Creating a query or report in MARS
I need to create reports for two things:
How many users (IPs) hit our website more than once per day,
and How many users browse our site for more than 20 minutes at a time.
Since these "events" are normal and not breaking any "rules" can I query or report on them?
I have an FWSM and an IDSM2 behind that (inside) logging to the MARS.
Because of the way the HTTP protocol works,
what you're asking for would be very difficult [if not impossible] to do reliably based soley on events coming info CSMARS from FWSM and IDSM2.
If you really want to do this, your best bet is to use a tool to analyze the actual web server logs.

Steps on how to proceed to create a Query:
ADHOC QUERY
A query can be created to extract information from master records i.e Infotypes. For example, by creating a query , the data relating to an employee contained in various Infotypes can be extracted.
Proceedure :
Decide on the various Infotypes we want to make the query. Decide on the area where we want to query i.e Global area or Standard area. Standard area is client specific and globel area will include all clients.
Menu : HR PM Admn - Information System - Adhoc Query
Select area standard and select the user group already created
Creation of new query :
TC SQ03 - Select Environment Select Standard Area - Enter -- If new user group is to be created, enter name of the user group, click on create and enter necessary information and exit after saving
TC SQ02 - Enter name of the Infoset Create enter name of Infoset - Data source -- > Table join by basis table give name of table e.g pa0000 - Enter - Click on insert table if we want to include more tables give name of table one by one and after finishing, place cursor on the joining lines and right click to delete unwanted relationships - check - and go back - field groups - include all table fields - click on generate button - go out
TC SQ03 - Select user group - eg. Payroll
Infoset - Enter name of newly created Infoset
Assign users and Infosets - Assign infosets - put tick on payroll - save and go back
TC PAAH - Expand the nodes and put tick on relevant fields depending upon necessity
Save the query by giving the same name as infoset for easyness..
For executing a query which is already created
1. Go to SQ01 transaction
2. Go to Environment menu->query areas->std areas
3. Then choose the user group where the query is created
4. It will display all the queries created for the group.choose the query you want to executeand click execute.
5. will take to the initial screen
6. Enter the required parameters and execute

Have a cube(Unified) created in BW 7.4.
To create an input form using that cube(unified), Is it mandatory that I need a BEx query for the input form/report?
i.e. To create an input form/report in BPC 10.1 Unified environment using a Unified model, is it a MUST to have a BEx query in place? Or, can I create an input form using 10.1 Unified model without BEx query using 10.1 Unified model?

It doesn't matter what you include in the rows and what in columns or free characteristics: think of it as a sub-cube of the original cube. You are basically listing Dimensions you need in a group of you reports and can add new measures.
In BPC report you'll arrange them on the screen, format, protect, etc.
So, some of it is a repeat (not all tho), but for different purposes.

What is view ?
once you execute the query and save the output as view right ?
But we can not see the view in query output.
Insted of executing the query, directly we can execute the view which you have saved as query output.
Open the BEX and search for the view insted of query then it will give you the out put directly.

I have a need for creating a validation on a SQL Query (updateable report)- type region
1)
When a row get populated i don't want same values to be populated in the second row.(as shown in first 2 rows)
Also, I don't want to have a value that falls in range in between 100 and 1000 for the period falls in the previous. (as shown in third row)

QUERY HELP!!! trying to create a query
i'm creating a summary report
i have a table with sale dates
for example i have a table tab_1 and column saleDate as

2005
saleDate contains years and there are some missing years where no sale
was made
My report has to display years starting from earliest year
so i have to create a query that starts with 1923
but the problem is that I have to have years that are not in table.
for example i have to display years 1924 which is not in table
so the part of report has to look like
1923 blah blah summary.........
1924 "
1925
1926
2005
2006
upto current year (2006 may not be in the table, but i have to display)
i just need to know the query that can query all the years starting from
the ealiest saleDate to current year

Note:
1) if your start year and end year are 1923 and 2006. Then input as below:
:start_num = 1922
:end_num = 2006
2) Since for some of the years (1924 etc) may not be there in your so you may need to use NVL to print proper indicators.
3) If you have more than one record in tab_1 for a particular year then group them based year and then use it.

Message no. AQ_AD_HOC221 Error when generating the report(see long text )
I tried to execute the standard program RPUMS40CCI but still I am facing same error .
I have also maintained table T777i for my infotype but still problem exists.

Query to Report on Parallel Jobs Running

I would like to get a query that reports on my parallel jobs.
For each minute that a procedure is running I would like to know what stages are running.
I log the whole procedure in a table called run_details and the start and end of each stage in a table called incident.
I'm running Oracle 9i

The number of CPUs are not always a good indication of the processing load that a platform can take - especially when the processing load involves a lot of I/O.
You can have 99% CPU idle time with a 1000 active processes... as that idle time is in fact CPU time spend waiting on I/O completion. Courtesy of a severely strained I/O channel that is the bottleneck.
Another factor is memory (resources). You for example have 4 CPUs with 8GB physical memory.. where a single process (typically a Java VM for a complex process) grabs a huge amount of memory. Assuming that 4 threads/CPU or 1 threads/CPU can be a severe overestimate due to the amount of memory needed. Getting this wrong leads in turn to excessive virtual memory paging and reduces the platform's performance drastically.
CPU alone is a very poor choice when deciding on the platform's capacity to run parallel processes. -

Suppose I have table, whose structure changes frequently on daily basis.
For eg. desc my_table gives you following column name on Day 1

Now I want to create an Dynnamic RTF report which would fetch data from ALL columns from my_table on daily basis. For that I have defined a concurrent program with XML as output type and have attached a data template/data definition to it which takes in XML as input and gives final output of conc program in EXCEL layout. I am able to do this for constant number of columns, but dont know how to do it when the number of columns to be displayed changes dynamically.
For Day 1 my XML file should be like this.

Now, I dont know below things.
Make the XML dynamic as in on Day 1 there must be 3 columns in the SELECT statement and on Day 2, 5 columns. I want to create one dynamic XML which should not be required to be changed if new columns are added in my_table. I dont know how to create this query and also create their corresponding elements below.
Make the RTF template dyanamic as in Day1 there must 3 columns in EXCEL output and on Day 2, 5 columns. I want to create a Dynamic RTF template which would show all the columns selected in Dynamic XML.I dont know how the RTF will create new XML tags and how it will know where to place it in the report. Means, I can create RTF template on Day 1, by loading XML data for 3 columns and placing 3 XML tags in template. But how will it create and place tags for new columns on Day 2?
Hope, you got my requirement, its a challenging one. Please let me know how I can implement the required solution using RTF dynamically without any manual intervention.

Is there any way to UPDATE the XML file attached to a Data Definition (XML Publisher > Data Definition) using a standard package or procedure call or may be an API from backend? I am creating an XML dynamically and I want to attach it to its Data Definition programmatically using SQL.
Please let me know if there is any oracle functionality to do this.
If not, please let me know the standard directories on application/database server where the XML files attached to Data Definitions are stored.
For eg, /$APPL_TOP/ar/1.0/sql or something.

What I want to do is only display the Select List for the FK depending on the value of the Select List on Item Type, e.g.

Item_Type is 'HS' then display Select List for hardware_os_id, do not display and set to NULL the Select Lists backup_dev_id and hardware_id.
There are properties on elements to conditionally display it but how do we reference the values of the SQL query Updateable region? they are not given a page item name?
Also on the Tabular For Elements there is an Edit tick against a report item - however when you go to the Column Attributes there is not a property with which you can control the Edit setting.
What's the best way of implementing this requirement in APEX 3.1?

I have a multi-row region that displays values and allows entries in a number of fields.Provide exact details of how this has been implemented. (An example on apex.oracle.com is always a good way to do this.)
I should like the fields to be conditional in that they do not permit entry, but still display, if certain conditions apply (e.g. older rows greyed out). Can this be done? Almost anything can be done, often in multiple ways. Which are appropriate may be dependent on a particular implementation, the skills available to implement it, and the effort you're willing to expend on it. Get a insert session value for SQL query at report
Hi friends
I created a global temp table and procedure to support web search form.
and a search result report. The procudure
gets search result from multip tables and
insert into temp table --recordsearch. I can get value from temp table by call procedure
at SQL*Plus.
However, I can not get this value by web report.
How can I get this insert session value and pass to SQL query for report?
