Create DVD?

I've downloaded video from my digital camera, and used QuickTime Pro 7 to edit videos and use the edited clips to create one movie. Now I want to burn a DVD, but can't locate any instructions. I see how to prep for upload to internet (like you tube, i suppose), but I wanna play on TV for older generation who don't do computers. Need it on a DVD. Any suggestions are appreciated. My Grandpa is very ill and we'd like to show him this movie before he passes, so time is of the essence.

Quicktime (Pro) can't make DVD's. Your going to need a DVD authoring program for Windows.

  • Is there a way to create DVD chapters in iDVD?

Is there a way to create DVD chapters in iDVD? I don't see any options for it in iDVD. Also, I don't want to have to import all the footage back into imovie. Thanks

So, what if iDVD 7.1.2  doesn't recognize the chapters from iMovie 10.0.5?
Apple has removed the ability to create chapters in iMovie 10
I use iMovie 06 to do this. It works perfectly with Mavericks, as does iDVD.  You can purchase iMovie on disk as part of iLife 06, readily available on Amazon and eBay.
It's quite shocking that another feature has been removed from the once mighty iMovie.

Is it possible to create DVD Templates with Motion for burning Blue Ray DVDs from Final Cut Pro X?

As far as I know, motion templates can only be used with DVD Studio Pro. FCP X only lets you add a background image to the DVD menu.

  • Aspect ratio issue when watching 16'9 idvd created DVDs on regular players

I am having problems with the aspect ratio of any DVDs that I burn in iDVD as 16'9 - The original video is 16'9 and edited as such in FCP, then exported with current settings selected and then in iDVD I select a widescreen project - preview of the project is fine and when the DVD is done it plays with the correct aspect ratio if I watch on the computer's internal DVD player - but my issue is when I watch on any regular DVD player (on a widescreen tv of course) all the video looks tall and skinny, including the menu.  The only way I found to get the video to look like it's natural proportion is to switch the settings to 4'3 on the DVD player, then it creates almost a "super-widescreen" look where there are bars at the top and bottom of the screen.  On the otherhand, when i used to shoot in 4'3 and create DVDs as 4'3 projects, I NEVER had this problem when watching on a regular DVD player on widescreen TV!  It would take up the whole screen and look normal (I know it must stretch it to fit, but it wasn't noticable).  I thought creating a 16'9 video I should be able to watch on a widescreen TV and it should take up the whole screen and look normal.  Please help!

No, that is not the way it should work. This may help:

  • How to create DVD recovery on different language?

I bought Satellite 655-149 with windows 7 64bit turkish, I would like to install windows XP russian. How to create DVD disk with drivers?

    Hey,
I agree with the user above. The recovery disk that you create, contains the same language as preinstalled OS.
For example if an English version is preinstalled, the recovery disk contains only English language.
If you want another language you have to buy a new version of Windows 7.
Last but not least on Windows 7 Ultimate you can use different language packs:

  • Recommendations for creating dvd case inserts?

Hello! As far as I can tell, iDVD 6 has no feature for creating dvd case covers/inserts.
I'd appreciate recommendations for inexpensive or free software for making such covers.
    Thanks!
    David

You're welcome, David. I'm not familiar with all the Sharpie product line, but the common one that marks anywhere uses a fairly harsh solvent, and in theory could eat through to the reflective coating of the DVD. I found a Memorex product at Fry's Electronics named, "CD Marker." It is labeled non-toxic, water-based.
Personally, I've not had any problems with the sticky labels (I've used Memorex and CD Stomper labels for a few years) but there are some strong feelings opposed to their use (and I can imagine a problem could come up in 10-15 years). You can do a search in these forums; an alternative is printing directly onto the DVD if you have the right printer and disks.

  • Video from an already created DVD

Is there any way at all to remove video from an already created DVD into Final Cut?

Use MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5 (free software) to convert the media to something like ProRes 422, then import into FCP X.
But you need to download a Quicktime component (easy to do though).

  • Creating DVD Chapters from within DVD studio Pro

    Hey,
Is this possible? Can we create DVD chapters from within DVD Studio Pro?
    Chris

Yes, you can add chapter markers in the DVDSP timeline, although they are not frame accurate as they are in FCP. You'll typically get them within about half a second as they can only sit on a 'GOP' boundary, and these occur roughly every 15 frames equivalent.
To add a marker you move the playhead to where you want it and type the 'm' key, pretty much as in FCP.
The chapter marker then defines the start of a chapter for playback. You can manipulate the navigation such that only one chapter plays before you go back to the menu, or you can start at a marker and continue onwards. You can even create lists of markers that are not in track order and have playback jump about between them, although it's not always wise to do so!

  • How to create dvd/cd image using super drive in MacBook Air

I have MacBook Air and also Apple Supper drive for the same. can u help me to find dvd/cd burrning and copy software. and also guide me "how to create dvd/cd image using super drive in MacBook Air"

First to create a video DVD you need to use DVD authoring software like iDVD.  You can purchase it from the online Apple Store while supplies last.
For creating a disk image use Disk Utility.
To burn items to a CD or data DVD just insert the disc in the optical drive and drag those items onto the disc icon on the Desktop.  Then drag the disc icon to the Trash icon in the Dock which changes to a Burn icon.

  • Will iDVD Disk Image work for creating DVD's on PC

I created a disk image of video that I have made DVD's from. I want to send the disk image to friends to create DVD's but they have PC's. Is there a way for them to use that disk image to make CD's? What programs would they use? etc.

    Hi Parrish Jones
Welcome to apple discussions. The good news is that a disc image burned through iDvd is identical in content to the finished dvd. So if your friend can use the video_ts folder to create a new dvd (on his choice of PC Dvd burning software) then there shouldn't be a problem. At worst you may have to first provide him/her with a burned iDvd rather than the disc image (depending on weather or not s/he can read said image on a PC).
I personally use Roxio Toast to burn the disc image to Dvd-R. And Roxio also make a PC version of this software called Roxio Creator. Although I've read the PC version for Windows Vista isn't nearly as good as the Mac version. (why I don't know).
    http://www.roxio.com/enu/products/creator/system-requirements.html
Most folks who run Windows Vista / burn Dvd's on a pc do not necessarily use Roxio products as opposed to Nero or CDBurnerXP (and there are other alternatives also listed below for the PC).
    http://cdburnerxp.se/download.php
    http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/the-best-free-alternatives-to-nero-cddvd-burner/
Your choice (or rather your friend's choice).

Hope the above links help but if not just come on back. And good luck.

  • Create DVD button not working

My "Create DVD" button is not clickable.was working fine for weeks. Had a "QMaster" problem but downloaded Digital Rebellion to fix it. Now, the QMaster issue is no longer BUT the Create DVD button cannot be clicked.Dragged the Compressor icon to the trash and reinstalled, same problem. Have rebooted and tried again, same problem.is killing
    Time deadline of course...ugh!
    Thank you

Sorry, didn't know that would be relevent since it worked for a month.
Compressor 4.1.3 and FCPX 10.1.3 -- Have not had any previous versions...have had them both installed for about a months.
Latest info: received help but problem not solved. I CAN make a DVD from inside FCPX using the export command. Tech suggested QMaster files corrupt and removed the two QMaster files and placed them on my desktop so software would not find them and would recreate them. Rebooted system. Still cannot click "create dvd" inside Compressor.

  • Receive 'runtime error: Unknown exception' w/99% processed when creating DVD from movie

    Hi,
I have tried several times to create a DVD of a movie with several Scene (w/Stop) Markers only to receive 'runtime error: Unknown exception' with 99% completion.
    I'm using Adobe Premiere Element 11 ver 11.0 (20120901.B261.425551).
    I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate w/SP1 on a Dell XPS M1530 w/4GB Memory
I have created DVDs in the past with little or no problems.
Would appreciate any help with my problem.
    Thanks...

    Harry
    Thanks for the additional information.
Typically, if you are doing a multi movie Timeline and you want the viewer to be able to navigate to a specific movie followed by return to main menu, then:
Main Menu Marker at beginning of movie 1 and Stop Marker at end of movie 1....then gap of at least 12 frames...Main Menu Marker at beginning of movie 2 and Stop Marker at end of movie 2....and so on. But for the last, remember no Stop Marker at the end of that last Movie on the Timeline.
With those 25 .mts video clips, are you sure that you want or need all those return to main menu possibilities.... a scene marker at the beginning of each and a stop marker at the end of each for a return to menu after each of the 25 video clips? Especially if these are small video clips.
    Large project...
Keep in mind that the DVD disc 4.7 GB/120 minutes is in reality 4.3 GB capacity. So as you can tell my the program's lowering of the Bitrate (8.00 to 7.97 Mbps), the program is trying to make the fit by lowering the bitrate. Depending on how your troubleshooting goes, you may want to start thinking about DVD Double Layer Disc (8.5 GB/240 min) if your project gets much larger. In the case of the DVD double layer, 8.5 GB is in reality 7.3 GB. Typically, lower the Bitrate, the lesser is the Quality of the end product. So you do not want to force the program to lower the Bitrate to low to make the fit.
As for the Timeline - + slider to which I referred...
In the above screenshot, please note in the right side of the Premiere Elements 11 Timeline (Expert view)...from left to right at that location,
    the Render Button
the icon named "Fit to Visible Timeline
the icon named Zoom Out ( - ) which is related to the slider to its right
the icon named Zoom In ( +) which is related to the slider to its left
That slider is moved by either of those icons or by moving the circular button of the slider with the mouse curser.
We will be watching for further developments.
    Thanks.

  • How can i create dvds on my new mac book pro

I just purchased a new mac book pro retina and cant create dvds?

Apple decision to remove iDVD will deter me from recommending Mac to fellow Windows users.
Many other Mac users feel the same way.

Now that my newly bought Mac does not provided a avenue for me to burnt DVDs, I am
    really disappointed.
If you are still within your 15 day return period.  Call Apple they will sent out iDVD at no charge.  (There are no realistic substitutes.)
Nicely explain that you may return the computer without iDVD. That usually does the trick.  You MUST speak to a senior advisor to get a free copy. The first tier people cannot do it.

If that doesn't work you can purchase iLife 11  (includes iDVD) on disk.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.

How can I create DVD label using Photoshop Elements 10?
    Richard

You can create the design for a DVD label in Create>More Options. Once you have the label set up, you would copy it to a template for the labels you plan to use. (The PSE template makes one label, while most printed labels are two-up.)
