Create Insert comand joining variables

Hi, I'm having a problem, I want to create a execute immediate with the following code
The variable v_values as the values that i want to insert in the table, but i need to add the ' in the beggining and in the end ','' because the value of the variable looks like this:
1','1','','10-11-2004
QRY_INS := ('INSERT INTO TABOWN.GFNT02PD_PGMNT VALUES(''' || v_values || ''', '''')');
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE QRY_INS;
when i execute the command the result fo the qry_ins variable is like this:
INSERT INTO TABOWN.GFNT02PD_PGMNT VALUES('1','1',,TO_DATE('10-11-2004', 'DD-MM-YYYY'),'
the problems is because the ') comes down one line and the value for the last column becames too long, i already tries the rtrim but it didn't work.
thanks

Yep, you don't need dynamic SQL here at all. You're trying to take a shortcut and what you've done is given yourself a massive headache because of single-quote issues, and given your database a headache because of all those literals you're trying to embed in an insert statement.
The right way to handle this is to parse the values into separate variables (or array elements) and supply them as part of a static insert statement.
Here's some code that parses a delimited string into a string array and then uses the values in a static insert statement.
sql>CREATE OR REPLACE package pkg_split
  2  is
  3    type string_array is table of varchar2(32) index by pls_integer;
  4
  5    function f_string_table(p_list in varchar2) return string_array;
  6  end;
  7  /
Package created.
sql>CREATE OR REPLACE package body pkg_split
  2  is
  3
  4    function f_string_table(
  5      p_list in varchar2)
  6      return string_array
  7    is
  8      v_string  varchar2(256) := p_list || ',';
  9      v_pos     pls_integer;
10      v_data    string_array;
11    begin
12      loop
13        v_pos := instr(v_string, ',');
14        exit when (nvl(v_pos, 0) = 0);
15        v_data(v_data.count + 1) := trim(substr(v_string, 1, v_pos - 1));
16        v_string := substr(v_string, v_pos + 1);
17      end loop;
18      return (v_data);
19    end f_string_table;
20
21  end;
22  /
Package body created.
sql>declare
  2    v_list varchar2(256) := 'horse,pig,cow,dog';
  3    v_arr  pkg_split.string_array;
  4  begin
  5    v_arr := pkg_split.f_string_table(v_list);
  6    insert into t (a, b, c, d) values (v_arr(1), v_arr(2), v_arr(3), v_arr(4));
  7  end;
  8  /

  • Programmatically creating a Rendezvous : missing variable in Result container

    Hi everybody,
    For my tests purpose, I need to programmatically create a sequence. In this sequence, I need to insert Rendezvous steps.
    Everything works fine when creating them, but when I execute the sequence / steps created this error always show up for rendezvous step :
    Unknown variable 'TimeoutOccured' ; Error accessing item 'Result.TimeoutOccured'
    According to the TS help, this variable should be created when I configure the step for the rendezvous operation. Drag and dropping the step from the TS insertion palette works fine, and the variable is created when chosing the operation 'rendezvous'. But when doing the same thing through programmation, the variable is not created.
    Here are the steps executed to create the RDV step :
    I create a new step using method Engine.NewStep
    I set the step name using Step.Name
    I set the rendezvous properties using a statement (Parameters.BranchesRendezVous.RDVStep is the variable holding the the step reference) :
    Parameters.BranchesRendezVous.RDVStep.AsStep.Operation = 1, //A value that specifies the operation for the step to perform. The valid values are 0 = Create, 1 = Rendezvous, and 2 = Get Status
    Parameters.BranchesRendezVous.RDVStep.AsStep.NameOrRefExpr = Parameters.BranchesRendezVous.RefName, //Contains the Rendezvous Name expression for the Create operation and the Rendezvous Name or Reference expression for all other Rendezvous operations
    Parameters.BranchesRendezVous.RDVStep.AsStep.TimeoutEnabled = False, //The Timeout Enabled setting for the Rendezvous operation
    Parameters.BranchesRendezVous.RDVStep.AsStep.ErrorOnTimeout = True, //The Timeout Causes Run-Time Error setting for the Rendezvous operation
    Parameters.BranchesRendezVous.RDVStep.AsStep.RendezvousCountExpr = Parameters.NbBranches, //The Number of Threads Per Rendezvous expression for the Create operation
    Parameters.BranchesRendezVous.RDVStep.AsStep.Lifetime = 3, //A value that specifies the Lifetime setting to use for the Create operation. The valid values are 0 = Same as Sequence, 1 = Same as Thread, 2 = Use Object Reference, and 3 = Same as Execution
    4. Then I insert the step in my current sequence using method Sequence.InsertStep
    Everything works fine, the rendezvous step is perfectly created and all properties are set finely. However, the variable TimeouOccured is missing in the Step.Result container (TS help says that this propoerty exists when the step is configured as a rendezvous operation (cf. Operation = 1)).
    Am I doing something wrong somewhere ? Why is this variable missing ?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Doug,
    TS help says that this property exists when the step is configured as a rendezvous operation (cf. Operation = 1)... So shouldn't it be created when I create / insert the step ?
    I find it very weired to add a subproperty to a StepType, in the Result container...

  • Re:- XMII is there a way todynamically create local or transaction variable

    Dear all,
    Is there a way to create local or transaction variable dynamically inside the BLS transactions.
    I have a scenario where in i am reading the XMl document and based on the number of node (sub node ) items i need to temporary save those values into transaction variable .  I want to use these saved transaction variable tvalues o later insert into database

    After reading your second post, I wonder why you want to temporarily store the separate values from the XML node in a local property.
    If you already have all values available in a XML, than it would be easier to process the XML directly in MII, as that is what MII does best. MII can directly access the node values and use it as input for your databse inserts. Using a repeater action, you can process 0 to n nodes. Use XPath to transfer the node values to the query parameters.
    Is this the option you are looking for, or do I miss something?

  • OBIEE error: Getting error in creating cross database joins

    Hi,
    We are trying to create a cross database join in OBIEE.
    CHild table is on SQL server and we are using ODBC 3.5 call interface to connect.
    Parent table is in Oracle
    11.2.0.3.0
    Each table can be queried separately. Main task required was to fetch records from Oracle based on records returned by SQl server (Query based on other saved request).
    The count of inner query got increased to 30,000 due to which we got too many records in IN predicate error.
    Now while creating cross database join between Oracle and SQL server we are getting following error:
    [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occured. ODBC state: 37 000
    code: 102 message: [microsoft][ODBC SQL Server driver][SQL Server] Incorredt Syntax near 'Session'
    [nQSError: 16015] SQL statement execution failed.

    Hi,
    Could you give a bit more of context for this case? The table in SQL server; Is it a dimension and the one in Oracle DB is a fact? I am guessing, you have set up the driving table here. Have you given a try taking it off, and let BI Server do the filter in memory?

  • How to create a Hierarchy Node Variable to be used in Infopackages ?

    Hello,
    I use BW 3.5.
    I need to create a hierarchy node variable (filter) to be used further in Infopackages as OLAP Variable.
    How can I do ?
    Please give a step-by-step answer,
    Thank you very much,
    Thomas

    Hi Again,
    You can use ABAP program in the process chain.
    I guess there are some OS level commands in ABAP which will allow you to open, close, read , write and move files.
    Serach in ABAP help or on net.
    Bes regards,
    Sunmit.

    Hi Shahina,
    1. Create formula variable var1 from to date using replacement path.
    2. Create another formula variable var2 for current date using customer exit or you can use standard
    formula variable for current date
    3. Create calculate key figure ckf using var1 & var2.
    ckf = var1 - var2.
    Thanks == points

  • ALERTS: Is it possible to create a new container Variable in Existing alert

    Hi PI Experts,
    I have a existing alert ZTEST defined in ALRTCATDEF. Now I want to create a new container variable PONUM to ZTEST in a UDF and populate it with a value coming in the payload. I have defined an alert rule for this alert and this alert will get triggered for any IE and AE msg failures for my sedner & interface combination. I tried calling the RFC SALERT_CREATE from my UDF by making RFC lookup and passed PONUM as Element and value from a fileld in Value element. If a msg failed in PI, two alerts are getting triggered. One for the alert rule I defined and other because of the RFC lookup (SALERT_CREATE). The one raised from alert rule does'nt contain the PONUM value I passed fron UDF and the one called from SALERT_CREATE does'nt contain the existing container variables defined in ZTEST (like SXMS_MSG_GUID, SXMS_FROM_SERVICE etc).
    Please let me know, how can I raise only one alert for any msg failures for my sender & interface combination. Inaddition to the usual container elements (SXMS_MSG_GUID, SXMS_FROM_SERVICE etc) my alert should also contain a variable containing the PONUM (from the incoming payload).
    Thanks,
    Raki

  • How to create an user input variable for customer exit variable? - BW3.5

    Hi Guru,
    I have a requirement for the selection period of my reports. There are 3 possible reporting periods which should be user selectable:
    1. Month: Current reporting month
    2. Fiscal Year to Date
    3. Project Year to Date
    Here I need 2 variable to do these, 1 customer exit and 1 user input variable. I have created a variable customer exit to calculate all these requirement. But can any1 tell on how to create the user input variable for my customer exit? I need a user input variable with drop down list like below.
    01-Current month
    02- Fiscal Year to Date
    03-Project Year to Date
    I have create a new master data for this variable, but it's not working. What I need now is a standalone master data which do not need to link to any exiting records. Can any1 tell me how to create this?

    Just go to the definition of the variable for which you have created a customer exit. There you will find a check box for "Ready for Input". Just tick that checkbox and the variable will be available as a selection variable in the reports selection screen.

  • How to Commit before Insert Row when Press Create Insert Button ?

    Hi all;
    I'm Using JDev 11.1.1.2.0
    How to Commit before Insert Row when Press Create Insert Button in ADF11g?
    <af:commandButton actionListener="#{bindings.CreateInsert.execute}"
    text="CreateInsert"
    disabled="#{!bindings.CreateInsert.enabled}"
    id="cb8" />
    best regards;

    You need to do a custom method eather in managed bean or in Application module to do that.
    in managed bean it would be something like:
    public void CommitAndInsert(ActionEvent actionEvent) {
    OperationBinding opCommit = ADFUtils.findOperation("Commit");
    opCommit.execute();
    OperationBinding opCreateInsert = ADFUtils.findOperation("CreateInsert");
    opCreateInsert.execute();
    In page bindings Commit and CreateInsert must exist
    then the button actionListener will be
    <af:commandButton actionListener="#{backing.CommitAndInsert}"

  • Can we create a multiple joins in physical layer

    Hi,
    I have a requirement that i want to create a multiple joins in physical layer.
    Ex:
    Table a (custid,name,sal) and tableb (custid,ced_id, loc)
    i had requirement that cust id is joining with custid and cedid from table b
    i.e a.custid=b.custid AND
    a.custid=b.ced_id (Note data types are same across all the joins here).
    When am trying to handle it form physical joins, getting an issue that The column'cusid' is used twice.
    Regards,
    Malli

    As Daan said use complex join in physical layer that should work. Just in case its not working then go with 1 join condition physical layer and create foreign key join in BMM layer, this would override join in physical layer.

  • How to create/use SAP Exit variable of Query designer

    Hello experts,
    Can you please guide me on how to create/use SAP Exit variables ?
    Is there any way we can transport customer exit include in which we write all codes related to customer exit variables?
    Kindly provide your valuable inputs on this.
    Thanks,
    Mitesh

    Hello Gautam,
    I think you should first implement the user-exit via the transaction SMOD/CMOD and the SAP-Enhancement RSR00001 User-Exit ( BW Reporting )
    For the concrete implementation I would suggest to encapsulate the variables, as it is described here
    Easy implementation of BEx-Userexit-Variables
    and here: BEx-Userexits reloaded
    Kind regards,
    Hendrik
