Create view for Global Temporary Table

if view is create for global temporary table so exactly how it works which helps regarding application performance.
Regaards,

A view is just a stored query. It can be on global temporary tables or regular one, makes no difference.

  • What to fill in "temp table scope" for global temporary tables?

    Hi,
    I'm using Data Modeler 4.0.1.836 and whatever I put in the "temp table scope" box for a global temporary table doesn't seem to affect the DDL script regarding the ON COMMIT PRESERVE/DELETE ROWS option. The script always shows ON COMMIT PRESERVE ROWS no matter what.
    Yet, some of my temporary tables must be created as ON COMMIT DELETE ROWS.
    The Data Modeler help says the following about this :
    Temp Table Scope:
    For a table classified as Temporary, you can specify a scope, such as Session or Dimension.
    Not sure what "Dimension" has to do with the scope here, but it doesn't make any difference.
    I tried putting "Session", "Dimension", "Transaction", but no luck. So what's the text to put for the script to generate ON COMMIT DELETE ROWS?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    The Temporary Table Scope property (on the Classification Types page of the Table Properties dialog) is purely documentary.
    To set ON COMMIT DELETE ROWS you should expand the Browser node for the Relational Model and look for the node for the relevant Oracle Physical Model.  If you expand this you will find an entry there for your Table. Double-click on this to get the Physical Model properties dialog for your table, and you will find a "Temporary"  property which has options YES (Preserve Rows), YES (Delete Rows) or NO.

  • Can I use Parallel execution for Global Temporary table within SP and How

    Dear Gurus,
    I have Global temporary table as below
    Create global temporary table Temp_Emp
    empno number,
    ename varchar2(20),
    deptno number
    ) on commit preserve rows;
    During processing I insert the data into this table and then fire query on Temp_Emp, get the data and pass it to front end.
    The SP as shown below
    Create or replace procedure get_emp_data
    empid in number,
    emp_detail out RefCsr -- Ref cursor
    as
    begin
    -- some code here
    open emp_detail for
    select *
    from Temp_Emp
    where empno = empid;
    end get_emp_data;
    Can use Parallel Query execution on Temp_Emp table and how ?
    i.e. do need to explicitly use parallel construct in query or is it default.
    Because I have many SQL like above (on global temporary tables) within Stored Procedures.
    Can anybody give me any suggestion.
    Thanking in Advance
    Sanjeev

    How come you are populating a temporary table and then opening a cursor on this temporary table for the front end to use?
    Couldn't you presumably just form a query out of the code you use to populate the temporary table? This is the recommended approach in Oracle.

  • How to create index on Global Temporary Table?

    Hi,
    Can i create index with storage parameters on global temporary table? If possible, how?
    Thanks

    Yes. You can create an index on a global temporary table (GTT) with the regular 'CREATE INDEX' statement.
    Not sure though if you are allowed to locate it in a specific tablespace. Why would you want to do that anyway?
    My guess is, like the GTT, indexes on GTT's also default to the temporary tablespace.

  • Creating view for DataSource from table containing Structures.

    Hello All,
    I need to make a datasource for HR PY master data from a table PA9004(its special for a HR infotype) which needs some fields like PFOBEE(PF-Opening Balance-Ee).
    Field(PFOBEE) is part of a structure(PS0008) which is included in the table PA9004.I tried where-used list for this structure in programs,FuncModules,Tables but got no result of any transparent table.
    To form my Datasource I tried creating the Database view, which had inconsistencies. I tried using the table PA9004, which said "This operation failed, because the template structure quantity fields or currency fields, for example, field PFOBEE refer to a different table."
    Also Projection view cant be used for generic datasources.
    Even Create Infostructure(MC21) does not work for HR: PY-IO.
    All suggestions welcome.Mail me at [email protected]

    Hello All,
    I solved this problem by forming my generic datasource(TCode RSO2) on a Infoset which had the table pa9004. There were some warnings regarding the use of the development class, but finally I had the datasource ready.
    I checked the datasource is working using the RSA3 TCode and the DS is perfectly extracting the data. I replicated this DS in BW server and it appears exactly where I wanted.
    Some colleages had suggested writing a functional module to extract the data, which must be right but I have not tried this option yet.
    Experts may please review my solution and offer tips. I am willing to offer points to anyone offering a more elegant solution.

  • Transaction with Global Temporary Table

    Problem:
    Transaction starts with few DML statements and in the middle we are calling a JAVA method which creates the dynamic global temporary table and proceeding with few DML statements, if one of the statement fails, in the exception clause we are trying to rollback and transactions after the DDL (create global temp table) are rolled back and transactions before the DDL (create global temp table) are committed.
    We cannot pre-create the global temporary table, since we do not know the number of temp table to be pre-created.
    How we can resolve this issue? The same concept works for SQL server.
    Example of our issue:
    --drop table table1 purge;
    --drop table t_id purge;
    Create table table1 (col1 number, col2 varchar2(20));
    Insert into table1 values (1, 'Test1');
    Create global temporary table t_id (id number);
    Insert into table1 values (2, 'Test2');
    Rollback;
    After the rollback you can see only the 'Test1' record.

    > We cannot pre-create the global temporary table, since we do not know the number of temp table to be pre-created.
    I don't see how one procedure could need to create an unknown number of temporary tables. Do they all have different (and unknown) column lists? Couldn't you combine them into a single table with a key to distinguish betweeen the different sets of rows?

    p6.stb24 s
    p6.cuet c
    WHERE .......
    --now I want to create table and insert above data (from cursor rob_twin)
    --after that I need to order data by t.tary from new table
    --finally I want to drop this table
    Thank you for your help.
    Regards,
    Robert

    The point is in Oracle you do not create the temporary table at run-time, use it, and drop it again.
    But you can create a GTT (Global Temporary Table) once and then it stays in the data dictionary, just like a normal table. The "temporary" part is simply that the data is temporary, can only be seen in this one session, and will go away either on commit or when the session ends.
    So first you create a global temporary table with the columns you wish. Using either ON COMMIT DELETE ROWS or ON COMMIT PRESERVE ROWS you decide whether data in this GTT should survive across transactions or not.
    Your logic could then be to populate this GTT with data from your remote database using INSERT INTO gtt_table SELECT ... FROM ...@dblink
    Then work with that data in the GTT as you would with any normal local table
    And finally either you simply commit your transaction and the data in the GTT goes away (if you did ON COMMIT DELETE ROWS), or you just DELETE gtt_table.
    You do not continually create and drop a GTT. The table definition is permanent - it is only the data that is temporary.
    Edit:
    PS: As Karthick stated above - for almost any usual purposes it is likely to be possible to solve the problem without having to use GTT's. Usually even with db_links it can be done with suitable SQL and joins without having to use a GTT. But if that turns out to be one of those rare occasions where that is hard - then the above is the way to go ;-)

    I'm creating a global temporary table using a select query ..how to mention 'on commit preserve rows' that?
    create global temporary table t1 as select * from trn_ordbase on commit preserve rows;
    but this is invalid syntax,so how to mention on commit preserve rows in this???if i dont mention it ,by default its considering as on commit delete rows.

  • Need Advise on Global Temporary tables or Materialized views or Views

    Need advise on a plsql procedure working on.
    I had 6 tables having 200,000 rows in total intially,but will get added a maximum 20,000 rows daily by a batch process.
    I am writing a plsql code that takes an input ,for example customer_id, and is required to get all the data for that customer_id and
    had to do some complex calculation that includes stepwise validations before giving the output.Now while doing the logic it has the get the data for that customer_id from all the tables.
    There may be 100 records for that particular customer_id.
    I need advise on the below options.
    1.Use of global temporary tables get those 100 records and do the calculation part on that Global Temporary table.
    2.Use of Views or Materialized views.
    3.Using the Record Structures(like table types for those records) and then do the logic on them
    As Performance is the key point here i would like pull all the data at once into memory and then do the calculations instead of hitting the database many times, this is my main idea(correct me if am wrong).Also please advise if there are any other options
    I am using ORACLE 10G.
    Thanks
    Rede

    The approach that many advocate for here (including myself) is to do as much in SQL as possible. So, copying to GTTs or using record structures is probably not the solution you should be after.
    If you can provide the following details we may be able to steer you down the right path
    1. Oracle version (SELECT * FROM V$VERSION)
    2. Sample data in the form of CREATE / INSERT statements.
    3. Expected output
    4. Explanation of expected output (A.K.A. "business logic")
    5. Use \ tags for #2 and #3. See FAQ (Link on top right side) for details.
    Ideally try and re-create the problem, simplifying it as much as possible, without losing context. Use #1-#5 above as a base for posting your simplified problem here. Then we may be able to give you a solution specific to your problem.

    Hi,
    When I try to run the sql in my oracle 9i server which is installed in a windows2000 machine,
    Create global temporary table test ...;
    For the first time, I can create table successfully.
    But I cannot access this table any more:
    drop table test;
    desc test;
    select * from test;
    In addition, if I try to create the table again, I got the error:
    ORA-00955: name is already used by an existing object
    While the same table can be created and dropped in another oracle9i server which is installed in Solaris 9 machine.
    So I suspect that this sould be a bug of window oracle server.
    Is there anyone who can confirm this?
    Or who can tell me how to report this bug to oracle?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Creating a Global Temporary Table on non-default TEMP tablespace.

    Hello ,
    I am using Oracle 11g.
    I have a procedure which create global temporary tables for its functionality. As the data which is going in the global temporary table , mean the data which is going in the default TEMP tablesapce is too huge ..... billions of rows..
    So what i want to do is , I want to create the global temporary table in another TEMP2 tablespace ( which is not the default one) so the load of billions of rows of data will be shifted to TEMP2. The default TEMP tablespace will not be affected and it can be used for other transactions.
    Is this possible. Can i shift the global temporary table from TEMP( Default temp tablespace) to TEMP2 ( the non-default temp tablespace) ????
    Please guide me with proper solutions and examples ....

    Global temporary tables are instantiated in the temporary tablespace of the schema that inserts the data - not into "the default" temporary tablespace.
    Assume Schema1 creates a GTT and grants all on that table to schema2
    Assume schema1 also creates a procedure (authid owner, the default) to insert data into the GTT and grants execute on the procedure to schema2
    If schema2 executes: insert into schema1.gtt, the data will appear in the temporary tablespace of schema2
    If schema2 executes: execute schema1.procedure, the data will appear in the temporary tablespace of schema1
    So if you want to protect the "normal" temporary tablespace, you could just create a special temporary tablespace for the owner of the procedure.

  • Global Temporary table is Not working For Pdf Reports

    Hi all
    we are using oracle db-10g, developer suite-10g.
    While generating the Report for the satisfying several conditions we are fetching the data into
    Global temporary table
    On commit preserve rows
    from this temp tables excel is generated properly. but pdf is not generating can anybody exaplain why it is not generating and what to do for that
    Thank you

    query and view are not possible
    here i am giving one of the requirement
    my project is belongs to inventory project.
    report should be generated on the different selection criteria like
    1)user can select one or more product codes
    2)for that product code one or more item codes can select
    like this so many different selection are there more than 12 selections from different tables
    For this each different selection product code into gtt_prod_cd and item_cd into gtt_item_cd. after that performed the query and in where clause we are comparing the values with gtt.
    can you please suggest me what to do for PDF Reports
