  • Custom icon for desktop shortcut

    Hi All,
    I have a link in the portal which when the end users click should create a desktop shortcut to the portal.
    I used this to create the desktop shortcut
    var WshShell = new ActiveXObject("WScript.Shell");
    strDesktop = WshShell.SpecialFolders("Desktop");
    var oShellLink = WshShell.CreateShortcut(strDesktop + "
    Portal.url");
    oShellLink.TargetPath = "URL to the portal";
    oShellLink.Save();
    By default we get the IE icon for this shortcut. I want a custom icon to be associated with this shortcut.
    I can use oShellLink.IconLocation but the icon needs to be in every users c:\windows folder.
    Does somebody know how can I add this custom icon?
    Many Thanks,
    Akhilesh

    rajlego,
    in the Keyboard pane of System Preferences, select the Shortcuts tab, and then select Mission Control on the left-hand side. On the right-hand side, make sure that the Mission Control checkbox is checked, double-click on its current key combination (by default “^↑”) so that the key combination is highlighted, and then press the F3 button — that will set its shortcut to be F3. You can now press F3 to bring up Mission Control without needing to also press the Fn button.

  • How do i create a new keyboard shortcut for an action?

    I have created an action to "Save as PostScript." Can I create a keyboard shortcut or am I only allowed to use the "start" button in the action menu? Sure would be great to be able to have a shortcut....

    No, there's not a way to create custom keyboard shortcuts.
    There sort of is if you can do what you need to do via JavaScript by creating a custom menu item and using the key combination to access the menu item, on Windows anyway. For example, in Acrobat 11 you can export to PS on Windows by typing Alt+F+H+M+P (not much of a shortcut), but you could reduce the number of key by setting up a custom menu item, and it could automatically save it in a particular directory with a file name that's determined by the script. So you could avoid the Save As prompt.

  • Make Alias for Keyboard Shortcut?

    How can I create a clickable alias for a keyboard shortcut, e.g. something like the Mission Control app where I click the icon in Finder or the dock and I trigger a global behavior normally activated by a keyboard shortcut?

    If the keyboard shortcut actually launches a file or program, then you might be able to determine what that is and put it in the Dock.
    You could also create and Applescript Application using the System Events dictionary to type the command.
    See this article: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3690167/how-can-one-invoke-a-keyboard-shortcu t-from-within-an-applescript

  • How can I create a new keyboard shortcut to toggle load images automatically preferrably with one action?

    I switch the load images automatically selection back and forth in order to save on my 5GB monthly data plan. Is there a utility that would allow me to create a macro of multiple keystrokes to do this with one action? Something like the macro function in Excel? Or is there another way to do this more easily than going to tools, options and clicking on the box? I don't see a shortcut for this item in the standard keyboard shortcuts list

    Hi,
    You could try [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/image-block/?src=search Image Block]. Please also go through the reviews, help and ratings. You can also try to search for similar add-ons via Firefox '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Add-ons''', Search box on the top right corner, or via the official [https://addons.mozilla.org/ AMO].

  • How to add/create a new keyboard ShortCut?

    There is no shortcut to color code or label an image for purple, if there is one I have not found it.  If you know of one, please send it & presuming there isn't one, what are the steps for creating one or modifying one to apply it as desired?
    Thanks

    Interesting, Adobe failed to include a shortcut for the fifth color label, and the Keyboard Tamer plugin doesn't know about shortcuts for color labels (perhaps because LR doesn't follow its own conventions for label shortcuts). But you can set your own shortcut by editing the file:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3.4\Resources\<language>\TranslatedStrings.txt
    and adding the following line:
    "$$$/AgLibrary/Menu/Photo/Label/Toggle5Shortcut=Ctrl+9"
    I don't the precise path of this file on the Mac, but you should be able to figure it out.

  • Creating a new keyboard shortcut

    Hi there,
    Can anyone tell me how to create a keyboard shortcut for a function that is not on the shortcut list in CS5? I want to make a keyboard shortcut for adjusting the 'space after' a paragraph.
    Thanks very much,

    It's a little non-trivial.
    First you have to write a script that implements that function. Then you can assign a shortcut in Keyboard Shortcuts by finding your script in the Scripts area.
    The good news is that changing the space after for a paragraph is a pretty trivial script.
    For instance, this script:
    app.selection[0].paragraphs.everyItem().spaceAfter=0.5
    sets the Space After of every paragraph of the first selected item to 0.5 in the current vertical units. It's a bit more complicated if you want it to work on every selected item (e.g. you select two independent textframes), but it works fine if you highlight multiple paragraphs in a single frame. It also doesn't do any error checking, so you'll get errors if you run it with, say, a rectangle selected, because rectangles don't usually have a paragraphs.
    You could fix these limitations, but it's probably not worth the bother?
    What do you do with the script? Save it as spaceAfter.jsx (or whatever) in your favorite text editor and follow the directions at How to Install InDesign Scripts to put it where InDesign can see it.

    Hello,
    It seems that you want to add an icon for your application to be used as a shortcut or an icon located in quick start explorer.
    You could add that icon with the following way.
    How to: Specify an Application Icon (Visual Basic, C#)
    In addition, we should pay attention to the icon format for different systems and different DPI modes.
    You could refer to the following thread.
    Which icon sizes should my Windows application's icon include?
    The following format works for both windows 8 and windows 7.
    Windows 7:
    Explorer views:
    Details / List / Small symbols: 16
    All other options: 256 (resized, if necessary)
    Right-click->Properties / choosing a new icon: 32
    Pinned to taskbar: 32
    Right-click-menu: 16
    Desktop:
    Small symbols: 32
    Medium symbols: 48
    Large symbols: 256 (resized, if necessary)
    Zooming using Ctrl+Mouse wheel: 16, 32, 48, 256

    Carl

  • How to change the icon for a shortcut on the desktop

    I created a shortcut on the Desktop (dragging a safari url-icon to the desktop) but the icon showing is a safari icon.
    The website has a specific icon, as displayed as the first item (icon) on the url bar in front of the website-URL.
    I located the specific icon on the website (favicon.ico), opened it and copied the icon (copy paste).
    Then I opened the properties screen for my shortcut (at the Desktop) (control click on link) .
    Now I am supposed to copy the new icon (from my Clipboard)  into the properties of the Desktop URL, but how do I do that?

    You can change the favicon for a folder but not  a specific Safari url.
    Click a clear space on your desktop then go to the Finder menu and click File > New Folder
    Move Safari url shortcuts to that folder.
    Then copy and paste the icon for the folder.

  • How can I create my own keyboard shortcut

    Hi, Can somebody please tell me how to create my own keyboard shortcut

    Go to System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts.
    Click the item Application Shortcuts in the left pane.
    Then click the + button underneath the right pane. Follow the prompts. You can choose to have the shortcut applicable to all applications, or just to a single one.
    Note - you can create a shortcut only for an item which is already an existing menu item.
    If you want to change an existing shortcut, by selecting the appropriate software in the left pane you can change the keyboard command in the right pane - just click the keyboard shortcut at the right end of the listed shortcut.

  • Gnome 3 - command for shutdown dialog (need for keyboard shortcut)

    I'd like to create a keyboard shortcut for shutdown dialog; it's the dialog that appears when press your username (top-right corner) and then select "Shut down..." option. There was "gnome-session-save --shutdown-dialog" or something similar in Gnome 2 (or so it seems by reading forum posts), but the same command doesn't exist in Gnome 3.
    I'm not rebooting or shutting down my OS a lot, but when I do, I'm automatically trying to press some keyboard shortcut.

    I started digging around more and found this option in System Settings/Power: "When the power button is pressed: Ask me". But, it doesn't work for me, because OS doesn't detect power button on my thinkpad. So it seems that I have to install acpid, but I still need to know the command for Gnome's shutdown dialog.
    EDIT:

  • Can't figure out where "up arrow" command on Mac for keyboard shortcuts.

    You guys helped me fix the presets in LR, but now I have to go and do each image by hand.  When I go to "photo" in the library module, then to "develop settings," and then to "reset," it shows a keyboard shortcut of an up arrow, the apple command and R.  I have never figured out where that stupid arrow is on my MAC keyboard.  I would appreciate your help with this one also.  I have several thousand photos to get thru.   Many thanks for your willingness to share your expertise!!!!

    In System Preferences>Keyboard>Shortcuts , I choose App Shortcuts and go to select my application, but it's in a subfolder, and I don't see the subfolder available to click to go inside and find my app.  Is this a bug, or is there a command key I should be using?
