Create or replace object

I'm new to Oracle so forgive me if this is a stupid question, but why can't I reference table columns when creating my object?
CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE oRS3_obj_CmpdLotSampleID AS object (hts_sample.alternate_id%TYPE, hts_compound_lot.lot_id%TYPE, hts_sample.sample_id%TYPE);

Look at it this way.
The prime benefit of using my_tab.col1%TYPE in PL/SQL is that it prevents us having to change our programs every time a table definition changes. Unfortunately the same flexibility does not exist in Objects: if the Object signature needs to change we have to drop and recreate the object. So there would be no benefit from using the %TYPE declaration anyway.

  • Generate Script to Project doesn't  generate CREATE OR REPLACE objects

    Hi,
I am using VS2008 SP1 with ODT. If I go to ServerExplorer to connected database and run Generate Script to Project the object (Package, package body , function ...) is always
created to the project as CREATE function myfunction.
I need to have it in this way CREATE OR REPLACE ... to run it against database.
Is there any way to configure it somehow ?
    Thanks in advance
    Jörg

Hi there is currently no way to automatically generate CREATE or REPLACE instead of just CREATE. You'll need to manually modify the file to add the "or REPLACE" to the stmt or add a DROP line just before the CREATE stmt.

  • Create Or Replace Function Error

    Hello,
I'm doing text mining using Oracle SQL Developer: ODMiner.. I imported the data "WEBLOG" into a table.. This weblog data consist of users activity, date, time, url, etc. The first step I took was to use a function to transform date and time that I have in the data table, into a number representing the 40 mins since 01-01-1990. I did this by dividing it by 2400 (seconds in 40 mins). The main purpose is to have a time frame for the sessions.
    I used the following code,
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION ssnDate(
    DATE IN VARCHAR2 DEFAULT 03-01-18,
    TIME IN VARCHAR2
    ) RETURN NUMBER
    AS
    BEGIN
    RETURN TRUNC((to_date(DATE||' '||TIME, 'DD-MM-YY HH:MM:SS')- to_date('01-JAN-1990','DD-MON-YYYY')) * (86400/2400);
    END ssnDate;
This was what appeared in the log after running the statement,
    FUNCTION ssnDate compiled
    Warning: execution completed with warning
After this, I tried to create a VIEW to transform the DATE and TIME with the ssnDate that was created earlier on, and concatenate the CS_URI_STEM (which is the resource accessed), and CS_URI_QUERY (which is the the query, if any, the client was trying to perform)into a new field called WEB_LINK.
    This is the code used,
CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW WEBLOG_VIEWS("C_IP", "WEB_LINK", "CS_USER_AGENT", "SESSION")
    AS
    SELECT ssnDate(LOG_DATE, LOG_TIME) AS 'SESSION',
    C_IP,
    CS_USER_AGENT,
    (CS_URI_STEM||'?'||CS_URI_QUERY) AS WEB_LINK
    FROM WEBLOG;
Now from this I got the following error..
Error starting at line 1 in command:
CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW WEBLOG_VIEWS("C_IP", "WEB_LINK", "CS_USER_AGENT", "SESSION")

I would really be grateful for any inputs on where I'm going wrong and any solutions for that!

  • Generate-Script generates only create package not create or replace package

    Hello,
I try do work with the Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio 2010 to include my PL/SQL-code in TFS. I have include all my PL/SQL-code in a Oracle-Projekt and check it in. Than I'm working with Visual Studio to update my packages. I open a package from the Server-Explorer, debug and compile it. When finished, I want to check in the new code. For this I call Generate Create-Script in the Server-Explorer and save the code my project. This code starts with CREATE PACKAGE ...
If I start this script on our production-system I get the error ORA-00955: Es gibt bereits ein Objekt mit diesem Namen (There is a object with this name ...). So it would be better the Create-Script would start with CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE .... Is there a way to do this? When not, what is the recommended workflow for coding, debugging, compiling and checking in TFS?
    Thanks

  • Creating Multiple Resource Objects for OOTB Connectors

    All,
I am trying to create a second AD User resource object for the OOTB connector. I would like to think that the AD Connector (and all connectors, for that matter) was designed to handle the creation of multiple Resource Objects for the same Resource Types, but am I wrong? It doesn't seem like the OIM Connector can handle this easily.
Has anyone created multiple resource objects for a connector? Is this a fairly simple task, or will it require a large effort? Is it even possible? Any pointers?
    Thanks!

I will provide a little help with the duplication. I found the best way to do it is to import the original connector. Go through the different pieces making each one have a unique name, that is not part of any of the other piece names. You need to have unique names for the following:
    1. Resource Object
    2. Process Definition - Provisioning
    3. IT Resource
    4. Form - Process
    5. Scheduled Task
After you import the connector, rename each of the following to something unique. I would also update your process form to have a default value of your IT Resource, as well as your scheduled task values to point to the new unique names. Export the 5 items, no dependecies. The adapters will all be the same. Use find and replace for the values and then import the new XML. If it works, duplicate the XML for each of the new workflows you want to create.

But I would like to know will 'create or replace procedure' change the last_ddl_time in user_objects view? • How to check if the directory is created using create or replace directory

    Hello,
I have create a directory as below:
Create or Replace Directory TEST_DIR AS 'C:\ABCD'
How to check if the directory is created or not? Is there any query for that?
    Thanks in advance.
    PK

This command does create a directory object inside the database. It does not mean that a directory is created outside the database (e.g. the file system).
You can check if this oracle directory exists with:
    untested
select * from user_directories;To check if the directory in the OS exists and if the database has the appropriate permissions to read/write to this directory you need to connect as user "oracle" (default installation) and try to get to this folder.

  • Create Or Replace Type How can I to use ?

    Hi
Where can I to find examples using Type (create or replace type) and call in Procedure ?

There is a wide range of requirements one can satisfy using Oracle's advance data types.
The complexity of which differs from one to another - which means that no single set of examples can cover the whole spectrum of how these data types can be applied.
Exactly what do you have in mind? Do you intend to use it in an object-relational design fashion? In a PL/SQL object-orientated fashion? Simply for dealing with issues like bulk processing? Etc.
For example, how to construct an object of an advance data type can be as simple as calling the default constructor to being as complex as discussing how to implement inherantance constructors up the chain of parent classes (types) from which the current class has been subclassed from.
If you can provide more details on your requirements, we will better be able to answer your questions.

do not create triggers on schema objects owned by sys.
Use a different schema for schema objects - create one if necessary.

  • Error while creating a system object for R3 in portal

    Hi,
I am getting error while trying to create a system object in portal.
Following are the details I used :
    Under WAS...
    Web AS Host Name :<XXXX>:8001
    Web AS path: /sap/bc/bsp/sap/
    Web AS protocol : http
    Under User management:
Authentication Ticket Type : SAP Logon Ticket
    Logon Method :SAPLOGONTICKET
    User Mapping Type : admin,user
    Under Connector:
    SAP Client : <Client NO>
    SAP System ID : <System ID>
    SAP System No : <System No>
    System Type : SAP_R3
While trying with connection test... I am getting like this:
    SAP Web AS Connection
      Test Details:
The test consists of the following steps:
    1. Checks the validity of system ID in the system object.
    2. Checks if the system can be retrieved from the PCD.
    3. Check whether a SAP system is defined in the system object
    4. Validate the following parameters: WAS protocol; WAS host name
    5. Checks if the host name of the server can be resolved.
    6. Pings the server to see if it is alive.
    7. Pings the WAS ping service; works only if the service is activated on the ABAP WAS.
    8. Checks HTTP/S connectivity to the defined back-end application
      Results
    1. The system ID is valid
    2. The system was retrieved.
    3. The system object represents an SAP system
    4. The following parameters are valid: Web AS Protocol (http) Web AS Host Name (<FQDN server name>:8001)
    5. The host name <FQDN Server Name> was resolved successfully.
    6. The server sapdwh01 could not be pinged successfully.
    Test Connection with Connector
      Test Details:
The test consists of the following steps:
    1. Retrieve the default alias of the system
    2. Check the connection to the backend application using the connector defined in this system object
      Results
    Retrieval of default alias successful
Connection failed. Make sure that Single Sign-On is configured correctly
It seems that the portal is not able to ping to R3 system. I tried to ping to R3 server from portal server by command prompt. I am able to ping. Also under SICF, I can see ping service as in activated state.
    Kindly help.
    Regards,
    Niraj

I created a SAP Transactional iView for transaction SE80.
Also, I tried from under System Administration -> Support -> SAP Transaction. It is not working.
    Got portal Runtime error :
