Creating a crystal report from R/3

Hi,
I am new to R/3. I am trying to create a new crystal report from R/3. I already connect crystal report with R/3 using integration kit. My problem now is i not sure which field i should i take from a which table when i look in R/3.I been provided a link, http://www.sap-img.com/sap-sd/important-tables-for-sap-sd.htm where i can check all the table for SD, PM n etc. For example, i go to t.code VA03 and search for an order, i see there is so many field. How do i know which field is from which table n row. Let said i want to pull the below information to my crystal report, how do i know which table and row i should take ? (this is just an example)
PO Number, Po Date, Material, Order quantity, pricing date, net value and overall status
Thank you

  • Creating a Crystal Report from a non-SAP data base

    I have the following scenario
    server1\myDataBase
    server1\SAP\sapDataBases
in sapDataBases I have about 30 company databases. I am trying to create a report, that gets informatino from a table/view/SP from server1\myDataBase, when I try to PREVIEW or SAVE such report on SAP Business One, I always get errors as
I understand that this eerror means taht I can't invoke the data from out of SAP; it needs to be inside SAP (at least the SP, incoking some other data bases and stuff..)
Some bodies have told me that it is beacuase I can only create a report from a table/view/sp that resides in the running/currently SAP company database. Is this right?
Also, If this is the case, this means that If I have an SP taht I use for a crystal report, and 30 companies, I have to create such SP in the 30 companies?
    This is my software details:
    SQL Server 2012
SAP Business One 9 PL 11
SAP BusinessObjects Crystal Reports 2013 Support Pack 2 version 14.1.2.1121
What I want to do is to create a non-SAP data base to create all the SPs/Views for reports, to centralize it, and the just create one reporte and do the 30-imports in each company database, without the need of creating such sps/views in each company-database. Is this possible?
    Thanks

  • How to create a crystal reports from infocube

    Hi everyone
I'm a new one in BOBJ, after few weeks learning, I've come across a problem.
Is it possible to create a CR via an infocube?
What would i do if it's possible.
    Thank you very much

    Hello Ivan,
you can built a report against the cube and against the query level in Crystal Reports. We highly recommend the cube level.
why ? because when connecting to the cube directly you will lose the following:
    - navigational attributes
    - calculated keyfigures
    - restricted keyfigures
    - variables
    - conditions
    - authorization variables

    Hi,
I am using Jsp to create a crystal report from an oracle database. To create a new report document,i am using the ReportClientDocument class in the

    I am using this code:

I have to use an IReportAppFactory interface method which is part of the package com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.managedreports.*,, in order to create a new report document. Can anbody help be know how to use this interface in a Jsp??

    Hi Celia
    1. Yes the Java Reporting Component (JRC) which is the runtime component of the Crystal Reports for Eclipse can open reports outside the project.  Its often better to have the reports inside the project for deployment purposes but you are welcome to put the report where ever you need it.Â
Note: To use absolute paths, ensure that the CRConfig.xml file does not contain a reportlocation tag.
    2. The JRC can't report off of Oracle directly, you would need to use a JDBC driver to connect your reports to Oracle. The crdb_oracle.dll will never connect because its not Java.Â
    3. When the JRC finds that the report is not using a supported database driver it will do a lookup to find the name of the report datasource. When it finds the datasource name it will then do a JNDI lookup for a JDBC datasource with the same name. If your Application server doesn't have a datasource with that name it will through the error you were seeing.Â
    4. I'm not sure about losing the Command object when changing the datasource but this is probably happening because the Command is linked to the database driver.
    5. What you could try doing is creating a JDBC Datasource on your application server where this app will run with a JNDI name that matches your report datasource name. If your reports datasource name is "MyOracleDatasource" then I believe the JNDI name for new JDBC Datasource would have to be "jdbc/MyOracleDatasource".
You could give this a try.

  • How to configure Crystal Report from Test DB to Production DB

    Hi,
I have a VB/asp.net application that is currently using Oracle DB.
Now, I'm creating a new Crytal report that will connect using any userID, password, database, servername on runtime.
When I created the Crystal Report I used the Oracle OLE/DB connection using the test database logon information now I would like to make this  dynamic at form load event which I have my crystal report viewer configured and then pass the dataset regardless if it is coming from test or production database.
Now, at form load connection using the test database I can see the report properly which I provided with the same logon information when the crystal report was created but when I switch the login using the production database, it doesn't get the correct datasource and logon information and it still uses the test datasource.
I would appreaciate if you can give me a solution or any links of the previous threads that has similar issue with resolution or any sample that may help.
    Thank you,
    Ryan

    Hi Ryan
    I'd start with these samples:
    csharp_win_dbengine.zip / vbnet_win_dbengine.zip
    csharp_win_subreport_logon.zip / vbnet_win_subreport_logon.zip
Link to the samples and others is in this wiki: Crystal Reports for .NET SDK Samples - Business Intelligence (BusinessObjects) - SCN Wiki
Next, I find the Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2005 Walkthroughs to be an absolute gem (and it applies to all versions of CR and VS).
And of course, the developer help files:
SAP Crystal Reports .NET SDK Developer Guide
SAP Crystal Reports .NET API Guide
Now, one thing you don't mention is which APIs you are using; CR, or RAS - both of which may be available to you depending on the version of CR and VS you are using... RAS Developer Help files are here:
Report Application Server .NET SDK Developer Guide
Report Application Server .NET API Guide
The RAS APIs are a bit more complicated, but way more powerful. And there is even a utility that will write the DB logon code for you:
KBA: 1553921 - Is there a utility that would help in writing database logon code?
Finally, don't forget to search this SCN Space. Search box is in the top right corner. I find using short search string is best. E.g.; 'crystal net logon' will return a number of KBAs (notes), wikis, blogs, etc., etc.

  • Cannot refresh a stored procedure within a Crystal Report from Xcelsius

    Please help...Xcelsius 2008 & Live Office problem...
What I am trying to do is to refresh a stored procedure that is within a Crystal report from within my Xcelsius dashboard in Preview mode. The data returned appears on the Xcelsius dashboard. It works fine in Design mode, just not in Preview or when published as a swf.
    1. I set up a Crystal Report using a Stored Procedure as the data provider.
    2. The Stored Procedure has a parameter built into it.
    3. When the report is refreshed within Crystal, the prompt dialog box is displayed; I fill in the desired value, and run. Everything comes back fine.
    4. Crystal Report is exported to the repository.
    5. In Excel, I inserted the Crystal Report using Live Office. It shows up as a Live Office object just fine.
    6. I bound an Excel cell to the prompt; when you change the value in the bound cell, the Live Office object refreshes and displays the correct results.
    7. In Xcelsius, I imported the Excel spreadsheet.
    8. I set up a Text component that is bound to the cell containing the parameter value. Also set up a Grid to display the results, and a Connection Refresh button to call the refresh. Added a Live Office Data Connection pointing to the Web Service URL for the report.
Note: When in Designer mode, if the value of the bound cell is changed, the results in the grid change accordingly.
    9. When in Preview mode (or generated swf), if the Refresh button is pressed, a "User Identification" dialog box appears asking me to log on. The values it asks for are: System, User Name, Password, and Authentication. I enter the same credentials as are within the Live Office settings in Excel, (which are working correctly), but receive an error "soapenv:Server.generalException: Database logon failed.".
Note - all the id's are synced up - Business Objects, Database, etc.
I've tried all kinds of combinations, but nothing gets me past this error. If I use any other server than the one listed under System in Live Office, the error message is "soapenv:Server.generalException: Server XXXXX not found or server may be down".
I've noticed that in Excel directly, when I open the spreadsheet and refresh the Live Office object, I am prompted to log on to the database where the stored procedure is being executed. This dialog box does not appear once the Excel sheet has been imported into Xcelsius. One of the combinations I tried in the "User Identification" dialog box was the name of the database server, that didn't work either.
I also tried creating the Live Office object directly within the Excel spreadsheet in Xcelsius, but then I was unable to bind the prompt value. Could never get the Live Office/Properties menu to appear.
    Ideas? Thoughts?
    Thanks in advance!
    Stephanie

  • How to trigger crystal report from SAP ECC

    Hi All,
I hope i m right forum to ask this question.
we want to do label printing from Crystal reports. data will be present in SAP ECC .
    So I below issues
1 ) how to connect SAP ECC database with Crystal Reports.
2 ) how to trigger print output in Crystal reports from ECC , lets say I create a Delivery In ECC , the print output will be issued to Crystal report and I should get a print out Immediately ( for printing - printer will be connected to local system and SAP network printer ) .
I have worked  with this type of scenario in smarforms , adobeforms. but not with Crystal Reports ...
    Regards
    Yashpal Gupta.

    Hi Yashpal,
First thing you need to do is install the Connector on both your work station where you run Crystal Reports as well as the SAP Server where the data is.
So I moved your post to the SAP Integration Kit forum.
Need to know what version of Crystal Reports you are using?
Search of browse here, lots of info on how to...

  • Populating a Crystal Report from XML data

    Hi,
I want to populate a Crystal Report using a XML data structure. Below I have explained what Iu2019m trying to do in detail,
u2022 First I will create a Crystal Report using Crystal Report XI R2 designer  by connecting to a Oracle database using a native Oracle connection (not ODBC or JDBC)
u2022 Then I want to write a Java application using CR XI R2 JRC SDK to open this report
u2022 Then to run and populate this report using a XML data structure (which I have separately in a disk location. XSD too is available in disk)
u2022 Then to export this report with data to either PDF or RPT file with saved data in to disk.
    The questions I have are,
    1. Is this possible to do in away?
    2. If so, can you please provide me with a sample code for doing this? I tried some of the other threads in the forum but some had broken links.
    3. Do the xml and the xsd needs to be in a special format?
    4. Is there any other configuration setting I should do?
Hope you can help me. Thank you in advance.
    Regards,
    Chanaka

    Hi Chinmay,
Thank you for the prompt answer. I have gone through this before. It explains on how to create a report using a xml database from CR designer. What I want to do is to set the data source programmatically to a xml date source from the code. I didnu2019t find anything like that. Is it the same way as setting the database connection information?
Also another question I have is how does a report with two tables work? Say I have a master u2013 detail report (order and order lines). The master part is taken from one table (order_tab) and the detail part is taken from another (order_detail_tab). Do I need to have 2 xmls or is one structured xml sufficient? How will the same work if I have the detail section in a sub-report? Will it work with one or do I need to have two?

  • Creating a Crystal Report for B1 without parameters

    Hi Experts,
My question is a simple one.
    I create a crystal report for SAP B1 8.8 Patch 10 using CR 2008 SP02.
I have no parameters since its showing sales figures of the past month.
But when I run the report in SAP, a selection criteria screen pops up without any fields.
    Just OK and Cancel.
I dont want my users to have to click OK. I need the report to pop-up once the user click on the SAP Menu for the report.
My report file has no parameters.
    Thanks for the help
    Denis

    Deinis,
In your report, do you mean:
    - you have parameter created, but not used in the report? OR
    - there is no parameter field in the report at all?
The reason I am asking is:
If you have parameter fields, But, you did not use it in the report, I think when you run the report within SAP B1, it will still prompts for user to enter something.
Also, if you are using subreport, make sure there is no parameter in the subreport, Although you do not use them.  Just delete the parameter field from the list if you are not using them.

    viewer.dispose();
    catch(Exception e)
    throw new JspException( e);
    %>
    </body>
    </html>

I never really had much luck with this approach.
Mind you I was using Crystal Reports 10, and as far as I recall it didn't allow setting/changing of database at this level.
    Things to check
    - can you create a database connection on your page with this URL/username/password?
    - what server are you using? Tomcat? WebLogic?
I found this in your other post:
Connection Information: {Server Name=ee6rpt, Connection String=DSN=s(ee6rpt);User ID=s(ee62test);Password=;UseDSNProperties=b(false), Database Name=, Database DLL=crdb_odbc.dll}That would indicate it is using odbc to connect to the database (crdb_odbc.dll). ODBC is a bad idea with java.
The way I have got it to work for me (after much trial and error) was to in Crystal Reports to connect using the Oracle Driver, and specifying a tnsname - eg define REPORT_DS in tnsnames.ora.
When running through the JRC, it looked for a JNDI datasource under that same name "REPORT_DS".
Don't know if that will help you or not.
    Good luck,

  • How to create a Crystal Report to connect to Oracle

    Hi,
When I create a Crystal report to connect to SQL Server, I create a stored procedure to get all data I need and connect to it from Crystal Report.(In the stored procedure, I created temp tables, used cusor etc to run data.) But now I need to use a Oracle database. I heard I need to create a package and put this stored procedure in this package. Questions:
    1. if I need to create a package, how can I call the stored procedure from it?
    2. Can I create temp table in this procedure too? I need to create some temp tables to join together to get complex data.
    3. if I want the return data from stored procedure, do I still "select ... from ..." or there is another other ways?
I am so desperated. Please help. I know this are very silly questions. But please.

    Hi Jenny,
We are also using Crystal Reports for our Oracle Database, we normally just select the tables we want to use or create our own SQL query.
However, if you really want to use Oracle stored-procedure (which performs faster than a SQL query because the stored procedure is compiled in advance), you can look at this document:
    http://support.businessobjects.com/communityCS/TechnicalPapers/scr_oracle_stored_procedures.pdf
Hope this will answer your questions.
