Create JAVA link in Crystal Report Viewer?
We are looking at using Crystal for Reporting and are trying to determine if within a Crystal Report we can place data that is created as a Java link. Lets say a dollar amount in the report...can it be created with a Java link attached that will call off and run another quick report/drilldown to return more detail information?

Yes,that is certainly possible.You can create a link which will be treated as object n report and then you need to create hyperlink for that specifying detail location of another object.

Recently our Clients have updated to Windows 7 and IE8. we are having issues to view the Reports in Infoview.
The web server operating server is Windows 2003, Crystal Reports XI Release 2 and BOE R2 SP2 is installed in it. Activex Viewer is downloading fine in client machine having Windows XP OS (IE Version is 7) but for the same url ActiveXViewer.cab is not getting downloaded in Windows 7 Enterprise (IE Version is 8). I'm using Crystal Reports Server XI and getting the error/pop up box: "Crystal Report Viewer is unable to create its resource objects" when trying to view a report through the website.
Any suggestions would be appreiciated. I'm very unfamiliar with Crystal Reports but it's fallen into my lap to install and suppor this application.
I have tried changing some browser settings to allow ActiveX content and such but that hasn't seemed to help. I also tried downloading a particular 3 .dll's files to my desktop and registering them, as well as re-registering them on the server. They were CRVIEWER.dll, swebrs.dll, sviewhlp.dll.
I'm using IE 7.0 and CR Server XI is installed in a Windows 2003 R2 SE server. IIS seems to be setup OK. I haven't changed any of the default installation settings that were configured during the installation on the virtual directory that was created. I received no errors during the installation. I'm also not seeing anything obvious pop up in the event logs. I still have yet to do a log parser query looking for anything that says crystal reports.

This issue might be better addressed by our .NET development forum, however, some of the things that come to mind are:
1. As a test are you able download the Active X Viewer from the client machine by accessing it via a URL:
http:// <yourserver>/crystalreportviewers/ActiveXControls/ActiveXViewer.cab
Does it prompt you do download the .CAB file?
2. If you have more than one version of the Active X Viewer installed on the client machine, go through this SAP Note (1215398) from the Service Market Place to remove it.
3. Check your browser settings (Tools|Security|Custom Level) to make sure Active Controls are set to at least prompt.
4. Confirm with your network administrator if there are group policies that restrict the installation of Active X Controls or if users do not have the rights to install.

InfoView Default Crystal Report Viewer to Java
Anyone know how to do set the Infoview Crystal Report Viewer to Java as default in R3.1 ? We can do it from R2 CMC but not anymore since upgrade.
Our client computer doesn't allow ActiveX download.

Did you tried by setting in InfoView itself.
After logged in to InfoView, select the Preferences option and choose Crystal report as a reporting type.
Here you can set the default viewer type when CR report is opened.

Error while running Java application using Crystal Reports 2011
Hello,
I would like to ask for your help.
Environment details:
Java based standalone application in Development environment.
Crystal Reports 2011 (no SP applied)
Oracle 11g ( 32 bit client installed)
Win7 64 bit OS.
Workflow:
While running the java application, which will display the reports I am getting the below mentioned error. I guess that is because I am missing the Crystal runtimes (Correct me if I am wrong).
I know that CR2011 do not have any sdks/ jar available for deployment. In this case, which runtimes should I be using? Does installing CR2011 be enough in the development box?
Please provide me the link from which I can download the same.
Let me know if I need to provide more details on this. Any suggestions are most welcome.

Crystal Report Viewer integration with Sharepoint 2010
We had a requirement in our project to view crystal report off an hyper link embedded into sharepoint web part developed using ASP .NET. The report accepted few parameters from the sharepoint page and passed those on to the SQL server to retrive data and
display the data in the report. The challenge was to open the report in the web browser.
The first difficulty was to find the right control to use, the report viewer tool that comes with Visual Studio 2010 is not the right one to use to view Crystal reports, I realised this after spending half a day trying to figure out why wouldn't the report
load. I then downloaded the Crystal Report Viewer for VS 2010 Standard from http://www.businessobjects.com/jump/xi/crvs2010/us2_default.asp. After you install this, you get the crystal report viewer in your toolbar. All you have to do is drag and drop it on
to the web part and configure it to use your report. If any one needs help with this let me know I will show how to do that.
So far so good. The biggest challenge was to deploy this on to the production server which took better part of 3 days to figure out how its done. If you deploy the WSP file as it is expecting that the crystal DLLs would be embedded in it then be ready to
expect a rude shock because it isn't. Here are the steps -
1. Deploy the WSP to the sharepoint server
2. Install the crystal dlls used in the project (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll, CrystalDecisions.ReportSource.dll, CrystalDecisions.Shared.dll, CrystalDecisions.Web.dll) into the GAC using GacUtil command
3. Add following entries to Web.Config file (C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\80\web.congif)

i am able to do this. however the crystal report is again asking to provide the prompts which i already given in Webi.which should not happen.
So how to achieve this scenario in Webi.

How to print directly to Printer from Crystal Report Viewer ?

We are integrating our Java Web Application with Crystal report XI, currently using JRC and export to PDF for user to preview and print to local printer.
Now there is new requirement :
Some clients is using thin client terminal (no harddisk, only has OS +Browser in ROM), so I cannot install Acrobat Reader for them to preview&print the report.
So I am looking at Crystal Report Viewer, the question is : Can I print from Crystal Report Viewer directly to local printer without first converting it to PDF (because I can't have acrobat reader installed) ??

How can I get Crystal Report Viewer 2008 to view boe xi r2 sp4 rpts
we're getting an error when trying to open a report generated out of boe xi r2 sp4....the report does have "save data" with report.... I send to myself via email, save the rpt but when I try to open on a machine with viewer installed....it tries and gets to the end and presents an 'unexpected error' with detail:

***???Problem here: CRViewer11.ViewReportYou will have to use the Crystal Reports Report Designer Component (craxdrt.dll). Before you do however, it may be good to know that CR XI r2 is the last version of CR that includes the craxdrt.dll as this is considered to be a retired technology in CR 2008. This may impact your efforts as the life cycle of the app may be limited(?).

How can I download the Crystal Report Viewer XI
We need a way for users who recieve .rpt files as email attachements distributed from BOE XI R2 to be able to view the reports and use drill-down functionality without being able to edit the report.
I found the Crystal Reports Viewer XI R2 release notes at help.sap.com but need to know from where to download so that we can install on users' machines. The note references CRViewerXI.exe but I need to know where to get that file?Thanks... I was able to download / install....
As a seperate issue: we're getting an error when trying to open a report generated out of boe xi r2 sp4....the report does have "save data" with report.... I send to myself via email, save the rpt but when I try to open on a machine with viewer installed....it tries and gets to the end and presents an 'unexpected error' with detail:
any suggestions? I put in case# 1020775

Crystal Reports Viewer Kerning issue
Hello, I am using the Crystal Reports Viewer and the .NET ReportDocument object to either display a Crystal Report or print it to PDF. I have one paragraph that is a disclaimer and appears in Times New Roman Italics. In this case, the word "of" appears with the letter o and the letter f almost overlapping. This only appears when using the viewer, if I use Crystal Reports to view or export the report, it works fine. If there is a way to upload images or supporting documents, I can provide an example.

- My default printer driver is Adobe PDF, installed with Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional. All reports will be printed to the Adobe Printer (not exported to PDF). I get better results this way.
- I tried without a printer selected as recommended with no effect.
- The problem is noticeable in both the viewer and the exported PDF.
- I have tried both a database field and a static text field. If you want I can create a text field in the report I supply to you that will be identical to the database field, so you can see that it occurs in both cases.
- Please note that this occurs in italicized text only. I'm using Times New Roman.

Crystal reports and crystal report viewer
Hi.
I have up to recently used crystal report version 11.5 and reports have been made available for users in the organisation via Crystal report viewer.2010 ver 11.2.1.3.
The reports have been saved without data, and the different parameters have been available for the users for them to select approriate dataset,.
I have now upgraded Crystal reports to version 2013 ver 14.1 and crystal report viewer to same version.
The problem now is that the parameters are no longer available for the users, and it is also a requirement to save the reports incl a dataset to even open the report in the new report viewer.
What have I missed? Anyone that can help me ?

An alternative may be to create a web app using either the Crystal Reports .NET or Java SDK. Depending on what development software you already have, this may be cheaper than CR Server or "BO server". E.g.; both the .NET SDK and the Java SDK are free:

The above would be predicated on the assumption that your org has some developer experience (or is willing to acquire it) and that you have the development software (e.g.; VS 2010, or 2012, or 2013 for the CR SDK for .NET).

In your report footer, set it to create a new page before it is printed (In 'Section Expert', select the Report Footer -> 'Paging' tab -> Check 'New Page Before' checkbox). Throw your Terms & Conditions into the Report Footer section.
If you already have a Report Footer that you want to keep, just split the footer into two sections (Right-click the Report Footer section -> 'Insert Section Below') and follow the same procedure for the newly created section.
