Create table statement in stored procedures
Hi,
I am including the following statement in a stored procedure and receive the following error:
STATEMENT:
create table wrk_date (date date,
qty smallint)
tablespace temptabs;
ERROR:
PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "CREATE" when expecting one of the following:
begin declare exit for goto if loop mod null pragma raise
return select update while <an identifier>
<a double-quoted delimited-identifier> <a bind variable> <<
close current delete fetch lock insert open rollback
savepoint set sql commit <a single-quoted SQL string>
Is this statement not allowed or is there a possible syntax error above?
I am using Oracle database version 8.0.5.
Thanks.

Jimmy - You might want to buy the Following book from Oreilley Press Oracle Built in Pacakages it's very very good and came in handy when I has to write dynamic SQL (DBMS_SQL package).
You might want to try www.bookpool.com which has technical books cheaper than amazon.
Hope this helps.

Privilege error while running Create Table Script inside Stored Procedure.
Hello All,
I have Oracle 10G server and SQL Developer Client,
I have One User with Appropriate Rights, Login with that user from SQL Developer(client),
Within my Procedure, Dynamic SQL script is like If I pass in a TABLE NAME as parameter, It Creates that table, but now problem is It throws an error for Privilege.
Where as if I Execute Create table script outside the procedure(as Normal SQL), it executes Ok, but why it throws Privilege error within procedure ?
Whether any extra Rights needed for this user to execute such Create Table Dynamic SQL?
Please Help.
Thanks,

if you omit it then it will no longer will be run if the creator doesnt have privelege to run this ddl regardless invoker has or not.
i hope you got it

How Create a Global Temporary Table inside a Stored Procedure?
Hi...
I need to create a Global Temporary Table inside a Stored
Procedure....
I have no idea how to do that....
Please....if u can send me a sample, send to me....
Thanks a lotthere are many ways to do this..
one u can use dbms_utility package to run ddl statements like
for ex:
declare
t varchar2(200):='order_no';
v number;
begin
--dbms_utility.exec_ddl_statement('select '||t||' into '||v||'
from
--ordermaster where rownum=1');
dbms_utility.exec_ddl_statement('create table cvt(t number)');
dbms_output.put_line(v);
end;
but the actual method(recommended) involves a bit coding using
dbms_sql package you will find examples on technet or metalink
to use this package..
I hope this helps

How can i create a Global Temporary Table inside a Stored Procedure....
Hi...
I need to create a Global Temporary Table inside a Stored
Procedure....
I have no idea how to do that....
Please....if u can send me a sample, send to me....
Thanks a lotTo create a global temporary table inside a stored procedure,
the minimal syntax would be:
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE procedure_name
AS
BEGIN
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'CREATE GLOBAL TEMPORARY TABLE table_name'
|| '(column_name NUMBER)';
END procedure_name;
As Todd stated, it would probably be better to create the global
temporary table outside of the procedure:
SQL> CREATE GLOBAL TEMPORARY TABLE table_name
2 (column_name NUMBER);
Table created.
You can also specify things like ON COMMIT PRESERVE ROWS or ON
COMMIT DELETE ROWS.
It may be that there is something else, like a PL/SQL table of
records or a cursor, that would suit your needs better. It is
difficult to guess without knowing what you want to do with it. -
Returning a table from a stored procedure
hi, i need to return a table from a stored procedure and show it, and come to this, but a don't know hoy to run it, so i don't know if it is right, can anyone help me?
uTable out objects_uptime%rowtype
as
begin
select * into uTable from objects_uptime;
end;well, i finally discovered how to do the trick
this is the code for the function:
CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION FN_GET_RECORDS RETURN UPTIME PIPELINED IS
CURSOR cUptime is select * from objects_uptime;
p refcur.refcur_t;
temp p%ROWTYPE;
temp2 OUPTIME := OUPTIME(null, null, null, null, null, null, null, null, null);
BEGIN
OPEN cUptime;
LOOP
FETCH cUptime into temp;
temp2.OBJ_NAME := temp.OBJ_NAME;
temp2.IP := temp.IP;
temp2.STATUS := temp.STATUS;
temp2.DOE := temp.DOE;
temp2.ENABLED := temp.ENABLED;
temp2.COMMENT00000 := temp.COMMENT00000;
temp2.USERID := temp.USERID;
temp2.OBJECTID := temp.OBJECTID;
temp2.MNTID := temp.MNTID;
pipe row(temp2);
EXIT WHEN cUptime%NOTFOUND;
END LOOP;
RETURN;
END FN_GET_RECORDS;
and this for the auxiliar package, object and table:
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE REFCUR
as
TYPE refcur_t IS REF CURSOR RETURN objects_uptime%ROWTYPE;
end REFCUR;
CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE OUPTIME AS OBJECT ( "OBJ_NAME"
VARCHAR2(255), "IP" VARCHAR2(20), "STATUS" VARCHAR2(10),
"DOE" DATE, "ENABLED" NUMBER(10, 1), "COMMENT00000"
VARCHAR2(1000), "USERID" VARCHAR2(50), "OBJECTID" NUMBER(10,
1), "MNTID" NUMBER(10, 1) )
CREATE TYPE TUPTIME AS
TABLE OF OUPTIME
i call it this way:
select * from table(FN_GET_RECORDS ())
if anyone knows how to do the same in a shorter manner, tell me please.
thanks to everybody for the help. -
Problem creating dataset using db2 stored procedure in Eclipse BIRT
Hi,
I am using DB2 9.7 Express Edition in Eclipse BIRT(version 2.5.1) for generating reports. I have used Type4 driver for jdbc connection.
For that, I have established jdbc connection using db2jcc.jar and db2jcc_license_cu.jar files.
I have successfully created data source, say DB2BIRT having following requisites-
Driver Class - com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2Driver ( v3.50)
Driver URL - jdbc:db2://localhost:50000/database_name
User name - user_name
Password - Password
I have written some stored procedures and trying to use resultsets from those stored procedures into my report..
The stored procedures having involvement of only single resultset are working absolutely fine for new dataset using above DB2BIRT.
But, I am unable to create new dataset using stored procedures those having involvement of multiple resultsets.
I am getting following error as -
org.eclipse.birt.data.engine.odaconsumer.PreparedStatement$SequentialResultSetHandler getMoreResults
SEVERE: Cannot get more result sets from the statement.
Cannot get the result set.

Moreover, I tried to resolve above issue by changing Driver Class from com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2Driver ( v3.50) to com.ibm.db2.jcc.uw.DB2StoredProcDriver ( v3.50)
So again while *"Test Connection"* for new Data source using this new driver class for stored procedure, there is an error reflection as -

Can anybody address my this issue for successful implementation of stored procedure(with involvement of multiple resultsets) for creating Data set in Eclipse BIRT ?
I will be really thankful.
Thanks in advance,
ManasiWell, in my stored procedure I have used 2 to3 cursors(as per my business logic) and all cursors except one are holding result sets. That exceptional cursor is intended for holding as well as returning result set after call to the procedure. And its perfectly running on db2 and returning the desired output. The problem is with Eclipse. The same procedure is not working in Eclipse BIRT.

Creating universe from MySql stored procedure?
Hi,
I am new to BusinessObjects. I need to create universes based on the schema in our MySql database. However, when I tried to create one from a stored procedure, I fount that I wasn't allowed to do that or the option to insert a stored procedure was grayed out.
Is it true that universe creation from MySql stored procedures not supported, or is it just something I didn't do right? Is there any workaround?
Thanks in advance!jason Lee,
You cannot combine universes with table structures with that of the stored procedures.Thats the reason in the existing universe the option is greyed out to insert stored procedures. You need to create a new universe thru design wizard and check the option to "create a universe through the stored procedure" in the first page.
Let me know your results
Thanks,

statement using sys.table? The create table statement should contains all the columns from Employee table.. i am using SQL server 2008 R2Hi SSAS_5000,
If you don't care about the constraints,dependency on the Table Employee and what you'd like is the table structure, you may use the below statement where the create statement generated from the SP is executed.
SELECT TOP 1 * INTO desiredTable FROM Eemploy;
TRUNCATE TABLE desiredTable
If you have question, feel free to let me know.
