Prompt List of Values in WebI - SAP BI Variable - SAP BI Query -BI Infoset

Hi,
We have a Multiprovider built on an Infoset. SAP BI Infoset is built using 2 DSOs.
There is a SAP BI Query on top of this Multiprovider.
Multiple-Single Values type Optional Variables are created for some of the Objects of this SAP BI Query.
Universe is created on top of this SAP BI Query, using SAP Integration kit.
WebI is created on top of this Universe.
Prompts are created on some of the Universe Objects, for the WebI report.
We are facing a typical problem.
When a WebI prompt is created on one particular object, (which also has a Multiple Single Value type Optional Variable in SAP BI Query), its List of Values is showing up only first three values in WebI. The SAP BI Variable in BEX Analyzer shows up all the 8 values for the List of Values, for the same object.
The Output WebI report has more values for the object than shown up in the List of Values & this is the problem.
We tried to keep the settings in Info-object, DSO, Infoset, Multiprovider = Values in Master Data (for the List of Values).
Similar objects and similar variables for the same query / webi show all the List of Values.
Any guidance on aspects to be checked would be helpful.

Problem :
If an SAP BI Infoset is used in data modelling, and a restricted key
figure is created in the SAP BI Query; the resultant WebI Object Prompt
for the Info-object, only shows up LOVs which have been used for the
restricted Key Figure. Both the things are not related except for the
fact that some of the values for the same object are used for the
restricted key figure.
Details :
We have a Multiprovider built on an SAP BI Infoset.
SAP BI Infoset is built using 2 DSOs.
There is a SAP BI Query on top of this Multiprovider.
There is a restricted key figure in the sap bi query. KeyFigure "Number
of Records" is restricted for 3 of the relevant Info-object "Meter
Reading Status" values.
Universe is created on top of this SAP BI Query, using SAP Integration
kit. WebI is created on top of this Universe.
Prompt is created on the Universe Object for Meter Reading Status, in
the WebI report.
List of Values is showing up only the three values in WebI (which were
used in the Restricted Key Figure calculation).
SAP BI Variable in BEX Analyzer for the same Info-object Meter Reading
Status shows up all the 8 values for the List of Values.
The Output WebI report has more values for the object than shown up in
the List of Values & this is the problem.
We have kept the settings in Info-object, DSO, Infoset,
Multiprovider, Query = Values in Master Data (for the List of Values).
When we delete the "Restricted Key Figure" from the SAP BI Query, the
refreshed Universe and Webi have a complete set of List of Values
applicable.
Steps for Reconstruction
1. Create Infoset
2. Create SAP BI Query on Infoset
3. Create Restricted Key Figure for Number of Records and few of the
values for a characteristic info-object "X".
4. Create BO Universe on SAP BI Query
5. Create Webi on BO Universe
6. Create a Prompt on the characteristic info-object "X".
7. Check List of Values for the characteristic info-object "X" in SAP
BI Query and WebI.
8. LOVs in WebI are equal to the values used for restriction in the
restricted key figure.
9. Delete the restricted key figure from SAP BI Query.
10. Refresh Universe
11. Webi prompt shows all the values for the prompt on "X".

We have a Webi report that has a custom object "Date End" (BW tech name ZDATE_END referencing 0DATE). Users would like to see in the prompt's List of Values predefined date ranges.
In other words, when the report is executed, for that "Date End" prompt, 2 options should appear in the List of Values:
Current
1 Year
whereby-
"Current" has been predefined as any "Date End" in the range (Current Day) to (31.12.9999)

I suspect I need to create a Filter condition on the "Date End" object in the Universe Designer and I have been trying with the different operators and prompt settings, etc but I am not getting it right. The parsing is OK, but the filter is not happening in Webi and the report is bring back all records.
Can anyone please assist with how to create such conditions in the Designer (steps, syntax, etc) ?
We are using SAP BW 7 and Webi XI 3.1 and run on a DB2 database.

Restrict values on web template input variable

Hi WAD and Bex Experts,
I'm trying to reduce the numbers of valid values when I press the match code in the input variable in a web template.
In the same time I would like to increase the maximum numbers of valid values
Any ideas how to do it ? I checked on Bex and WAD but I can't figure out how to do it.
I'm on a Bw 3.5 version.

How can I display the value of the Target Currency variable in my query

We have a query which has a key figure set to prompt for a Target Currency at runtime. Because the user did not want the currency displayed in each cell they used the NODIM function to remove it. They do however want to display the Target Currency in a cell within the report. Using Report Designer, I've tried to set up a Text Box to display this value, however, it is not in the list when looking at Constants, Filters or Variables or trying to display it in a Text box. Has anyone found a way to be able to do this?

Hi and thanks for the reply. I should have stated that because this was a validated query, we'd like to do this without modifying the query and thus having to go through another lengthy validation process. That's why we did not go the route of adding Unit to the query but we may have to. Another thing we can do is use a text variable in the headers that displays the currency. That works but, again, it's a query change whereas finding it in Report Designer will not require a query modification.

-ve values in Webi Report , Run on SAP Bex query

Hi,
I am creating WebI Report on Bex Query. some of the key figures like Net Sales, Gross Margin & Operating Profit are display as -ve values.
as they are +ve values in Bex Query.
Do i need to check any options in Bex query or Universe.
I am using Business Objects XI R2 .

Input List of values in Query panel

Hi ,
Problem statement ::
Develop a page which should have Query panel and table . Query panel should have 2 fields and on the basis of these input values underlined table should display the values.
These 2 fields should be inputListOfValues( Input field with search option on this fields ).
What we are doing :
1. Creating Field1_in_Query_panel_LOV_VO view object with UI hint as Input Text with List of Values.
2. Creating Field2_in_Query_panel_LOV_VO view object with UI hint as Input Text with List of Values.
3. Creating Table_VO with required query , and attaching the view criteria for Field1 and Field2 .
4. IN the Attributes section , we are creating LOVs for Field1 and Field2 with View objects created in step 1 and step2.
5. Normal procedure of dragging and dropping the search criteria option on the page and creating the query with ADF table.
When we are running the page , the Query panel fields are coming in the drop down with no of values restricted to 10.
Pls suggest a way to achieve this functionality mentioned in the problem statement.

Welcome to OTN.
Have you tried setting the range size for the vo (which is used as LOV on your main VO) to -1 and see if it works then?
Note : If your have more values to be displayed in LOV, it is better to use InputListOfValues instead of SOC

Used of Sap text variable with replacement path in Bo designer

Dear experts,
I created a univers based on a SAp BW query. In this query I used a text variable in order to get dynamic header columns.
The text variable is done by using "replacement path" that is the text is derived automatically from the user input triggered by a sap bw variable.
example :
the query contains a restricted key figure which shows net values for a selected year based on variable PYEAR.
The name of this restricted keyfigure is &ZYEAR& where ZYEAR is the text variable with replacement path from the variable PYEAR.
When generated the univers based on this query I get component &YEAR&.
When I use this unvers in WebI my result containts header with &YEAR& althougth I selected for example the year 2006.
According to several how to and white papers on SDN , it seems that text variables with replacement path are supported. So I am disapointed by this result.
Can you give me advise to get a rigth result ?

Hi Rishit,
I am trying to achieve the same as you, but it seems like text variables in restricted key figures do not work. I am using BO XI3.1 SP3 and SAP BW 7.01 SP6.
A work-around for me has been to use the "user response" function in webi to create a webi variable that holds the dynamic text title. If the user inputs Jan 2010, I change the input to a date using the "user response" and "ToDate" functions in the webi variable editor. After changing the input to a date I use the RelativeDate to extract 1 month (e.g. 25 days) from the user input. Then I have both Jan 2010 and Dec 2010 as webi variables to use as headers for my restricted key figures.
The formulas can easily become a little long, but by tweaking the user response string, you should be able to get dynamic headings by using webi functionality. But be aware that you need one webi variable for each dynamic heading if you use this method.

List of Values from SAP BW variable in Web Intelligence

Hi Ingo,
We have SAP BW Query Variables with list of values available in Universe and hence Web Intellligence.
These variables are on InfoObjects like Business Partner, Contract Account...etc. The actual values for these objects are in millions. Whenever we use these filters at WebI, its taking too much time to load all those millions of List of Values.
Can you please guide us how to avoid loading these List of Values and provide a text box for user input.

Hi,
no - this is a feature you can enable on any List of values including those that are being generated based on BI variable. In the Universe - assuming a query with a BI variable - you will have two List of Value definitions per Variable.
open the properties and set both of them to "Delegated Search", save the universe, export it and then you should see the difference.

LIST OF VALUES not Populating in BPS WEB INTERFACE ( LAYOUTS )

I have created a WEB interface for BPS in BI ( version 7.0) . But when i execute this in internet explorer, I do not get the LIST OF VALUES for Material.
When I click on "input help" the system open a new window for "Value selection". When I specify the material code, it gives me blank LIST OF VALUES.
But it is working for other fields like Customer, UOM in the same layout.
Please suggest some solution.

Master data is avaliable for the Material Code. The problem is in Internet Explorer and not in SAP GUI .
If i run Planning folder for the same layou in SAP GUI it is working fine.

List of values is not displayed in web inteligence report

I created a web inteligence report and put into my favourite folder. The report consist of a selectable list of values in a prompt but it does not appear in my favourites folder.
The users with administrator rights that copied this report into their own favourites folder are able to see the list of values in the prompt.
It seemed that the list of values does not display in the prompt when non administrator rights opened this report in their own favourites folder.
Anyone can figure out how to set the access rights so that non administrator can see the list of values when the web inteligence report is opened in their own folder.

How to add a default value in a prompt list?

I have a prompt list that I'm getting from the database, I want to add a deafult value in the top of the list. Ei "ALL", my current list is:
"AMERICAS"
"EMEA"
"ASIA"
I want a list like:
"ALL"
"AMERICAS"
"EMEA"
"ASIA"
This is the code I have:
@Select(Country Region\Regionname)IN @Prompt('Enter the region','A',{'All'}distinct 'Country Region\Regionname',Multi,Constrained)
It is displaying only "All". Does someone know how to merge text with a database list in a promp variable?

ok, lets get back to our problem
since you are in sybase databases i dont know weather there is a DUAL table like oracle or not,
anyway forget about it and follow those steps
1. import the universe to the desginer
2. Right Click any empty space on the Stage to Create a derived table.
3. Give The derived table any Dummy Name lets say "ALL_table"
4. write a small SQL statment in the derived table "Enter SQL Expression"
select 'ALL' from anytable you have in the database.
lets say the countries table itself
SELECT 'ALL' FROM USER.COUNTRIES
validate the SQL and Click ok.
5.you will have a derived table called "ALL_table" with field name "ALL"
6.Drag the Field Name ALL to the Same Class whicn you "Country Name" in.
7.Get back to your "Country Name" Dimension and Double Click it to get its properties, then go to the Properties tab.
8.in the peroperties tab. "Associate List of Values" ,, Click "Edit" Button.
9.you will find your "Country Name" Dimension, click "Combine Queies" icon in the bar, to have another queries union with the first one.
10. you will have another query with "U" beside itm Drag the "ALL" dimension in it, and remove the "Country Name"
so you will have 2 union queries one with the "Country Name" and another on with "ALL"
gooooooood.
11.Click "Save and Close"
12.Check Export with universe and "Automatically Refresh before use"
13.now you can hide the "ALL" dimension we have created before, to make it invisible for the users. (do you have problem hiding this dimension?)
14.export your universe
15.open WebI
16.Create Report on this universe.
17.put the "Country Name" Dimension on the filter and make it prompt,
18.Run the query,
19. tell me what you see?

Default prompt values in webI report???

I am using BO XI 3.1 on BW universe, I have a prompt A in the prompt window which has many Lov's but user will freequently use only three values out of it.
So I want to make those three values to be default for that promp A when ever the report gets refreshed, so that it will be easy for user not to search in the big list for those 3 values.
Any inputs please.

Hi,
You can make some values as default prompt values by webi report.
1) Open the webi report.
2) Edit the query then go to the prompt
3) Go to the prompt properties checked the chekcbox "Set default values" and type the three values and ok.
So next time user refresh the report all three values come in the filter default.They can remove or add more values in the list.but every time all values come in the filter.

WEBI Prompt with preset values

Hello All,
I have a requirement to create a prompt in WEBI which would display like below..
"Dollar Denomination"
This should have a preset of values
"1"
"1000"
"1000000"
When user executes the WEBI, the prompt should allow to select one value from the list of three values.
I tried creating a prompt in query filter using" In List" option, but the default values are not populated. If I click "Set default values" and enter the three, those three values are selected by default.
I want uses to select one of the value from these three values given above.

In Universe, I created a dimension under the section "Key Figures" and named it "Dollar Denomination"
and my formula for that was
@Select(Key Figures\Dollar Denomination) In List @Prompt('Select Unit:','N',{1,1000,1000000},mono,constrained)
It fails with parsing "Parsing Failed: Invalid Definition(UNV0023)
With WEBI:
I created a query filter with "Dollar Denomination" (that was blank dimension in the universe) and selected "Equal to" and selected as "Prompt" -> Clicked on the little question button and selected the following
Prompt properties:
Checked:
Prompt with list of values
Keep last values selected
Check "Set default values"
and keyed in
Ones
Thousands
Millions
I click on "..." button and could see that there is a prompt
"Enter Dollar Denomination" : Ones;Thousands; Millions
and Ones is selected on the right hand side.
But when I deselect it and type Thousands in search conditon, it fails with database error MDX query with member....
Sorry, I could not attach any screenshot with this message, but both failed..
any other suggestions would be appreciated..

Sorting Of List of Values when prompted

Hi ,
I have 6 objects in my universe Designer which were defined using Derived table at universe level , and the objects are arranged in alphabetical manner at universe level.
Now the problem araises to me is that, When I drag a particular object from the 6 and I run them Ad - hoc the data displayed at report level is ascending ( From A - Z it contains both numerical values, and Dimensions)
Now when I use the same object as a Prompt in query panel the list of values it is displaying in random manner,...........
I want to see those values in alphabetical way (from A - Z) at prompt level.............
I am Using Web Intelligence 4.0 ..
Please help me in this
Adding more Explanation to my above Query,
for Instance,
I have a state object from a derived table and the object is sorted at universe level,
when I run the report (Ad - hoc) the data I am getting at Report level is
Alabama,
Chicago,
San Fransisco,
Texas..
Now wen I use the same object as a prompt the list of values are loading as
San Fransisco
Chicago
Texas
Alabama
I want to see these values in the Alphabetically arranged manner ,

You need to update setting for your Universe. Go to Universe Parameters - Parameter TAB and update FORCE_SORTED_LOV to Yes, see screen shot below. This fill FORCE all LOV to be sorted.
If you only want to change sort for the OBJECT then click of EDIT button for the Objects LOV and adjust adjust sort, see screenshot below
