I want to create new dynamic distribution group as filter office location. So I would like to request you please suggest the script through Power shell or graphical interface.

If you don't use OUs to separate your users and use the 'Office' field in Active Directory you can create Dynamic lists for this property as well.
The Office field, which stores its information in the physicalDeliveryOfficeName attribute of the object, can be referenced to create a list by using this PowerShell command:
New-DynamicDistributionGroup -Name <LIST NAME> -RecipientFilter {office -eq '<OFFICE NAME OR LOCATION>'} -RecipientContainer '<LOCATION OF USERS ALLOWED IN THE LIST>' -OrganizationalUnit '<LOCATION OF WHERE LIST WILL BE STORED IN ACTIVE
DIRECTORY' -Alias 'LIST ALIAS'
Tested and verified with Exchange 2010

Dynamic Distribution Groups not working with Office365 Mailboxes

Ok so my problem is this. I am creating new dynamic distribution lists based on office location with the option to look at the notes section in AD and add an additional office if a user needs to be on both lists.
We have recently started using Office365 for some users and they need to get the emails too.
When I create the group initially using:
New-DynamicDistributionGroup -Name "Location-London UK" -OrganizationalUnit "domain.net/Groups/Email Groups/Locations" -RecipientContainer "domain.net/Our Users" -RecipientFilter {(RecipientType -eq 'MailUser') -or (RecipientType
-eq 'UserMailbox') -and (Office -eq 'London') -or (Notes -eq 'London')}
It creates the group limiting to the Accounts with London as their office but it includes every Office365 mailbox we have also.
There is a DDG in our EMC for an office in Hong Kong but I am not aware of who created it.
Its filter says:

This group includes only the users with Hong Kong as well as Office365 users with Hong Kong as their office location
Ive tried to recreate this DG but cant as using Powershell still makes groups with the Office265 users in them.
The only way ive successfully created a London DG is by using ADSIedit to copy the msExchQueryFilter from Hong Kong to London and change the Office Name to London
Any help would be appreciated

For your recipient filter, use the following:
{((RecipientType -eq 'MailUser') -or (RecipientType -eq 'UserMailbox')) -and
((Office -eq 'London') -or (Notes -eq 'London'))}
See if that works ... that's effectively how the Hong Kong one is built. Make sure you get the extra parentheses (I bolded them), they should make the difference.

Want to create a new dynamic DL based on the country location of the 365 license..

We're presently in hybrid mode, but we'll soon be moving entirely to 365. In preparation i'd like to start creating new dynamic distribution groups. We have offices in Korea, China, EU, and the US. My idea is to create the dynamic DL's
based on the country where the license was applied. In the example below, the users license was assigned in Korea. So ideally my new dynamic DL would filter on that property (i.e. anyone's mailbox where the users license was assigned to Korea)
to create an "All Korea" distribution group.
Does anyone know what the powershell syntax might be? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Interesting. The command ran without error, but then when i checked the group through the portal it didn't display the recipient filter. Seemed like it just created a generic dynamic DL and it was prompting me for things like mailbox type.

I am trying to create powershell command that will read a CSV file for "Name" and "Dept" and create a Dynamic Distribution Group based on the following Recipient Filter.

Create Dynamic Distribution Groups Using Customized Filters

I am looking to create a new Dynamic Distribution List.
Example:
DL - United States Users ([email protected])
In AD we have the 'Office' field filled accordingly, which contains the attribute USCA___ or USIL (US,California,etc or US, Illinois,etc).
I was wanting to try creating these using this command/script;
New-DynamicDistributionGroup -Name "DL - United States Users" -RecipientFilter {(RecipientType -eq 'UserMailbox') -and (Office -eq 'USCA*')(Office -eq 'USIL*')}
Assistance here please:
1. What needs to be added in that line so that only certain users can email to it, rejecting all others (i.e. The Helpdesk or Corporate Communications)
2. Is there a way to specify the SMTP address you want it to use?
3. Is there a way to have it only add mailboxes that are enabled in AD so disabled mailbox user accounts wont be added?

'US, California' -or (Office -like 'US, Illinois')) -and (UserAccountControl -ne 'AccountDisabled, NormalAccount')}
Then as what ED says, we can use the Set-DynamicDistributionGroup cmdlet with AcceptMessagesOnlyFrom or
AcceptMessagesOnlyFromDLMembers parameter to specify certain users who can send email messages to this dynamic distribution group. And use PrimarySMTPAddress parameter to specify the primary return SMTP email address for the distribution group.

Create/Edit "Custom Attributes" in Dynamic Distribution Groups

I wanna create a Dynamic Distribution Group based on the users "title" and "company".
I've noticed that there are 15 "Custom Attributes" that I can edit in someway, I guess via PowerShell?
So what is the easiest way to accomplice this?

Dynamic Distribution Group set conditions by importing text file?

Exchange 2010 SP2.
I created a dynamic distribution group via the EMC. We have populated AD with ExtenstionAttribute1 and ExtensionAttribute2. I have created the ddg with custom attribute1 value = employee. What I need to do now is populate custom attribute
2 = 00-0001, 00-0002, and so on. There are about 300 of these numbers I need to add. I have them in a text file or csv file. Instead of adding them one by one in the EMC, is there a way to import them via powershell to the existing ddg?
The ddg is called All Management Employees.

If they go from 00-0001 to 00-0300, you could just add them as follows:
Set-DynamicDistributionGroup <group name> -RecipientFilter "(CustomAttribute1 -eq 'employee') -and (CustomAttribute2 -like '00-0*')"
However, if you have additional items like this (such as 00-0350, etc), you may need to use the following:
Set-DynamicDistributionGroup <group name> -RecipientFilter "(CustomAttribute1 -eq 'employee') -and ((CustomAttribute2 -like '00-00*') -or (CustomAttribute2 -like '00-01*') -or (CustomAttribute2 -like '00-02*') -or (CustomAttribute2 -eq '00-00300')"
Now, if your numbering isn't sequential and it can't be, you would need to add them individually - which may make your search filter unusable, in which case, you may need to create several dynamic groups and add them to a parent group.

Dynamic Distribution Group - RecipientContainer ignored

When i set the container in powershell and confirm that the setting took I then run the preview filter. It is for sure pulling from out side the OU that I set in the container parm.
Any help on this issue?

In exchange management console it is very simple to provide the access.Please follow steps.
1.Open the Exchange Management Console (EMC)
2.Locate the distribution list .
3.Right-click on it and select Properties
4.Open the Mail Flow Settings tab
4.Select Message Delivery Restrictions
5.Then select the option only senders in the following list and add the DL that you would like to provide access to send email to that group.

Unable to create working dynamic distribution list based on manager

I am struggling to create a working dynamic distribution group. I am following the instructions at http://help.outlook.com/en-gb/140/Dd264647.aspx.
My intent is to create DDG's based on a user's manager and their job title. In my org, sales managers will typically have 3 teams reporting to them. In our AD, this would be marked by a 3-4 letter acronym in the job title field (CSO,DCO,SDCO).
I am trying to create distribution groups for use by their manager by having the manager and job title item as the filter, using the following script:
New-DynamicDistributionGroup -Name "GROUPNAME" -RecipientFilter {(RecipientType -eq 'UserMailbox') -and (manager -eq 'Managername') -and (title -eq 'ACRONYM')}
As an aside, I am unable to find if the manager object should be an alias, upn or ad object. I've tried with all with no success.
No matter what permutations of the above script I try, nothing seems to work. The group creates, but does not work at all.
Any help you can provide would be very much appreciated!

I did try that, and as it turned out, I was using the wrong powershell from the start.
The commands above are for Office 365, not on-prem Exchange 2013. Having spoken to Microsoft, it seems like the AD object for manager may not be a filterable option at all, I'm waiting to hear back.
If this can help jog anyone's mind, the commands we're looking towards now look something like this:
New-DynamicDistributionGroup -Name "testname" -Alias "testname" -IncludedRecipients "MailboxUsers,MailContacts" -OrganizationalUnit "domain.local/users" -ConditionalDepartment "Test" -RecipientContainer "domain.local"
We're still looking for a filter for manager in there, and I'll update the thread if I get anything worthy of note. Bear in mind that it's going to be difficult to settle for anything less than the manager object to filter by, as our requirements pretty
much demand it.

How to create Exchange dynamic distribution list using multivalue extension custom attribute

I am trying to create a dynamic distribution list using an ExtensionCustomAttribute. I am in hybrid mode with Exchange 2013. The syntax I have is this:
New-DynamicDistributionGroup -Name "DG_NH" -RecipientFilter {(ExtensionCustomAttribute2 -eq 'NH')}
This works correctly on-prem. But hosted always results in an empty list. I can see in dirsync the attribute is in the hosted environment, but for whatever reason, the distribution group gets created but always come up null.
If I create a group looking at the single valued attributes, such as CustomAttribute6 -eq 'Y', it works correctly on-prem and hosted.
If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.

I don't think I provided enough information about the problem. Let me add some and see if it makes sense.
I have an Exchange 2013 on-premise configured in hybrid mode with Office365. For testing purposes, I have 2 users, Joe and Steve, one with the mailbox on-prem, and the other with the mailbox in the cloud. Each of them has CustomAttribute6 = 'Y'
and ExtensionCustomAttribute2 = 'NH'. Dirsync shows these users and these attributes are synced between on-prem and cloud.
Using on-prem Exchange powershell, I run the following command:
New-DynamicDistributionGroup -Name "DG_NH" -RecipientFilter {((RecipientType -eq UserMailBox) -or (RecipientType -eq MailUser) -and (CustomAttribute6 -eq 'Y')}
This correctly finds the 2 users when I query for them as follows:
$DDG = Get-DynamicDistributionGroup DG_NH
Get-Recipient -RecipientPreviewFilter $DDG.RecipientFilter | FT alias
So I then delete this DG, and recreate it this time looking at the multi-value attribute ExtensionCustomAttribute2, as follows:
New-DynamicDistributionGroup -Name "DG_NH" -RecipientFilter {((RecipientType -eq UserMailBox) -or (RecipientType -eq MailUser) -and (ExtensionCustomAttribute2 -eq 'NH')}
Replaying the query above, I can see this also works fine and finds my two users.
Next I open a new powershell and connect to Office 365 and repeat the process there.
New-DynamicDistributionGroup -Name "DG_NH" -RecipientFilter {((RecipientType -eq UserMailBox) -or (RecipientType -eq MailUser) -and (CustomAttribute6 -eq 'Y')}
This correctly finds the 2 users when I query for them.
And then delete the group and recreate it using the multi-value attribute:
New-DynamicDistributionGroup -Name "DG_NH" -RecipientFilter {((RecipientType -eq UserMailBox) -or (RecipientType -eq MailUser) -and (ExtensionCustomAttribute2 -eq 'NH')}
When I run the query this time it produces no result. Every test I try results in an empty group if I am using a multi-valued attribute in the search criteria in the cloud. If I use single valued attribute, it works fine.
I really need to be able to get multi-valued DDG's working in the cloud. If anyone has done this and has any suggestions, I would appreciate seeing what you did. And if this is the wrong forum to port this, if you can point me to a more suitable
forum I will report there.
