CR XI Pass parameters to stored procedure but don't filter returned result set

I have created a stored procedure that takes a begin date and an end date. The returned resultset is what I want in the report, but CR (as it should) filters the results so that the report shows only those records between the begin and end dates.
In short, I don't want the parameters to be used to filter the data returned from the stored proc. Is that possible?

Huh??? You only return data that has been filtered by the SP to CR but you want all of the records?
Filtering is done Server side with SP's, if CR doesn't get the unfiltered data then you have to change it server side.
So first suggestion is to remove the parameters from the SP, then CR can filter or not later on but could potentially return a lot of data. Applying filtering client side in CRD coudl take a while to do, depending on what is in the report....

  • HELP: Can't Pass Parameters w/Stored Procedure as Data Connection

    I'm working on using an existing employment application in PDF format, and I want the form fields to be prepopulated with the user's specific data.
    I'd like is so that when a user clicks a link (like www.mysite.com/empapp/empapp.pdf?UserID=5), a dynamic PDF document will open up and that user's data will be populated inside of the form fields by using that user's "UserID" variable/parameter that was passed in the querystring.
    I've tried a stored procedure that contains the following select statement:
    SELECT * FROM tblEmpApp WHERE UserID = @UserID
    I've also tried entering this select statement manually into the box instead of using a stored procedure without success. When I try to use the stored procedure, I receive this error:
    Stored procedure "spEmpApp" has non-optional parameters.
    How can I set the PDF doc up to populate the form fields based on that passed parameter in the querystring???
    ******************PLEASE HELP!!!******************

    had this same issue.  following works for me.
    -create a dataconnection to the db with a random query to the table.
    -just clone the dataconnection
         oDConn = xfa.sourceSet.DataConnection.clone(1);
    -change the query attribute to the stored procedure
         oDConn.resolveNode("#command").query.select.value = "exec spEmpApp 'parameter'"
    -open the cloned data connection
         oDconn.open();

  • How to call a stored procedure to search db then return results to jsp page

    Hi,
    Most of what i have said is in the title. Im trying to search a database using a stored procedure that will call the procedure using sql2000 then coming back with the results to the jsp page. all of this is done using JSP web pages. if JAVA example is availabel then let me know.
    I need some examples.. I cant seem to find any code that will help.
    Thanks

    Use CallableStatement. You can set parameters with setXXX and registerOutParameter methods. And to fetch results, you can use getXXX methods of it.

  • Pass values to stored procedure parameters

    I have a stored procedure in MS SQL 2005 that has a datetime parameter.  I want to be able to use the stored procedure but I only want to pass a date value and assume all times for this date.
    When i add the stored procedure to the report it automatically creates the parameters and I don't know how to bypass them.
    Is it possible to create a date type parameter and then pass it to the stored procedure parameter?

    Hi Johua,
    Yes, you can create a date type parameter and pass it to a stored proc that accepts a datetime parameter.
    This will, however, need a container type of a report.
    1) Create a new report and also create a date parameter in this report
    2) Insert the original report as a subreport in, perhaps, the report header/footer section
    3) Create a formula with this piece of code:
         datetime({?Date},time(0,0,0));
    4) Link this formula with the subreport's stored proc parameter

    Iam passing an array of objects from Java to the C
    file. The total size of data that Iam sending is
    around 1GB. I have to load this data into the Shared
    memory after getting it in my C file. Iam working on
    HP-UX (64-bit). Everything works fine for around 400MB
    of data. When I try to send around 500MB of data, the
    disk utilization becomes 100%, so does my memory
    utilization and I get a "Not enough space" when I try
    to access shared memory. I have allocated nearly 2.5GB
    in my SHMMAX variable. Also, I have around 45GB of
    disk free. The JVM heap size is also at 2048MB. Where did you get the 400/500 number from? Is that the size of the file?
    What do you do with the data? Are you doing nothing but copying it byte for byte into shared memory?
    If yes then a simple test is to write a C application that does the same thing. If it has problems then it means you have an environment problem.
    If no then you are probably increasing the size of the data by creating a structure to hold it. How much overhead does that add to the size of the data?

  • How to use stored procedure which returns result set in OBIEE

    Hi,
    I hav one stored procedure (one parameter) which returns a result set. Can we use this stored procedure in OBIEE? If so, how we hav to use.
    I know we hav the Evaluate function but not sure whether I can use for my SP which returns result set. Is there any other way where I can use my SP?
    Pls help me in solving this.
    Thanks

    Hi Radha,
    If you want to cache the results in the Oracle BI Server, you should check that option. When you run a query the Oracle BI Server will get its results from the cache, based on the persistence time you define. If the cache is expired, the Oracle BI Server will go to the database to get the results.
    If you want to use caching, you should enable caching in the nqsconfig.ini file.
    Cheers,

    I would like to freeze saving to icloud and perhaps transfer some of that data to my own external hard drive.  I don't want to lose anything already stored there, but don't want to purchase anymore cloud space.  How do i accomplish this?

    It seems that saving to iCloud is a default.  My Pages documents automatically save there unless I change to save to destination.  I probably just need help in setting up the cloud.  When I tried to change the setting, though, it told me that if I made the change, all data on icloud would be eliminated and i don't want that.  I would ideally like to save everything on my external HD and not bother with iCloud.  Certainly don't want to buy more storage space.  Thanks for replying so promptly.

  • Advice Please: Adding Few Static Values to Stored Proc Returned Result Set

    Hello -
    The Stored Proc below returns about 1000 rows of result set when a date is passed to the query. In addition to that, there are about 5 rows of data (which is in my excel file) needs to be added to the result set. What is the best possible way?
    What I have done is I created a new table which has that 5 static rows. It has just the addresses and amount and customer number. There is no invoice date in that table. I tried UNION and the query did not like the fact that I had something like that in
    the first table:
    SELECT
    '0' as 'TYPE'
    ,'TBCCA' as 'Acc ID'
    ,'12882' as 'BEID'
    , '' as ' # OF UNITS'
    , Circuit_Total as 'AMT'
    ,'D' as 'D or C'
    , '' as ' FDOC yyyymmdd'
    , '' as ' LDOC yyyymmdd'
    , Address as 'Brief Comment'
    , city as 'Tax City'
    , State as 'Tax State'
    , Zip_Code as 'Tax Zip Code'
    , INV_DATE as 'Invoice Date'
    FROM [dbo].[TBC_MonthlyCircuitDetail]
    WHERE INV_DATE = '2014-07-01'
    AND [Circuit_Total] >0
    UNION
    SELECT 0
    '0' as 'TYPE' --DID NOT LIKE THIS <<
    ,'TBCCA' as 'Acc ID'
    ,'12882' as 'BEID'
    , '' as ' # OF UNITS'
    , Circuit_Total as 'AMT'

    , '' INV_DATE as 'Invoice Date'
    FROM [dbo].[TBC_MonthlyCircuitDetailStaticValues]
    WHERE INV_DATE = '2014-07-01'
    AND [Circuit_Total] >0
    Stored Proc below:
    SET ANSI_NULLS ON
    GO
    SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
    GO
    CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[SP_TBC_ORBIT Process Form]
    -- Add the parameters for the stored procedure here
    @INVOICE_DATE varchar(20)
    AS
    BEGIN
    -- SET NOCOUNT ON added to prevent extra result sets from
    -- interfering with SELECT statements.
    SET NOCOUNT ON;
    -- Insert statements for procedure here
    SELECT

    FROM [dbo].[TBC_MonthlyCircuitDetail]
    WHERE INV_DATE IN (@INVOICE_DATE)
    AND [Circuit_Total] >0
    END
    GO
    So, what do you suggest? As you can tell, I am quite a novice but I am learning by researching, asking questions and doing it. Thanks in advance!

    Your second Select statement is as below:
    SELECT 0
      '0' as 'TYPE'
    --DID NOT LIKE THIS <<
    ,'TBCCA' as
    'Acc ID'
    ,'12882' as
    'BEID'
    , '' as
    ' # OF UNITS'
    , Circuit_Total as
    'AMT'
    ,'D' as 'D or C'
    , '' as
    ' FDOC yyyymmdd'
    , '' as
    ' LDOC yyyymmdd'
    , Address as
    'Brief Comment'
    , city as 'Tax City'
    , State as
    'Tax State'
    , Zip_Code as
    'Tax Zip Code'
    , ''INV_DATE
    as 'Invoice Date'  -- CHANGE HERE
    FROM [dbo].[TBC_MonthlyCircuitDetailStaticValues]
    WHERE INV_DATE = '2014-07-01'
    AND [Circuit_Total] >0
    You are receiving Invoice date from INV_DATE column from table or you want to set it as blank?
    Change it to either - ( '' as
    'Invoice Date' ) or  (INV_DATE as
    'Invoice Date'  )

  • Utilizing parameters passed into a Stored Procedure

    Ok. I am creating a Stored Procedure working with Java and Oracle 8.1.7. I am passing in multiple parameters to use in creating the query I need. I am also using Intermedia Indexing and am forced, do to specs, to use the NOT IN.
    Question: Can I pass in parameters rather then strings into a Contains(for Intermedia usage) or a NOT IN within the context of a Stored Procedure?
    The Process is now being dynamically created in Java code and the thought is that it will decrease the load to the Oracle server if it is created in a stored procedure. Do to the dynamic nature of this query and the need to use CONTAINS(....., WITHIN) as well as NOT IN/NOT EXISTS, I need to know if this is possible before I begin to rewrite a couple years worth of code.
    Thank you

    Go to asktom.oracle.com and do a search for "varying elements in in list". There are detailed examples of how to do this properly. I'll try a link to one of them but I doubt it will work ...

  • Passing array parameters to Stored procedure

    Hi,
    I need to call a procedure repeatedly with different set of parameters. Instead To do this, I can form a parameter arrays and pass it to the procedure. This is working fine with Oracle 8.1.7 database and Oracle 8.1.7 odbc driver.
    Is there any difference in the way 8.1.6 Oracle ODBC driver behave? When we use the same code with 8.1.6 ODBC driver (with either 8.1.6 database or 8.1.7 database), and pass an array of n elements to the stored procedure, first elemet in the array is processed correctly and for the remaining n-1 times the same value is getting used (which leades to a unique constraint violation since procedure in this case does an insert). Soem of our clients are on 8.1.6 and so we need to get this working on it too.
    Also are you aware if Microsoft ODBC driver implements this correctly. When we traced with ODBC trace, it was executing the procedure n times one after the other thereby simulating the effect but poor performance. (MDAC 2.6).
    Is there any extra settings to be done?
    Thanks
    Sree

    Hi Justin,
    When I installed 8.1.6.6 ODBC driver this problem went off, but I recieved another problem.
    I am getting
    "ORA-01460 unimplemented or unreasonable conversion requested"
    on execution of some procedures with parameter arrays. They work fine with 8.1.7.0.
    Any idea? Is it suggested that I use 8.1.7 ODBC driver with 8.1.6 server/client? Will it create some other problem?
    Thanks

  • Passing Objects to Stored Procedures in SQL Queries: UNREF(REF(o))

    To me it seems that passing an object (type) to stored procedure in a SQL query is quite laborious. See:
    I created the following simple type:
    TYPE LAST AS OBJECT (
    id NUMBER
    defined a function:
    FUNCTION "CHECKLAST" (l LAST)
    RETURN NUMBER
    AS LANGUAGE JAVA
    NAME 'Checker.checkLast(Last) return int';
    created a typed table:
    CREATE TABLE lastTable OF Last;
    inserted some objects:
    INSERT INTO lastTable VALUES (1003);
    NOW! If want to use the StoredFunction I have to use the following syntax:
    SELECT checkLast(DEREF(REF(o)))
    FROM lasttable o;
    That's not very elegant.
    I would expect the follwing to be working:
    SELECT checkLast(o)
    FROM lasttable o;
    Did I do something wrong? Or did Oracle forget to implement the simple syntax?
    Even worse, the DEREF(REF(o)) trick does not work for member functions...
    Regards,
    André

    I did some experiments and can now (partly) answer my own question:
    Indeed, it is possible to declare a function with a parameter passed as reference:
    CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE Point AS OBJECT
    ID INT,
    MEMBER FUNCTION distance(q IN REF Point) RETURN NUMBER
    Unfortunately, it is not possible to use the REF in PL/SQL directly:
    CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE BODY Point is
    MEMBER FUNCTION distance(q IN REF Point) RETURN NUMBER
    AS
    BEGIN
    RETURN q.ID - SELF.ID; --Error(5,14): PLS-00536: No navigation through REF
    END;
    end;
    So, for testing purposes I decided to implement a very simple PL/SQL member function:
    CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE BODY Point is
    MEMBER FUNCTION distance(q IN REF Point) RETURN NUMBER
    AS
    BEGIN
    RETURN -1;
    END;
    end;
    BUT: The SQL query without VALUE is still not possible. The query
    SELECT *
    FROM PointTable d, PointTable e
    WHERE d.distance(e) > 0
    renders ORA-00904: "E": invalid identifier
    Somehow the 'e' seems to be misinterpreted completely.
    Illogically, the following query works fine:
    SELECT *
    FROM PointTable d, PointTable e
    WHERE d.distance(REF(e)) > 0
    The illogical thing is that, now 'E' seems to refer to a VALUE and not to REF (because we can use the REF function), whereas in Gaverill's post 'O' seems to refer to a REF (because we can use the VALUE function).
    My intent is to avoid both the VALUE(o) from Gaverill's example and the REF(e) from my example, because both is not intuitive for end users...
    Maybe I have to define a VIEW holding the object values... But then the end user has to use it in the FROM part.
    All in all, there seems to be no elegant solution for passing objects as parameters to functions...
    Regards,
    André

  • Passing Values to Stored Procedure for "IN" Clause

    Hello All:
    I am trying to pass values to a stored procedure to use in an IN clause, and getting an "ORA-01722: invalid number".
    I believe this has something to do with how .Net handles strings and how I am trying to pass it to my stored procedure.
    The values I know need to be IN (2, 1) for the stored procedure to work, and I built a routine that creates a string value to pass in the format "2, 1", but I believe because this value is defined as a string in the .Net code, the leading and trailing apostrophe characters are causing the problem in the stored procedure.
    I have in my .Net code the following:
    oCommand.Parameters.Add("groupID_", OracleDbType.Varchar2).Value = GroupID;
    Where GroupID is defined as a string character, and has values of the following: 2, 1, but due to how .net handles it, it passes as "2, 1".
    So of course, inside my stored procedure,
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE PAYSOL.sp_ProjectsManAppAndFundRpt(
    p_Cursor1 OUT SYS_REFCURSOR,
    p_Cursor2 OUT SYS_REFCURSOR,
    p_Cursor3 OUT SYS_REFCURSOR,
    p_Cursor4 OUT SYS_REFCURSOR,
    p_Cursor5 OUT SYS_REFCURSOR,
    groupID_ IN VARCHAR2)
    where I am defining the groupID_ parameter as a VARCHAR2, it is keeping the apostrophes, causing problems when I use it in my IN clause:
    AND S.GroupID IN (groupID_)
    What do I need to do to pass this value correctly? Is there something I can do inside the stored procedure to strip those characters, or do I need to pass it differently, or completely alter how I am handling this? I don't know the right path to head down, so wanted to seek some help.
    Thanks
    Andy

    IN Clauses and parameterized queries can be tricky beasts; so while logically it makes sense to do what you want (it does not do so in databases!)
    you can handle this problem in a few ways:
    1) anonymous sql (don't recommend)
    2) a user defined type and function as such

  • Not prompting for the parameters of stored procedures while running

    Hi All,
    I have a stored proc which takes in 3 parameters and execute a copy of a record in a table based on the 3 parameters which I pass in.
    When I use the proc in crystal reports (Crystal Reports 2008), it is not prompting for the parameter values if we execute the report directly. It's prompting the values only when I do 'Veriyf Database' from the menu. Why is it not prompting for values when executing directly. Am I missing anything here?
    Also, I have a C# .net project which uses the report and take in input parameters. Even there, previously, I used to call the VerifyDatabase () first and then the SetParameterValues () which was working fine for regular expressions. But for this report (which uses stored procedure), it is not giving the desired output (copying data), even though the report doesn't fail to run. But when I changed the order of the call to have SetParameterValues () before the call to VerifyDatabase (), it works fine (copies the data for the given input parameters).
    Please let me know what is missing here? Is the order of the call to VerifyDatabase () and SetParameterValues () matters? If so, why is it working for regular expressions and not for stored procs?
    Please clarify.
    Thanks,
    Siva.

    I recommend posting this to the Crystal Reports Design forum. As I read it:

    The issue is in the CR designer 1st. So it needs to be resolved there before moving on to the CR SDK in .NET.

  • Trying to pass array to stored procedure in a loop using bind variable

    All,
    I'm having trouble figuring out if I can do the following:
    I have a stored procedure as follows:
    create procedure enque_f826_utility_q (inpayload IN f826_utility_payload, msgid out RAW) is
    enqopt dbms_aq.enqueue_options_t;
    mprop dbms_aq.message_properties_t;
    begin
    dbms_aq.enqueue(queue_name=>'f826_utility_queue',
    enqueue_options=>enqopt,
    message_properties=>mprop,
    payload=>inpayload,
    msgid=>msgid);
    end;
    The above compiles cleanly.
    The first parameter "inpayload" a database type something like the following:
    create or replace type f826_utility_payload as object
    2 (
    3 YEAR NUMBER(4,0),
    4 MONTH NUMBER(2,0),
    83 MUSTHAVE CHAR(1)
    84 );
    I'd like to call the stored procedure enque_f826_utility_q in a loop passing to it
    each time, new values in the inpayload parameter.
    My questions are:
    First, I'm not sure in php, how to construct the first parameter which is a database type.
    Can I just make an associative array variable with the keys of the array the same as the columns of the database type shown above and then pass that array to the stored procedure?
    Second, is it possible to parse a statement that calls the enque_f826_utility_q procedure using bind variables and then execute the call to the stored procedure in a loop passing new bind variables each time?
    I've tried something like the following but it's not working:
    $conn = oci_pconnect (....);
    $stmt = "select * from f826_utility";
    $stid = oci_parse($conn, $sqlstmt);
    $r = oci_execute($stid, OCI_DEFAULT);
    $row = array();
    $msgid = "";
    $enqstmt = "call enque_f826_utility_q(:RID,:MID)";
    $enqstid = oci_parse($conn, $sqlstmt);
    oci_bind_by_name($enqstid, ":RID", $row); /* line 57 */
    oci_bind_by_name($enqstid, ":MID", $msgid);
    while ($row = oci_fetch_array($stid, OCI_RETURN_NULLS+OCI_ASSOC))
    ++$rowcnt;
    if (! oci_execute($enqstid)) /* line 65 */
    echo "Error";
    exit;
    When I run this, I get the following:
    PHP Notice: Array to string conversion in C:\Temp\enqueue_f826_utility.php on l
    ine 57

    Thanks for the reply.
    I took a look at this article. What it appears to describe is
    a calling a stored procedure that takes a collection type which is an array.
    Does anyone from Oracle know if I can pass other database type definitions to a stored procedure from PHP?
    I have a type defined in my database similar to the following which is not
    an array but a record of various fields. This type corresponds to a payload
    of an advanced queue payload type. I have a stored procedure which will take as it's input, a payload type of this structure and then enqueue it to a queue.
    So I want to be able to pass a database type similar to the following type definition from within PHP. Can anyone from Oracle verify whether or not this is possible?
    create or replace type f826_utility_payload as object
    YEAR NUMBER(4,0),
    MONTH NUMBER(2,0),
    UTILITY_ID NUMBER(10,0),
    SUBMIT_FAIL_BY VARCHAR2(30),
    MUSTHAVE CHAR(1)
    );

  • HOW TO PASS VALUE TO STORED PROCEDURE through page

    Hi
    I want to create generate next number on base of type. I have created stored procedure with passing  three value input. If I am passing value manually through page then next number is generating. But I don't to pass value manually, I have to assign value internally as per database record.
    Sameh Nassar: Create PL/SQL Function And Call It From Your ADF Application
    I did same thing in my application,It is working,Output like that
    Value = INV
    Result= 26400080
    Now I have to assign value TRANSCATION  TYPE through bean class or  assign another textbox value. I did in my program in the following ways
       <af:inputText value="INV"
                                                              label="#{bindings.p_transaction_type.hints.label}"
                                                              required="#{bindings.p_transaction_type.hints.mandatory}"
                                                              columns="#{bindings.p_transaction_type.hints.displayWidth}"
                                                              maximumLength="#{bindings.p_transaction_type.hints.precision}"
                                                              shortDesc="#{bindings.p_transaction_type.hints.tooltip}"
                                                              id="it16" binding="#{InvoiceJobOrderBean.transacation_type}"
                                                              partialTriggers="it16">
                                                    <f:validator binding="#{bindings.p_transaction_type.validator}"/>
                                                </af:inputText>
    then  I got the following error.
