Create Named Query with no descriptor?

I have a very simple query(see below). I'd like to use it as a named query instead of recreating it everytime. I wonder if there is a way I can add it to somewhere without using a descriptor so that I can retrevie it from the session.
Thanks,
Wei
ValueReadQuery query = new ValueReadQuery();
query.setSQLString("SELECT SYSDATE FROM DUAL");
Object obj = (Object) session.executeQuery(query);

There is an "addQuery(DatabaseQuery q)" on the Session interface that should do the trick. So create your session, and then do:
ValueReadQuery query = new ValueReadQuery();
query.setSQLString("SELECT SYSDATE FROM DUAL");
session.addQuery("getDate", query);
Then later you should be able to:
session.executeQuery("getDate");

    I need to create a query with web service data control, in WSDL, it's query operation, there is a parameter message with the possible query criteria and a return message contains the results. • Linking Access tables, creating a query with using both Access and Oracle

    Hello,
    I am using 3.0.04.34 version Oracle Developer. I am supposed to create a script/procedure to use both Access tables and oracle tables together. There is an option in developer to copy the access tables into oracle. But it doesn't help me. Because when we updated the access tables
    the copied ones are not be updated. How can I created a linked access tables to oracle and create a query with using both access and oracle table together.
    I will appreciate if you guys help me. I look forward to hearing from you guys.
    Thanks,
    Pinar

    Pinar,
    to be able to query MS Access tables in Oracle you need an additional product, the Oracle Database Gateway for ODBC. It allows you to link any foreign database into an Oracle database using a suitable ODBC driver. You can then access the MS Access tables through a database link based on the Database Gateway for ODBC. This will also allow you to join local Oracle and remote MS Access tables from your Oracle database.
    There's a note on My Oracle Support which gives you more details:Document 233876.1 Options for Connecting to Foreign Data Stores and Non-Oracle Databases - For example - DB2, SQL*Server, Sybase, Informix, Teradata, MySQL

  • Creating Named Query: from OracleCallableStatement

    We have a great many PL/SQL Procs in an existing legacy system that return PL/SQL Boolean, that we wish to call from toplink.
    Ideally we would like to create Toplink Nameded queries that wrap the SQL call statements.
    Does anyone know if its possible to convert a call like the following into a Toplink named query?
    String domain = "COST CENTRE";
    String value = "OP";
    OracleCallableStatement xcall = (OracleCallableStatement) con.prepareCall(
    "BEGIN ? := SYS.SQLJUTL.bool2int(is_valid_value(?, ?)); END;");
    xcall.registerOutParameter( 1, OracleTypes.INTEGER);

    Many thanks,
    Lee.

    You can define Stored Procedure calls in TopLink through the StoredProcedureCall class. StoredProcedureCall allows you to define output parameters to access return values.
    Example:
    StoredProcedureCall call = new StoredProcedureCall();
    call.setProcedureName("is_valid_value");
    call.addNamedArgumentValue("DOMAIN", domain);
    call.addNamedArgumentValue("VALUE", value);
    call.addNamedOutputArgument("RESULT", "RESULT", Integer.class);
    List results = session.executeSelectingCall(call);
    boolean value = ((Integer) ((Map) results.get(0)).get("RESULT")).intValue() == 0;
    However what you seem to be accessing is a stored function, not a procedure. To access a stored function from TopLink you must use an SQLCall and select the return value through the DUAL table.
    Example:
    SQLCall call = new SQLCall("Select SYS.SQLJUTL.bool2int(is_valid_value(" + domain + ", " + value + ")) from dual");
    List results = session.executeSelectingCall(call);

  • Create Named Search with Java API

    Hi,
    is it possible to create or modify a named search with the Java API?
    Best regards,
    Roman

    Hi Olof,
    You can use the below code for searching a value in lookup table:
                   ResultDefinition objResultDefinition = new ResultDefinition(Lookup Table Id);
                   objResultDefinition.addSelectField(Lookup Field ID);
                   StringValue [] objStringValue = new StringValue[1];
                   objStringValue[0] = new StringValue("Value to search");
                   RetrieveRecordsByValueCommand objRetrieveRecordsByValueCommand = new RetrieveRecordsByValueCommand(objConnectionAccessor);
                   objRetrieveRecordsByValueCommand.setSession(strUserSessionID);
                   objRetrieveRecordsByValueCommand.setResultDefinition(objResultDefinition);
                   objRetrieveRecordsByValueCommand.setFieldId(lookup field id);
                   objRetrieveRecordsByValueCommand.setFieldValues(objStringValue);
                   objRetrieveRecordsByValueCommand.execute();
                   RecordResultSet objRecordResultSet = objRetrieveRecordsByValueCommand.getRecords();
    Now using the objRecordResultset in a loop you can get the record id by calling the getRecord(i).getId() method.
    Hope this helps!!

  • Srvrmgr syntax: how can I create Named Subsystem with both Name and Description values?

    In looking through bookshelf, there is no syntax discussed that allows you to include both the Name value and the Description value for a Named Subsystem/Profile Configuration.  In the screenshot, the circled values were created with the server manager command-line.
    In contrast, you can create a component definition with a Name (full name) and Description.
    For CompDef, this works:
    create component definition CompDefTest1_enu for component type AppObjMgr component group Fins run mode Interactive full name "Test Comp Def Test 1" description "Test 1 Object Manager CompDef"
    For Named Subsytem, this does NOT work:
    create named subsystem Test5 for subsystem EAITransportDataHandlingSubsys full name "Test 5" description 'Test 5 Description'
    Can anyone tell me if, for a Named Subsytem, there is a proper syntax to include both the Name and Description values in the command-line, or is the only way to manually create it in the UI?

    Hi,
    I have reviewed the help for create command in srvrmgr, it does not give the full name and description as parameters for subsystem creation. However, as you indicated these parameters are available for component definition creation:
    srvrmgr> help create
      create { component group | compgrp } <component group name>
           [ full name <descriptive name> ]
           [ { description | desc } <description of component group> ]
      create { component definition | compdef } <component definition name>
           for { component type | comptype } <component type name>
               { component group | compgrp } <component group name>
           run mode { batch | interactive | background }
           [ full name <descriptive name> ]
           [ { description | desc } <description of component definition> ]
           [ with [param <param_name>=<value>[, <param_name>=<value>...]]
                  [fixparam <fixed_param_name>=<fixed_value>[,...]]]
      create named subsystem <named_subsystem_name> for
           subsystem <subsystem_name> with <param_name>=<param_value> [, ..]
    Bookshelf also has an example of subsystem creation that does not include full name and description:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14004_01/books/StoreFwdMsg/StoreFwdMsg_InstallConfig14.html#wp1351472
    In this case I suggest you to create a ticket on My Oracle Support to confirm that srvrmgr does not support creating a new subsystem with full name and description parameters, and request an enhancement request for these parameters to be included in create statement for new subsystems when using srvrmgr.
    Hope it helps,
    WSiebel

  • How to create the query with multiple node types

    Hi,
    I am having an issue in creating a query to search multiple node types.
    The requirement is to query documents/pages of the type dam:Asset and cq:Page present under a path.
    I tried the following code snippet with no luck .
    path=/content
    1_type=cq:Page
    2_type=dam:Asset
    property=jcr:content/metadata/@cq:tags
    property.1_value=<tag Name>
    I was able to write a query with single type. However i could not find any documents/ materials with multipe types as shown above.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Sudhi

    I don't think multiple type is possible. Instead use super type like nt:base that will cover both page and asset.

  • Creating a  query with group function and non group function

    Could anyone help me with creating a query that contain single row function and multiple row function in Report6i.
    what i want to do basically is to create a query that will display sum of certain columns according to a column in that table

    You can either calculate a sum yourself, or let Reports do it for you.
    1. select sum(column) from table where ....
    This will just display the sum, not the records.
    2. Make a query: select column from table where ...
    Create a summary field. You can do it manually or with the report wizard.
    That will create a report like this:
       Column
           10
           20
           15
       ======
    Sum    45

  • Native TopLink named query with named parameters

    Hello,
    Defining my metadata in native TopLink xml and using the native TopLink's Session interface I can access and successfully execute a named query using positional parameters (parameters passed to match the ?1 ?2 etc). I used for this the Session.executeQuery(String, Class, List) method e.g.
    select p from Person p where p.name = ?1
    Now, how can I get the same Session to execute named queries using named parameters? None of the Session.executeQuery methods seem suitable ... Am I missing anything here? e.g.
    select p from Person p where p.age = :age
    I can't find in Session http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/toplink/doc/1013/main/b13698/oracle/toplink/sessions/Session.html a good match for this use-case. I would expect something like:
    Session.executeQuery(String queryName, Class target, List argNames, List argValues)
    or
    Session.executeQuery(String queryName, Class target, Map argsKeyedByName)
    but can't find any good match, can anyone please enlighten me?
    Thanks in advance,
    Best regards,
    Giovanni

    Hello Chris,
    Many thanks for your response. I am sorry if I did not explain my problem properly.
    Suppose I already defined a named query in the metadata XXXProject.xml using the <opm:querying ... this JPQL named query "customFinder" already exists and would look something like:
    select p from Person p where p.firstname=:firstname and p.lastname=:lastname and p.birthdate=:birthdate
    now say you want to execute this query from the Session:
    Vector args = new Vector();
    // how do you know the order? you shouldn't know the order!
    // you know only the parameter names and that's what I mean
    // about named parameters
    // This args setup is wrong ... I need a way to specify to which
    // parameter name each argument corresponds to. In other words
    // if the named query where criteria order of parameters is modified
    // perhaps because of pruning composite keys etc you won't break the
    // existing code ...
    args.add(new Date());
    args.add("Azua");
    args.add("Giovanni");
    Session session = ...
    session.executeQuery("customFinder", Person.class, args);
    JPA supports both type of queries positional parameters and named parameters. Your explanation above is only for the first, my question refers to the later.
    I have not yet found the api for this ... though I am investigating along the lines of:
    Query query = session.getQuery("customFinder");
    and then try to assign the arguments in the same order that the parameters are defined in query or?
    Thanks in advance,
    Best regards,
    Giovanni

  • Creating a Query with Data from 4 Tables.

    Hey guys. I'm having a small problem figuring out the best way for me to handle this query.
    I'm trying to make a query which outputs the amount of appointments a GP has furfilled, and the total amount allowed.
    I have 4 tables, for each I'm just gonna list the relevent columns:
    Appointment: ID, Patient_ID.
    Patient: ID, GP_ID.
    GP: ID, Trust_ID.
    Trust: ID, Quota.
    Appointment table has 400 entries (2 per patient atm).
    Patient table has 200 entries.
    GP Table has 30 entries (GP's can be assigned to more than one person) .
    Trust table has 6 entries.
    What I need to do is, look at the appointment table and get the number of times each patient has an appointment.
    Go through the patient table, and find out which GP the patient in the appointment belongs to.
    Add each occurance to the correct GP.
    Find out which Trust each GP belongs to, and add the total for each GP to the correct Trust.
    Check the quota in the Trust table, to see if the total is more than the allowed.
    I can't seem to think of an easy or simple way for me to do this. Can anyone help please? Many thanks.

    Hi,
    That sounds like a job for JOIN.
    To check the quotas against the total, use the SUM function; either the aggregate SUM or the analytic SUM, depending on your requirements.
    Sorry this answer is so vague, but that's the bes I can do with the information provided so far.
    Whenever you have a problem, please post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) from all tables involved. In this case, between 2 and 10 rows of data per table should be enough to show what you need to do.
    Also post the results you want from that data, and an explanation of how you get those results from that data, with specific examples.
    Always say which version of Oracle you're using.

  • Creating Query with dynamic columns to show results

    Hi experts,
    I need to know how to create a query with dynamic columns. Meaning, I don't want to create a query with fixed columns representing the 12 periods of the fiscal year to show me actuals as the fiscal year proceeds.
    For example, if I am currently in the middle of period 3 (March) of a fiscal year, when I execute the query, I need it to automatically only show me the 'Actuals' for periods 1 and 2, without seeing the columns from periods 3 to 12 showing blank.
    Then when I am in the middle period 5 (May) the query should ONLY show me the columns for periods 1 to 4 'Actuals', no results should be shown for periods 5 to 12 yet, and I don't want to even see blank columns for period 6 to 12.
    How do I define my columns, to achieve this.
    Maximum points will be awarded.
    Thanks Everyone.

    Hi Josh,
    I'm having a little difficuluty understanding what should be included in my restricted key figures.
    The time characteristics that I have available to use are:
    0FISCPER3 (posting period)
    0FISCYEAR (fiscal year), currently using SAP EXIT to default current fiscal year.
    0FISCVARNT (fiscal year variant).
    In addition, I have the following characteristics available to be used in the columns:
    Value type (10)
    version (currently I'm using variable for it)
    Currency type (020)
    Currency (USD).
    Can you explain what my restricted key figure should be based on and how it should look.
    I tried to create a restircted key figure using 0AMOUNT, and 0FISCPER3. For 0FISCPER3  I created a range from 1 to previous period (using SAP EXIT that supplied previous period).I also had value type, version, currency type, and currency included in that restricted key figure.Then when I tried to drag 0FISCPER3 under the restricted key figure once again, it wouldn't let me, probably because I've already used 0FISCPER3 in the restricted key figure.
    Please let me know if my explanation is not clear.
    Your step by step help would be great.
    Thanks

  • Named query problem, [TOPLINK-6008] error

    I created a simple table in database (one column, two rows). I created java class and Data Control and dragged the Data Control onto JSP page. Data were shown ok. Then I tried to create named query (simple SELECT MyCol FROM FROM MyTable). This time the new Data Control on JSP didn't work (no data shown). So I tried this scriptlet on jsp:
    <%
    String sDC = "MyDataControl";
    DCDataControl dc = HttpBindingContext.getContext(request).findDataControl(sDC);
    ClientSession cs = ((ToplinkDataControl)dc).getClientSession();
    Vector all = (Vector)cs.executeQuery("MyNamedQuery",mypackage.MyTable.class);
    %>
    Last row causes error
    Exception [TOPLINK-6008] (OracleAS TopLink - 10g (9.0.4) (Build 031126)): oracle.toplink.exceptions.QueryException
    Description: Missing descriptor for [mypackage.MyTable] for query named [MyNamedQuery].
         at oracle.toplink.exceptions.QueryException.descriptorIsMissingForNamedQuery(QueryException.java:282)
         at oracle.toplink.publicinterface.Session.executeQuery(Session.java:878)
         at dataPage.jspService(dataPage.jsp:26)
    Does anybody have an idea why the jsp page with Data Control based on named query is empty and why above scriptlet causes that error ? Thanks.

    This solution only applies to earlier version of JDeveloper. In 10.1.3 the TopLink metadata (XML deployment descriptor) is automatically generated during the build/make process as required. In earlier version this is a required step after any change is made to the mappings .
