which also has a Multiple Single Value type Optional Variable in SAP BI Query), its List of Values is showing up only first three values in WebI. The SAP BI Variable in BEX Analyzer shows up all the 8 values for the List of Values, for the same object.
The Output WebI report has more values for the object than shown up in the List of Values & this is the problem.
We tried to keep the settings in Info-object, DSO, Infoset, Multiprovider = Values in Master Data (for the List of Values).
Similar objects and similar variables for the same query / webi show all the List of Values.
Any guidance on aspects to be checked would be helpful.
    regards,
    Rajesh K Sarin

    Problem :
If an SAP BI Infoset is used in data modelling, and a restricted key
figure is created in the SAP BI Query; the resultant WebI Object Prompt
for the Info-object, only shows up LOVs which have been used for the
restricted Key Figure. Both the things are not related except for the
fact that some of the values for the same object are used for the
    restricted key figure.
    Details :
We have a Multiprovider built on an SAP BI Infoset.
SAP BI Infoset is built using 2 DSOs.
There is a SAP BI Query on top of this Multiprovider.
There is a restricted key figure in the sap bi query. KeyFigure "Number
of Records" is restricted for 3 of the relevant Info-object "Meter
    Reading Status" values.
Universe is created on top of this SAP BI Query, using SAP Integration
kit. WebI is created on top of this Universe.
Prompt is created on the Universe Object for Meter Reading Status, in
    the WebI report.
List of Values is showing up only the three values in WebI (which were
used in the Restricted Key Figure calculation).
SAP BI Variable in BEX Analyzer for the same Info-object Meter Reading
Status shows up all the 8 values for the List of Values.
The Output WebI report has more values for the object than shown up in
the List of Values & this is the problem.
We have kept the settings in Info-object, DSO, Infoset,
Multiprovider, Query = Values in Master Data (for the List of Values).
When we delete the "Restricted Key Figure" from the SAP BI Query, the
refreshed Universe and Webi have a complete set of List of Values
    applicable.
    Steps for Reconstruction
    1. Create Infoset
    2. Create SAP BI Query on Infoset
    3. Create Restricted Key Figure for Number of Records and few of the
    values for a characteristic info-object "X".
    4. Create BO Universe on SAP BI Query
    5. Create Webi on BO Universe
    6. Create a Prompt on the characteristic info-object "X".
    7. Check List of Values for the characteristic info-object "X" in SAP
    BI Query and WebI.
    8. LOVs in WebI are equal to the values used for restriction in the
    restricted key figure.
    9. Delete the restricted key figure from SAP BI Query.
    10. Refresh Universe
    11. Webi prompt shows all the values for the prompt on "X".

  • SInstance=Param not working for sap bw query based reports (FWM 02020)

Has anyone else tried linking to instances using sInstance=Param from a webi to webi or webi to crystal document?
We have attempted the following using the build hyperlink function in webi.
    1. Select the crystal report.
    2. We have 2 variables, the variables do not have the description coming over from SAP.
    Variables come over as
    !V000001
    !V000003
    3. Select Link to Document instance - Most recent - matching prompt values
    4. Select the values for the prompts with a constant.
    5. Go to the history of the crystal report and look at the selected parameters of the crystal report.
    6. Highlight , copy and paste these into the prompts on the hyperlink
    7. Save and run.
    8.  Receive an error
An error has occurred: The object with ID -1 does not exist in the CMS or you don't have the right to access it (FWM 02020)
We have tried a number of combinations of parameter responses from technical name, description, combination of the two, and so on.  Nothing has worked.
    Anyone else experience this problem?

    Hi Stratos,
We've created 2 new crystal reports based of sap queries.
Report 1, single prompt, no hierarchy.
Result : Can link to specific instance with matching parameters.  Great!
Report 2, single prompt, hierarchy based.
Result: Cannot link to specific instance with matching parameters
    Parameter list for report 2
      [!V000001} : Cost Center/Gr{oup (Multiple)  = {0COSTCENTER XXXXXXXX.BGT3}.{XXXXXXXXX.BGT3 0HIER_NODE} - XXX, XXX & XXX
However when I go into the history and look at the successful instance parameters used, it seems to be picking up an extra parameter ( my guess is node)
    XXX, XXX & XXX; {0COSTCENTER XXXXXXXX.BGT3}.{XXXXXXXXX.BGT3 0HIER_NODE} - XXX, XXX & XXX
We have attempted to use the entire string, the first portion, second portion, and just the technical response.  No luck.
Perhaps this needs to go to a service request?

  • SAP BW QUERY AND BOBJ , QUERY VARIABLES

I have a SAP BW QUERY which Iu2019m trying to get through to BOBJ 4.0 AND CONTINUE TO GET THIS error "getDocumentInformation exception Error WRE 99998.........database error The MDX QUERY SELECT {...} ON CLOUMNS, NON EMPTY UNORDER, DIMESION PROPERTIES ON ROWS from SAP VARIABLES FAILED TO EXECUTE WITH ERROR for characteristic 0FISCYEAR, enter year in specified format(IES10901)
We using BOBJ 4.0 AND IDT TO CREATE connections to query...
In SAP BEX ANALYZER the query runs and returns results without any issues, but in u201CQUERY AS A WEB SERVICEu201D and u201CWEB SERVICEu201D we get THE above error ....
so i removed the variables from the row section and included it in the filter section of query and still i get errors in bobj (This is after going to Transaction RSRT checking the properties TAB and selecting "Use Selection of Structure Elements" and then generating query in SAP BW,
SOME queries you need to assign variable inputs for certain characteristics to restrict specific data ACCORDINGLY...
is there a way to come around this?
are there some docs available that simply describes the method of using a variable input/prompt in a SAP BW QUERY and how to use it in BOBJ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks in Advance

personal experience the variables doesnt work properly from query to bobj, remove any calculations in yoru query and variables, you could only use filters in query.. when you bring them in webi then brring the values to the report then create vraibles in it there.
i keep my query from filtering as well then do everything in webi or xcelsius ..

The Connection to the SAP System is stored in BO XI 3.1
    What's missing ?
    Any Rights/Authorizations are Misseing ?

    Hi
when working with OLAP universes (eg. universes based on SAP BW queries) it is not possible to work as you normally do when you have a universe based on a relational data source. The data madel is the one from the OLAP source (cube) so it is not possible to create your on joins, tables etc. In this case you can only add/modify the objects in the object browser (left panel).
    Regards,
    Stratos
PS: The Data Federator will allo you to create relational universes on an SAP BW source. Still this is a product that must be licensed seperately and currently does not support SAP logon ticket-based SSO.

  • How to print sap bex query varaibles in webi report

    Dear Friends,
I created a webi Report on universe ( Based on SAP BW Bex Query with variables).
its working fine. Now i want to show the selected variable values on the top of my webi report.
How can i access and print my bex query variables on header of my webi report.
We are using BOE 3.1 SP2, SAP BI 7.02.
    Regards
    Malik

    Malik
That is default behavior of BO. The integration mapping from BI to BO will populates like that, COZ you made BI variable on top of Date dimension, which needs From and TO fields.
To display that info, what user has selected on the fly:
    As suggested, use UserResponse() function.
keep in mind, prompt text and userresponse text must be identical. Otherwise, it wont't work.
Eg: prompt Text: Enetr From Date:
Var: =UserResponse(Enter From Date:) -->> Results: (Blank)
Why?? Prompt text Enetr not Enter
    Hope it clears you.
    I'm Back

  • OpenDocument URL for SAP BW query

    Hi,
We have built universe on top of SAP BI query and created the variable for Fiscal Year. When I run any WebI report created from the same Universe it automaticaly pops up the window to pass the parameter for Fiscal Year.
I have created two reports one Parent and other one is child. For the child report I am passing the Fiscal Period value as Period 05 2010. When I click on Parent report link to show child report it shows me the MDX error instead of report. (The report works fine without link)
    Prompt Name: Fiscal Year
    Values: Example Period 04 2010,Period 05 2010, Period 06 2010 etc
    URL is:
    ="<a href='../../opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sPath=[PublicFolder],[MSS],[MSSScorecards]&sDocName=Scorecard&sType=wid&sWindow=Same&sRefresh=Y&lsSFiscal+Year=Period 05 2010'>Click</a>"
Please suggest me if I am missing anything in the URL and let me know how to format the URL for SAP Query based universe.
    Environment:
    BOE XI3.1 (Web Intelligence)
    SAP Integration Kit 3.1
    SAP BI 7.1

    Hi,
the product group is working on extending the functionality of the int.Kit and improving the integration between BOBJ and SAP in general. Stay tuned for future releases.

  • Performance Issue with Webi report uses SAP BI Query as the data source

    Hello.
I have created a Webi ad-hoc report which connects to a SAP BI query through BO OLAP universe.
The layout of Webi is the exactly the same as the BI query.  There are filters in the Webi to restrict the number of data extraction, but even with data result of 5000 rows, it took about 30 seconds.
If I execute the BI query with the same filter restriction, it tooks less than 10 seconds.
It seems that large percentage of time is consumed at the MDX part.
Is there any tuning method that could speed up the process time of MDX?
    Thank you.
    Justine
Edited by: Justine Liu on Mar 18, 2009 6:59 AM

    Hi,
    please take a look here:
    [https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1142664] (Look under related notes)
It includes references to various performance improvements of the MDX interface. From what I saw there it is advisable to upgrade your SAP BI (7.0)  up to at least Support Package 21 (you are currently on SP 15).
This may also be interesting for you: There is a new Fix Pack 1.4 coming out for BOBJ XI 3.1. Combined with the related SAP Enh.Pack (not sure about the version of this one) should also improve WebI performance. This fix pack is not yet officially released though but it should not take look.
I recommend that you try the upgrade to Support Package 21 first.
BTW it is also advisable to take a look in the results of your MDX query (e.g using the MDXTEST transaction). You should make sure that your query is indeed restricted as expected. Sometimes the results you see in SAP native reporting tools (e.g. BEx Analyzer) differ from those returned from the MDX component, depending on the way variables/restrictions where defined in the query designer. It is all about making sure that there is no apples/oranges comparison here.

I'd like to know how to transport the BW query's variable to BO 's webi . today ,I created a sap customer varible in my bw system to get the max calmonth in the active table. The varible in the BW side run's well ,but I use this query to build a new univers ,and created a new webi report base on this univers ,but the question is the webi report can't get the varible's value I wann to know how to transport the bw varible value to BO webi report
    Thanks and regards,
    Peter .zhu

I have changed my variaable in my bw query ,I found if you use SAP default variable it is ok in BO side . So I get a guidline by SAP default variable ,I changed my customer variable in variables edite ,don't use 'ready for input' .And then the variable can be useful in BO side .
