"Crystal Report Viewer is unable to create its resource objects"

I'm using Crystal Reports Server XI and getting the error/pop up box: "Crystal Report Viewer is unable to create its resource objects" when trying to view a report through the website.
Any suggestions would be appreiciated. I'm very unfamiliar with Crystal Reports but it's fallen into my lap to install and suppor this application.
I have tried changing some browser settings to allow ActiveX content and such but that hasn't seemed to help. I also tried downloading a particular 3 .dll's files to my desktop and registering them, as well as re-registering them on the server. They were CRVIEWER.dll, swebrs.dll, sviewhlp.dll.
I'm using IE 7.0 and CR Server XI is installed in a Windows 2003 R2 SE server.  IIS seems to be setup OK.  I haven't changed any of the default installation settings that were configured during the installation on the virtual directory that was created.  I received no errors during the installation.  I'm also not seeing anything obvious pop up in the event logs.  I still have yet to do a log parser query looking for anything that says crystal reports.
Thanks!

Hi Wendy,
This issue might be better addressed by our .NET development forum,  however,  some of the things that come to mind are:
1.  As a test are you able download the Active X Viewer from the client machine by accessing it via a URL:
http:// <yourserver>/crystalreportviewers/ActiveXControls/ActiveXViewer.cab
Does it prompt you do download the .CAB file?
2.  If you have more than one version of the Active X Viewer installed on the client machine,  go through this SAP Note (1215398) from the Service Market Place to remove it.
3.  Check your browser settings (Tools|Security|Custom Level) to make sure Active Controls are set to at least prompt.
4.  Confirm with your network administrator if there are group policies that restrict the installation of Active X Controls or if users do not have the rights to install.

Wallie

    Does BOE R2 SP2 support on IE8?

  • Crystal Report Viewer and Windows 7 Enterprise

    Hi,
    We are using RDC methodology for launching the crystal reports in the web using ASP.
    The web server operating server is Windows 2003, Crystal Reports XI Release 2 is installed in it. Activex Viewer is downloading fine in client machine having Windows XP OS (IE Version is 7) but for the same url ActiveXViewer.cab is not getting downloaded in Windows 7 Enterprise (IE Version is 8).  It throws the error u201CThe Crystal Report Viewer is unable to create its resource objects.u201D
    To download the cab file in Windows 7 machine it request for the following url
    1.     http://<web server name>/crystalreportviewers115/ActiveXControls/ActiveXViewer.cab
    2.     http://crl.verisign.com/pca3.crl
    3.     http://csc3-2004-crl.verisign.com/CSC3-2004.crl
    4.     http://www.download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3/static/trustedr/en/authrootstl.cab
    URL 2,3,4 returns the http status as 502 (Bad gateway).  These url are not called from the Windows XP machine.
    The windows 7 client machine is not connected to the internet. I tried importing the crl files (by downloading from another machine).  But still we are getting the same error.
    How to over come this issue?
    Please Note :
    1. I am able to download the cab file when I tried to download only the cab file directly by specifying the cab url.
    2. If I am registering the ActiveXViewer.cab deliverables manually in the client machine report is launching fine, but we cannot do the same for the entire client machine having Windows 7 Enterprise Operating System.

    Hi Ludek Uher,
    Thank you very much for the information provided by you.  But still the same error (The Crystal Report Viewer is unable to create its resource objects) occurs after changing the IE8 Compatibility mode.
    Are there any other settings that can be tried for this issue?
    Thank You.

  • Crystal Report Viewer Control error

    Please Help, I have a web application developed in .net 2005 which is using crystal reports developer product version 10.0.0.533.
    This web application with crystal is working fine on my local machine with OS windows xp, but on the windows server 2003 the application web form is running into "couldnot load file or assembly 'CrystalDecision.VSDesigner, Version=10.0.0.3300' or one of its dependencies"
    I have compared the assembly information of my local machine with that of the server and could not see the crystaldecision.vsdesigner version 10.0.0.3300 on the server 2003. I have uninstalled microsoft .net 2005 and crystal reports and installed crystal first and visual studio .net 2005 next and vice versa but still could not see that particular assembly available in the windows 2003 server.
    Please suggest as what to do for the assembly to be available on the server so crystal report viewer control can be created with out error. Thanks for any help.

    Hello Sunitha,
    Visual Studios 2005 ships with a bundled edition of Crystal Reports.  This bundled edition is based on the v10 code stream, but it is not CR10.  It's CR.NET for Visual Studios and it's v10.2. Crystal Reports 10.0 and the bundled CR.NET 10.2 for VS2005 are not interchangeable.
    The stand alone version of Crystal Reports 10 is not expected to integrate correctly into VS2005.  If you have CR10 Developer installed on your VS2005 machine you can force VS2005 to use the CR10.0 assemblies, but it is not supported.
    You need to clean up your application so that it's referencing the 10.2 version assemblies and then deploy the 10.2 runtime files.  You can visit the [Crystal Reports for Visual Studio .NET Runtime Distribution - Versions 9.1 to 12.0|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/wiki?path=/display/bobj/crystalReportsruntimeforVisualStudio.NET] Wiki for a nice overview of the various versions of Crystal Reports, as well as a listing of the runtime files to match the version of Crystal Reports that is being used.  For VS2005 and bundled CR.NET look at the "CR 10.2 (VS .NET 2005)" section of the Wiki.

    Dan Kelleher

    Hi, Rocio;
    In the future, please submit programming type questions to our SDK Forums.
    The component you are looking for is the Crystal Report Viewer Control x, where x is your version of Crystal Reports.
    You can also browse to the file, it is crviewer.dll.

    You will have to use the Crystal Reports Report Designer Component (craxdrt.dll). Before you do however, it may be good to know that CR XI r2 is the last version of CR that includes the craxdrt.dll as this is considered to be a retired technology in CR 2008. This may impact your efforts as the life cycle of the app may be limited(?).

  • Crystal Report Viewer 2008 paging error.  Unable to process your request

    Hi everyone,
    I encountered this error today when clicking on the next page button on the Crystal Report Viewer.  I am running Crystal 2008 SP0.  When i click on show detail i get this:
    Programming Error520|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
    I have a simple .Net page that has a dropdown control that a user can select to pass the parameter for the report.  I have a server side button that gets the report on the onclick event. The code behind is as follows:
    protected void btnReport_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
            CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument Myreport = new CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument();
            Myreport.Load(Server.MapPath("Reports/rpt_equipment_summary.rpt"));

            Database crDatabase;
            Tables crTables;

            ParameterFields ParamFields = new ParameterFields();
            paramField.Name = "@txComments";
            spValue.Value = ddlPastInvoices.SelectedValue.ToString();

            CrystalReportViewer1.ParameterFieldInfo = ParamFields;
            CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = Myreport;
    Is there something i am missing for paging to work?
    Thanks in advance

    Sorry i forgot to include more information.
    .Net 3.5 and I can view this report fine in Crystal report designer.  I get no error message when I switch pages.  The issue happens when i view the report inside a Crystal report viewer control that i have on the page.
    <%@ Register assembly="CrystalDecisions.Web, Version=12.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304" namespace="CrystalDecisions.Web" tagprefix="CR" %>
    I haven't tried your sample reports.  Where can i find those?  i have other reports with multiple pages so I can also try using those reports as well.
    Thanks again,

  • Crystal Report Viewer integration with Sharepoint 2010

    We had a requirement in our project to view crystal report off an hyper link embedded into sharepoint web part developed using ASP .NET. The report accepted few parameters from the sharepoint page and passed those on to the SQL server to retrive data and
    display the data in the report. The challenge was to open the report in the web browser.
    The first difficulty was to find the right control to use, the report viewer tool that comes with Visual Studio 2010 is not the right one to use to view Crystal reports, I realised this after spending half a day trying to figure out why wouldn't the report
    load. I then downloaded the Crystal Report Viewer for VS 2010 Standard from http://www.businessobjects.com/jump/xi/crvs2010/us2_default.asp. After you install this, you get the crystal report viewer in your toolbar. All you have to do is drag and drop it on
    to the web part and configure it to use your report. If any one needs help with this let me know I will show how to do that.
    So far so good. The biggest challenge was to deploy this on to the production server which took better part of 3 days to figure out how its done. If you deploy the WSP file as it is expecting that the crystal DLLs would be embedded in it then be ready to
    expect a rude shock because it isn't. Here are the steps -
    1. Deploy the WSP to the sharepoint server
    2. Install the crystal dlls used in the project (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll, CrystalDecisions.ReportSource.dll, CrystalDecisions.Shared.dll, CrystalDecisions.Web.dll) into the GAC using GacUtil command
    3. Add following entries to Web.Config file (C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\80\web.congif)
        <SafeControl Assembly="CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine, Version=13.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304" Namespace="CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine" TypeName="*" Safe="True" SafeAgainstScript="False"
    />
          <SafeControl Assembly="CrystalDecisions.ReportSource, Version=13.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304" Namespace="CrystalDecisions.ReportSource" TypeName="*" Safe="True" SafeAgainstScript="False" />
          <SafeControl Assembly="CrystalDecisions.Shared, Version=13.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304" Namespace="CrystalDecisions.Shared" TypeName="*" Safe="True" SafeAgainstScript="False" />
          <SafeControl Assembly="CrystalDecisions.Web, Version=13.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304" Namespace="CrystalDecisions.Web" TypeName="*" Safe="True" SafeAgainstScript="False" />
    4. Install crystal redistributable package which can be downloaded from http://www.businessobjects.com/jump/xi/crvs2010/us2_default.asp (
    SAP Crystal Reports runtime engine for .NET Framework 4 (64-bit))
    5. Copy aspnet_client folder from C:\>inetpub\wwwroot and overwrite it on C:\>inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\80
    And we are done. Fingers crossed it should all work.

  • Crystal report Viewer for 8.5 reports

    We are using an older version of Crystal reports (8.5) and use an application called RePortal (that use Crystal Enterprise) to view the reports through out the building. We recently had a report that was created and we are getting an error:
    Error encountered by Crystal PageServer

    I tried a few solutions I found on line, but that didn't work.
    My thought was to bypass and download the free Crystal Report viewer, but the one I found was only compatible with Reports written in 9 or higher.
    Does anyone know how to resolve the error above or we I can find an older version of Viewer to work on 8.5

  • Error With Export/Print from Crystal Report Viewer

    Hello there,
    I've searched through the web and SAP discussion boards with not much luck with this issue.
    After working through this for some days now I've decided to look here for help.
    Environment:
    I have created a web Crystal Report viewer application(Developed with SBOP BI Platform 4.0 SP06 .NET SDK Runtime) that communicates with a managed Cyrstal Server 2011 SP4 (Product 14.0)
    I am able to connect and authenticate with the server, retrieve a token for communication and display reports in the Crystal report Viewer successfully.
    Problem:
    When I attempt to export, I receive the prompt to select format and pages.
    When I click export after selections most times I receive an error with the text
    Unable to cast COM object of type 'System.__ComObject' to interface type 'CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.PropertyBag'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{74EEBC42-6C5D-11D3-9172-00902741EE7C}' failed due to the following error: No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE)).
    Other times the page simply refreshes on export.
    When I click to print, no print dialog is displayed the page always refreshes and no error is displayed.
    No Print or Export document is ever created.
    As many print/export issues seems to be related, I'm guessing this two issues are as well.
    Notes:
    I am utilizing the ReportClientDocument model
    I am storing this in session to use as the crystal report viewer report source on postbacks
    I am assigning a subset of export formats to the crystal report viewer
    I am setting particular parameters as well on the report source
    At this point I would appreciate every assistance I may receive on this issue
    Thanks in advance,

    Thanks Don for your response,
    I'm new to the SCN spaces and my content has been moved a couple of times already.
    In response to your questions
    The runtime is installed on the web application server, if by that you mean the machine hosting the created .NET SDK application.
    My question was whether it was also required on the Crystal Server 2011 (I.E. the main enterprise server with CMS and Report management and I guess RAS and all that). I figured this would remain untouched and queries would simply be made against it to retrieve/view reports e.t.c
    If install of the SDK on Crystal Server 2011 is indeed required should I expect any interruption to any of the core services after a restart. I.E. I'm hoping that none of the SDK objects would interfere with the existing server objects (in SAP Business Objects)Reason I ask is I note that much of the SDK install directories are similar to the existing Crystal Enterprise Server 2011 (Product 14.0.0)
    Is this temp folder to be manually created/configured or is it created by the application automatically to perform tasks. Or are you referring to the default C:\Windows\Temp directory and so saying that the application would try to use this for print and export tasks?Once I'm sure which I'd give the app pool user permission
    Printing is to be client side but I figured by default (with the Crystal Report Viewer) it would simply pool and print from the user's printer. This is how it works with the previously used URL reporting approach (viewrpt.cwr). Therefore a user can print the document from wherever they are with their own printer.We don't intend on printing from the server machine, but are you suggesting that a printer must be installed on server (which one web or enterprise server) for any client side printing to work.
    App pool is running in 32 bit mode
    Initially didn't get anything useful from fiddler but I'd try and look closer on your suggestion.
    It's also possible that some of my questions are a misunderstanding of APP vs RAS vs WEB, so please feel free to clarify. Currently I see the Web server as simply the created .NET SDK Application and RAS (Crystal Server 2011 e.t.c) as the existing fully established Application server which I simply pool for information.
    Thank you for your patience and advice,

  • Error when running Crystal Reports Viewer

    Hello,
    Has anyone come across this error before when opening the crystal report viewer?
    'The CrystalReportsViewer executable launcher was unable to locate its companion launcher jar'
    Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Kate

    Moving to Crystal Reports forums - the "Crystal Reports Viewer" desktop application is built on the Crystal Reports Java SDK, but it's not a SDK issue.
    The launcher executable just can't find the internal files it needs for its operation.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

  • Casting of crystal report viewer

    I want to load crystal report in SAP B One.For this I have created a form through screen painter.I am trying to load crystal report on this form.I am using following code-
    Dim objCRViewer As New CrystalActiveXReportViewerLib10.CrystalActiveXReportViewer
    Dim objReport As CRAXDDRT20.Report
    objDT = GetData("Select * from OUSR")
    'Datable objDT created as per requirement
                objReport = objAppl.OpenReport("F:\Final\sdk\Crystal Report\CrystalReport\rptUsers.rpt")
                objReport.Database.SetDataSource(objDT)
    objCRViewer.DisplayToolbar = True
                objCRViewer.DisplayGroupTree = True
                objCRViewer.EnableExportButton = True
                objCRViewer.ReportSource = objReport
                objCRViewer.RefreshEx(True)
                objCRViewer.ViewReport()
    The above code does not create any problem.I want to add objCRViewer in the form.The method of adding a control is,
    oForm = SBO_Application.Forms.ActiveForm
    oForm.Items.Add("objCRViewer", SAPbouiCOM.BoFormItemTypes.it_ACTIVE_X)
    In BoFormItemTypes crystal report viewer is not present.How do I cast the crystal report viewer to activex control ?

    Hi Dilip,
    I guess its not possible to load a Crystal viewer in SBO form. Generally i use a windows form to show my crystal reports.
    If its possible to use Crystal viewer in SBO form, it will be great. Hope u'll be able to solve this problem so that i can use ur approach.
    Regards,
    Vasu Natari.

  • Crystal Reports Viewer XI R2 Missing icons on toolbar when displayed

    I am using Crystal Reports Viewer XI R2 on Windows 2003 Server and trying to deploy to a different server.
    I have deployed a new web site from a development server to production.  The crystal reports render correctly, but the only problem is that the icons for the viewer show "X".  I have tried the following:
    Copy the aspnet_client folder (c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\aspnet_client) and all of itu2019s subfolders to the physical root directory of the custom web site.
    If the above does not help, ensure that this is in the web.config of the application:
    <httpHandlers>
    <add verb="GET" path="CrystalImageHandler.aspx" type="CrystalDecisions.Web.CrystalImageHandler, CrystalDecisions.Web, Version=11.5.3700.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304"/>
    </httpHandlers>
    Still see "X" in the view tool bar.

    Your IIS logs show that the web server can't find the toolbar gif files. The first thing I'd do here is browse to this location using your IIS Manager. Find the next.gif file and right click it and select Browse. This will take your application out of the picture and will tell you if you can see this gif file on its own as processed by IIS.
    If that doesn't work you likely have a permissions issue. Look at the security on the toolbar directory and see if the ASPNET or Network Service account have rights to read that directory. Also make sure the group IIS_WPG has access here too. You might even want to run the IIS Managers permissions wizard to clean up file permissions here.
    Another thing you could try is creating a Virtual Directory that points to the original aspnet_client directory under C:\inetpub\wwwroot.
    Hopefully that helps. Good luck!

  • Crystal Report Viewer Not Releasing Oracle Database Connections

    I have a very simple vb.net 3.5 web application that uses the Crystal Report viewer 2008 to open a report. My requirements are as follows:
    1. Reports are built by another company and provided to us and used in a web environment
    2. All reports contain parameter fields
    3. The web application must be generic enough that a report can be added to a list and the user simply selects the report and provides database login information. The Crystal report viewer with handle the request for parameter values and prompt the user for their values.
    4. All reports connect to an Oracle 10g server.
    The above requirements have been meet and we have an extremely simple web application that runs the reports. It is working very well other than the crystal report viewer is not releasing the database connections. This is bad because the credentials are on a per user basis and that same user must login to a different oracle application simultaneously. They are being denied access because the credentials are already in use. We do not have control nor influence over the policies in use on the Oracle server. Ideally we would like to control the Crystal Report viewer so that it closes connections after use.
    The web application code is:
    Private Sub viewReports_Init(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Init
    If Not IsPostBack Then
    ConfigureCrystalReport()
    End If
    End Sub
    Private Sub ConfigureCrystalReport()
    'Load the Crystal Report viewer with a report.
    Try
    Dim reportPath As String = Server.MapPath(Session("reportname"))
    crViewer.ReportSource = reportPath
    Catch ex As Exception
    Response.Write(Server.MapPath(Session("reportname")) & "
    " & ex.Message.ToString & "
    " & ex.StackTrace.ToString)
    End Try
    End Sub
    Can anyone shed some light on this topic? Thank you

    Hello, Timothy;
    By default, having the report in session will hold it open for 20 minutes.
    If you create the report as a ReportDocument object you can take it out of session and release it more efficiently. That will release the connection.
        Private Sub ConfigureCrystalReports()
            If (Session("hierarchicalGroupingReport") Is Nothing) Then
                hierarchicalGroupingReport = New ReportDocument()
                hierarchicalGroupingReport.Load(Server.MapPath("Hierarchical Grouping.rpt"))
                Session("hierarchicalGroupingReport") = hierarchicalGroupingReport
            Else
                hierarchicalGroupingReport = CType(Session("hierarchicalGroupingReport"), ReportDocument)
            End If
            myCrystalReportViewer.ReportSource = hierarchicalGroupingReport
        End Sub
    In the Form Unload of the Viewer:
                'Take the report out of session
                Session("hierarchicalGroupingReport")  = Nothing
                Session.Contents.Remove("hierarchicalGroupingReport")
                'Clean up the ReportDocument object
                hierarchicalGroupingReport.Close
                hierarchicalGroupingReport.Dispose()
                hierarchicalGroupingReport = Nothing
                GC.Collect()

  • Problem on using Crystal Report Viewer on windows application ("specified type is not valid ")

    Hi
    I am having problem on using Crystal Report Viewer on one of my windows application.
    I am not sure how to put the Crystal Report Viewer 11 Control onto the tool box.
    I could found a Crystal Report Viewer control on my computer, but it is version 8.5.
    I have also found another one which is Called Crytal ActiveX Report Viewer, i don't think it is the one I can use. As when I try to load a dummy report on to the Crytal ActiveX Report Viewer, It return an error. "specified type is not valid"
    Please see the Code sample below.
    private sub loadReport()
         Dim r as New ReportDocument
         'v is the name of the Crystal ActiveX Report Viewer Control
         r.Load("C:\Report1.rtp")
         v.ReportSource(r) <---It throw error on this line.
    End Sub
    Could you give me some advice about what have I done wrong, How to check if I have set up the Crystal Report Component correctly in my Visual Studio 2005 Standard edition.
    Thanks in advances.
    Many thanks
    Chi

    VS 2005 Standard and Express editions do not come with Crystal Reports; only the Professional and higher editions will have CR bundled. However, I believe you can purchase CR XI R2 Developer and it will give you the components you need to create a VS .NET 2005 application using the Standard edition.
