Creating a new db connection

I'm trying to configure my first connection with JDev 9.0.3 and am getting an error when I "Test Connection". Here's what I've entered:
Connection Name: dev_odin_ncamp
Connection Type: Oracle (JDBC)
Username: ncamp
Password: ********
Role: <empty>
Deploy Password: <unchecked>
Driver: thin
Host Name: odin
JDBC Port: 1523
SID: dev_odin
Then when I click "Test Connection" I get the following error.
Io exception: Connection refused(DESCRIPTION=(TMP=)(VSNNUM=135296000)(ERR=12505)(ERROR_STACK=(ERROR=(CODE=12505)(EMFI=4))))
What exactly does this mean? Can anyone point me in the right direction in debugging this?
Thanks,
Scott

The problen is usually that the SID is wrong - make sure that you are using the SID or global name of the DB not the TNS entry that you would use from SQL*Plus.
So check your TNSNAMES.ORA file to make sure the SID is correct.
You can also issue a "lsnrctl" followed by "status" on the box that is hosting the database to see what Instances it is listening on

the usb and even works on the Imac through wifi and bluethood tethering but NOT through usb!!.
the problem is that trying to make it work i deleted the "profile" usb iphone on the network prefereces panel. Now i only have 3 options: ethernet / wifi / bluetooth

And when i try to add a new one i dont get a USB option.

The question would be more appropriate in the Mac forums as it is not really related to the iPhone.

If you're using USB to connect your computer to Personal Hotspot and can't connect to the Internet, check your computer's network settings. You may need to disconnect and reconnect the USB Ethernet interface.
Select your operating system for instructions.
    Mac OS X
Go to System Preferences > Network.
    Select the Ethernet adapter.
Click the gear icon and choose Make Service Inactive.

  • Rel 12 - How to create a new APPS connection from custom Java/Shell Script

    Hi,
I am looking to write a custom JAVA code / Shell Script which needs to establish a connection to execute a PL/SQL API on Rel 12 db.
The challenge is to be able to connect without specifying APPS Password anywhere (just like Oracle Apps does it).
This Shell script / Java code is not called from within Apps hence I need to establish a brand new connection along the lines of using ....
    WebAppsContext ctx = new WebAppsContext(System.getProperty("JTFDBCFILE"));
    OracleConnection conn = (OracleConnection)ctx.getJDBCConnection();
like in 11i world or possibly using APPLSYSPUB username
I need help / direction in how to do this in a Rel 12 env. I understnad there are lot of architecture changes and if someone can provide a generic code snipped it will be great.
I need to keep this as closely aligned to Rel 12 coding and security standards as possible.
This code will reside in $XXCUSTOM_TOP/bin file or under XXCUSTOM.oracle.apps.java....... if its Java.
    Pls help.
    Cheers
    -- VK.

    Hi,
Have you looked at Oracle produced dbc file and its contents? That might help. It is under $FND_TOP/secure. It uses GWYUID=APPLSYSPUB/PUB. I am hoping that the APPS_JDBC_URL would help too.

  • Can't create new synchronization connection.

When i'm trying to add new synchronization connection i get error "Access to the requested resource(s) is denied"
I'm trying to create connection using farm account, both FIM services and UPS services are running.
    ProfileSynchronizationSetupJob is completed.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Justin,
According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you created a new synchronization connection in SharePoint 2013.
Did you provide the Service Account "Create all child objects" permissions in Active Directory? Please check as the followings, and compare the result:
Open the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in
On the View menu, click Advanced Features.
Right-click the domain object, such as "company.com", and then click Properties.
On the Security tab, if the desired user account is not listed, click Add; if the desired user account is listed, proceed to step 7.
In the Select Users, Computers, or Groups dialog box, select the desired user account, and then click Add.
Click OK to return to the Properties dialog box.
    Click the desired user account.
Make sure the ‘Create all child objects’ is selected in the permissions list.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
    Close the snap-in.
In addition, this error happens when you create a new connection using an existing name.
Here is a similar post for you to take a look at:

  • Creating new ODBC connection does not show the tables

    Post Author: reemjacob
CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
    Hello
I am creating a new ODBC Connection to SQL Server in Database Expert. Once I created the ODBC when I expand the Database I should be seeing the tables, views and stored procedures. But instead I am only seeing stored procedures. When I right click on the DB and go to options I see that Tables, Views and Stored Procedures are checked. How can I correct this so that I see the Tables and Views?
    Regards
    Reem

Not an Oracle proble. Not an instant driver problem.
If the ODBC tool and driver you use, fail to construct the proper SQL to interrogate the very rich Oracle data dictionary.. what is Oracle suppose to do? Fix the software from those vendors for the user? Not going to happen. Get Oracle Raptor instead and use a proper Oracle client.
Simple test. Run the following SQLs via your ODBC connection.
To see all your objects in your schema (i.e. the one you logged into via ODBC):
    SELECT * FROM user_objects
To see a list of schemas:
SELECT username FROM all_users ORDER BY 1
    To view other schemas' contents:
    SELECT * FROM all_objects
Also note that historically ODBC has delivered poor performance. I recall many performance tests I've done during the 90's that showed ODBC up to 3x slower and generating more than 4x the network traffic, than native connections. Not too mention using ODBC introduces an additional software layer, which means more moving parts, more complexity, and more failures.
I have not touched ODBC with the proverbial 10ft pole since - and today, I have even less need to use a clunky software layer like ODBC. And should I be forced to, it will be passthru all the way.

  • Issue with Check in of template or creation of new site connection issue...

Hi all, when ever i am trying to check in a new template through Dynamic converter or else, try to create a new site connection through site designer, i am getting the below error message, can anyone please let me know whats needs to be done to get this issue resolved.....
    Content Server Request Failed
Unable to execute service DC_CHECKIN_NEW and function Imeta.
(System Error: Unable to execute query 'Imeta(insert into DocMeta (dID, xComments, xCpdIsTemplateEnabled, xCpdIsLocked, xReadOnly, xHidden, xCollectionID, xInhibitUpdate, xTrashDeleter, xTrashDeleteLoc, xTrashDeleteName, xTrashDeleteDate, xForceFolderSecurity, xDiscussionCount, xDiscussionType, xPartitionId, xWebFlag, xStorageRule, xWebsiteObjectType, xTemplateType, xWebsites, xDontShowInListsForWebsites, xWebsiteSection) values(13, '', 0, 0, 'FALSE', 'FALSE', 0, 'FALSE', '', 0, '', null, 'FALSE', 0, 'N/A', '', '', '', '', 'GUI Template', '', '', ''))'. ORA-29861: domain index is marked LOADING/FAILED/UNUSABLE)
    Thanks & Regards,
    Prashant.

    Found this on metalink: NOTE:737470.1
    Cause:
"This is caused by zone indexed fields that were created outside of the Content Server interface. Dropping and recreating the zoned index fields should resolve the issue."
To implement the solution, please execute the following steps:
Log in to the Content Server through the browser as sysadmin.
Navigate to Administration -> Zone Fields Configuration.
On this page, change the value of the search engine in the dropdown list to DatabaseFullText if database full text indexing is being used. Leave it set to Database if database metadata only indexing is being used.
If there are fields listed in the left-hand box (Zone Text Fields):
Make a note of all the fields listed in the left-hand box (Zone Text Fields), or take a screenshot of this page.
Remove all of the fields from the Zone Text Fields box by highlighting each field and clicking the right arrow.
    Click the Update button.
Run the following query directly against the database to see if any zoned fields are still present. The zoned fields can be identified by the ZFT suffix, for example, DDOCTITLE_REVISIONS_ZFT:
    Select index_name from user_indexes where table_name = 'REVISIONS';
If any indexes with the ZFT suffix are returned in the results as an index, drop that index from the Revisions table in the database.
Verify that the error no longer appears.
Re-add any desired zoned field indexes through the Administration -> Zone Fields Configuration page.

Download, and then unzip OEPE plugins directly into the Eclipse dropins folder and restart Eclipse."
This is what I have done,

The documentation is out of date. The unzip to dropins method is no longer supported. The OEPE zip you downloaded is actually an archived repository. You can follow the instruction for installing using Eclipse Update Manager and point to the downloaded zip instead of the online repository.
I will follow up to get the docs updated.

    Hi Howard,
is this your first usage of BWA? Normally this config is done by the initial installation normally from your HW vendor.
Please use the python standalone tool trexadmin to setup this RFC connection:
    1. Log on with the user <sapsid>adm.
    2. Enter the following:
    cd <TREX_DIR>
    ./TREXAdmin.sh
Go to the tab 'Connectivity' and create a new RFC connection.
    Regards,
    Jens
