  • Link to binary file stored in CMS?

    Hello,
    <p>I'm using WebLogic Portal 8.1 SP5 and storing PDF & DOC files as assets in the WebLogic CMS. I'm trying to present links to these files in a portlet (pageflow). I'm currently using the following tags to display the links but am having some difficulty.</p>
    <p><b><cm:getNode path="/BEA Repository/Folder/SomeFile" id="node"/>
    <ad:render id="node"/></b></p>
    <p>I've also tried using a placeholder but had the same behaviour.</p>
    <ol>
    <li>The a href text is always "/BEA Repository/Folder/SomeFile". Is it possible to customize this? I'd like to display the file title</li>
    <li>The a href URL is /BEA+Repository/Folder/SomeFile. Is it possible to have the URL be the same as the binary file that's stored in the CMS or do I have to explicitly set the asset's name the same as the file itself?</li>
    </ol>
    <p>
    Thanks,
    </p>
    <p>Cotter</p>

    If you want to create a link to the file in the repository, I suggest you use the ShowBinaryServlet.
    From javadoc...
    public class ShowBinaryServlet
    extends ShowPropertyServlet
    Writes a Binary property of a Node to the response OutputStream. The available paramater options are as follows:
    # 1) Pass the node Id in as a request parameter. Eg. http://server:port/app/ShowBinary?nodeId=/repo/12345.
    # 2) Pass the node path as part of the the request pathInfo. Eg. http://server:port/app/ShowBinary/repo/path/file.ext.
    # 3) Pass the node path in as a request parameter. Eg. http://server:port/app/ShowBinary?nodePath=/repo/path/file.ext

  • How to create link for pdf file in discoverer worksheet

    Hi All,
    I would like to create a link for pdf file into discoverer report (worksheet).
    So that i can open linked pdf file using worksheet link.
    Can any one tell me about this?
    Thanks
    Ravi

    Hi,
    I think the best way to do this is to use a database directory so that you can access your pdf file as a bfile. Then create a mod_plsql procedure that sets the mime type and downloads the pdf file. You then create a calculation in the EUL then returns the URL to your mod_plsql procedure. You can then include this calculation as a hyperlink in your worksheet.
    It is not as difficult as it sounds. Please let me know if you need anymore details.

  • How to create links to different files on the same page?

    Good day to all again,
    can someone please guide me through creating several links to different files on the same page. In other words, I am creating a photo page where my links are called Gallery 1, Gallery 2, etc... I would like to create links so when the User clicks on Gallery 1, they see Gallery 1 slide show in the frame; when the user then clicks Gallery 2, then they see Gallery 2 slide show in the window.
    My slide show files are done and I am using GoLive CS2. I have no knowledge of JavaScript or ActionScript/Flash.
    Any suggestions are highly appreciated.
    Thank you
    Alek

    Hi Diana,
    I'm a professional photographer and in the process of getting
    my finished site published. I used Coffeecup Photo Gallery. You can
    create multiple albums on the same page. Do a Google search for the
    address. It's easy, inexpensive, and it works. I tried to do this
    with the Photo Gallery in DW and FireWorks--but couldn't get it
    right. CC uses Flash and Javascript.
    Good Luck

  • How do I create links in a file like a table of contents to different sections in a .pdf document?

    I'm trying to take multiple files and create one large (165 page) document but would like to create links to the different "chapters" within the document.

    LH,
    You may (you can see Groups in the Layers palette with the layer expanded):
    1) Ctrl/Cmd+A to select everything and Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+G to Ungroup ;
    2) ShiftClick the circle to deselect it; if it is still a Group (all of its own), Ungroup again;
    3) With the Centre Reference Point ticked in the Transform palette multiply the W or H value by 1.1 (just add *1.1 in the box) and Ctrl/CmdEnter to keep proportions (this is to make sure that they are long enough);
    4) Ctrl/Cmd+A to select everything again and Pathfinder>Divide (this will make pie pieces);
    5) Drag over the centre with the Direct Selection Tool and press Delete (this will rid you of the inner parts of the pie pieces so you just have the outer rim in pieces).
    This should give you the 30 independent curved lines forming the circle, two of them with an extra (original) Anchor Point.

  • Creating links to text files with Tomcat and JSP

    I am trying to create links in a JSP page that bring up text files. Currently, the links point to a file format. When the links are clicked, however, the text files are not displayed in the web browser. When an "http:" format is used, the links point to terminal files that are not being written dynamically (and therefore are useless to me). So in short, I'm looking for a way to get these links to (1) point to text files on the network, and (2) get them to display in a new browser window. Any help or guidance will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    TGD

    You cannot expect Tomcat or any J2EE Server to give access to the Network files.
    You need to design a different way to give access to the Users.
    What you can do is write a proxy (HttpServlet) which can pass a request parameter as the file name. The Servlet can read the file and then paint it in the Client Browser Window.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks and regards,

  • Binary files - package

    I want to install GHC(haskell.org/ghc), but it's not available, so I thought:"Well let me check out that abs system". But it looks like it's only source. Is there some other way to create packages from binary files?

    Dusty wrote:
    the s stands for system (arch build system).
    You can build binary files with it, all you have to do is instead of compiling, you move,copy,install or whatever the binary installer wants you to do, the files into the pkg directory.
    Take a look at the j2re and j2sdk packages for examples.  Basically, anything installed in the pkg directory (same structure as root) will be installed. You do the copy/moving inside the build function of PKGBUILD.
    I could have said that waaaaay clearer, but I'm rushing again... *sigh*
    Dusty
    Ok, thanks.    I will play with them. Hopefully I can get ghc to work soon (without contaminating the package database)

  • Creating a link to a file on a Windows server?

    I am trying to create a link to a file located on a Windows server that I can email to users and they can click on the link and it will open the actual file.
    Here is what I have done so far:
    smb://server/sharedfolder/document.doc
    The user can click on the link but it just opnes up the "sharedfolder" and then you have to find the file you want and then open it and that works.
    I need the link to be able to just open the actual file.
    Is there a way to do this??
    Thanks

    Since it's a file download, there's no reason to add the target="_blank", I'm guessing your file is 404 for some reason which would give you a blank window per the target.
    Make sure the case structure of the file and link are identical. Servers are case sensitive, a server sees CheckIPApp.zip and checkIPApp.zip as totally different files. Your local OS sees them as the same thing so during local testing it will work, when uploaded, it won't.
    Make sure you've loaded the file onto the server at the exact location specified by the link. It should be in a folder called "Zip Files" that resides on the same directory level as the page that the link is on.
    You may also want to normalize your file names. They should be all lower case alpha-numerics without any spaces (use hyphens or underscores instead) and without special characters ($%&*). You can use DW's Files window to change names and DW will fix the links automatically.

  • Creating a Link with XML Files

    Hi,
    I am trying to import a XML file in a table structure following instructions from the Adobe help file (could only find a CS3 one, I am using CS4, the link to it: http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/indesign/articles/indcs3ip_xmlrules.pdf). Now the import works fine and my table is displayed correctly. My plan for this is to have XML files created from a database so when they get overwritten it will automatically update the tables in the file. While importing it I chose the "Create Link" option and I can see it in the links panel. All that seems fine. My problem is from this point if I do any changes to this file it gets added into my template along with the original with no formatting. So normally imported it looks like:
    code
    description
    unit
    price
    10000
    Product A
    Each
    5.00
    and if I edit it it then looks like this:
    5.00
    Each
    Product A
    10001
    PRICE
    UNIT
    DESCRIPTION
    CODE
    code
    description
    unit
    price
    10000
    Product A
    Each
    5.00
    And all I edited was the code value to be 10001 on the link yet it makes all these changes. Now if I edit the original XML file again it will crash Adobe CS4 and it freezes and says encountered error and closes. Does anyone have any advice on this situation? Is there a simple way to get XML tables inserted into a document that will change in the document if I edit the original file. If I have to change the XML that is fine as I can output it from the database pretty much whichever way I want.
    Here is the code for the XML file:
    <Table xmlns:aid="http://ns.adobe.com/AdobeInDesign/4.0/" aid:table="table" aid:trows="2" aid:tcols="4">
    <Cell aid:table="cell" aid:theader="" aid:crows="1" aid:ccols="1" aid:ccolwidth="130">CODE</Cell>
    <Cell aid:table="cell" aid:theader="" aid:crows="1" aid:ccols="1" aid:ccolwidth="59">DESCRIPTION</Cell>
    <Cell aid:table="cell" aid:theader="" aid:crows="1" aid:ccols="1" aid:ccolwidth="130">UNIT</Cell>
    <Cell aid:table="cell" aid:theader="" aid:crows="1" aid:ccols="1" aid:ccolwidth="130">PRICE</Cell>
    <Cell aid:table="cell" aid:crows="1" aid:ccols="1" aid:ccolwidth="130">10000</Cell>
    <Cell aid:table="cell" aid:crows="1" aid:ccols="1" aid:ccolwidth="130">Product A</Cell>
    <Cell aid:table="cell" aid:crows="1" aid:ccols="1" aid:ccolwidth="130">Each</Cell>
    <Cell aid:table="cell" aid:crows="1" aid:ccols="1" aid:ccolwidth="130">5.00</Cell>
    </Table>
    Any help would be appreciated.

    I wasn't using "Edit Original" before, but now that I do, I'm still unable to duplicate your result. When I edit and save, the results are just as one would expect. What application are you using to edit the XML? I am using Text Wrangler. What platform are you one? I've been testing this on a Mac, but could try it on Windows of that's what you are using. Also, out of curiosity, what does your XML structure look like? Here's mine:
    <Root>
      <Article>
        <Story>
          <Table xmlns:aid="http://ns.adobe.com/AdobeInDesign/4.0/" aid:table="table" aid:trows="2" aid:tcols="4">
            <Cell ..... (your cell nodes here)
          </Table>
        </Story>
      </Article>
    </Root>

    Hi Venkat,
    I think this isn't the best forum to answer your question but I'll try.
    You've lost your DATABASE FILES (means DBF files, control files (CTL), redo logs)? Correct?
    Or did you loose also the Oracle Home where the software has been installed?
    If you've lost your Oracle installation than you might do the following:
    1) Install 8.1.7.0 software on your standby server
    2) Install patch set 8.1.7 4 into this home
    3) Metalink-Note:70233.1 will describe the full process of creating an 8i standby database from your PROD.
    If you use RMAN than please have a look into Metalink-Note:203980.1 and Note:118409.1 - it'll describe also the init.ora parameters necessary for a standby
    You'll find a description of an ideal init.ora for the standby in ML Note:139809.1 and specific for Data Guard 8i here: ML-Note:132991.1
    Kind regards

  • Allowing user to create link to a network file

    Is there a way to allow the user of a form to enter the path to a local network file (such as a Word document), so that when others click it, it will take them to the file?
    In a thread in another forum, someone posted the following method of create a button containing the following code that converts text entered into a text field into a hyperlink:
    if (xfa.host.name != "XFAPresentationAgent")
        var oURI = xfa.resolveNode("form1.page1.header.TextField2").rawValue;
        var oLink = "<body xmlns=\"http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml\" xmlns:xfa=\"http://www.xfa.org/schema/xfa-data/1.0/\"><p style=\"letter-spacing:0in\"><a href=\"" + oURI+ "\" style=\"margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;text-valign:bottom;font-fami ly:'Myriad Pro';font-size:8pt\">" + oURI + "</a></p></body>";
        xfa.resolveNode("form1.page1.header.TextField2").value.exData.loadXML (oLink, false, true);
    This works great for internet URLs; however, when you enter a local or network path (for example "Y:\Network\File.doc"), you get the following error message in your default browser:
    Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (y) isn't associated with any program.
    How would you alter this code so that it links to a local or network file, and doesn't try to open it in a web browser? Or, if this isn't possible, is there any other way to allow the user to create a clickable link to a file?
    Thanks,
    Jo

    I've never tried it and there may be alternative ways of doing it, but I would think the only way you can provide formatting tools - without recreating each tool - is to use an Applet.
    What you're trying to do is create a document object on the server, have the user select an command on the client side (such as underlining text), have the client pass the command back to the server, and echo the results of that operation, right?
    It would be incredibly awkward and impractical to do that through a conventional stateless HTTP medium such as JSPs, PHP or JavaScript. It may have been done before, I'm just not aware of any attempts to do so.
    Are you willing to consider alternative third-party solutions, open source or not? Or is this something that you explicitly have to code?
