Crashing WLCS 3.1

I have WLCS 3.1 installed under WindowsNT 4.0 SP5. WebLogic Server 5.1
with the SP6 applied.
I can start up the commerce server, and access the catalog demo and the
admin screens. When I attempt to access the portal demo, the JVM exits
with an exception. I am using JDK 1.2.2
Any suggestions on what to try?
Thanks
Bruce

Yeah, that is a good idea, but it is a NT level crash that happens, no
messages on the java console at all. I am running Dr Watson, and it
does create a "Crash File" but it is far too huge and cryptic for me to
find much out.???
When clicking "Start Commerce Server", there appeares console like "command
prompt", and
log starts as following. Don't you have this?
Pay attension that there's Japanese letters in this log, please.

  • Big problem with 8.0.100

    Hi.
Three weeks ago we upgraded our three 5508 controllers from 7.5 to 8.0.100, and since then the controllers (random wich one) suddenly reboots 2-3 times a week. Before upgrade it has been rock solid.
    1. Anyone knows when next version of 8.x will be out?
    2. Is it possible to downgrade from 8.0.100 to 7.6.130 without any big issues?

    1. Anyone knows when next version of 8.x will be out?
Everyone expect this to come-out before Christmas. You can get a pre-release of 8.0MR1 if that is something you like to do. Refer below for detail & few of WLC crashes bug  fixed in that pre-release code (as of 19th Nov)
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/12298741/80-mr1-beta-availability

    2. Is it possible to downgrade from 8.0.100 to 7.6.130 without any big issues?
Yes, go for 7.6.130.0, if you have that many crashes a week. May be the features you used in your 5508. I have upgraded one of my 5508 in Sep, so far it did not crash.(that does not imply 8.0.100.0 is good though). Better to reach TAC & provide them crash info to analyze. In that way they will let you know if it is a known bug & then any fix available.

  • FUS 1.9 vs FRIV

    Hi,
I'm going to upgrade FUS on my 5508 WLC to version 1.9 but from the sysinfo output I can see that controller is probably already upgraded.
    Manufacturer's Name.............................. Cisco Systems Inc.
    Product Name..................................... Cisco Controller
    Product Version.................................. 7.6.120.0
    Bootloader Version............................... 1.0.20
    Field Recovery Image Version..................... 7.6.95.16
Firmware Version................................. FPGA 1.7, Env 1.8, USB console 2.2
one think is different between this WLC and other I already upgraded - Field Recovery Image Version - 7.6.95.16. When I upgrade other 5508 in the past FRIV has been upgraded to 7.6.101.1 in this case I have 7.6.95.16.
My question is what should I do? Can I upgrade this WLC using the FUS 1.9 to have FRIV 7.6.101.1? In the release notes there is information to upgrade FUS on the WLC only once. I'm not sure if the FUS was already upgraded on my WLC so I'm a little bit worried - I don't want to crash WLC a specially that I don't have access to the console connection.
    What do you think?

You can upload the FUS again and reboot the controller and specify if you want to upgrade certain pieces or not.  You will have the choice when your consoled to the controller.
Cisco 5500 Series Wireless LAN Controllers
•Field Recovery Image is upgraded from 7.0.112.21 to 7.6.101.1
    •Bootloader is upgraded to 1.0.20
•Offline Field Diagnostics is upgraded from 0.9.28 to 0.9.35
•FPGA Revision version is upgraded to 1.7
•Environment Controller (MCU) Image version is upgraded to 1.8
•USB Console Revision version is upgraded to 2.2

  • Upgrade wlc to 7.4.100.60 AP3600 crash

    Hi,
I have in a LAB and wlc 5508 with V7.4.100.0 working with 3 lap 1242 and tow 3602, I made the upgrade to the new version 7.4.100.60 the wlc is OK, but the 3600 neve came up, I consol them and was in a "ROMMON"
    AP:
I had to upload the image because the ap send an error with the image. then I tried to join the 3600 again with the wlc and when the wlc downloads the new image to the access point, the AP crash again.
Do you know why is this ??
    thanks

    Hi,
I do not have the crash info, I download the firmware into the wlc again, I try to join the AP and works OK, I think the upgrade in the wlc was kind of corrupt.
    Now it is working good.
    thanks

anyone can know about failed reason?  now we processing in rma. we going to change hardware 5days away.

    Hi
Only Cisco TAC can analysis this & tells you exact reason of this reload. It looks like a software related crash..
I would suggest to move onto a later code (like 7.4.121.0) rather staying in 7.3 code when you get the new hardware.

We didn't find the on the web or within cisco's website.
As per the WLC itself, it usually don't have any AP's registered on it (acts as a backup WLC). It isn't member of a clustered WLC either (7.4 feature).
I'm attaching the crashinfo to this post.
    Could be a HW malfunction?
    Thanks in advance!

    Lucas,
You would be better off opening up a TAC case and provide Cisco TAC with this info. They would be able to tell you hopefully the cause.

  • Virtual WLC 7.5 - installation problmes (Controller Crashed)

    Hi all,
I am installing vWLC on VMware ESXi 5 and the controller crashes after the boot. Everybody has any similar issues?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi e-aguilar,
Eventually I did not go for the 7.5 version, I still had troubles to install it. Instead I downloaded de version 7.4.110.0 (the AssureWave that has an elevated status from Cisco), probably with most fixes. Running now on 2GB RAM and supporting 76 APs over VPN. Works like a charm!

  • SNMP TRAP ON Secondary WLC 5508

    Hi I'm Louis,
I work on 2 WLC 5508 with version 7.4 and Prime Infrastructure 1.3
We have activate AP SSO to work with a primary and secondary controller.
We have added the controller to Prime infrastructure and activated SNMP.
We receive correctly the alarms on Prime.
But when we work on Primary WLC, and the secondary crash we haven't got information about that. No SNMP received.
    That is normal ?
    Thx for your reply
    Regards

I find this, in Monitoring and Troubleshooting the Redundancy States
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/prime/infrastructure/1.2/user/guide/chgdevconfig.html
On my primary controller, in SNMP => Trap Log , I can see :
RF failure notification ErrorType: 34 Reason :Lost Peer, Moving to Active-No-Peer State! => When I unplug RP link
RF progress notification unitId: -1407319963 peerUnitId :14 unitState: -1407319863 peerUnitState :5
RF progress notification unitId: -1407319963 peerUnitId :14 unitState: -1407319863 peerUnitState :9  => When I plug the RP link.
So I can see the trap on my controller but there is nothing in Prime ...

  • 1131AG keeps disconnecting from 5508 wlc

We have about 20 APs in our network and about 4-5 are 1131AGs and the rest are 3500s.  The 1131s disconnect from the controller for about 2 minutes (i guess it is rebooting) and then comes back up.  This happens every 1-5 days.  I have tried changing the power level and the channel.  I am not sure why the 1131s keep disconnecting.

I checked the wireless tab on the WLC gui and the AP uptime resets back to 0.  So it is probably rebooting/crashing.
I tried pulling up logs from both the APs and the WLC.  The logs stop about 3 months before and then continues right when the AP comes back online (ex.  Apr 14 was the last log then Jul 1 was when the AP reset and came back online and joined the controller).
Although there is a Jul 5th message:
*Jul 5 16:00:13.121: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG:  Received a upload request from controller for event log buffer

    Hi
Only Cisco TAC can analysis this & tells you exact reason of this reload. It looks like a software related crash..
I would suggest to move onto a later code (like 7.4.121.0) rather staying in 7.3 code when you get the new hardware.
