Creating a macro for export to excel using a custom map

Hi all
I've created a custom map to export a custom table to excel, which works. Then tried to create a macro to do this export for me and it was stopped on the 'File; Save As' part of the export (almost the very beginning)
Looking for suggestions for best practises or anything to watch out for when creating a macro to export (or any help in general in this area...books, etc)
Using MSP 2010 (Pro)...we have server but I was attempting this as a stand-alone project

Firstly make sure you have SP2 installed. Then try recording a macro of you manually saving to Excel with a pre-saved map. Compare the recorded code and your code.

So I enherited the system I am currently developing. One thing the guy did before me was put pictures on all of his buttons. I have no clue how he did this as I just starting using Labview several months ago. Now I want to add my own buttons and want to replicate how he did it.
All the solutions I have search for use custom controls to attain their desired effect....well apparantly the guy did it a different way and I can't figure out how. I posted a VI with just the buttons he made in it so you can see what I am talking about.

Becasue you can make the custom button and apply it and never save it. If you right click on the button you should be able to got to the advanced and then to customize and still be able to edit the buttons that are on your code.
You will have to make new pictures to import to your custom display. The only other way to do this would be to make your button transparent and add a picture behind it.

How do you create a macro for Acrobat Convert Multiple Reports action in Microsoft Access

I have several reports in microsoft access and I've been able to combine them into a single PDF file using the Acrobat Convert Multiple Reports feature. Is there a way to create a macro for this action? I would like to create a time event for this procedure.

Tips on designing reports for export to excel

There is a document mentioned in help that I have a link to and the link and searching never get me to it. Can anyone help me locate this...I need tips on how to better design a report when you know it will be used for exporting to excel.

Exception : Export To Excel using POI in ADF

When i am using POI jars for export to Excel functionality I ma getting the following Exception.
Actually page contains simple button .When user clicks on the button i am getting the values from the iterator and then exporting those values to the Excel using POI.

When you run your application, it is complaining that it cannot find a class. That class is part of Apache XMLBeans (http://xmlbeans.apache.org/). You need to ensure that you get the XMLBeans JAR file and include it in your project, just like you did for the Apache POI JAR file.

I've heard that it will also cancel your current contract. That isn't such a huge deal unless your current contract is an unlimited one--you can never get it back.

This code is working for slider.I mean it scrolls the slider.but it dosent make any effect to sound.

Best way to create dataset to be exported in Excel for further elaboration

Hello experts!
I need help with some of my custormers, that perform their work in a way that I partially disagree. They work in BOXI R3.1 SP3.
They use webi on top of relational universes (DWH layer in Oracle DB).
We created reports in webi that cover their standard analysis, but for their spot analysis they find difficult to work in webi.
I think that it partially depends on lack of known of the tool (even if they have been trained).
Anyway they need a solution to this issue:
they wont create in webi a basic set of information inserting reclassifications of information and some calculation in webi. Then they need to export information in excel to do their on spot calculations. Those dataset are often big, so they find following issues:
1)they tried to use Live Office to import the table they need but the limit of the datastream size is reached quickly (currently limit is 50Mb in our settings , but is reached even from report that exported with Save to my computer As Excel are not more than 10Mb ). I discussed with B.O. administrator and increasing much more this treashold affects general performances of other services.
2)Exporting in excel with Save As is quite cumbersome and they can't use .xlsx format as it is only supported by BI4.0 .So they get tables with more than 64K rows splitted over many sheets.
3)They also tried to export in CSV format to eventually further elaborate in Access, but .CSV only retrieve the information of the Microcube extracted by the query, not the data elaborated in the report.
Anyone can suggest further ways to behave?

there are 3 options I see :
1. Learn to use webi, it can do everything excel can and more
2. I question ability of anyone to deal with that much data in excel, you should agregate data on DB side and push most of calculations there. Then your exports will be much smaller.
Better designed semantic layer will allow your users to get needed data quicker and in less volume, making their work in webi or in excel easier.
3. Use DF/DI products as ETL tools into your Excel users.

I wanted to "give back" by posting this little code sample for exporting a query into Excel xlsx
Kudos to Charlie Arehart for helping me increase the server memory and java heap size.
This code works for me using CF 9 on Windows Server 2008 R2. By the way, CFSpreadsheet seems to consume a lot of memory on larger exports. For this reason, we increased the server's physical memory, then used CF Administrator to increase the jvm heap size in the Administrator -> Java and JVM settings. My max java heap size is now 3072.

An inline DataTable is not the same thing as exporting data in a standardized XLSX format. (I'll post the script I use in another comment.

Maybe it's possible, but I doubt it.
Reason is that you're asking the URL to run the report and then once done export out the values and I just don't think the 'i' - or now 'g' versions support this.
This was why the command line interface with the Desktop version was so popular as this is exactly the kind of thing you can do, plus much more.
I checked the documentation for Plus and can find nothing about doing this in the URL. Maybe someone will say otherwise, but with Plus I don't think it's possible.

Export to excel using value set

I have an ALV table and in some columns I show the texts defining value_set (set_attribute_value_set). When I export the table to Excel using the standard button in the file I can see the codes, not the defined texts. How can I solve it? I thought about defining additional columns which will contain the texts and will be invisible in the screen and visible in Excel sheet instead of the column with codes, but I would like to know if there is any easier solution.

You can use Filedownload control to download the content you prepare as XML
reading the context.
For Ex: if you have product ID, Product Name and price as attributes.
you can create the XML string as

copy paste this in note pad name the file as products.xls and open it in MSXL.
similarly you can read the context and form this xstring and just supply to filedownload control.

The tutorial is working on NW04 but when I use it on NW04s I receive errors for the StringBuffer object:
java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: java.lang.StringBuffer.append(Ljava/lang/String;)Ljava/lang/AbstractStringBuilder;
Any ideas?
