Create table in DB2

I use JDBC Type 4 driver to connect to Db2.
But the statement always trigger Exception.
SQLException DB2 SQL error SQLCODE:-104
SQLSTATE:42601
Did I configure DB2 wrong?
This statement is ok for oracle and mysql.
CREATE TABLE department
dept_id integer NOT NUlL,
dept_name varchar(20) NOT NULL,
location varchar(5)

sorry,but create table or insert always trigger
exception.It should work at least with the app-driver. I don't know if type 4 driver (is this the pure-java driver!?) supports it. But with the
COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver create table works fine.
I would also suggest problem is with the strange execution used. Don't use prepared statement or getResultSet() and executeQuery() for anything other than SELECT. For DDL statements you should use execute() only. For DML you can use executeUpdate() to get number of rows updated (if supported by driver).

    Hi,
    I have installed the DB2 client and from Access with the same ODBC is possible to import tables, but I don't understand why I can't do this operation from Administration Tool.
    Do you know how can I test the ODBC? Or if it is possible to see the error with more details (any log file)? I have tested a lot of things, but I can't solve the issue.
    The PATH system variable is right:
    D:\oracle\bise1\bi\server\Bin;D:\oracle\bise1\bi\web\bin;D:\oracle\bise1\bi\web\catalogmanager;D:\oracle\bise1\bi\SQLAnywhere;D:\oracle\bise1\jdk\bin;D:\oracle\bise1\db\bin;D:\oracle\bise1\owb\bin;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;C:\TOOLS;C:\PROGRA~1\IBM\CLIENT~1\Shared;C:\PROGRA~1\IBM\CLIENT~1;C:\PROGRA~1\IBM\CLIENT~1\Emulator;
    And in the path that it is mentioned in the error I can find the dll.
    Are being doing any wrong step to import a table?
    Thank you and regards,

  • Create table dinamically using java sql types?

    Hi! I've an application that reads an XML file. This file contains de definitions of some tables, using java sql types. For example:
    <dbtable>
      <dbtablename>Name of table</dbtablename>
      <dbtablefield>
        <name>Name of table field</name>
        <type>java.sql.Types.VARCHAR</type>
        <length>10</lenght>
        <canNull>0</canNull>
        <isPK>1</isPK>
      </dbtablefield>
    </dbtable>That's a little example of one table, with one field. Is a java.sql.Types.VARCHAR (or is equivalent in int), which has a size of 10, it cannot be null and is a primary key for the table.
    Now, the lenght, null, and primary keys are not problem at all. What I want to know, is how do I create de table using the java.sql.Types. I mean, I don't want to hard code:
    String s = "CREATE TABLE name (COLUMN VARCHAR(10)...";Instead, I want to use some "wild cards", as are used in PreparedStatement. The idea of this is that no matter what DB I'm using, I must always be capable of creating the tables not worrying for the DB. I mean, I must be able to create the table in Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, etc., using the same XML and the same java class.
    Something like:
    String s = "CREATE TABLE name (COLUMN ? (10)...";
    someobject.setObject(1,java.sql.Types.VARCHAR);
    someobject.execute(); //create tableIs this possible? Or do I have to make a map for each DB?
    Thanks a lot for your help! Dukes available!

    you can provide some fields at runtime..
    for example
    "CREATE TABLE name (COLUMN" + arg[1] +"(10)..."
    here arg is the string array passed into the main.

  • Schematool creates tables in default schema

    Hi,
    we are using db2 7.2 and have following problem:
    We have to create all tables in a specific schema (tolina), so i set up
    the kodo-properties to:
    com.solarmetric.kodo.impl.jdbc.DictionaryProperties = SchemaName=tolina
    I would expect that sql-code will be generated like that:
    CREATE TABLE tolina.SomeBO (JDOIDX BIGINT NOT NULL, .....
    The Schematool generates creates without schemaname, a bug?
    Best regards Claudius
    PS: We consider to update to 2.5 is that a problem with our Lizenskey we
    bought?

    Hi again,
    I didn't notice that it worked with automatically generated tables!
    When I provide the tablename in the JDO-Metadata then the
    getValidTableName() method will be not used. Is that projected?
    I use FlatInheritanceMapping, so I want to control the mapping and the
    necessary joins through the tablenames...
    I look forward to your answer and be patient with me ;o)
    Best regards Claudius

    Hi Abe,

    public class MyDB2Dictionary extends
    com.solarmetric.kodo.impl.jdbc.schema.dict.DB2Dictionary {
    public String getValidTableName(String name) {
    return "tolina."+name;
    As you can see I do not use getSchemaName() because KODO dont care about
    the
    com.solarmetric.kodo.impl.jdbc.DictionaryProperties = SchemaName=tolina
    property. Why is that so? What I have to do to get this property?
    I use kodo 2.4.3 SE (bought on 30.01.2003).
    When I run the Schematool it says that my Dictionary is used:
    [schematool] 10685 [main] INFO jdbc.JDBC - Using dictionary class
    "de.tolina.common.jdo.DB2Dictionary" to connect to "DB2/NT" (version
    "07.02.0006") with JDBC driver "IBM DB2 JDBC 2.0 Type 2" (version
    "07.02.0006")
    but it seems that the Schematool dont use my Dictionary because all tables
    will be placed in the default db schema! I proved that by some logs.
    Can you tell me what I made wrong?
    Abe White wrote:
    Sorry; I wasn't thinking. There's a much better workaround. Just
    override the appropriate methods of the DBDictionary for your database,
    and plug your new dictionary into Kodo. See the descriptions of the
    com.solarmetric.kodo.impl.jdbc.DBDictionary* configuration properties in
    the reference guide.
    p.s. You could also use metadata extensions on M-M fields to control the
    table name generated, but the above solution using the DBDictionary is
    much easier, since you just have to override one method (the
    getValidTableName() method, IIRC).

    While creating table using the syntax create table newtab...as select * from tab@dblink .. I am facing a problem. The newtab table created is having a structure different (from datalength point of view of varchar2 and char datatypes) from the source. The data length is getting tripled i.e. if a column a is varchar2(20) in tab then it is becoming --- a varchar2(60) in newtab. This is happening in solaris environment when the two databases are in 2 different servers. Please let me know if there are any patches to resolve the problem.

    3-I should populate the created table with the data from the exported data.
    4-How should I add the second and third imported table to the first table? Should I use union query?

  • Sql ddl replication strange behavior with create table

    ALTER TABLE test
    ADD CONSTRAINT pk_test PRIMARY KEY (a);
    when I deploy and sync, on the mobile I have the table well created, but the not null and default sysdate on the b column on are not set. It's null with no default values.
    Have anyone an idea ?
    Thank's for reply.

    We do not replicate not null or default values on Oracle Lite 5.0.2.x. This functionality will be available in the 10g release of Oracle Lite.

  • 30EA3 - Edit Table/Create Table(Advanced) - Table Name, Text Box Size

    I am not sure if its the same on non-Linux versions, but in the edit table dialog, the table name text box size is tiny. Its only wide enough that you can see approx 7 chars.
    Is it possible to increase this? The size of the text box in the simple create table dialog seems like a good size. As far as I can tell, it is not tiny to conserve space for other items.
    Anyway, it's just a minor issue that wont prevent me from doing work - just think it'd be better a bit bigger. I am sure it didn't used to be this small.
