Create an array of voltage values?

I would like to measure voltage continuously, and collect that data in a small array, e.g. 10 elements (consecutively collected voltage values) and then do some calculations on the array values.  Then, I want to throw away those array values and collect the next 10 voltage values in a new array and repeat the calculation etc.
However, I am not understanding how to get the array formed.  I think an array should be created by a FOR LOOP, but, is the BUILD ARRAY the correct function to capture the values?  Does the BUILD ARRAY know to accept the values consecutively by the wiring I show in the attached vi??
Will the attached vi collect 10 values, allow a calculation, discard those 10 values, and then repeat?

Don't create your DAQmx task in every iteration of the While Loop, you will eventually run out of resources.
As Gerd said, read 10 samples at once rather than 1 sample 10 times.  Then you can get rid of the inner For loop.  You'd use DAQmx Read 1 channel N samples.

  • Creating an Array based on values in an ArrayList

    How can I create an Array object which its values need to be obtained by iterating through an ArrayList and getting them one by one.
    In Detail:
    - I have an ArrayList of a StudentInfo object
    - Each StudentInfo contains an 'age' attribute.
    - I want to iterate through the ArrayList, retrieve each StudentInfo object, get
    the value of its age attribute and add it to the Array.
    Something like this:
    Integer[ ] ageNumbers;
    StudentInfo myStudentInfo= new StudentInfo ();
    for (Iterator it = myStudentInfo.iterator (); it.hasNext (); ) {
    myStudentInfo = (StudentInfo)it.next();
    myStudentInfo.getAge(); // this is where Im stock, not sure how to add this
    value to my ageNumbers array.
    Thanks very much for the help!

    But which is the ArrayList containing your StudentInfo ?
    StudentInfo contain information about only one student ?
    In this case
    ArrayList allstudents = retrieve all students....
    Integer[] ageNumber = new Integer(allstudent.size());
    for(int i=0; i< allstudents.size(); i++) {
      StudentInfo student = (StudentInfo)allstudents.get(i);
      ageNumber[i] = student.getAge();
    }

  • Best way to create an array of bound values (to the resourceManager for example)

    What's the best practice for creating an array (array collection) where each element is bound to another value?
    An example would be an array of error strings that are used by an application.  Each string needs to change as the resource manager changes.
    Passing a list of strings to a list control is another example.  These should get localized as well.

    Thats one way to do it.  Not nearly as efficient as using the Build Array, but it will work.

  • How to create an array containing shared variable values

    Hi
    I am trying to programmatically create an array containing shared variable values and their names.  I can get the variable names by supplying the process name to the get shared variable list function.  How do I then read the value of all the shared variable items returned?
    I have used a data socket open to open a connection to all variables when my program starts.  I then use datasocket read on the opened connections to write to an array.  This works fine until I try to write to one of the variables using a shared variable node.  The variables writes can take from 4secs to 2 mins.  When I remove the shared variable node again all is fine.  Also when I stop using the data sockets, all is fine.
    Is there a conflict between shared variable nodes and data socket writes to the shared variables?
    Can anyone help?  I cannot easily post example code because I am reading the variables from a Wago PFC (PLC) using OPC.

    Hi
    Sorry I forgot to mention the LabVIEW version, its 8.20.  I have tried saving the shared variable node as a sub VI and it makes no difference.
    Attached is a stripped down version of the software.  You will not be able to connect to the IO server because it requires some Wago hardware and software.  You may spot something I have done wrong with the I/O servers, variables or sub VI's.
    The main program that runs is called 'HMI Engine' in the 'Framework' folder.  There may be some other things in the project that aren't used in this example.  I have removed all but the variable connection part of the code.
    I hope someone can help!?
    Thanks

  • How do you create an array without using a shell on the FP?

    I want to be able to read the status of front panel controls (value, control box selection, etc.) and save it to a file, as a "configuration" file -- then be able to load it and have all the controls set to the same states as were saved in the file. I was thinking an array would be a way to do this, as I have done that in VB. (Saving it as a text file, then reading lines back into the array when the file is read and point the control(s) values/states to the corresponding array element.
    So how do I create an array of X dimensions without using a shell on the front panel? Or can someone suggest a better way to accomplish what I am after? (Datalogging doesn't allow for saving the status by a filename, so I
    do not want to go that route.)

    Thanks so much m3nth! This definitely looks like what I was wanting... just not really knowing how to get there.
    I'm not sure I follow all the icons. Is that an array (top left with 0 constant) in the top example? And if so, that gets back to part of my original question of how to create an array without using a shell on the FP. Do I follow your diagram correctly?
    If I seem a tad green... well I am.
    I hope you understand the LabVIEW environment and icons are still very new to me.
    Also, I had a response from an NI app. engineer about this problem. He sent me a couple of VI's that he threw together approaching this by using Keys. (I still think you are pointing to the best solution.) I assume he wouldn't mind m
    e posting his reply and the VI's for the sake of a good, thorough, Roundtable discussion. So here are his comments with VI's attached:
    "I was implementing this exact functionality this morning for an application I'm working on. I only have five controls I want to save, but they are all of different data types. I simply wrote a key for each control, and read back that key on initialization. I simply passed in property node values to the save VI at the end, and passed the values out to property nodes at
    the beginning. I've attached my initialize and save VI's for you to view. If you have so many controls that this would not be feasible, you may want to look into clustering the controls and saving the cluster as a datalog file.

    Place array constant on diagram, drag a double to it, r-click "add dimension". There, a constant 2D double array, a matrix.

    This code is badly broken. In addition to resizing the actual handle to hold the number of string handles you also would need to create the string handles itself before attempting to write into them. NumericArrayResize is the fucntion to use as it will either resize an existing handle (if any) or create a new one if the value is uninitialized (NULL).
    /* resize strarr to hold handles to NUMSTRINGS strings */
    err = SetCINArraySize((UHandle)strarr, 0, NUMSTRINGS);

  • Help! Want to read from a xl file and get an output voltage value!!!

    Hello..
    I`m a beginner, so please help..
    My program should output an voltage value that is read from an xl-file with one collum. The most important is that each values in the xl graph should be read per iteration. So that the file is read over time. I want to use this xl file to controll the output signal over time.
    Can anyone show me how this VI would look like, and what would the xl file look like??

    The easiest way to do this is to save your Excel file as a comma or tab separated text file and not the native Excel format. Then you can use Read From Spreadsheet File (on the File I/O palette). Using this, you can read the file all at once and then just have a 1D array that you can wire to a while or for loop so that with each iteration of the loop, you get one element in the array. A for loop automatically indexes an input array. Reading the file all at once will be more effecient that reading the file line by line.

  • How to create an array of indefined elements

    Hi. I need to write a program that store n number of elements in an array. The program have to ask the user to input some values, and it stops until the user says that he dont want to input more values.
    I have the following code:
    public class Controlador{
      private Contacto[] lista;
      private int contactoActual;
      private int continuar = 0;
      private Interfaz interfaz = new Interfaz();
      public Controlador(){

      public void insertarContacto(){

          persona.insertarNombre();
          persona.getNombre();
          persona.getTelefono();
          contactoActual++;
          lista[contactoActual] = persona;
          continuar = interfaz.mostrarContinuar();
        }while(continuar==1);
      }with this, I got an array out of bounds exception.
    Can somebody help?
    regards.

    Yes and no.
    Once you have created an array you cannot change its size. So if you create an array of size 10 and user wants to input 11 numbers, your progrm will crash. Hoever you can get around this by checking the size of the array before inserting. If the array is full, create another array that is bigger, copy all values from original array to new array and then insert the new number. All this requires a lot of work. Use a Collection such as an ArrayList so you don't have to worry about the size.

  • How to create an array variable

    Hi folks,
    I'm developing a flowN activity , for each branch created, I need to pass different values (values I get from DB).
    For this my plan would be,
    -create an array variable , load all the values(from DB) into the array
    -pass the array to each branch in flowN activity based on the index
    As I'm newbie to BPEL, I do not know how to create an array variable.
    Could you people guide me please.

    Hi,
    I created my string array like
    <element name="string_array">
    <complexType>
    <sequence>
    <element name="input" type="string" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"/>
    </sequence>
    </complexType>
    </element>
    <variable name="arr" element="client:string_array"/>
    I am able to add values to my array variable named as "arr"
    When I use the following code snippet, it gives my the value of the entire list.
    <%ora:getNodeValue(bpws:getVariableData('arr'))%>
    But when I try retireve values one by one like <%ora:getElement('arr','/client:string_array/client:input',[0])%>, its giving me error.
    Guide to get throu' this.

  • How to create an array in one field and have another field display certain elements from that array?

    I am making a form in Acrobat XI pro.
    In one text field, I created an array of several elements. I want other text fields to display certain elements from that array. For instance, one field should display the 3rd element, another field should display the 13th element, etc.
    The Javascript for making the array is very long, and so I don't want to have to re-calculate the array every single time (in order to reduce rendering time when I open the form on an iPad). This is why I'd like to only have to create the array once, and simply refer to it throughout the form.

    What code are you using to update the array currently? Are you completely rebuiding it when an element changes, or just changing specific elements for certain fields? I'm still not sure what exactly you are trying to do, but something like this in a document level script will create your array:
    var myArray;
    // Call 'updateArray' to initialize array
    updateArray();
    function updateArray() {
         // Code here to create/update array
         myArray = new Array();
         myArray[0] = "Value 1";
         myArray[1] = "Value 2";
         myArray[2] = "Value 3";
    Then, for each field that needs to update this array, you can add a call to 'updateArray()' in the appropriate event. This will rebuild the array completely; if you just want to update specific elements, then you can access them directly.

  • Displaying a picture from an array of pixel values

    I have a picture I want to display in an AWT frame. The picture is stored as several arrays of pixel values which represent rectangles.
    Each rectangle has a start co-ordinate and a height and width.
    There is a ColorModel associated with the pixel values, so that's not a problem.
    What's the best way to display these rectangles as pixels, and patch them all together to make the full picture? I'm currently trying to use a MemoryImageSource, but I'm having trouble displaying more than one rectangle at once, and the picture flickers like mad, suggesting MemoryImageSource intended for animation, whereas I just want to display the picture once.
    Any suggestions?

    OK, that looks good. I'm investigating it.
    However, It's not clear how to get the pixel values from an array into it. It requires a WriteableRaster of the pixel data, and to create a WriteableRaster, you need a DataBuffer... which is Abstract!
    Do you know how to make a DataBuffer from an array?

  • What is the best way to create diagonal array in order to avoid MEMORY IS FULL error created by using INITIALIZE ARRAY vi?

    Using the values in a 1D array, I need to place them along the diagonal of a 2D array. Currently, I've been using INITIALIZE ARRAY VI to create 2D array of zeroes and then usE REPLACE ARRAY SUBSET to put the 1D array values on the diagonal. I'd appreciate any advice on how to stop this from occuring.

    Sorry about the PDF. I had forgotten about the PRTSCN option. See the attached JPG.
    I'd send you an example input that is giving me problems but today, my computer seems to be behaving and the error hasn't popped up. This makes me believe that it's truly a memory problem with my machine.
    This VI is a subVI used in several computationally intensive applications.
    If you're still interested in playing with it, I will email it to you. Please send me your address. In fact, I see you're in the oil & gas industry and I'd like to hear what you're working on since I work in that industry as well.

  • Using an array to assign values to 36 radio buttons

    Okay, here's another doozy for y'all.
    As some of you know, I'm trying to create a character creation program for D&D. When we roll ability scores, we roll 3 sets of 6 rolls, rolling 4 six-sided dice, rerolling 1s and dropping the lowest number, then add the highest 3 rolled numbers together.
    Great! Got that part done!
    The next thing I'm having some issues with is transferring those numbers to radio button text property. What I have done is created a form that has the rolled values in listboxes so the user can see what was rolled. They can only choose one "set"
    of rolls, so each set of 6 rolls is in a separate listbox. I can get the values from the listbox to an array, but I can't figure out how to get the values from an array to the radio buttons on the next form in the program.
    The next form in the program has 6 group boxes, each labeled with a different ability score name (ie: Strength, Dexterity, etc.). Also in each group box are 6 radio buttons. Each radio button in each group box needs to have the same values. For example,
    the first listed radio button in each group box needs to have the first value listed in the list box on the previous page. The second listed radio button in each group box needs to have the second value listed in the list box, and so on. I want it
    to automatically load, but I'll settle for ANY load at the moment!
    The other thing is that I don't want to write 36 lines of code for each group box's radio buttons! I would like to be able to populate the values with a loop. So, the biggest question is how to create an array containing all 36 radio buttons, then assign
    my list box values to them according to their position in the multidimensional array.
    Here is a tidbit so you'll have an idea what I'm looking at.
    list box 1 has values 17, 18, 8, 12, 15, and 13. I want the radio buttons in each group box on the second form to be 17 for the 1st radio button, 18 for the 2nd radio button, 8 for the 3rd radio button, 12 for the 4th radio button, 15 for the 5th radio
    button, and 13 for the 6th radio button.
    Any ideas?

    The array of radio buttons:
    radGr1_1
    radGr1_2
    radGr1_3
    radGr1_4
    radGr1_5
    radGr1_6
    radGr2_1
    radGr2_2
    radGr2_3
    radGr2_4
    radGr2_5
    radGr2_6
    radGr3_1
    radGr3_2
    radGr3_3
    radGr3_4
    radGr3_5
    radGr3_6
    radGr4_1
    radGr4_2
    radGr4_3
    radGr4_4
    radGr4_5
    radGr4_6
    radGr5_1
    radGr5_2
    radGr5_3
    radGr5_4
    radGr5_5
    radGr5_6
    radGr6_1
    radGr6_2
    radGr6_3
    radGr6_4
    radGr6_5
    radGr6_6
    Those listed with “radGr1” are in the first group box labeled grpST, “radGr2” are in the second group box labeled grpDX, and so on (grpCN, grpIQ, grpWS, grpCH). What I want the code to do is change the labels of the radio buttons so that the text displayed
    in everything with a suffix of “_1” is filled with the first number in the selected listbox. For example, if I select the first list box, the other 2 are cleared and only the 6 numbers in the first one are used for the rest of the program. If those numbers
    are 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, and 11, then everything with _1 at the end should have “12”, everything with _2 should have “13”, and so on. What I don’t want to have to do is initialize 36 elements, then have 6 different selections for each group box. I tried to
    attach an image, but it wouldn’t let me…something about verifying my account or something…
    Can I suggest a different layout?  It seems like the status selection process is over-complicating the code... please consider this form layout:
    Once the user has selected the set of rolls they want you use, you can then just work with that single listbox.  The radio buttons let them select a particular stat and the listbox lets them select a value.  The "<-" button then assigns
    the selected value to the selected stat, and removes it from the listbox.  The "->" button clears the selected stat and returns the value to the listbox.  The code is something like:
    Public Class Form1
    Private Sub SetButton_Click(sender As Object, e As EventArgs) Handles SetButton.Click
    If ChosenRollsListBox.SelectedIndex > -1 Then
    Select Case True
    Case StrRadioButton.Checked
    If Not StrLabel.Text = "_" Then
    ChosenRollsListBox.Items.Add(StrLabel.Text)
    End If
    StrLabel.Text = ChosenRollsListBox.SelectedItem.ToString
    ChosenRollsListBox.Items.RemoveAt(ChosenRollsListBox.SelectedIndex)
    Case DexRadioButton.Checked
    If Not DexLabel.Text = "_" Then
    ChosenRollsListBox.Items.Add(DexLabel.Text)
    End If
    DexLabel.Text = ChosenRollsListBox.SelectedItem.ToString
