Creating a multiple OS program

I am trying to create a vi that can run on Mac, Linux and Windows OS.  I would simply have the user select their OS at the outset of the program and then throughout the program when different subvis are necessary for the specific OS a case structure would be used.  Is there any way that I can run the program with unexecutable subvis in certain cases that are not being used (ie., Mac subvis will be unexecutable when a windows OS is in use).
Thank-you for your time - I really appreciate it.

The Conditional Disable Structure will be your friend here. Though in earlier versions of LabVIEW, it complained if it couldn't load code in the currently disabled cases. Not sure if 2009 improved on that.
I usually solve this problem by calling the appropriate VI dynamically through VI server.

    Hi,
I have done appraisal document creation for bulk using txt file.
this fm used for single for creation in standard tcode (phap_prepare):  'WZ_HRHAP_0DOC_WZ01_START'.
So create ztcode  usinh this fm for single form then record BDC for this tcode and called this tcode in that bdc for bulk creation .
While recording for single I have used manual option instead of automatic .

  • Creating a multiple page as a PDF

If you have a multiple page document where you have created the pages in illustrator is there any way to import them into another program like "indesign" to create a multiple page PDF document?
We have a large 45 page document with all the pages created in illustrator and every time we place the pages in "indesign" the program craps out at about 18 pages in.  The pages are complex which is why we created them in illustrator. We were hoping to get everything in an indesign file and then export them as a PDF for viewing but we can't get past the document creation this way.
    Any ideas?

I would assume these are individual files for each page (since Illy can't do multi-page)?
If so, easy enough. In Acrobat got to File>Create PDF>From multiple files then select your files. After bringing them in to the "combine files" menu, you can organize them the way you want before creating the file.

  • Message Include * is used in multiple main programs (210)

    Hi,
    I get the message:
Select a main program in Properties View on tab "Source"
Include /SAPDMC/SAP_LSMW_READ_FORMS is used in multiple main programs (210).
when I want to modify an include in LSMW.
The effect is for example that I cannot open the declaration of a data element.
Is there something I can do?
    Best regards
    Volker

    Hi Michael,
I have updated ADT to newest version (com.sap.adt.core is now 2.31.5).
When I type something in that Include or save it, the error message is now displayed in status bar (which is of course much better, and I can at least edit the file):
However, when I try to activate this Include, same popup comes as earlier with this error message. It is still not possible to edit the main program in properties.
    What I also found out:
If I create new include, let's name it Z_INCL1, and use it in one program - Z_PROG1, include Z_INCL1 will have as main program Z_PROG1 and everything works fine. (of course).
When I create Z_PROG2 which is including Z_INCL1, main program of Z_INCL1 will be Z_INCL1 and I can no longer compile Z_INCL1. (So far there was nothing new).
Now when I remove Include statement from Z_PROG2, main program of Z_INCL1 will still be Z_INCL1 and I still cannot compile Z_INCL1 with the same error message even thougt it is now only included in 1 program again. I have to remove include statement also from Z_PROG1 and than I am able to compile Z_INCL1 again.
    Have a nice day!

  • Can we use same data definition with multiple concurrent programs?

    Hi,
    My requirement is as below:
I have two concurrent programs (say CP1 and CP2), both concurrent programs need to use same data definition (the same data template xml file) and same RTF layout template. However when registering data definition in the E-Biz, the data definition code must match concurrent program, hence I have to create two definitions (for the same data template xml file) and because layout template is attached with data definition I have to duplicate the layout definition also.
In summary, i have to create two (duplicate) Data Definition and Layout Template for the same dataTemplate.xml and Layout.rtf files. Is there any way to avoid this duplication?
The only issue with duplication is any change in xml or rtf needs to be updated in all the four definitions (2 data definitions and 2 layout definitions).
    Thanks

  • How can I create more than one program shortcuts in LabView Installer?

I have builded 3 executable files in LabView Application Builder. I want to create an installer (using the same application builder) that can copy the 3 files to the same destiny directory, install the Runtime Engine and create (in the same program group) 3 shortcuts for the executables. Is it possible with LabView Installer?

The Application Builder does not offer this option. It is really intended as a basic installer builder. However, you can use other software packages to enhance your isntaller. There are many third party installer builders that you can use to modify the msi file which the application builder create for you. You might want to check one of those out and use it for your application.

  • Can multiple LabVIEW programs simultaneously access the same NI-DAQmx hardware?

I am developing a test station system that, in essence, runs several
seperate LabVIEW programs simultaneously on the same computer, each
controlling a different set of I/O channels on one shared set of NI
DAQ hardware (analog and digital I/O PCI boards with external signal
    conditioning).
I have already gotten a system like this running almost flawlessly
using LabVIEW 6.1, NI-DAQmx 7.1 with traditional channels, and older
E-series DAQ hardware. So long as two programs do not try to write to
the same output channel simultaneously, everything works exactly as
expected--I can even read from the same (named) channel simultaneously
from more than one program. The only issue I have had is that if
    one
of the compiled applications is closed (not just stopped, but closed)
while others are still running, Windows XP (SP1) will bluescreen on a
driver error. This is undesireable, but acceptable (though if there's
    a fix/workaround, I'd love to hear it).
I am now building a similar system using mostly the same software
(with an upgrade to LabVIEW 7.1), and I've noticed that the new
M-series DAQ hardware seems to offer much more bang for the buck than
old E-series hardware and its kin.
My question is this: It appears that I/O on M-series hardware must be
performed with new mx channels, with traditional channels not being an
option. I am therefore wondering if I will be able to do this kind of
multiple simultaneous access with mx channels, or if I must purchase
the classic hardware and use traditional channels for this somewhat
    unorthodox application.
(Incidentally, the multiple simultaneous program thing is a
requirement for this system, as it is the only clean way to run
    multiple
identical copies of the same complete program that only
operate on different I/O channels, and re-doing the program from
    scratch is not an option.)

    Dear Anonymous,
Thank you for contacting National Instruments.
To address your question, I don't know if multiple simultaneous access with mx channels is possible, but I do not see why it wouldn't be. The best way to find out would be to test it. I don't have your program or hardware, so I'm pointing you to some Compatibility VIs. These are VIs that look exactly like Traditional DAQ VIs except that underneath they call the DAQmx driver instead of the Traditional DAQ driver. If your device works when you substitute these Compatibility VIs in for the Traditional DAQ VIs, then you'll know the M Series boards will work for you.
Here is the link for information about the Compatibility VIs:

  • Adobe 6.0 Pro--PDFs created from multiple PDFs don't have bookmarks from structure?

I'm working with my company's 6.0 Pro (old, I know, but what we've got is what we've got,) on a Windows 7 machine. I've read online that in 6.0, PDFs created from multiple PDFs, by defaut, should have bookmarks from structure that use the original filenames as the bookmark names. I was surprised to read this, because ironically enough this is precisely what I began looking online to see if I could do, and all I could seem to find then were ways to get rid of that function. I don't believe that our installation has been modified in any way, but the binders I'm creating don't automatically have bookmarks from their structure, nor do the bookmarks I'm creating from the structure by menu command have the original file names as their names. Such an automatic bookmark structure w/ that naming scheme would in fact be very helpful in our workflow, as we deal with large volumes of files where outside data paired with file names needs to be one-to-one matched against the actual pdf contents, and opening files individually is time consuming. As of now, when I go to create bookmarks from structure in my document made of multiple pdfs, I have two choices: "Document", which only creates a bookmark to the first page of the whole thing, and "Part," which creates bookmarks to the first pages of all the documents that were combined, with each bookmark named "Part."
We would be satisfied with nameless bookmarks except that the combine feaure is also unreliable. It usually switches the first and last files of the alphabetical order, but not always, meaning that we can't rely on bookmark order to know which file we are looking at once the binder is created.
What I'm hoping to discover is if this behavior for 6.0 Pro is really abnormal and if so, what fixes or workarounds might be available. Thanks.

    Just to clarify --
"... should have bookmarks from structure ..."
    Not true.
If a PDF is tagged then Acrobat Pro can create new Bookmarks from the PDF's structure (from the Bookmark panel's Options menu).
Currently there is no other mechanism for this.
This may change after PDF-2 (ISO 32000-2) is released but that is still out on the timeline.
    Just some things to consider.
When combining multiple PDFs into a new, single PDF click on the Options button and tick "Always add bookmarks..."
This should give you the filename. If a PDF has an entry in its "Title" this will be a bookmark nested under the top (filename) bookmark.
Also, when combining PDFs if there is no entry in "Tiltle" expect to see the filename as a bookmark.
It there is an entry for "Title" expect to see the "Title" entry as the bookmark.
What you describe for the elements/tags "Document" and "Part" are consistent with what they are and how they are permitted to be used in a tagged PDF.
    (See ISO 32000-1, Section 14.8)
    Be well...

Hello.  May I ask:  I am using Acrobat 6.0.2, and having trouble formatting a PDF created from multiple (jpeg) files.  Each page is formatted to A4 size, portrait.  But when I create the PDF, each sheet appears as tiny, in the middle of a huge white page.  I cannot seem to find any controls to adjust this.  Any advice appreciated.

Thanks CtDave, for the further info.  Unfortunately, those suggestions are not working, which is strange.
....Until last week, I used to make multi-page PDFs straight from Photoshop: File > Automate > Make PDF.  One simply choses the files, orders them, and creates a PDF.  (Resolution doesn't matter; 300 DPI is no problem.)  However, my new Photoshop CS5 does not have the option in Automate.
What I've done, seeing as Acrobat is letting me down, is use Bridge (new to me) to create the PDF.  It worked without a problem, but seems like more work than the old PS method.  I will download a newer version of Acrobat to see if that makes any difference.
.....Also, thanks Test Screen Name:  I agree with you that jpeg is irrelevant, and that one can make a PDF from Photoshop (Print > Save As - pdf).  But that only works for SINGLE PAGE pdf, not multiple pages as far as I can tell.
    Kind regards,

  • Create from multiple files - some pages repeat or disappear

Hello from Colorado. I am using Acrobat 6.0 Pro and have experienced some strange behavior when I try to create from multiple files. I created my basic one-page form and then completed 8 pages of answers, saving each page as an individual file (form_p1, form_p2, etc). When I tried to assemble all of the pages with the create from multiple files, I got two page one and my page two disappears -- all the other pages (3 thru 8) processed normally. I have tried saving my files with different names and then combining -- but with the same results. I have also tried to combine pages 2 thru 8 first and then add page 1 at the end -- in this case my page one disappeared and I got another page 2! I have checked all of the document properties and I cannot see anything amiss. I have used create from multiple files before without incident, but this time I'm stuck. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Did the forms contain fields with the same name?
