Creating a form in acrobat with pages

I am building a website for a friend and my friend wants a way where a customer can order online. Before buying the domain, i am outlining the site, starting with ordering online. So i want i want it when you click on the order page, it will open a PDF with an interactive form. I made a header in pages with the company name, and i exported it to PDF and opened it in acrobat and ran the form assistant and want to manually put in the forms. i want to make fields for email, name, and address. Then at the bottom hit submit. Now when the submit button is pressed i want an email to be sent to my friends email address. Is that possible? And when my friend gets the email who will the from address be from? One more thing, is there a way for the PDF to check to see if the email is valid? Thank you in advance

It would be more usual (and easier) to do this with php or server script than with either acrobat or pages. Doesn't your web program have a plug-in for forms submission? You will also need some kind of spam filtering on the form, too. Try searching your web program's help for formmail. Basically you need the piece to create the form the user sees and also you need to enable the requisite stuff on the server where the site is hosted.
If you want them to really order online (ie with credit card or paypal, etc), then you need something like Mals or another ecommerce solution. That's pretty easy to integrate into most web programs.

paypal offer a complete shopping cart solution that can be integrated into almost any website. This include collection contact/shipping/item info.
if you want to collect contact info you could use a HTML form integrated into a website.

  • Ora-20001 when creating a form on table with report (bug?)

Having some trouble creating a "Form on table with report".
    1) I pick my table
    2) take most of the defaults on the page where you pick the report type (interactive) and the page number (I changed it to 950). next->
    3) Do not use tabs. Next->
    4) Select all columns for the report. THEN (here's the problem) set an optional where clause of system_role_name like 'ODPSPOPUP%'. Next->
    5) choose standard edit link. next->
    6) Specify a page of 951 for the form (leave others defaults). next->
    7) Set the form primary key (defined in table). next->
    8) use existing trigger. next->
    9) choose all columns for the form. next->
    10) Leave actions to insert, update, delete. next->
    11) Get to the summary page and click Finish
Then I get an error page saying:
ORA-20001: Unable to create query and update page. ORA-20001: Unable to create query and update page. ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended
If I go back to step 4 and erase my where clause the wizard completes successfully.
Also if I change the report type in step 2 from the default of "Interactive" to "Classic" the wizard completes successfully. However upon running the report I get a query parse error. Looks like the where clause in the report sql is: system_role_name like ''ODPSPOPUP%'' (two single quotes on each side).
It looks as if you cannot specify a where clause with a quoted string. The wizard is expecting a bind variable.
    Workaround(s):
    1) Don't specify a where clause when report type = Interactive in "create form on table with report" wizard.
    or
    2) Specify a bogus where clause using bind variable syntax such as "system_role_name like :BOGUSVARIABLE". Then edit the report query once the wizard finishes and change the where clause to the constant string you wanted to use in the wizard (e.g. "system_role_name like 'MYSYSTEM%'")

    Andy,
It's a bug, all right. Thanks for the detailed problem description. We'll fix it when we can.

  • Creating a form using Acrobat 9

I'm trying to create a form using Acrobat 9 and know how to insert check boxes and text fields but when I enter in data into the fields it copies it through the document.  How can I create a field that I can cut and paste throughout the document but allow it to have separate data in it from the rest of the fields?

You'll need to rename all of the fields you copy & paste so that each one
of them has a unique name. Fields with the same name will automatically
    have the same value.

  • Creating a Form in Acrobat Professional 8

I am attempting to create a fully-interactive PDF form, using an MS Word Document which I created using Word 2007 on my system, which is Windows Vista Home Premium.  I want the colleagues to whom I send this form to be able to complete it on line, and return it to me by e-mail.   I have tried to do this in 2 ways:
I have opened the MS Word document, clicked on Acrobat, Create PDF, and in the window entitled Save Adobe PDF file as:  I selected Fully Functional PDF and indicated that the resulting file be saved on my Desktop.  It appears that the process does complete, but I can find the resulting file NOWHERE on my system.  I've searched in every way possible, and find only a shortcut to the new file, but not the file itself.  I obtain an error message when I click on this shortcut!
I have also opened my Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional software, and selected Create PDF, from file.  I selected the correct file, and the conversion process began.  After 10% of the conversion was complete, the following message appeared:  "PDF Conversion process failed; please correct the error and retry".  However, I have no idea what the "error" is, so I cannot comply!
The form I am working with is NOT a template, but one I have created.  My needs are not met by any of the available templates available within the program.  I am at a loss for a solution, and hope that someone on this forum can help me.

please delete me from your mailing list.  tks.

    Hi,
You may open the original form in FormsCentral and toggle to “Page View” at the lower right corner. Adjust the page content to make sure no page breaks in this view.

  • Created PDF form in Acrobat XI Pro, but HELP fields disappear when I save FCDT file to PDF. Please help. Thanks!

Created PDF form in Acrobat XI Pro, but HELP fields disappear when I save FCDT file to PDF. Please help. Thanks!

I am not aware of a field type "Help" within a PDF form. I do not see it as a form field that can be added in the form edit mode.
Forms Central forms do not support all the features of Acrobat forms.
Are you talking about the "Tool Tips" or a hidden field that only shows when one enters a field and is hidden upon exiting the field.

  • Creating F01 form element on a page with different regions

I have a HTMLDB page wherein there are about 5 different regions each having details for different modes of payment. For Ex: if mode of payments are cash, credit card and purchase order, I have 3 regions for these 3 modes each taking details like amount, credit card no.,expiry date etc...User can select more than 1 payment type.
In order to know the different types selected by user, I want to create a form element with name F01 as page Item and use this as an array. For ex:if cash is chosen then F01(1)='cash',if Purchase order is chosen then F01(3)='po' etc....This I can inturn use in my pl/sql code to get the payment types chosen by looping thru the array of HTMLDB_APPLICATION.G_F01 element.
Can somebody tell me if this is a fesible solution for what I am looking at or is there any other better solution.

  • How do I use auto-form recognition to create PDF forms in Acrobat XI?

I used to use Acrobat 9 to create PDF forms that would allow me to fill in text into the fields that were created.  Acrobat XI seems to have changed the way this function is performed.  Previously, I could run an auto form recognition wizard, do some minor tweaking, and be done.  Now, when I attempt to follow the process in Acrobat XI, I get the following message that pops up:  "No new form field annotations were detected.", and no fields get created.  I could do this manually, but the process of doing so is very clunky and cumbersome.  Once I create a new text field, I must then go back and resize it.  This would not be a problem if I was only working with a few fields on a single page, but I have a six page document with multiple fields to create (text fields, check box fields, etc.).  Perhaps I'm missing something, but there seems to be no simple way to do this anymore.  It's making me want to just install Acrobat 9, so that I will have back the feature that I used to have.  I'm using Acrobat XI on Mac, but I'm assuming the function should be the same in Windows.  I can use Preview on the Mac to simply type in the text that I need, but I was hoping to pass along the PDF so that others can use it as well.  This is not just a one time thing.

There are no APIs for C# and external applications for this conversion.  There is however an API for Acrobat plugins to perform this operation.   So, if necessary, you could write a custom plugin (that calls the API you need) and expose that via some form of IPC to your C# app.

  • Can you create editable forms in Acrobat X Standard?

    Hi everyone,
Hopefully an easy question although I cannot find a definitive answer on the product page.
I need to be able to create editable forms that others can fill in and print or save using Reader 8, 9 or X. Can these forms be created using Adobe Acrobat X Standard? The forms have been created in Word 2007 but we want to disribute them as PDF's and allow certain fields to be filled in on the PDF. The form will be downloaded from a website, filled in and emailed back.
Any clarification on this is greatly received.
    Thanks...

I know you can create forms with Standard but I don't think you can enable them so that Reader users can save them without the Pro version.

Even if you could do this, you would want to carefully consider whether you want a form out there for everyone to fill out and send in. There is a restriction to the amount of times you can receive data from an enabled form. After 500 times, you would be violating the license agreement.

  • I am trying to create a form in acrobat pro 8 and it can't be filled in in reader 9

When I open the form in reader, it says it is a pdf/a file.and the form fields do not show up unless I go to edit/preferences in reader and tell it to never view documents in pfd/a mode.  I am putting this document on my website for users to fill out, and don't want them to have to do that.  How do I create the form that is not a pdf/a document?  I have been messing around with this for a day and have not been successfull.  I have an old document from last year that apparently is not a pdf/a document and it works fine.  I cannot make this year's document open correctly in reader 9.  http://www.houseofsweden.us/docs/DecNightsSignUps2009.pdf  This is a very simple form created from a word document.

When originally creating the pdf, you would need to choose another pdf conversion setting. In Word if you use the pdf menu, change your settings there: Adobe PDF > Change Conversion Settings. I would use High Quality Print instead. If you use the File > Print method, click the Properties button next to the Adobe PDF printer selection.
For your already created form, you can change the file so your users will not encounter issues. In Acrobat 9, which hopefully is similar in process to 8: Advanced > Preflight > Profile tab > PDF/A compliance > Remove PDF/A information.(You'll have to unsecure your form first).
You can read about PDF/A files in the Help.

  • Create a Form in Acrobat Standard that can be filled out AND SIGNED using Free Reader

I am tasked with creating forms that can be read, filled out and signed and submitted electronically by users that have only the reader software. I am using Acrobat 5 standard. I have not yet found a way to successfully create a form field that would allow users to insert a signature of some sort. This signature does not have to be encrypted, or use the digital signature system Adobe Acrobat has where you create a profile, log in, etc. It could be as simple as the ability to insert a jpeg or other image of their handwritten signature. This is to avoid having to have them fill it out, and then print it and fax or scan it in. It would be great if they could fill it out and then just save it and email it. How would I do this, or is it even possible?
    Thanks,
    JOhn

With AA5, there is no capability to submit a signature - even electronic. You can create a form that can be filled out, signed in the sense of adding a name and date, and submit to a web site.
Insertion of images is not part of forms with AA5, but I think has become possible recently. Even so, they reader would also have to be compatible with the feature to be able to use it. If the typing of the name and the date would do, then you can add those fields - sort of the limit with AA5.
With AA5, they can not save the form with the data. They can submit the data as an FDF file to a web site. If you have control of the client machines, then you can consider e-mail since those issues can be worked out locally. Without control of the clients (like a general form on the web), don't bother with e-mail since there will always be some that have problems.

  • Trying to create order form in Acrobat 6

    Hi-
I'm using Adobe Acrobat 6 professional to create a form. Here is a link to what I have so far: http://www.pvclassof1977.com/newgallery/orderform.pdf
Basically everything is exactly how I want it except for one thing. I want to assign $ values to the different size choices (4x6, 5x7, 8x10) so that the "Cost" column automatially updates and then would be multiplied by the "Quantity" column.
I have done some research and I think this involves a custom javascript as opposed to the built in calculations. I'm not very familiar with writing out javascript so not really sure where to start.
Let me know if you have any suggestions!!
    Thanks!

  • I want to create a form in Acrobat XI Pro, but if I try to do a new form, it opens Forms Central.

I don't want to create a form in this application since it is going away.  How do I get around that?  Is there some way to turn off that option so I can create the form directly in Acrobat Pro? !

Thanks!  That will help.  I didn't want to start to recreate this form in another app.  It is one I created in Live Design before we upgraded and I lost that app.  Now I cannot edit the form anymore so I need to start over.  This way I can just re-create what I already had.
