Create distribution .ipa file

Hello everyone,
I have searched in many places but didn't seem to have the luck to find an answer yet so here we are.
My question is, is it possible, or is there any way we can get the distribution ipa file for the app we created?
The reason why I'm asking is that we want to distribute the app internally without going through Apple.
We use another app that does the authentication, but this app will only take an .ipa file...
I would really appreciate any advice on this one.
Thanks everyone in advance!
Fiona

Hello Bob,
Thank you for getting back to me.
We do have the Enterprise DPS account, but since we plan not to distribute the app via Apple Appstore, do we still need the enterprise Apple dev account to do so?
Thanks again,
Fiona

  • Creating IPA file with Multiple SWF files using ADT

Iam successfully able to create ipa files using the ADT package but my next requirement is to create an IPA file with multiple swf files.I think it might be easy if your SWF files are regular the tough part is my swf file has lot of action script in it so the only option is to through the command prompt and using the ADT package of Adobe AIR.So now i have 10 SWF files like this and iam creating ipa file for each swf seperatly but now I want to put all of the swf files into one ipa file. Please let me know if i was not clear in my description

I think you are trying to explain how to load two swf's one with action

you read my requirement carefully.I have all the same type of swf's and
these swf are automatically created as a form of output for xcelsius dash
board software.Iam capable of creating individialu ipa files from these swf
files. So when I try to combine the same kind of swf files the first error
its giving is the file name which I have used in the xml.in the main file
name for the swf file its not considering the two swf file name in the
initial window.so the adt package in the command line is not understanding
the file name from the xml and the command prompt and giving error this swf

  • Single Edition - cant create .ipa file

I have a monthly subscription to the creative cloud, which from what I understand allows me to submit an app (create an .ipa file from InDesign for the App Store) withouth having to purchase a single edition serial number for DPS. I have reached the final stage in the DPS App Builder where I should be able to activate my .ipa file to test, but it is asking for a single edition serial number. I don't see anything downloadable from the creative cloud in this regard, and my InDesign was signed into my Adobe account when I exported my folio.
I am aware this is the same problem as described in a previous thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4786587#4786587 and i have tried those steps to remedy it, but nothing works. As soon as i get to the APP builder it asks me for a single edition serial number.
I have so far had nothing but trouble since subscribing to the cloud, with conflicting passwords (with previous dps account), unanswered support issues and other things. Please can someone just help me get past this issue with compiling this app.
For the record I am using InDesign 5.0 (previously owned prior to the cloud subscription), Does this perhaps have a bearing on anything?

I'm having the same problem. This was the first time that I used the Creative Cloud, and I made the mistake of using the wrong Adobe ID in DPS App Builder. I went through all the steps to the end in the wrong account, and now it is asking for a single edition serial number.
I then moved the folio to the right Adobe account, but I can't delete it from the first one, and when I try to "create app" in FB, nothing shows up in the App Builder.
this is a very frustrating experience, and one that I see is common. Why should Adobe staff have to hand-delete the app? Shouldn't I be able to do that?

  • Application Loader unable to unzip .ipa file

I am developing under Flash Professional CS5, working on a PC.  Using the development distribution files, my application builds and I can run it on iPhone, iPad, and iPod.  Now I am trying to get it to the App Store.  I have a distribution certificate which I got before Apple pulled the plug, and was able then to just change the extension to .zip and upload to the App Store (where of course it got stuck until now). This week I rejected my binary in the store, and built an updated version.  You can't just upload to the App Store any more; you need to use the Apple Application Loader. This, of course, only runs on a Mac.  So, I downloaded and installed the latest version on my Mac. transferred the .ipa to a memory stick, and gave it to the Loader.
I get this curt message    "Unable to unzip application"
I have tried renaming it to .zip.
I have tried extracting the Payload and zipping that up again (different error but still no good)
Has anyone else got any applications built on a PC uploaded recently?  Please tell what you did

I had almost the same problem. I'm on OS X though. I have my issue solved but it took a lot of trial and error. There were enough clues on this thread though to get me there so thanks everyone. Here's what I went through and what I've discovered:
    I compile with Flash CS5
(I was trying Christian's way on the commandline but I forget why I couldn't get it to work, must try it again now. ref:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/cantrell/archives/2010/09/packager-for-iphone-refresher.html)
This creates my .ipa file. I don't know if I need to use the commandline, but I did in order to rename the .ipa file to a .zip file. I then double clicked the .zip in the Finder which unzips it with the default OS X app, not 7 zip or something third party. This produces a folder called Payload. If my swf is set in Flash to publish to Main.swf, then inside Payload I see Main.app
I zip Main.app by right clicking it in the Finder and select the Compress option, again, default OS X compression stuff.
This is the correct way to create the ipa file, and produce the kind of zip file that Application Loader wants.
Along the way, I encountered some other distracting problems. I'll explain those now, but they are not related to the actual ipa/zip/unzip problem.
I had two errors, one about a bad bundle ID. This was in fact a typo I had by one letter. In my case it was ca.abcd.abcs in iTunes Connect, and in Flash CS5's settings, it was ca.abcd.abc. That was a forehead slapper I tell you.
The other error was my app not being signed with a proper certificate. I knew I was using my app store certificate, not my dev certificate (this is important btw). I tried revoking my certificate in the app store as @JimmyInteractive mentioned, but I don't think in my case this was necessary. I still had the same issue after revoking. Avoid this if you can because it's a pain in the a$$ to set up all your provisioning profiles again on iTunes Connect and in Keychain, XCode etc. Prior to trying to get everything up onto the app store, I had of course been developing on my personal device, with my developer certificate. What I forgot to do for app store distribution, is in Flash CS5 change Certificate to my app store .p12 file. I still had it set to my dev .p12 file. Doh!
After I did that and figured out the zipping stuff it all worked. Hope this helps!

  • Creating customised swf files using CF?

    Hi all.
This is a bit of an integration question.
Marketing create wonderful swf brochures using InDesign to
let them have those cool page turning features. They embed urls
into the document to invite the reader to "click to make a
    booking".
    Fine so far.
What they have asked me is if there is any way we can
dynamically build these brochures so that:
    a) clients can build their own and/or
    b) the urls can have some dynamic content
For the latter, they want sales consultants to be able to
generate a brochure and send it out and all URLs in that brochure
will include the consultant ID (for clickback tracking and other
    stuff)
I could do this easily enough using a PDF and CFDOCUMENT but
they want the final format to be SWF and to have all those
    page-turner extras.
Is this even possible at the current state of Adobe
    integration?
    Regards
    Neal

  • Can I test social sharing w/o generating an IPA file?

Is there a way that I can test social sharing behaviors without generating certificates for an IPA file? I would like to see how my articles are captured and how they look on social media before submitting the app to the apple store. I am hoping there is an easier way than creating an IPA file.
    Thanks!

    Found it.
I am learning why the refernce for JavaScript is 745 some odd pages.
There are system functions for Number of total Fields (numFields)
Name of any particular field    (getNthfieldName)
You can then use a loop to find the field that are marked as REQUIRED and that are EMPTY.
Works GREAT inside my "Build Summary" button.

  • Code doesn't behave the way it should when i create an ipa . However , if i flash the build directly from xcode it works fine ?

    Hi ,
I am creating an ipad application . When the app launches i am trying to get some data from server , and show it at the beggining .
It works perfectly fine when i run the app in simulator , and flash the build in ipad from Xcode .
However ,as soon i create an ipa file , install in ipad it doesnt works . Sometimes , it shows network issue , other times its able to give me the data but as soon i convert the data to JSON objet with NSJSONSerialization class , it returns nill .
Any clue on this abrupt issue ??

    Hi,
Are you loading the data in didFinishLaunching ??
If yes then that is the problem.
ios defines a specific time for app launch, if your app takes more than the allowed time, ios will crash the app.
Possible solution might be move the webservice call from there to some other suitable place, this will ensure that you app will launch regardless of any network issue, which can be handled later.

  • Export ipa file for an iPhone application

i did an application in flash cs5. i attached p12 certificate and provisining profile file. But when i choose "publish" for creating an ipa file, it is running. at the end, there is nothing. i look in folder. i see two files, one of them an tmp file, the other a folder  "AOT.....". it doesn't creat an ipa file. why ? what can i do ?
    please help me...

    one of two things...
    1. The publishing is still in progress. those files/folders are temp while the publishing is in progress and is usually cleaned up once it's done and the ipa is created.
    2. if the packaging fails or stops abnormally, then the temp files/folders don't get cleaned up and the ipa is not created.
Possible reasons (all of which I have had happen to me from time to time):
    1. I was having problems with publishing when spybot 2.0 beta was installed, it was Hooking java and causing it to crash. (system your systems application event log for possible java errors) (Flash uses a java compiler)
    2. You do not have enough memory... increase the size of the heap in your jvm.ini (just google it, there are tons of reference material on flash memory management)
    3. There is some code someplace in your project which is causing the compiler to crap out
If you can't figure it out, try doing a command line ADT build to see if it gives any additional errors that may be surpressed by flash (I've had that happen too)
    Good luck.

  • How to embed and launch ipa file from another ipa package created using Air for iOS

    Hi Guys,
Anybody out there knowing how to embed and launch ipa file from another ipa package created using Air for iOS ?
I am having 1 ipa file created using Xcode, Now i need to include that file in my ipa Package which is created using Flash CS 5.5 and Air for iOS. Also i need to know how to open my 1st ipa file from AS3 ?
    Thanks,

    Hi Sir,
    Thanks for your reply.
But in that case user need to download 2 applications right. I need user to download my parent application created using Flash and that package contain one more ipa created using Xcode, so from my parent app only user should able to open my 2nd app. Is there any way to do that?
Ps:  I am not talking about in-app but 2 individual apps inside one package.

  • Is there any simulator to test ipad iphone ipa files created with Adobe Director 12?

Is there any simulator to test ipad iphone *ipa files created with Adobe Director 12?

No. Luckily it is very quick to compile and test on the iPad. I've watched people using Flashbuilder and it seems to be a much more complex process.

  • Opening an .ipa file

Question, I'm just starting to dabble in XCode. I have an app in an .ipa file and wanted to know if there is a way to unzip the ipa so I can look inside the files that created the app?
I tried to do this in X Code and it gives me ( I would think its the developers id screen with the folders inside the payload only)
Is this even possible to open to see inside ( codes )?
    RD

Yes a .ipa is nothing more than a zip file.
Back in the day, way back in 2008 2009 early 2010 et... lol, you had to manually create them for distribution.
All you need to do is create a folder called "Payload"   (note the capital "P") copy your ios app to it and compress. Then you simply change the extention to .ipa
If you want to include the itunes artwork in the .ipa, copy you art to the same folder as "PayLoad" and rename your artwork file to "iTunesArtWork" then compress and rename .zip to .ipa
It's been quite a while since I had to do it manually, but I think the iTunesArtWork file does not get an extention.  You'll have to try it make sure.

  • Deploying ipa file via SCCM 2012 R2 / Intune

    Hello Experts,
We recently set up a Windows Intune Subscription in our Configuration Manager 2012 R2 Environment. The MDM part (Configuration Items) and deploying app store deep links is working without any problems.
In our company we have a native iOS App which is currently distributed via a website. (Not App Store!). I tried to distribute the app via configuration manager 2012 r2 but the app doesn't show up in the company portal even after a day. I made the following
    steps to distribute the app:
    1. Received the ipa and plist File from the Developer.
    2. Added the application to configuration manager 2012 r2
    3. Deployed the application to my intune user collection (DP: manage.microsoft.com / Purpose: Available)
Did i miss any importent step? One thing i can say is that the app is not signed with our APN Certificate which is used in the Intune Subscription. According to our developer this should not be neccessary?!
    Thanks for any advice.

I redeployed the app and the following entries were in the logs:

  • Cannot install ipa-File because of wrong signature

    Hello,
I would like to build an ipa-File with Viewer Builder for an iPad-Distribution.
I have configured the Folio in the Viewer Builder and downloaded the ipa-File with the correct Developer-Certificate/Provisioning profile and -Signature.
If I install the file on an iPad, that is included in the Certificate,I get the following error on the Xcode-Console:

I have created a new Provisioning profile and updated the Viewer Builder on version 2.0.1.
Do you have an idea how it will work?
    Thanks in advance.
    Stephan

What I forgot to mention: an update of Mac OS X (10.7.4) before it worked two weeks ago with the same signature and provisioning profiles already.
