Creating a Movie Symbol with Various FLV files

I am new to using video inside of Flash CS3. I have a series
of video clips that I want to play in succession. So, I created a
movie clip symbol which, byitself, plays just fine.
What I want to accomplish is a starting frame with some
words, movie clip and then an ending frame with logo.
When I try to play the movie, the words show up fine, but the
movie clip doesn't play...what happens is the first frame shows up
and then loops back to the first frame with the words....and even
though I have looping turned off, it keeps doing it (acting like it
is looping).
What am I doing wrong? Do I need to implement Actionscript?

I don't think your explanation is very clear. Can you either
be more specific or include a sample fla file? I mean, there are
questions as to are you importing flv files or embedding them, how
your time line is set up, etc.

I inserted an .flv file into my DW CS4 html page. I previewed it in my browser, and it worked for a little bit, but now it's not working in any browser, I'm not sure what happened. I included a screen shot in the attachments of what was happening in all the browsers.

is not where you have told the page to expect it. Did you upload it?

Create navigation cue points in a FLV file using Media Encoder CC

When I export a FLV file with Navigation cue points created in Media Encoder CC (by loading a cue points XML file), upon examining the file I see that the cue points are recorded as Event type cue points in the metadata at the top of the file.
When I load the FLV file in Flash, I can receive cue point notifications using action script while the video is played, but cannot use seekToNavCuePoint to move the play head to one of the cue points, which accords them being Events rather than Navigation points.
I am wondering if there are any other export settings which need to be particular values in order for navigation cue points to be created properly in the exported file?

I want to toggle Movie Symbols with List boxes

For some reason I cant seem to use remove.clip to turn off a
movie symbol. I dont think I am setting this up correctly, it is an
easy task I am trying to acomplish. basically I have 3 movie
symbols of hair and 3 radio buttons I want to attatch them to. I am
reading the radio buttons correctly. I created an animating ball
and put the stop / play command to them to make sure this was so.
but all of the hair (long hair on top) are displayed at once.

I take it remove clip does not work the way I am expecting it
to? any advise for a very simple end result? I dont want to use
Gotoframe because I want to animate the background with other stuff
later, And I dont want the page flip look.

Green Screen issue with an flv file

I am attempting to create a Green Screen were I walk out onto my website and speak to the viewer. Everything looks good and plays within Premiere but after exporting and placing it on my webpage a black background shows instead of the background being transparent. can someone help with what I am doing wrong?

There are other kinds of files that can include alpha channels (transparency). Just so that you know what to look for, QuickTime and some other formats require you to specify the inclusion of an alpha channel from a color depth or channels menu. In some cases, a plus sign (as in Millions Of Colors+) denotes an alpha channel. Similarly, choosing to output to 32 bits per pixel implies an output depth of 8 bits per channel for each of four channels: RGBA (where A is for alpha).
But, yes, FLV with video encoded with the On2 VP6 codec is the main format for web video that supports alpha channels.

How to create a data connection with dynamic XML file?

I try to send this XML file to the user to let him can review what he has submitted.
I guess that I should create a data connection to the XML file so that it can be reviewed by the user.

To show user back the result, you can use PDF instead of XML. You can store the PDF template in server and you can merge XML data with PDF template by Livecycle Form Data Integration service.

Can't create web photo gallery with modified RAW files

I can use CS-2 to create a web photo gallery using unmodified RAW files, this seems to work fine.
However, after I tweak the exposure of a RAW file and a .xmp file has been created, if I try to create a web photo gallery, the program goes through the motions but no thumbnails or (bigger) jpg files are created. The resulting web photo gallery pages are just filled with broken link icons.

I believe it may be to do with the sidecar files. My girlfriend has similar issues on Windows XP.
I have tried to recreate the problem here (on Mac OSX) but it all works fine for me, so i can't fully test it, but here is what i believe may be happening....
The sidecar file has the same name as the actual raw file (except the extension of course), so when the web gallery script is processing it, it does the raw file, then overwrites by trying to process the xmp file as an image, but of course it can't and then you end up with no image file in your thumbnail, or image directories in the web gallery for that image.
Two options you can try...
1) go into bridge and select the images to process in there (xmp files shouldn't show up there) and then use the Tools/Photoshop menu to access the WGB and choose 'Selected Bridge Images' as the source. (this has been tested successfully on win xp)
2) in the camera raw plugin, go into preferences and change the 'sidecar xmp' option to 'camera raw database'. You will then probably need to delete any sidecar files for the folder you wish to process and reapply your raw adjustments. If the problem is what i suspect (as above) this should also work, though i haven't been able to test.
Obviously you don't need to worry about the 'down rezzing' mentioned above as the web gallery builder should already be doing this for you...unless you changed it.

Create a Homescreen Symbol with custom URL Scheme

I hope you can help me.
As the subject said I want to create a Home-screen-Symbol with a URL Scheme. Meaning a Link that directs me to a Note in Evernote.
If I Enter the URL in Safari it takes me there, that works perfect. Now I want to use the "Add to Home-screen" Function of Safari to create a Symbol that takes me to that Note also.
But there is also my problem: Safari immediately opens the App and I can't use the Function and if I get back to safari the tab with the URL is already cleaned up.
Does someone know a trick where I can create such a symbol or edit the URL of an existing Symbol?

My impression is, that iWeb only allow http:// URLs.

How can I mass move symbols with their motion paths without creating new keyframes?

I want to move a lot of symbols all at once if they are off centered or just need to be moved around to see differenr styles across the document, but I can't seem to move a lot of the symbols at once, only one at a time slexting their motion paths. It's rather annoying when I have items coming in at different times and have to re line everything up one by one if I want to move things even over by 1 px. Every time I slecect all my symbols and try to move them it just creates a new keyframe that they follow. Is there any tool or certian way to select the symbols and/or thier motion paths and move them without creating new key frames?

There's no direct way of moving all the symbols/ motion tweens begining at different frames altogether, but the following steps should help you do it -
1. Select a motion path on stage, goto Properties panel > Options menu (top left corner) and enable - Always show Motion Paths.
2. Enable - Edit Multiple Frames option in the Timeline.
3. Adjust the frame-markers in Timeline to show all your symbols, motion paths etc.
4. Now that you see all your symbols and motion paths together, Select-all and Move them together. Or, use Shift + click to selectively select the Motion paths/objects and move them.

Creating instances of symbols with unique instance names in Actionscript 3

I was wondering if it is possible to create a large number (lets say 100) of symbol instances where each of the different instances had its own unique instance- name . The names beeing something like ball1, ball2, ball3, etc..
Normally i would just create all these and manually give them their name, so a solution to this would spear me alot of time.

Here's a very simple example that should get you started:

Have a movieClip in the movie's Library with a class name of "box". Create a new instance of that object, add it to the display list and then set a name property. I then added each name to an array so that you can keep track of the objects. I then placed each one at a random location on the screen.

Playing various flv files in FLVPlayer from HTML

I have a .swf file (id=myVideo) that contains an FLVPlayer
instance (myFLVPlayer) embedded (object and embed) on my web page.
In a separate <DIV> I feature several thumbnails and
descriptions of videos that the visitor can play by clicking the
image.
Can I use javascript to call
myVideo.myFLVPlayer.contentPath="myselection.flv" as an onClick
action in the HTML?
I'm using Flash 8 and AS2.
Any suggestions, examples, or links would be

The approach of opening another window doesn't fit in with
the look and feel (design values and aesthetics) of the site. I
suppose I could make a separate .html for each video, keeping the
remainder of the page identical. But this would create a
maintenance nightmare as well as creating more interaction with the
server.
I also realize that I could just put the thumbnails and AS
directly into the .swf and make it work technically. But then as I
add new videos in the future I'd have to make changes to the .fla
and re-publish the .swf. At some point in time, the Stage would
have to be so large as to render that approach impractical. In
addition, it would reduce my flexibility to place thumbnail objects
in the browser window with respect to other HTML/CSS.
So, bottom line is that what I'm looking for is the right way
to go HTML->Javascript->Flash. I know that Javascript can
talk to the Flash instance. The question is, what is the best
approach to allow it to touch the FLVPlayer instance within my
.swf?
Admittedly, it's become more of an issue with me because I'm
using Flash 8 and AS2. Much of the documentation I've found applies
to later versions of both. Because of design changes as the
products evolved, most of that isn't useable for me. It does get
confusing.
Any help, examples, or links would be appreciated.

Creating a transparent background with a SWF file for Export to Air

I have been trying to place a SWF with a transparent background into an image component and use as a background for a widget. When I place the swf (just a simple single frame swf file) and output with any other method the background works perfectly. If I output to air then the background is a white rectangle with only a progress bar the stays at 0%. I have tried to not embed it but I get a broken link icon in the same rectangle.
What am I missing? Should the swf file have some special setting that I am missing?
I am using Xcelsisus 2008 with SP1 and FP1.

While there is no means to be sure about the method in which SAP/BO creates their components. My assumption is that the component uses the WindowedApplication or an HTMLLoader object(more likely) to display each SWF file.

How to create QuickTime movie from JPEG and Audio file

My Sony Cybershot allows me to record audio files for each picture. When I'm reviewing the images, I can listen to the audio. However, these files are stored separately as a JPEG and a WAV file (having identical filenames, diff extensions.
Is there an easy way to merge these two files into a QT Movie?
Can this be automated?
Does anyone know of an app or script that can do this?

None specific for your task that I know of.
You'll first want to convert the silly .wav audio file (match the capture settings) to a more modern format which will also reduce its file size by a factor of ten.
