Create a flatfile
I need help. Could anyone show me some code on how to create a flatfile in Java? I need to create a rather large flatfile and call a COBOL bat file to read it.
Create a new java.io.File object and then attach a java.io.FileWriter to it. You can wrap this FileWriter with another one to get access to more functionality, I personally like to wrap it in a java.io.BufferedWriter.

Error while creating more than 100 users using Flatfile Recon
Hi,
I am trying to create users in OIM 9.1 using flat file recon. The recon works when I have less than 100 users in the flatfile. But if I add more than 100 users to the file, the recon does not create all users. Less than 50 users get created in OIM if the number of users in the flat file is more than 100. I get the below error in this scenario.

Error in flatfile load - date not compliant with user date settings
Hi,
I want to load a flatfile into BI 2004s.
so i created a flatfile datasrource, transformation etcetc.. all fine so far.
the file contains 2 dates in format YYYYMMDD and are loaded in DATS infoobjects (also yyyymmdd).
but when i load the data into the PSA it immediatly dumps with error message "19771009 does not match the user-dependent date format --> long text"
the long text sais 19771009 does not correspond to the date format that is assigned to the current user BIWREMOTE. which is correct.. cos there date is DD-MM-YYYY
when i change the date format in the user settings to YYYY-MM-DD it works fine...... in the forground. In the background,whatever i do, it dumps with this errormessage.
so i have 2 questions:
since when is, while loading to the PSA, the date format linked&checked with the date format in the user setting? i cannot recall ever having this issue.
did anyone encounter this problems.

IDM5.0 SP4 FlatFile charset codes.
We use the latin/extended ascii charset. aka iso_8859-1.
When creating a FlatFile Sync resource we may specify the charset format. I have tried various strings and always I get this error returned by IDM
"Error iterating accounts for resource STMwinFF:
com.waveset.util.WavesetException: The FlatFileIterator threw this exception com.waveset.util.CSVParser java.io.UnsupportedEncodingException: 8859-1"
Ok. since the supported encoding codes are not given in the SP4 documentation could someone please state what charsets are supported (other than UTF-8)
IDM 5.0 seemed to be happy reading 8859-1 encoded files.Not sure if this is relating directly to your query.
I am running IdM 5.0 SP4 on Apache Tomcat with MySql as the IdM repository.
Its suprising - when I run the Account Index Report for reconciliation results, I get an error: Illegal mix of collations (latin1_swedish_ci,IMPLICIT) and (latin1_bin,IMPLICIT) for operation '='".
Other points:
* I dont get such error when I run any other report.
* My colleague who's running on other data respository (SQL Server) does not encounter this error - so it is to do wth MySql? -
Hi all,
We have created a flatfile hierarchy in developement system and successfully loaded the hierarchy.
But when the procee chain related to hierrachy is transported to Quality system, it gave authorization error while transporting.
You do not have authorization to hierrachy name.'Activity 23'.
But hierarchy will be created as soon as Infopackage triggers.
Please throw some light on the cause for this issue.

I have following question :
1- Why you want to transport it to Q System ? You have hierarchy in Flat file , so load in Q system via info-Package .
2- You can create local process chain in Q System also or you do not have authorization ?
Might be below information is usefule :
In Info Package " Hierarchy Selection Tab" You can set the check box : Load Hierarchy.....* * and flag for activation or activate it ..
What it do :
Select this field to activate the hierarchy automatically after a successful load.
The hierarchy cannot be activated if it is used in an aggregate, It is then marked for activation. The hierarchy is activated when Hierarchy/Attribute changes are next carried out.

My goal is to make a hierarchical query with the start with and connect by clauses. From what I have read is that I need to normalize the data of the flatfile.
How do I achieve a table which I can query so that the query will represent the hierarchy that exists. Namely
Pgroup
++Pclasse
Application Software
++Database Software
++Spreadsheet Software
So a 2-level hierarchy. I'd like to understand this simple concept first. I built on the knowledge that I gain. So the questions are:
1.What do I need to do to make the table so that I can use a hierarchical query on it?
2. How should the query syntax be?
3. Is it also possible to get the data in the hierarchical query sorted asec?
I would only like to use the simple structures of the start with and connect by clauses first. I've read there are some new additions to 10G. The problem with the examples used by the tutorials is that the tables are already made so that they are suitable for hierarchical queries. I hope to understand it by this example. And take it a step further.

Does anybody know how to use BW Datasources in R3 (found in transaction RSA5) to extract data to a flat file for the purpose of loading a non-SAP data warehouse?
The export file may be an IDoc.
I tried RSA3, but it seems you have to specify a "target system" which is a BW system. I simply want to use the BW extractors to extract to a file.

If it is function module based extractor then you can use the copy/modify the code (copy in case you are authorized to change it). Now at the end of the extractor write an ABAP code to download the data into a flatfile using GUI_DOWNLOAD or any suitable function module. You can use this extractor fn module in an ABAP program and schedule it everyday to create the flatfile.
If it view/table base extractor then use that in an ABAP program to create the flatfile.

You can find the type of extractor in RSO2 and also in the tabel ROOSOURCE.

Processing of FI invoic via scanning interface

In this external system the user will do all the accountingprocedures and when the invoice is ok this scanning system can create a flatfil with all neccesary information such as vendor amount accounts and so on.

Unicode in ABAP-Mapping (u00E9 becomes u00C3u00A9)

I implemented this guide to create a flatfile from an IDoc. It works fine, but some characters are not mapped correctly: an "é" for example becomes "é" and an "ú" becomes "ú". Is this a Unicode problem or something? If yes, how can I use Unicode in ABAP mapping?
As the XML-IDoc is transfered correctly to XI the problem is not in communication channels... it's in the ABAP mapping.

As michal said the problem needs to be isolated whether it is at the mapping level or at the file adapter level.
In case it the file adapter then you can mention the encoding standard and if its at the abap mapping the your objects should be unicode enabled.

File to file mapping without xml
Hello,
is there a possible way to use a PI7.1 file to file mapping (one static-positioned field must be mapped) without storing the file in xml format ?
We are having a flatfile and have to send this flatfile through our jms receiver adapter(as flatfile structure) but there is one important field which has to be mapped/changed(static value for all files).
Our SAP Applikation (File sender) would avoid to change this during or after creating the flatfiles in the R/3 System.

How to upload file and put in BDC, need sample func specs to practice on...
Hi guys,
I do not have anything to do as of the moment, so I want to practice BDC on, lets say SU01. I have seen existing BDC programs here and I am confused as to why some are using read dataset, open dataset, etc. and others are not using them at all. Anyway, what I want to do is to create a flatfile and upload it then populate the fields in t-code SU01.
Also, if its not too much, I want some functional specs or requirements that I can practice here in the office:)

In order to practice BDC you better go through recording first through the Tcode SHBD. There you provide the name for the recording and also the Tcode you want to use for BDC. Once you complete with the recording you press the back button and click on program button in the application toolbar. You get the complete program written to execute the BDC in both session method and also Call transaction Method.
BDC can be done using some flat files in presentation server as well as application server. Data sets will be used for loading the file from application server. For presentation server functions like Ws_Upload and WS_download will be used.
So if you want to create Flat file in presentation server upload the same through BDC you use functions BDC_open group for opening a session,BDC_insert group to insert the flat file and bdc_close group to close after completion of the upload of data.

Problem with extraction of flat file to infocube

We are workin on SAP SCM APO release 7 that has the componente BW release 7. and we're trying to load data from a flat file to infocube like we used to do in release 5.
The problem is that we get the message that no data is available everytime we run the DTP. The transfer structure is:
1. source system: flat file
2. data source: a flat file according with our CSV file
3. transformation between the data source and the infocube
4. infocube
do i need to create an infosource even i'm loading from a flat file? With the release 5 of SAP SCM APO i don't need to create an infosource. It works fine from the data source to the infocube.
We don't fine any notes related so I'm asking if you have experienced this before with the release 7.0 and how do you solve it.

In BI DTP loads data directly from datasource to infocube. No need to create an infosource. But make sure that you have loaded data till your datasource i.e. upto PSA. For that you need an infopackage to load data from flatfile to PSA. Then from PSA, you can load data to cube by your DTP.
You have to create a flatfile datasource and give path to the CSV file. I guess you have already done this. Now right click on your datasource and click on create infopackage to create an infopackage. here also check the path and start the infopackage. It will load data till your PSA. If this loading is successful you have data in your PSA. Right click on your datasource and click on manage. Thus you can check your data in PSA. Now you need transformation between your datasource and cube which you already have. Now run your DTP and your data will be loaded from PSA.

Some Data Missing in the inbound Idoc received from Gentran
Hi,
We are receing one custom message type with the basic type ORDER05 in SAP from Gentran. When we checked the destination file generated in Gentran, its showing data for all the segments. However in SAP when we checked the corresponding idoc we find the segment E1EDP05 is missing. The Gentran team says they are placing the destination file in the unix server of SAP. However we dont find these files in the SAP Unix server. Could anybody advise what could be the problem and where we need to check further ?Gentran will never be able to create an IDOC within SAP. Here is what happens:
> Gentran creates a flatfile/XML which is in the IDOC format (the one which you can see in WE60).
> Gentran then places this flat file/XML in a folder on Application server. This can be UNIX, Windows NT, etc..
> Gentran then triggers the Startrfc.exe which will trigger EDI_DATA_INCOMING function module.
> This FM will parse the data, check it for consistency of the defined standards, then write the control record into EDIDC and corresponding data records into EDID4 and updates the relevant statuses (i.e. 01 - added, etc). It'll then look into the partner profile setup, look for process code and moves the status to 64 and calls the inbound FM which will post the application document.
In you case, you need to find out what file is coming in and where E1EDP05 has missed. The data will only be sent by Gentran. The inbound function modules will never update IDOC data records (unless there is a customization). The status records are updated.
If E1EDP05 is not mapped and sent by Gentran and you still used to see it, then there should have been a customization in place to add values to IDOC segment fields. Try to get the final file that is mapped from either X12/EDIFACT and then see if E1EDP05 segment is present in there. If it is present then upload the same file into AL11 using CG3Z and call EDI_DATA_INCOMING or WE19 to process it. Once processed, you'll can observe if E1EDP05 is being created or not.
