Create a number of sub reports or table rows based on an arbitrary number

I should note that I am using reporting services in SharePoint server mode and I am connecting to Sharepoint list data as my data source.
In my SharePoint list item, it will have a property called quantity with a value of 5 for example.  In this case, I would want to create 5 subreports in my report (or a table with 5 rows).  Currently, I do not see how to accomplish this using Report
Builder.  The table will only display a number of rows equal to the number of items returned from a dataset, which in this case would be 1.
Is this possible to do?

How do you do that?  That's the piece I don't understand.
sqlstudy, below I have included more background on the requirements and details of what we are trying to do.  Here is another example of the dataset:

Quantity
Item1
Tennis Balls

Footballs

The requirement is that we need to print 5 pieces of paper that each have the item's name and description as well as an x of y sequence based on the quantity.  So the first piece of paper that prints out would say (Item1,Tennis Balls, 1 of 2), the second
piece of paper would say (Item1,Tennis Balls, 2 of 2), the third piece of paper would say (Item2,Footballs, 1 of 3), the fourth piece of paper would say (Item2,Footballs, 2 of 3), and the fifth piece of paper would say (Item2,Footballs, 3 of 3).
We are creating a system where users can print labels to identify boxes on pallets.  Each pallet can contain multiple boxes and the users need to label and identify each box.  The x of y sequence helps them keep the boxes together so things don't
get mixed up.  The users deal with a lot of orders at once and would like to be able to print everything at once.  So, given the dataset above, they would check both item1 and item2, press print and expect to get the 5 pages as I described earlier.

    So you try to bypass security checks put in place by the Basis team
    or could you explain your requirement ?
    Remember (or learn) that creating such transaction, you are able to bypass following authorization checks using SU24 (Identity Management, User and Role Administration of Application Server ABAP, AS ABAP Authorization Concept, From the Programmed Authorization Check to a Role, Editing Authorization Default Data (Development System) / Editing Authorization Default Data (Customer System). )

  • How to activate a different sub-report for each row in the data set as main report page breaks on each row of data in the main dataset

    I am going to try asking this same question a different way as I have yet to find a working solution to my problem.  I have a main report and then 8 sub reports.  My main report has one data set and returns one row of data per account number.  One
    of the fields in the main data set is called AccountProf.  My main report displays one page per Account number and then calls a different sub report based on that account's AccountProf value.  The sub reports take in the account number as a parameter
    and get multiple rows of data to display that accounts usage formatted differntly for each AccountProf (hence the 8 different sub report.  
    So far I can figure out how to do everything but setting the visibility property of each sub-reports when I have multiple accounts.  If I use the following expression for the visibility property on each sub report, it makes all the applicable sub report
    for all the accounts requested visible at once:
    =IIF(Fields!AccountProf.Value= "USE_PLUS_DMD",False,True)
    *The value in bold USE_PLUS_DMD  is different for each sub report.

    According to your description, there is a main report and 8 sub reports in the report, you want to set visibility of sub reports, if no value is passed to the parameter of sub report, the sub report will not be displayed. If that is the case, please refer
    to the following steps:
      1. Create a new parameter named NewAccountNumber, set its data type the same as @AccountNumber, select Allow multiple values, set Visibility to be hidden, then set all available values to default values.
      2. Right-click the first sub report and open Subreport Properties dialog box, click Parameters in left pane, set name to AccountNumber, then click (fx) button, type the expression like below:
    =Parameters! NewAccountNumber(0)
      3. Click Visibility in left pane, select Show or hide based on an expression, then click (fx) button and type the expression like below:
    =IIF(InStr(Join(Parameters! AccountNumber.Value), Parameters!NewAccountNumber.Value(0))>0 , false,true)
      4. Modify parameter of other sub reports like step2.
      5. Set visibility of other sub reports like step3.

  • Sub Report in Table, always showing the same data

    I created a main report with data from a dataset. The DataSet has a column: @Region_ID. The Main Report is Page-Grouped by this @Region_ID and shows a tablix with some datarows foreach region. 
    I now want to include a subreport into the table and pass the parameter @region_ID to the subreport, which also calls a procedure including the passed @region_ID. I set the @region_ID-Parameter to "always refresh"
    I added a textbox on the subreport to display the values which has been passed to the subreport. 
    I now have a multipage report, with a page for every region. The subreport displays various @region_ids in the textbox, but the data for the subreport itsself, shows the same data on every page. It seems like it has called the procedure only once, with the
    first @region_id, and now displays this data on every page, allthough it does not match.
    Any suggestions what I did wrong?

    According to your description, you have the issues on displaying the parameter in subreport. It only shows the first value of the parameters. Right?
    In Reporting Services, when we execute a procedure with parameter, this procedure will only be executed one time. This is the reason why it shows the same value in your subreport.
    In this scenario, we can just right click on the textbox of region_id, go to
    Texobox Properties -> Action -> Go to report. Select the subreport, add the region_id as parameter in
    Use these parameters to run the Report. When you click on the textbox, the region_id will be passed to the subreport. So that the value will be displayed dynamically in the subreport.

  • Crystal Reports - ECC Tables - Row level security on Multiple tables

    Hi Experts,
    We are implementing Crystal Reports directly reporting on ECC Tables.  Lot of information on row-level security has been provided by experts Ingo Hilgefort, Don Williamsand Mike Seblani, but not related to multiple tables or Wild cards
    Requirement:
    Crystal Users should have access to ALL the tables in ECC, but restricted by Company code, plant, Sales Organization, Purchasing Organization fields to what ever table it applies to. Example: MARC table should be restricted by Plant, BSEG table should be restricted by Plant and company code, GLT0 table should be restricted by Company code..etc
    Users should ONLY see their Organization related data.
    Solution Developed:
    1. We created custom authorization object with BUKRS and WERKS
    2. In  /CRYSTAL/RLS  we used Wild Cards *, +  rather than specific table  and referenced the custom authorization object with =BUKRS and =WERKS  in the Field Value
    3. Enabled global lock
    4. Custom Authorization object was added to user-profiles with corresponding restrictions
    *Observation:*
    1. This security works when a crystal report was developed on a ECC table which has both BUKRS and WERKS
    2. This setup DOES NOT work when a crystal report developed on a table with either one of BUKRS or WERKS
        Example: Does not work on MARC table - error message "Database connection error: /CRYSTAL/OSQL_EXECUTE_QUERY Message: field T0~BUKRS" unknown"
       Does not work on GLT0 table - error message "Database connection error: /CRYSTAL/OSQL_EXECUTE_QUERY Message: field T0~WERKS unknown"
    Trouble Shooting:
    In the "where clause" of the internal ABAP code generated for MARC, system is checking for BUKRS - which  should not be the expected result
    ANYTHING WRONG IN THE SECURITY SETUP ? PLEASE ADVICE
    Note: Document "BusinessObjects XI Release 2, Integration Kit for SAP, Installation Guide" does not talk much about this multiple table restriction. Any other document to be referred to ?

    I'm not sure how that would help; by using the Faculty_ID Session Variable I can identify the CRN and Term of all courses a faculty member is teaching. But I don't think that has to do with the problem I am having?

    I have a requirement to color the rows of a table based on a column value in it. I have tried and surfed many useful materials over the net. but none of them solves my purpose. Please help me, I know that i can used OADataBoundValueViewObject and create a custom css file and apply color to a particular column of a table using a decode in the select statement of that VO.
    But all i need is to color a particular row with a particular color. Need your help with this ........

  • Create Crystal Report Dynamically using XML based design metadata

    Hi,
    I have a CR Report Development environment. Please refer to workflow and requirement description below;
    I have a Java application(Report Customization Tool), which allows users to dynamically select structure and content for a report.
    The process goes as follows:
    1. In Java Application, user first gets option to select Report Header, Page Orientation, Font etc for master report.
    2. User can select a sub-report (pre-developed report frames. Not Sure about tool.) and apply the same format option (mentioned in step 1, except orientation) to it.
    3. User can select individual row/data cell to be displayed on the report through reference to DB tables in sub-reports.
    4. There can be N number of sub-reports each with independant formatting, data and data layout that could be integrated in single report.
    5 Once all selection is done, Java code generates an XML with all this info.
    Now, my requirement is dynamically write CR report based on this XML. I am not using BO enterprise, hence RAS SDK is out of scope. This report will be called thorough stand-alone .NET application in CITRIX environment.
    Can we do it in CR XI/CR 2008?

    To start, you have a fair bit of work ahead of you. The Crystal reports SDK will not do the job. You will have to use the InProc RAS SDK which is included in both CR XI and CR 2008. I'd recommend going with CR 2008 as CR XI R1 (11.0) is out of support now and CR XI R2 (11.5) will be out of support come June of 2011. Next, make sure you have applied SP 3 for CR 2008:

    Managers Performance
    In Detail tab a applying the report  level  as Detail displaying the
    Employee Performance( section on employee)-Manager name and his employeo e/subordinate sales
    I want to display the manager actual performance (From Summary Tab) in the Detail Tab
    So bascially I want to pass the Manager name  to the summary section employee name and get the sales from Summary
    This Kind of scenario  we can solve using subreport in crystal, How to achieve the Same in webi

    Hello Yogeeswar,
    This can be done by using the Open doc functionalaity in Webi.
    1.Please create Prompt in the sub report for Manager
    2.Come to the main report right click on the Manager column and you can see linking->in that choose add document.
    3.It will ask you to chose the webi doc then choose your Sub report and it will display the prompts of sun report.Now you assign Manager object to that prompt...
    Now you can see the Manager values with hyperlinking mode..click on any of the value you can get the sub report for that manager only.

    I have a report which is comparing turnover from present year to previous year.Im trying to make it dynamic - so i have added a parameter to the main report to allow user to enter a year, however I cannot work out how to pass this to the sub report so select records based on this. I have passed the data thruogh a fomula ok (WhilePrintingRecords; Shared NumberVar shYear;)  and that is working spot on.Now i just need to enter that number as a record select paremeter. Also if I try to perform a summary on this field (it never changes, but its just a test) - the 'Insert Summary' option is unavailable, and it doesnt show up as a formula in formula editor.

    I have CR XI, you want to edit your subreport links, right click the sub, select Change subreport links, you should be able to select your field, and see your parameter listed.  Once you set up the link the sub will run based on whatever link you picked.

    You should have the parent key be marked as a DBSequence type.
    Then you should have the association between the master and detail defined as composite association to make sure that the posting order to the database is correct.
