Crash occurred in NSAPI SAF send-cgi

Hi,
We are getting Crash every couple of days. But could not find why this should happen. Here is the error log and the pstack info. If anyone has idea, please let me know.
We have recently upgraded to sun servers6.1sp6 and solaris 10.

Unfortunately, we can't tell much from that pstack output because it doesn't include symbols:pstack: warning: librtld_db failed to initialize; symbols from shared libraries will not be availableI don't know pstack couldn't initialize librtld_db. How big is the core file? Is it possible that it was truncated due to a lack of disk space or ulimit? Did you run pstack on the same system that generated the core file?
While I don't remember seeing a bug like this before, have you tried applying the latest service pack? For Web Server 6.1, that's 6.1SP7. Service packs contain important bug fixes.

This results in a looping of the pop-up logon message box indicating :
Cannot logon because of an incorrect User ID, Incorrect password or Directory problem.
java.io.EOFException: Connection lost
Originally we thought we simply forgot the password. We confirmed we had the right password by doing ldapsearch and additionally taking the effort to put the 'dse.ldif' file back with the same encrypted password (SSHA).
Are there any patches to address this problem? Our VAR thought that we might be under attack but we ONLY see this message as a result of trying 'startconsole' and logon.

Did you try fixing that first? Did it help? Are your hostname and/or IP address settings in your admin server config correct? Are you using DNS? Do they match your DNS settings?
I'm glad I'm migrating off this product to IBM Directory Server.Did you attempt to contact an official Sun DS support person? The ones I know are very knowledgeable and helpful. AFAIK, this forum is not a venue for official support. In fact, I end up answering a fair number of questions, and I'm definitely not affiliated with Sun (although I did work on Netscape/iPlanet DS up until 5.1).

Steps to reproduce the crash:
1) Take an HDR photo
2) View the photo
3) Click the icon on the bottom left corner and select Message
4) In the 'To' field, add a contact with a mobile phone number
5) Tap the microphone icon and dictate a few words so they appear below the picture
6) Tap Send (This is where it crashes)
If you repeat steps 1 though 4 and then manually type the same message, there is no crash and the message gets sent successfully.
Try it out. Does this happen to you?

I noticed this as well, reported to an Apple technician today with the crash logs as well, having got a friend on a forum to test this out on his 4S which did the same thing, so hopefully that will be sorted out for a future release

hi comrades,
first, apologies for such a long post but I thought better to give as much detail as possible.
afx cs5 keeps crashing when trying to render a high quality quicktime.
I've rendered the whole timeline several times at quarter resolution no probs.
it is a large canvas (2 x HD projection). I'm trying to render a high quality 1440 px preview render.
I get
"crash occurred while invoking effect plug-in ripple"
even though the crash is happening 10-20 seconds before the layer containing the ripple effect appears in the timeline
so I make sure of the following
"Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously" is unticked
secret preferences purge every 1 frame
also preferences/preview/ unticked "Enable OpenGL"
and then try rendering just the 1 or 2 seconds where the crash occured - bingo it worked.
so I set the whole time line rendering again and it crashes a few seconds earlier than last time with the message
"crash in progress. Last logged message was <4140 <GetDepthPinFlags> <5> 2:24bit"
there is a bit of stock footage in there. its not an unusual codec, just photo jpeg. 24 bit
I tried turning those stock footage layers off, now I'm getting the previous crash message

again, this crash happens around 10 seconds before the layer containing the ripple effect appears in timeline
there is a very high res 3d layer in the comp which the camera zooms into. I thought this maybe causing it.
although this layer ends around 38 seconds. twice I have watched the render get past the 40 second mark and then crash with one of the above errors.
Yet when I open the resulting quicktime to see where the crash occurred, the quicktime is only 35 or 37 seconds long.
I didn't think that was possible? I just watched it progress to 41 or 42 seconds.
could a large 3d layer and a large canvas be causing this crash prone behaviour in CS5?
Its been a while since I worked on these kind of large canvas projects, but cs4 and cs3 seemed able to handle it.
maybe I'm taking afx 64-bit power for granted and pushing it further than I used to.
using after effects cs 5 v10.0.2.4

quick update:
I can live without the ripple effect for now, so I have turned that off and set another render going. I could just as well use wave warp.
It now appears to be rendering at almost the 50 second mark so getting somewhere.
it is just a bit of text with ripple effect and no other effects.
A combination of the font and the ripple effect not liking each other very much perhaps?
Its also currently rendering an image sequence then I can start rendering again from the point it crashes but this will take a long time as timeline is 4m 30s.
also i need to send a high quality compressed version so I was going to import the high quality quicktime into adobe media encoder.
does AME cs5 allow import of image sequence or do i need to buy cs 5.5?

A few things to look at and a few questions to ask:
First, What OS, installed Ram, and what Processor are you running?
Second, why 1440 X ? (this is a non square pixel width project if its 1440 X 1080) The only format that will playback without distortion would be DVCPro HD. If it were my project I'd be working 1920 X 1080 unless there was a very compelling reason to do otherwise.
Third, when you say very high rez 3D layer what do you mean? Only the pixel dimensions matter. Since it's a 3D layer it should be scaled to 100% and at some point in your project the distance between the camera and the high rez still should be somewhere close to the same value as the Zoom value of the camera. IOW, look at this screenshot:
The camera is centered in the world and at 100 pixels in Z, the high rez layer is centered in the world and at 950 in Z, the difference is 850 pixels, the zoom value is 847 pixels, therefore the layer is at approximately 100% scale, is going to look as good as it can look, and no matter what the pixel dimensions are, it's the right size for the composition.
If the high rez layer were closer than the zoom value the effective scale would be higher than 100% and the image would not contain enough pixels. If the high rez layer never got any closer than 2 or 3 times the zoom value (1600 pixels) then the image is too big. This could be causing your crash.
The last thing you should check are the Secret preferences. You find them by going to Preferences>General and holding down the shift key while you click. This will reveal the Disable Layer Cache and Purge settings. Try purging every 2 or 3 frames.
Last of all, AME CS5 should import a JPEG image sequences just fine according to the Docs. It's easy to give it a try. I've never tried myself. CS5.5 should import any type of image sequence. You can also import your AE project directly.
One other thing, you can also pick up an animation codec qt after a crash as well as a photoJpg QT. The movies will be in tact, it's just a little harder to pick up the right frame number.

Need to make periodic request to App Server from NSAPI SAF

I have to send a keep alive ping to a existing Session on our app server from a NSAPI SAF on IWS6.
First, is making a direct socket call the best way to handle it or is there another suggestion for sending the request.
Second, if using the direct socket connection is the way to go do I need to use the net_* methods within the NSAPI code or can I use native socket code.
Third, will there be any issues with making this type of socket call from a spawned thread, and can I use the native threads on Sun Solarias.
Some code examples would be very helpful since I can't find much at all on the site.

NSAPI doesn't expose any infrastructure for managing outbound connections, and the list of supported net_* functions does not include socket, bind, or connect analogs. You are probably best off using native socket code.
On Solaris, you can create your thread using the NSAPI systhread_create function or the Solaris pthread_create or thr_create functions. Note that you should not call NSAPI functions from a thread you create yourself unless you first call the NSAPI prepare_nsapi_thread function.

I keep getting the following warning:

What is causing this? It usually happens overnight while I'm not using my phone... so the first time I touch it in the morning it shuts off and resets. The problem started occuring after Sprint switched from "On Demand" to "Pocket Express". I had no idea of the switch, so when I clicked on it the phone automatically updated to the new application. Since then, my phone has been a mess. I deleted the application, performed a hard reset and downloaded it on my phone again.. but still there's problems. This morning, I deleted the "Pocket Express" for good. I figured it wasn't worth it if it's causing all these problems.
Help... please. I'm a novice, so please make sure the solution is something I can understand. Also, do I need to go through my Palm Desktop/Hot Sync program on my computer and delet files too?

After a hard reset and after you delete the program on the device, you will need to rename the backup folder in your username folder on the PC. The backup folder contains all 3rd party programs and settings for your device. When you sync, the backup folder is reloaded onto your device and will bring back the 3rd party programs.

Hello, I need help. Find is crashing constantly, even in safe mode

Good evening. I have a term paper to write, and I have several more seasons of the West Wing to finish. With finder constantly crashing I am able to only get one of my objectives complete.
I am not getting any warning, or message that it crashed. But as I try and use it I watch as finder reboots itself. (once per minute, plus or minus 30 seconds). All of my files are in google drive via finder, and that may somehow be related.
Also of interest is that finder is crashing even while in safe mode.
Also, earlier today my time capsule stopped putting out any internet feed for 30 minutes. Then it randomly started working. I had even called the internet provider to have them diagnose why the modem wasn't working... and they told me that it was the router! Perhaps the two are related somehow?
Help!

Make sure you have a backup.
I don't think it's your router.
If the Finder crashes persist in safe mode that means that the problem is in OS X itself.
The next diagnostic step would be to create a test user account in System Preferences > Users & Groups.
if Finder is stable in the test user account then you know that the problem is within your user account.
if the problem is within your user account then you can either
try to fix it (boot into your recovery partition {command R at restart}, and use disk utility to repair your HD and permissions)
copy your documents over to the new account and use the new account instead. And delete the previous account.
If the problem is not your user account, then it is in OS X itself (above the level of your user account)
try repairing your HD and permissions from within the recovery partition
if that doesn't work, reinstall OS X over your current installation with the Mavericks combo updater (your post does not say what version of OS X you are running but I'm assuming it's Mavericks because that's what discussion you're in). OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 Update (Combo)
I would avoid Google Drive and use Dropbox instead.

Congratulations, at least you made a stab at solving the problem. I think a lot of users used to glance at that KB article ([[firefox crashes]]) and give up trying!
Hopefully the crash instructions will be further modified soon, (some of us consider the following is an [/kb/Firefox%20crashes/discuss/1855 omission] that needs correcting) have a look at this article for an explanation of how to get the crash ID from your OS even without using firefox:

The XP OS is likely to use smoke and mirrors to make it look like you have a totally
separate installation of firefox for each account, but normally you have the one set of (most) program files, and then for firefox separate [[profiles]]. So this indicates the problem is likely to be in the profile of the problem account, or down to a plugin, malware or other issue relating to that account. (I note you have already scanned for malware with MSE, that should detect a particular trojan that is a top cause of firefox 6 crashes)
If you create a new clean profile in that account hopefully it will solve the crash problem, you can then address the issue of copying settings, bookmarks. passwords etc back. BUT before attempting that ensure that you disable all plugins, ([[safe mode]] does not disable plugins) if you have not already done so. Some plugins may not show up in Firefox's list, you may need to look at the OS program lists.
I note you mention banking, a particular utility ''IDvault'' (I think Comcast supply it) has been causing crashes. Are you using IDvault ? (IDvault should be fixed soon bug684748; version 1.0.627 may have been fixed, but standalone version 5.9.627 has not yet been fixed )

I have one computer that crash every time I start Firefox. Ocassionally the firefox window will appear for less than a second and then the Crash Report Window shows up; most times it goes right to Crash Report Window. Then it is for some reason unable to send the crash repor; it keeps looping back to the crash report. I've checked my modem and router are operating correctly; I have another computer that's working fine. I've run scan for Trojans, viruses and still see the problem. Any help would be very much appreciated as I'm stuck at this point. For what it's worth, Internet Explorer has the same problem, crashing upon opening.

Hello. I have a similar problem to the question of Ryan Vaught, (Firefox crashes upon open - won't send crash report; crash report info summarized below [MY] Firefox version: prior one to 3.6.7 Operating System: Windows XP Provessional). Mine is a bit different tho. Firefox seems to be crashing and my internet crashes right with it. When it does this, it also takes out some Win32 system .exe files. I too have ran AVG (Full Coverage /Purchased one) and then updated to Viper (Sunbelt Software) and it comes up clean of any viruses, etc. Once it crashes and I close Firefox, the crash report request comes up. When I hit send, it says it cannot be sent with no additional information as to why. I just updated Firefox to 3.6.7 and sure hope this helps, but it almost always happens when I am playing games that use flash. I can send a screenshot if you need it and feel free to edit my question if need be. I've checked my Viper settings and can get to all the websites so far trying to rule it out. Deleted my internet set up and then added it back as a new connection (hope that made sense), so I don't know who to be asking this question of, but hoping you may know the answer why I can't send the crash report. If you are trying to add more email addresses to your "Allowed Senders" list in ePrintCenter you need to click the icon in your ePrintCenter account labeled "ePrint Settings". From here, click the button next to "Allowed Senders Only" if it is not already selected. All you need to do from here is type an email address in the blank text box and click the button "+ Add Email" and it should be displayed below in the list of Allowed Senders. Make sure you click "Save" to keep these settings after you have finished.

My iPod touch crashes. There is no rhyme or reason as to when the crash occurs. It will not reboot until reconnected to a power source. Once connected to a power source, it reboots and works well. When disconnected it will work then crash again.

My Ipod Touch 4th generation (8gb, iOS 5.1) crashes for no apparent reason. There is no rhyme or reason to when the crash occurs.
Once it crashes, the only way to reboot the iPod is to connect it to an external power source (computer or AC outlet). Once connected, it will reboot and operate normally.
When disconnected from the power source, it will operate for a variable periods of time (maybe minutes, maybe hours) then crash again. It can't be rebooted until again attached to an external power source.
Has anyone experienced a similar situation? Thanks for your help.....

After Effects error: crash occurred while invoking effect plug-in "Looks" URGENT!

My name is Tyler and i'm a Mult-Media Editor in training. Just recently meaning just this project i've been getting this error "After Effects error: crash occurred while invoking effect plug-in “Looks”." every time i try to render. If i try to remove the clip where it messes up and replace it with another it will just mess up in another spot.

I've read other forums and watched tutorials. I've already done the following. (Not in order used)
1. Downgrade Magic Bullet Looks from 1.4.3 to 1.4.2 (Didn't Work)
2. Upgrade Magic Bullet Looks to MBL 2.0 from Magic Bullet Suite 11 (Didn't Work)
3. Uninstall my gfx card and re-install it with the newer version (Didn't Work)
4. Reset AE preferences by pressing alt+shift+ctrl on the shortcut (Didn't Work)
5. Change render settings from H.264 -> .AVI (Didn't Work)
6. I've deleted "AE_OpenGL" from my After Effects folder (Didn't Work)

I've never had this problem before and hope that someone has a solution to this problem... if so please post an answer. I don't know if its because i put the plug in on all of my clips and then made an adjustment layer with another Magic Bullet Looks or if it's my clips fault but i just dont know what to do.

It sounds like Looks is only crashing on this project. If that is so then it's most likely a problem with one of your video clips. Either there's a corrupted frame or some other codec glitch that's throwing the errors. I'd suggest replacing footage items with temporary footage. You could even use solids. Replace one at a time, then undo, until you find the footage that's causing the crash. Then either re-compress that footage to another codec or replace it.
If Looks is crashing on every type of footage then you need to pursue other options that are more system related.

Nickled and dimed once again by obscure errors. This is LabVIEW 10.0.1 on Redhat EL 5.5 32-bit.
I removed an enum from the project that is also used in a typedef control cluster. Since many VIs use this typedef I have to go to each VI and save in order to remove the phantom dependencies (i.e. popup can't find enum ctl when opening VIs). In the process of opening every VI and saving LabVIew is crashing on me reliably but not everytime just after I press cancel when it tries to find the enum ctl.
Here are the errors. Sometimes the address is null....I believe LabVIEW src code should check for null/bad pointers but does not in this case.

I'm sorry you are seeing that error. Did you close and save the type def that included the enum? This should prevent you from having to go through and save each VI that includes the type def. Are you using the System Exec VI? Also, are you performing any data acquisition with the VI you are referencing? The error you are seeing indicates that the LV compiler isn't handling something in your VI and I want to pinpoint exactly what is happening.

IPlanet 6.0 SP4 - NSAPI SAF

I wrote a NSAPI SAF and is used to validate the client certificate. It is called from AuthTrans directive using:

During Web Server startup and while loading the configuration file from Server Manager Console, web server calls this SAF (it was not so in previous releases of iPlanet). My SAF fails as there is no client certificate for validation during startup.
I noticed that during both instances, SAF is called as if the request is coming from client with 0.0.0.0 IP address. Since in real life there is no 0.0.0.0 IP adress, is it fair assumption to ignore the requests coming from 0.0.0.0 IP adress?

I tried to separate the authrization decision and enforcement using AuthTrans and PathCheck directives by adding following lines in default object of obj.conf
AuthTrans fn=basic-auth auth-type=basic userfn="mySAF"
PathCheck fn=require-auth auth-type=basic realm=test
Now, the web server asks for username/password after asking for client certificate.
The documentation talks about verifying/setting username & password in AuthTrans/PathCheck directives, whereas I want to deal with certificates.
