  • Timeout of session / entity bean

    Hi all
    We are facing "RollbackException: The transaction has been marked for rollback (timed out)" excpetion. please help us in resolving this.
    Here is problem description.
    Code Description:
    Step1: Action class calls Session bean
    Step2:Session Bean does three things
    A. Reads various value from database and write it to fileOutputStream
    B. Generate a Sequence number using Sequence
    C. Call create method of Entity Bean by local reference to insert the created file (in step 2A) in database as blob
    As per our observation session bean takes around 20-30 sec in processing 2A and 2B.
    But at 2-C, code raises following error
    TariffDocumentBlob is the Entity Bean
    TariffSessionEJB is the Session Bean
    javax.ejb.CreateException: Error creating EntityBean: RollbackException: The transaction has been marked for rollback (timed out)

  • RE: Consuming and Creating a CMP Entity Bean

    Hi There,
    I have been trying to find an answer for 1 day. I don't know ehre to look next.
    I am creating a CMP entity bean. I have created all the set and get mehtods as abstract functions. I have added a ejbCreate and a matching ejbPostCreate. The class code looks like this.
    public abstract class COrderBean implements EntityBean {
         protected EntityContext entctx;
         //abstract declarations of property accessors
         public abstract int getId();
         public abstract void setId(int intid);
         public abstract String getCustomerID();
         public abstract void setCustomerID(String strcustomerid);
         public abstract Date getDate();
         public abstract void setDate(Date datorder);
         public abstract String getNotes();
         public abstract void setNotes(String strnotes);
         public void ejbActivate() {}
         public void ejbPassivate() {}
         public void ejbRemove() {}
         public void ejbLoad() {}
         public void ejbStore() {}
         public void setEntityContext(EntityContext context)
              entctx = context;
         public void unsetEntityContext()
              entctx = null;
         public COrderPK ejbCreate()
              return null;
         public COrderPK ejbCreate(int new_id, String new_customerid, Date new_order_date, String new_notes) throws CreateException
              setId(new_id);
              setCustomerID(new_customerid);
              setDate(new_order_date);
              setNotes(new_notes);
              return new COrderPK(getId());
         public void ejbPostCreate(int id, String customerid, Date order_date, String notes) {}
    My client code works with both BMP entity beans and session beans. It is shown below. I am working with Sun's Application Server 8.0 and I created the database schema with the capture-schema.exe command.
    Properties prps = new Properties();
              props.put("javax.rmi.CORBA.UtilClass","com.sun.corba.ee.impl.javax.rmi.CORBA.Util");
              props.put("org.omg.CORBA.ORBClass","com.sun.corba.ee.impl.orb.ORBImpl");
              props.put("org.omg.CORBA.ORBSingletonClass","com.sun.corba.ee.impl.orb.ORBSingleton");
              Context context = new InitialContext(props);
              Object obj = context.lookup("corbaname:iiop:localhost:3700#COrderBean");
              //Object obj = context.lookup("entitybean.OrderItem");
                   IOrderHome home = (IOrderHome)PortableRemoteObject.narrow(obj,Class.forName("ctaejb.entitybean.order.IOrderHome"));
                   //use create
                   IOrderRemote remote = home.findByPrimaryKey(new COrderPK(1));
                   System.out.println(remote.getDate().toString());
    I am getting the follwing error. Can someone please help. Thanks in advance.

    Forget it. All the code works. I didn't know that the Sun App Server required a Persistence Manager to work with CMP entity beans. Once I added the persistence manager, all was OK. Have a good day.

  • Strange Session/Entity Bean Cross-Instance Calls in Cluster

    In one of our enviroments, we are seeing session entity bean cross-instance
              calls that are hard to explain. The following is our configuration:
              The cluster contains 4 instances on 2 machines (2 on each machine). The same
              beans are deployed to each instance. "jndi.properties" is on the classpath
              for the each instance with jndi provider url = mach1inst1-ip, mach1inst2-ip,
              mach2inst1-ip, mach2inst2-ip:70001. Same servlets are also deployed to each
              instances.
              Requests from the web are load balanced through weblogic's proxy plugin for
              IPlanet and are forwarded to the 4 weblogic cluster instances. The servlet
              processing the requests calls a stateless session bean which uses an entity
              bean. The entity bean is configured with "home-is-clusterable" set to
              "false".
              What we have observed is that when all 4 instances are up, sometimes (even
              when the load is not high) the session bean is accessing entity bean from an
              instance on one machine to an instnace on another machine, while if only one
              machine (with 2 instances) is up, we don't see such calls.
              My theory is that because the jndi provider url is the same for all
              instances, the jndi lookup from each instance goes to the instance bound to
              the first IP specified in the provider url: machine 1 istance 1. If the
              request is from machine 2, because of co-location optimization, even though
              the home stub is from machine 1 instance 1, the session bean returned from
              the home stub actually is from machine 2. However, when the session bean
              does jndi lookup to get an entity bean home, the home stub is from machine 1
              and instance 1. And unfortunately, because the entity bean home is not
              clusterable, the stub can only point back to machine 1, co-location can not
              work. Thus entity bean from machine 1 is referenced by the session bean
              located on machine 2. I do not have a chance to verify this. But it seems to
              make sense to me.
              Unfortunately, I don't feel that I have a theory to explain why we don't see
              cross instance session entity bean calls when only 1 machine is up (with 2
              instances).
              Any ideas or hints would be greatly appreciated.
              Thanks,
              David Chen

  • Can CMT Session Bean call BMP Entity Bean in WebLogic 6.0?

              Hi
              Does anybody successfully use CMT Session Bean calling BMP +CMT Entity bean in
              WebLogic6.0? I have the following problem.
              Any idea will be appreciated.
              --Winston
              Let's say we have a Session bean SB, it uses container to manage the transaction.
              A method of SB will call an Entity Bean EB which adopts bean-managed persistence.
              Both SB and EB use CMT and all of their methods use "required" in the descriptor
              file.
              1. If the connection con.getAutoCommit() is true in the EB, then the transaction
              within SB cannot be rolled back as the ejbCreate() has already commit into the
              database.
              2. On the other hand if Connecton of EB con.getAutoCommit() is false, then container
              cannot successfully commit the transaction from SB's method, as EjbCreate and
              EjbStore() in EB are likely using the different database connections, which causes
              EbjStore() fail and the following error message will be sent to the Console:

    We did receive a 4.5.1 / 5.1 interoperability patch - but it wasn't quite 'seamless'.
    We never tried to use it.
    SOAP? Isn't that around 50 times slower than RMI?

    incorrect and ended up saying that it is not possible. Before 6.0 went

    I have the same question - and more. Last year we were told that wecould
    not use
    RMI (and ejbs) between 4.5.1 and 5.1. Which seems kinda weird becauseI've
    heard
    of people using WL ejbs from Tomcat. This issue has caused us to avoidusing
    WL ejbs in any future development which has any chance of ever beingused
    by any
    app server (WL included) that is not under the direct control of thedata
    center.
    I've been trying to convince the Architecture team here that we canuse WL
    EJBs
    and we can call them from other app servers - but can't seem to getany
    supporting
    statement from BEA (maybe I haven't tried hard enough).
    Anyway, a response from BEA would be appreciated.

  • Creating Webservice with entity bean

    I am trying to create a webservice(using entity bean). Using ANT i am building

    WLS 7.0 only supports stateless session bean or a plain java
    class as web service.
    From your post it seems you have trouble doing ejbc.
    You will get better answer if you post this in the ejb
    newsgroup.

  • Multiple create methods of entity beans in single transcation

    Hi,
    I have some entity beans with CMR. I am managing these entity beans with a Stateful session bean whose transaction type is Container Managed for all its methods.
    In one particular method of this Session bean I am calling two entity bean's create method. i.e I am creating two entity beans through home.create() methods. There are two home.create() methods one after another inside a try catch block.
    I want that the entire operation be under just one transcation so i have also given the transaction attribute as Required for all methods of Session bean and Entity Beans.
    However if i pass invalid parameters to second create method so that it generates exception then still the first create statement is successful and database is updated.
    what i want is that the first create also should be roll backed.
    How can i acheive this through Container Managed Transaction Session Bean?

    How can i acheive this through Container Managed Transaction Session Bean?o Do you use TXDatasource with your entity beans?
    o In CMT transactions are automatically rolled back only when RuntimeExceptions
    are thrown. What kind of exception is thrown in your case?

    For auto increment in Oracle you should use Sequence/Trigger combination.

  • EJB/JPA Session/Entity Bean: Back Reference Id not set

    Hello All,
    I m using JPA as a persist tool. I have an entity Account and in Account there is a collection of entity AccountDetail. In Account entity relation for AccountDetail is One-To-Many and in AccountDetail the relation for Account is Many-To-One. When i save the Account, object of Account and AccountDetail are saved correctly. But the problem is that in AccountDetail the Id of Account is not saved in Database table. I have AccountId in AccountDetail table. plz help me??
    Second thing is that how to generate automatically primary keys when entity saved in database ???

    define the column you want to auto increment as an Integer with Identity attribute set to True (using the sql server management tool for example) and then put
    @Id
    @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.IDENTITY)
    in front of the ID declaration in the mapping file, it should generate the IDs automatically.

  • Recurring CacheFullException when creating new Entity Bean

    Normally I can create new instances of my Entity Bean just fine. However, at some point (whether it's after a rollback or not, I don't yet know), I get a CacheFullException when trying to create a new Entity Bean.
    The CacheFullException exception shows a size that increments by one each time this error occurs. The reported size in the exception continually increases way past the max-beans-in-cache amount of 1000. Yet, the Administrator console reports the "Cached beans current count" as zero. So, the cache appears empty, yet every attempt to create a new entity bean fails with a CacheFullException!
    I am using Weblogic Server 8.1 SP3, database concurrency strategy, BMP, and Oracle 9i. The Entity Bean's primary key class was generated by EJBGen (primary key is a java long).
    Stopping and restarting the Weblogic server fixes the problem temporarily.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Jim

    Yes, but if objects are equal they should have same
    hashCode. If it is not happening, you have a problem.Yes, and equal objects do have the same hash code. Please see below for primary key class implementation as generated by EJBGen 2.16.
    There can be a bug in reporting number of beans.OK, are you saying there is a bug that sometimes shows 0 beans in the cache when the cache is actually full? And even if the cache were full, all the beans would have to be involved in transactions for there not to be room for one more new bean in the cache. And I know that there are no other transactions going on, because this is an isolated system that only I am using. Again, Weblogic Server 8.1 SP3.
    It is possible if your PKs don't implement
    equals/hashCode correctly.They look correct to me. Here is the primary key class implementation as generated by EJBGen 2.16. The primary key is a java long, and I am using CMP (not BMP as I mistakenly reported earlier).
    public class StatusPK implements Serializable {
    public long statusID;
    public StatusPK() {}
    public StatusPK(long statusID) {
    this.statusID = statusID;
    private int m_hashCode = 0;
    public int hashCode() {
    if(0==m_hashCode) {
    m_hashCode = ((int) statusID);
    return m_hashCode;
    public boolean equals(Object other) {
    if(other==this) return true;
    if(null==other) return false;
    if(other.hashCode() != hashCode()) return false;
    try {
    StatusPK other2 = (StatusPK) other;
    return (this.statusID==other2.statusID)
    catch(ClassCastException ex) {
    return false;
    The only problem I see with this class is if the default constructor (no args) would be called, then the primary key and hashCode would always be zero. However, I'm assuming here that EJBGen knows what it is doing and that the default constructor is never actually used. In addition, I know that all of the beans in the database have valid primary keys, and they were created the same way that eventually continually fails later on.
    Thanks...
