Creating a table/temporary table joining two or three existing tables

Hi,
I want to perform a join on three tables and want that the result obtained should create a new table and get copied into it ?
More clearly, I m performing some joins on three tables.
I want that a new table(may be temporary) should be created that contains the column names and data of the result obtained after performing joins on the existing tables.
Plz help me as soon as possible.

The problem is not in performing join.
what the exact problem is that, a SELECT query is executed, and whatever the result is obtained, a new table should be created according to the result that table must be populated with that result.
In Oracle we do like this........
create table new_tablename as (select * from table1 left outer join table2 on (table1.id = table2.id))
But in DB2 this query doesnt work. So what can be the corresponding query for DB2 ?? This is exactly what I want to know.

How to Join two diff pl/sql table ???

i have three queries
1.One Query returns office and city
2.Second Query return City - State
3.Third Query returns State and Sub region
I use three cursors and i want the output as Office -City -State -Sub region
city is the joining for 1 and 2
state is the joining for 2 and 3
I am thinking of putting into pl/sql table .if it is okay tell me by giving how u will join the two pl/sql tables and if there is any other way kindly let me know .It is urgernt and please give me the code logic so that i can proceed

First thing why are you using cursors? You can do it
using SQL.Agreed, it can all be specified in a single SQL statement.
Secondly I don't think there is some as Pl/Sql TableThere used to be something called a PL/SQL Table, but these have now, thankfully, been renamed to Associative Arrays, because that is what they are, Arrays, not tables. You can't treat Assoc. Arrays as database tables so you can't do Joins in the same way as you would with an SQL statement. To implement a join using arrays would require some (possibly recursive) loops to process each of the arrays to get the required data. This would of course be a lot slower than just using SQL on database tables.

Best approach to publish new table or new column on existing table on MDW?

I'm refering to Olite R3 without any patches. I don't use Java API, I use MDW.
if I have a new table or a new column on a existing table, what's the best approach to publish it?
I'm asking this because I've trying lots of approaches and the only solution was, step-by-step:
1) On MDW, drop the publication item
2) Add again the publication item
3) Associate the publication item to the publication
4) Save everything
5) File / Deploy (if I don't do it, it does not work)
6) Tools/Package... (that's where it's a problem: if I don't remove the app and create it again it does not work!)
7) on the client side, I perform a msync with "force refresh"
That's the only way I found to publish new items for sure. Any other action does not push the new table or new column to the client's embbeded DB.
Any comments?

I do not use MDW, rather a mix of java and the final publish step you use, but
Adding new PIs should be easy, just add them and re-publish (no need to drop anything)
for changes, if you just have new columns and the sql statement is 'select * from' then you should just need to make the changes in the base schema objects, and run the publish with no changes and the updates should be picked up. If selecting specific columns, then update and re-publish.
When using MDW at the end you can save the application as a jar file, and then use this jar file to publish in the mobile manager - this is the best wayto publish.
Have a look at this jar file in winzip, and you will find it contains a web.xml file. This is the xml definition of the publication items, and for simple changes it is possible to just edit this file and republish via the mobile manager

Save it as Workbook
Open the work book
Execute the 2nd Query in another sheet using Insert Query
Move result area of this 2nd query to wherever u want using Move result area

JOIN two tables and creat a new one

dear all,
as a newbie in Bw i have a question.
I worked already with other etl tools (powercenter) where there are objects to join 2 tables and create a new one to create a total transforming process to load a fact table.
In BW an INFOSET is the only thing to join 2 odssen. On this a query can be created.
BUT HOW TO JOIN 2 TABLES (= only ODS object?) AND CREATE A NEW TABLE FOR FUTHER PROCESSING ????

Problem encountered when join two remote tables in a materialized view

Using a view to join two tables

I am using this code in my MySQL db to create a view.

    umr_cost_calculation.plant_name,

group by job.id , umr_cost_calculation.plant_name
I did this so I can join two tables and pull in the most current cost data for a specific plant. The report will, at times, show the wrong (older) data. I can re-run the report, filter to just the one job and see again the wrong data. When I add the max_id to the report, it display the id and updates the report with the correct data. It appears that the view was stale and by adding the ID to the report this fixed the issue.
1) Is this the best way to make this join? I don't see how Crystal supports a subquery to make a join (this is why I used the view).
2) If I leave the max_id on the report, will this force the view to always update?

Unable to join two fact tables via one common dimension in RPD(Repository)

I have created two fact tables F1 & F2 and one dimension D.
F1 is joined to D and F2 is also joined to D in Physical layer as well as in BMM layer.
I created one report in OBI Answers using these three tables.It Showed me the following error.

I have made a logical table TEST and dragged two fact tables f1 & f2 in source.
Now when i drag different columns from different fact tables(that are in TEST logical table) in report, it gives an error and not making any joins that you are mentioning.

Joining two fact tables for subject area

When I tried to use two simple fact tables joined by a dimension, I am getting the “ No fact table exists at the requested level of detail” error in the answer when I try to pull the columns from Fact 1 and Fact 2 tables. I have set the content in both the fact table to lowest granularity of dimension with CUST_ID, RAT_ID, ACT_ID keys. We have one to many relationships between dimension and both the fact tables. Any feedback is highly cherished.
Fact1: keys are: CUST_ID, RAT_ID, ACT_ID, YEAR
Fields are CUST_ID, RAT_ID, ACT_ID, YEAR , Rev1, Transaction Date
Fact2: keys are: CUST_ID, RAT_ID, ACT_ID, YEAR

These fact tables have history tables F11 AND F22 and we have to use partition logic for this.How you did partition ? you should be using Fragmentation logic for that any how you will add the F11/F22 tables to F1 and F2 LTS , so when you join F1 & F2 to the common dimension then it should work for the calucluated measures but dont forgot to create hierarchies and specify the content levels for the fact tables

We have multiple dimensions D1,D2,D3, D4,D5, D6, D7, D8.
We have common dimension table D1.
F1, F2 are joined to D1 on the item Id.
F1 should be joined to F2 on the Invoice Id.
We have calculated columns in F1 based on the columns in F2.
Please let me know the best way to build a bmm in this scenario.

We are trying to run a sub-query within a WHERE/AND clause. I am not sure on the correct syntax on how to run the sub-query as denoted in the code below.
