Creating a dynamic welcome prompt

Is there a way to create a dynamic welcome prompt with Cisco CRS Editor? I work for a university, and I would like a way to call into our Auto Attendant to change the default greeting in case of a closing due to inclement weather. I would like to be able to call in and select between the default greeting or have the option to create and post an alternate greeting.
How can I do this?

It looks like you are using the Write Document method instead of Upload Prompt, which is fine. However, it looks like you are trying to write the file back onto itself. You want to create the Fiel Document, like you are doing, but then you should be writing it to 'filename', like you are when you record the new one. Instead, you created the File Document from a text string, then write it right back to the same test string.
So remove the Upload Prompt method, and change the Write Document method just above it to (Default_Prompt to Filename).

• Dynamic Cascading Prompt based on Universe

Hi,
I am attempting to build a universe-query-based report which allows the user to select inputs based on a dynamic cascading prompt. I have created the cascading LOVs in the Universe design. However, when the user is asked to select inputs, the prompts do not appear to cascade. They show all possible values independent of each input(there are 3 inputs). When I try to manually create the dynamic cascading prompt on the actual report, I select dynamic parameter but it does not show any values under the Choose Data Source option. All it shows is "(None)". Any suggestions on how I can get this cascading prompt to work? I am using CR 2008 also.
Thanks for you help!

Hey David,
Steps to create connection in Business View Manager:
1) Go to Start -> Program files > Business objects xir2> business objects enterprise > businessview manager.
2) Click on New >
3) Steps to create is Create a Data connection > Select Data Connection > Data sources > Save the data foundation.
4) Second is to create a data foundation.
Click New > Data foundation > Select the Data Connection and Select the Table.
5) Third is to create a data element.
Click New >Data Element > Select the Data Foundation Select the required fields for Lov from the table.
6) Is to create a business view > New > Business View >select the data element > save the business view.
7) Is to create a Lov> New > LOV > Select the business view > Select the fields for dynamic cascading parameter fields and save the LOV
8) Open the crystal report designer > connect to the repository > create a new parameter > select dynamic> Select Existing > Select the LOV created through the business view manager.
Note : Should Save all the Connection, data Foundation, business elements, business view and LOV separately and instantly.
Let me know if any.

• Creating Dynamic Cascading Prompts Without Business View manager?

How can we create dynamic cascading prompts without Business View Manager??

• How to include a default value in Dynamic cascading prompt from 2nd Level.

Hi,
I use Command Object in 'Datbase Expert' to create 'Custom Tables' and use these tables to fetch LoVs. I use Dynamic Cascading Prompts in the reports. I have a peculiar requirement using DCP.
There are Four Levels as in the Example:
Continent
Country
State
City
In the Custom Table, requirement is to create an additinal row with '' that represents 'All Values selected' for that level starting from second. and The default selection should be '' . I defined that '*' means 'All Vales Selected in the report' This si not a problem. But the problem how to show a default value in a Dynamic Cascading Prompt i.e. how we can make sure in an default value can be selected in DCP from Second Level?
how can the examples 1,2,3 can be achieved detaisled below beacsuse we need to show a default value in Casacading Propmt
Eg of Schedules with DCP:
Schedule 1
Continent: Europe
Country: *
State: *
City:  *
Schedule2:
Continent: Europe
Country: England
State: *
City: *
Schedule 3:
Continent: Europe
Country: England
State: Greater London
City: *
Schedule 4:
Continent: Europe
Country: England
State: Greater London
City: City of london

You won't be able to have a true "default" value in the various cascading levels, since there aren't default values in a dynamic cascading parameter. That being said, I've created a sample report in Crystal Reports 2008 that has a Command-driven DCP with '*' values for the 2nd and 3rd levels of my 3-tier DCP and have accounted for them in the record selection criteria. You can find the sample here at https://www.box.net/shared/mav5qp337j

Can I create a dynamic number of inputs during runtime?
Oracle 11g
Application Express 4.0.2.00.06
Here is my problem:
We have a table that holds metadata about files (hardcopy or softcopy files).
We expect we may need more columns in the table at some point and don't want to modify the table or the application.
So in order to do this I would like to create:
A table called TBL_FILE with the columns:
TBL_FILE_ID NUMBER (This will be the primary key)
TBL_FILE_NAME VARCHAR2(1000) (This will be the name of the file)
A second table will be called TBL_FILE_META with the columns:
TBL_META_ID NUMBER (This will be the primary key)
TBL_FILE_ID NUMBER (This will be the forign key to the file table)
TBL_META_COLUMN VARCHAR2(30) (This is what the column name would be if it existed in TBL_FILE)
TBL_META_VALUE VARCHAR2(1000) (This is the value that record and the 'would be' column)
So a person can have as much meta data on the file with out having to add columns to the table.
The problem is how can I allow users to add as much data as they like with out having to re develop the page.
Other things to note is that we would like this to be on a single page.
I know how to add we can create multi-row inserts by using a SQL Query (updateable report),
however the TBL_META_VALUE column in the TBL_FILE_META will sometimes be a select list and other times a text box or number field.
So I don't see now a SQL Query (updateable report) would work for this and I can't create an array of page items at run time can I?
Any idea's how I could accomplish this? Is there a better way of doing this?
Also is there a term or a name for what I am doing by creating these 'virtual' columns in another table?
I found this method when looking at Oracles Workflow tables.

Creating Page Items dynamically is not available. You will have to create excess items and hide/show , etc. But you cannot change the Item Type. All in all, too many limitations in this approach.

>
The 100 item limit will hit you if you go with extra item on page. With Tabular Form that should not be a limitation, unless you are exceeding the 50 item limit of APEX_APPLICATION.G_Fnn items, and the 60 column limitation of Report region with "Use Generic Column Names (parse query at runtime only)" of Dynamic region.

Yes, you can do it. Updatable report/ Tabular Form query can be constructed from the Meta Data using PL/SQL Function Returning SQL Query . It will be a bit of coding in PL/SQL where you use the Meta Data and the Meta Data of the Meta Data to piece together your SELECT with the right APEX_ITEMs. It might have a performance penalty associated with it, but will not be a serious degradation.

• How to create a dynamic constant?

Hi everyone,
I would like to create a dynamic constant similar to CATEGORY_dim or TIME_dim for the dimension AcctDetail, and then be able to link it to Script Logic in order to use it there. Does anyone know if this can be done?
Thanks very much.

Hi Bzaratev,
No need to add a new dynamic constant. You can use dynamic script in the DM side like this,
PROMPT(SELECTINPUT,,,,"CATEGORY,P_CC,TIME")
You just directly wirte down the dimension name.
For the standard usage, we use format %{XX}_DIM", XX is the dimension type.
PROMPT(SELECTINPUT,,,,%CATEGORY_DIM%%ENTITY_DIM%%TIME_DIM%)
So if you want to use AcctDetail, you can just write it PROMPT(SELECTINPUT,,,,"CATEGORY,P_CC,TIME,AcctDetail")
Hope this helps.

• Dynamic Cascading prompt in Webi

Is there a way either at Webi/Universe level to create dynamic cascading prompt in webi based on selection from first filter object.
e.g. two objects, Region and Office.
In webi, Region is the first filter, Office is the second.
After user selects a Region, I want the second Office prompt values to display only the offices for the region that user's selected.
Is there is a way to do? or a work round?
If I just create cascading LOV, it will just display all regions and it's offices together.
Thanks

You try the below
Go to the Office Property.
Edit the List of Values for the Office object.
Check the Automatic Refresh Before Use option.
Click Edit.
Bring Region into the Conditions and set it to: in list Prompt('What Region?')
Click Save and Close
Click Apply and edit the next LOV object.
Save this Universe and let's generate a report.
Now in the report you create the Prompt on Region. Prompt('What Region?')
Have a look in to
http://homepage.mac.com/rmetzk/PDF_Files/Cascading_Prompts.pdf
Hope this may help you out.

• Creation of Dynamic cascading prompts

Hi, Could you please let me know how to create Dynamic Cascading Prompts at Universe level?

Hi,
Dynamic Cascading prompts can be created using Cascading lovs. For this you should have some hierarchies defined in universe (assumption) and go to tools-> lovs -> cascading lovs -> in the window all the available hierarchies are displayed for you -> select a required hierarchy from left side and place it in right side -> click on generate lovs (in between create a prompt name that should appear for this hierarchy) and in query panel level -> insert a prompt for the least granular object in the hierarchy then in report you will get a cascading prompts for that hierarchy.
Cheers,
Suresh Aluri.

• UCCX 7 HA Creating a Permanent User Prompt from a Maintenance Script

Hi,
I have script that records a prompt, names the wav file a puts it in the prompts directory. This is used for a special message for a contact centre script, these are usually temporary messages and there is an option in the same maintenance script to silence this prompt. The customer wants to be able to change the permanent prompts like the welcome prompt however when I restart the primary contact centre CRS engine the special message prompt is gone from the prompts folder in windows. It was never in the list of prompts when I listed the prompts in the app admin GUI page. Is there any way I can copy this recorded prompt from the windows folder to the prompt repository so that if the contact centre is restarted the prompt is not deleted.
I have attached a copy of the script so you can see how i'm doing this, When the call comes in to the script 'Main_Menu' the user presses 1, the call goes to the 'System_Menu' the user presses 1 again to go to 'Record_System_Prompt', from here you record the system message and the script puts a wav file called IECHA_IT_Sys_Mess.wav in to C:\Program Files\wfavvid\Prompts\user\en_GB. But this wav file is only in the windows folder not in the list of prompts in the UCCX appadmin page.
Thanks
Regards
Neil

Hi Neil
This is quite a common query; basically you should never write to the wfavvid folder directly. If you upgrade to 8.0, you'll find you can't do that anyway.
Instead of using a write document step or whatever to write to disk, so this:
1) Create a User variable
2) Use a 'get user' step to populate that variable with a user reference, you will need to specify a user ID or extension number on this step that refers to a user configured with Supervisor or Administrator rights. I usually allow the actual end user to log in with their extension and PIN, and use those creds to get the user. Other engineers just create a user called 'PromptUploader' or similar, and give that the required rights.
3) Once you have the 'get user' populating the user variable, under it's success branch add a 'Authenticate User' step to authenticate the user refernce in conjunction with a PIN or password (either that you gathered from the caller's DTMF or a static string)
4) Under the success branch for that, you can then use the 'Upload Prompt' step to upload the prompt you have recorded.

Aaron

• Create a dynamic form where selected text boxes appears, based on options chosen in a drop-down box

HELP!!! Can anyone please provide some guidance on how to create a dynamic form where selected text boxes appears, based on options chosen in a drop-down box.
I have a form which – based on the department that's selected from a drop-down box – will have different form fields/text boxes, etc, made available.
Is this possible in LiveCycle, if so, can you please provide the script/info - as needed.
Thanks,

In the preOpen event of the second dropdown list you put something like (in formCalc):
if (dropdown1 == 1) then
$.clearItems()
$.setItems("Year, 2 Year,  3 Year")
elseif (dropdown1 == 2) then
$.clearItems()
$.setItems("3 Year,  4 Year")
endif

• How to create a dynamic RTF report which creates dynamic columns based on dynamic column selection from a table?

Hi All,
Suppose I have table, whose structure changes frequently on daily basis.
For eg. desc my_table gives you following column name on Day 1
SQL > desc my_table;
Output
Name
Age
Phone
On Day 2, two more columns are added, viz, Address and Salary.
SQL > desc my_table;
Output
Name
Age
Phone
Address
Salary
Now I want to create an Dynnamic RTF report which would fetch data from ALL columns from my_table on daily basis. For that I have defined a concurrent program with XML as output type and have attached a data template/data definition to it which takes in XML as input and gives final output of conc program in EXCEL layout. I am able to do this for constant number of columns, but dont know how to do it when the number of columns to be displayed changes dynamically.
For Day 1 my XML file should be like this.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<dataTemplate name="XYZ" description="iExpenses Report" Version="1.0">
<dataQuery>
<sqlStatement name="Q2">
<![CDATA[
SELECT Name
,Age
,Phone
FROM my_table
]]>
</sqlStatement>
</dataQuery>
<dataStructure>
<group name="G_my_table" source="Q2">
<element name="Name" value="Name" />
<element name="Age" value="Age" />
<element name="Phone" value="Phone" />
</group>
</dataStructure>
</dataTemplate>
And my Day 1, EXCEL output from RTF template should be like this.
Name     Age     Phone
Swapnill     23     12345
For Day 2 my XML file should be like this. With 2 new columns selected in SELECT clause.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<dataTemplate name="XYZ" description="iExpenses Report" Version="1.0">
<dataQuery>
<sqlStatement name="Q2">
<![CDATA[
SELECT Name
,Age
,Phone
,Address
,Salary
FROM my_table
]]>
</sqlStatement>
</dataQuery>
<dataStructure>
<group name="G_my_table" source="Q2">
<element name="Name" value="Name" />
<element name="Age" value="Age" />
<element name="Phone" value="Phone" />
<element name="Address" value="Address" />
<element name="Salary" value="Salary" />
</group>
</dataStructure>
</dataTemplate>
And my Day 2, EXCEL output from RTF template should be like this.
Name     Age     Phone     Address     Salary
Swapnill     23     12345         Madrid     100000
Now, I dont know below things.
Make the XML dynamic as in on Day 1 there must be 3 columns in the SELECT statement and on Day 2, 5 columns. I want to create one dynamic XML which should not be required to be changed if new columns are added in my_table. I dont know how to create this query and also create their corresponding elements below.
Make the RTF template dyanamic as in Day1 there must 3 columns in EXCEL output and on Day 2, 5 columns. I want to create a Dynamic RTF template which would show all the columns selected in Dynamic XML.I dont know how the RTF will create new XML tags and how it will know where to place it in the report. Means, I can create RTF template on Day 1, by loading XML data for 3 columns and placing 3 XML tags in template. But how will it create and place tags for new columns on Day 2?
Hope, you got my requirement, its a challenging one. Please let me know how I can implement the required solution using RTF dynamically without any manual intervention.

Hi All,
I am able to fulfil above requirement. Now I am stuck at below point. Need your help!
Is there any way to UPDATE the XML file attached to a Data Definition (XML Publisher > Data Definition) using a standard package or procedure call or may be an API from backend? I am creating an XML dynamically and I want to attach it to its Data Definition programmatically using SQL.
Please let me know if there is any oracle functionality to do this.
If not, please let me know the standard directories on application/database server where the XML files attached to Data Definitions are stored.
For eg, /$APPL_TOP/ar/1.0/sql or something.

• How to create a dynamic hyperlink which point to a BLOB column

Hello,
I am fighting with the issue for about 2 days.
My purpose is to use Oracle Report Builder to build a report of our employee directory which contains employee's information and also employee's picture. The requirement is that our report is going to generate a html file to our web server. By creating a dynamic hyperlink to the Employee's name in the report output file (the html file generated to our web server), it should then display the corresponding employee's picture which is a BLOB column stored in our oracle database.
I only can create the hyperlink for the employee's name if the link is static, like 'http://www.google.com
But from the Oracle Reports 10g Release2 (10.1.2), about the exmaple 1: Dynamic hyperlink, I refered the link
http://www.oracle.com/webapps/online-help/reports/10.1.2/state/content/navId.3/navSetId._/vtTopicFile.htmlhelp_rwbuild_hs%7Crwcontxt%7Cprops%7Cpi_lay_hyperlink%7Ehtm/
The link gave he following example shows a value for the Hyperlink property that specifies a link to a destination identified dynamically:
'DEPT_DETAILS_' || LTRIM(TO_CHAR(:DEPTNO))
where :DEPTNO is a column value retrieved from the database at runtime.
I tried as the same way to want it dynamcially shows the column :EMP_PHTOT, which is one BLOB column, but it was failed.
Anyone knows how to implement this? Any inputs is appreciated!
Thanks,
Jing

• How to create a dynamic form with bind variables :schema & :table_name

My application has two LOV's, one to select a schema, and the next to select a table within that schema. I then have a button which passes me to a report which displays the data in that table.schema.
I now want to create a link to a form where I can edit the record based on the rowid of that table.schema, but it doesn't appear that I can create a dynamic form where I pass the schema.table_name and rowid. Is this possible? Can anyone advise how I can do this? The form builder only wants a fixed schema/table name.
Thanks in advance.
Stuart.

Hi Stuart,
In this sort of situation, you will need to be a bit creative.
I would suggest a pipeline function called as if it was a report.
Then you can pipe out the required fields.
Since you will have a variable number of fields, you could use two of the multi row field names for your field names and values.
Then after submit, you can create your own procedure to loop through the fields (stored for you in the Apex package) and update the table as required.
Not very specific I'm afraid, but it should work.

Michael
