Creating a text variable with color's

Is it possible to define a different color to each string variable as a "combined" string variable is created ?
i.e
Tier + " " + " " + {SRMARRAY.ARRAYSERIALNUMBER}+ " " + {SRMDEVICEALLOCATION.HOSTORHBAALIAS}
would like this be be :-
Tier + " " + " " + RED {SRMARRAY.ARRAYSERIALNUMBER}+ " " + BLUE{SRMDEVICEALLOCATION.HOSTORHBAALIAS}

Why not???
Just create a new formula like this...
//New Formula
if isnull({SRMARRAYDEVICE.SHAREDOBJECTLIST}) THEN
{SRMDEVICEALLOCATION.HOSTORHBAALIAS} ELSE
{SRMARRAYDEVICE.SHAREDOBJECTLIST}
Then use a Text Object like this...
Tier {ARRAYSERIALNUMBER} {@New Formula}

    Hi Stefania,
    to me it looks like your local variable num_mese is not defined with the correct data type.
    Try to change
    if num_mese = 09 to if num_mese = <b>'</b>09<b>'</b>,
    same for 10 -> '10', 11 -> '11'.
    If that does not help please let me know your coding where you define the type of num_mese (DATA statement).

  • CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME IN CREATING A TEXT VARIABLE???

    Hello Friends,
    I want to display the Key and Text for 0CALYEAR in a report. I searched the forum and it seems that for doing this I need to create a text variable. In the query designer I tried creating a text variable for 0CALYEAR, but in the variable wizard, the "Type of characteristic" drop-down is greyed out. Please guide me in creating a text variable and on a larger scale in getting the Key and Text for 0CALYEAR. Thanks!
    Regards,
    Prem.

    Hello Friends,
    Thanks a lot for your replies!!! I am really delighted to see the helping spirit of the forum. I have assigned points to all of you. Thanks again!
    Now coming to the issue. Let me reply individually. (Friends, reply may be a bit lengthy. Please read atleast your part fully).
    Venkat, you said that we can display the key and text for 0CALYEAR if the texts are mainted for it. However, in the display option for 0CALYEAR there is no option for text. Moreover, since 0CALYEAR is provided by SAP itself, I did not find any option for maintaining texts for it. Infact in 0CALYEAR, under the master data tab the "With texts" option is unchecked. Please share some info on this one.
    Srini, your suggessted solution was not possible as there was no option for displying text in the context menu for 0CALYEAR.
    Karthik, I tried your solution. In my KeyFigures structure I have only two key figures and the 0CALYEAR is in rows. What I did was I right-clicked on "Key Figures" and clicked on New Selection. In the popup screen there is a button for variables. Clicking on it and then clicking on the "New" opton in the subsequent window brought me to the variable creation wizard. Interestingly this is a text variable creation wizard. Happily I created a text variable with replacement path and selected 0CALYEAR as the characteristic. Then I selected "Name(text)" for "Replace variable with" option. Everything went fine. Under key figures, I got an icon which is having a green triangle with a matrix cube (Apologies for explaning the situation like this :-). This is essentially the icon for characteristics. The description reads "&ZTXTVAR& New Selection". Now when I try to run the report I get an error saying "Use a Key Figure everywhere in the structure 'Keyfigures' ". I think the text variable is not getting created, instead a New selection is getting created. Please assist. Thanks!
    Regards,
    Prem.

  • Used of Sap text variable with replacement path in Bo designer

    Dear experts,
    I created a univers based on a SAp BW query. In this query I used a text variable in order to get dynamic header columns.
    The text variable is done by using "replacement path" that is the text is derived automatically from the user input triggered by a sap bw variable.
    example :
    the query contains a restricted key figure which shows net values for a selected year based on variable PYEAR.
    The name of this restricted keyfigure is &ZYEAR& where ZYEAR is the text variable with replacement path from the variable PYEAR.
    When generated the univers based on this query I get component &YEAR&.
    When I use this unvers in WebI my result containts header with &YEAR& althougth I selected for example the year 2006.
    According to several how to and white papers on SDN , it seems that text variables with replacement path are supported. So I am disapointed by this result.
    Can you give me advise to get a rigth result ?
    thanks a lot
    Olivier Doubroff

    Hi Rishit,
    I am trying to achieve the same as you, but it seems like text variables in restricted key figures do not work. I am using BO XI3.1 SP3 and SAP BW 7.01 SP6.
    A work-around for me has been to use the "user response" function in webi to create a webi variable that holds the dynamic text title. If the user inputs Jan 2010, I change the input to a date using the "user response" and "ToDate" functions in the webi variable editor. After changing the input to a date I use the RelativeDate to extract 1 month (e.g. 25 days) from the user input. Then I have both Jan 2010 and Dec 2010 as webi variables to use as headers for my restricted key figures.
    The formulas can easily become a little long, but by tweaking the user response string, you should be able to get dynamic headings by using webi functionality. But be aware that you need one webi variable for each dynamic heading if you use this method.
    Let me know if it works or if I can help more:-)
    Best regards,
    Morten

  • Text Variable with Replacement Path

    Hi,
    I want to create a report which will show me 5 years of data. I have used a variable for Fiscal year which will be given by the user. Now I created a 5 key figures with offset to show the 5 years of data.
    I used a text variable with replacement path based on Fiscal Year, to display the year in the column heading. But I am only able to get the correct year in the first column. Rest of the column is showing me the same heading. Actually the offset is not working for the text variable.
    Can anybody let me know how could we achiev the column heading for the columns with offset.
    Thanks

    Prashanth,
    I have used a replacement variable in the exact situation. Instead of years, I have different months. I have used this variable on 0CALMONTH. I also have two more keyfigures where CALMONTH is offset by -12 and +1.
    This variable works perfectly for me as expected.
    Did you check the data to make sure that your offset is working? This is was I did for Offsetting and i am sure you have done the same thing.
    Right click on the variable, "restrict". A window opens with the values. With the variable selected in the right side, right click "Specify Variable Offsets". If the replacement variable is built on this infoObject, it should work.
    Hope it helps. Let me know if you still can not find a solution.

  • Regarding text variable with replacement path.

    Hi Friends,
    Please can any one tell me good scenario where we can use text variable with replacement path..
    i have already searched in forum,but that scenario's i did not under stand.
    Please send.
    i will assign points.
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi,
    There is a scenario:
    One has to show, a Period like May 2008 for a report. i.e the report which u r showing is common for May 2008. So u create a text variable on this Fiscal Year Period. When u do this, the Text appears on the Top of the report. So later, whenever u execute a report for a particular month, u get that Header as Jue, July etc etc.
    Its just a header. Text Variable promts u to display the Header with our own uploaded Desire Data.
    Steps.
    1) Edit your query
    2) Right click 'keyfigures' or other structure, choose 'new selection',
    3) beside description there is 'variable' button, click and then choose 'new', a variable screen will come out, type in your variable name, description, choose 'replacement path' for processing by. click 'next'.

  • How to create a text Component With Certain Properties

    I need to create a text component with the following properties:
    Has Capability to be italic, right/left aligned, have different background / foreground colors, and most importantly, the ability to have a fixed width and a height that is set by the amount of text in it (ie line wrapping expands the field vertically).
    It should be a simple exercise, but I cannot seem to figure out how to do it.

    Here is the correct syntax :
    private static JEditorPane constructPane(String text, int normWidth, int normHeight, boolean rightAlign, boolean italic,boolean isWhite) {
              JEditorPane pane = new JEditorPane();
              pane.setEditable(false);
              pane.setContentType("text/html");
              pane.setText(
                   "<html><head></head><body>"
                   + (italic?"<i>":"")
                   + "<table><COLGROUP><COL width=\""+normWidth+"\"><THREAD><tr><td valign=\"top\" align="+(rightAlign?"\"right\"":"\"left\"")+">"
                   + text+"</td></tr></table>"
                   + (italic?"</i>":"")
                   + "</body></html>");
              pane.setSize(normWidth,normHeight);
              if(isWhite)
                   pane.setBorder(BorderFactory.createCompoundBorder(BorderFactory.createMatteBorder(1,0,1,0,Color.WHITE),BorderFactory.createEmptyBorder(0,1,0,1)));
                   pane.setForeground(Color.WHITE);
              else {
                   pane.setBorder(BorderFactory.createCompoundBorder(BorderFactory.createMatteBorder(1,0,1,0,Color.BLACK),BorderFactory.createEmptyBorder(0,1,0,1)));
                   pane.setForeground(Color.BLACK);
              return pane;

  • How to Create a Text Variable

    Hi Experts...
    Can you please explain me how to create a Text variable...
    In my Cube i had 3 different date fields....
    and as per my requirment i need to create a rolling report for which will display data for 6 months rolling.
    As the date field which i need to use is not mapped to Time Char's (Cal Year,Cal Month...etc)
    For that reason i created below customer exit variable and used offset variables to achieve the rolling 6 months report
    Code used for Customer Exit VAriable:
    WHEN 'ZC_Cmonth1'. " Current Cal Month Car Expiry
    IF i_step = 2.
          CLEAR l_s_range.
    determine date
        LV_SYDAT     =  SY-DATUM.
        LV_YEAR_ACT  =  SY-DATUM+0(4).
        LV_MONTH_ACT =  SY-DATUM+4(2).
    Set begin date of intervall
    CONCATENATE LV_YEAR_ACT LV_MONTH_ACT '01' INTO LV_DATE_LOW.
    Set end date of intervall
    CONCATENATE LV_YEAR_ACT LV_MONTH_ACT '31' INTO LV_DATE_HIGH.
    Fill ranges-tab with: include all values between beginning of year
    and actual date
      CLEAR E_T_RANGE.
      CLEAR L_S_RANGE.
      L_S_RANGE-SIGN = 'I'.
      L_S_RANGE-OPT  = 'BT'.
      L_S_RANGE-LOW  = LV_DATE_LOW.
      L_S_RANGE-HIGH = LV_DATE_HIGH.
      APPEND L_S_RANGE TO E_T_RANGE.
    ENDIF.
    Now i need to create TEXT VARIABLE that will display the Month Name in the column name
    Please update in detail step how to create a Text Variable

    In your specific requirement select the which ever the keyfigure you want  to analyse, go to edit mode of keyfigure propeties there select the newvariable type and create the Text variable by maintaining the proper offset start and length and also maintain the in whcih format u want see the month name in column headers. Maintain the Text format or key format. it totally depends on u r requirement.
    Hope it will help ful for u.
    Bye,
    Chandu.

  • Time Format using text variable with replacement path

    Hi Friends,
                                 I've used "Text variable with replacement path" to make the column heading dynamic by replacing the values referring from "0calday"...
    everything is working fine, but here it is displaying the time format like
    YYYYMMDD (20030101), i want it to be displayed DDMMYYYY (01012003) in the column heading... how to make it possible?
    pls waiting for ur inputs, it's an urgent...
    Regards,
    Pattnaik

    Hi Satyakam,
    In the text variable properties make sure that in the replacment path you have chosen "Text" to appear date as per user setting . Other wise as in your case it must be set to "Key" which always shows in the format YYYYMMDD.
    Hope that helps.

  • Text Variable With Replacement Path : supported in Webi 4.0 or Not.??

    Hello to All WebI Gurus,
    We are on BO 4.0
    We are building WebI report on top of Bex query using the BICS connection from IDT.
    Our BW query is having some Text Variable with processing type "Replacement Path".
    Also its having fiscal year period in filter with user input variable.
    the text variables references Fiscal year period and are used in Key figure description,
    hence whatever value the input variable will capture the description of Key figure changes accordingly/dynamically.
    But when I try to use it in BO it throws me an error msg saying :
    Unknown error occured in SL Services
    I am Aware that text variable in this fashion were not supported in BO XI3.1
    Used of Sap text variable with replacement path in Bo designer
    So are Text variable Supported in BO 4.0 in this fashion.
    Any response will be highly appreciable.
    Thanks & Regards
    Neeraj

    Hi,
    Here's a great SDN article, which includes several slides covering u201CWhich BEx features are supported using BICS connectivityu201D : http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/d056e1bc-2794-2e10-959e-8779c5623cc5
    Pages 8 -> 12 cover these topics.
    If your design choices are compliant (supported) then i'd avise opening a support case if this issue persist after checking again on Patch2.11 (release recently)

    Is there a simple way to create a scrollable text article in Indesign 5.5? It will later be exported to a SWF as a mini-flash web portfolio.
    I would appreciate any help.
    I'm new to Indesign.

    Do you mean a text box people can type in (for a Web form
    entry) or one for displaying your content?
    If the first, then you use the textarea tag and scrollbars
    appear when the user types more lines that you specify. See the
    textarea
    description at W3Schools.
    If the second, then that's usually done in Flash, but can be

  • How to create a text variable for Calender Yr/Month depending on the prompt for calendar year

    Hi everyone
    Please assist on this issue:
    i have created a Bex report that has an offset for 12 months from the current calender month, i tried to use text variables to replace the calender months but i just learned now text variables from Bex dont work in BO, so I would like to create a prompt in BO to enter Calendar Year and then based on the input(Calender Year) the Webi report must display a 12 months for that Year.
    Please also indicate where exactly  i have to click in order to get that "Helpful icon "  when the my issues have been resolved, because i searched it and havent seen it anywhere on the communications
    Thanks in Advance
    Ole

    Hi Gill
    In BO I recieve my all months for existing data  and when i create a prompt for Calender Year the months in the report still has those text varibale for exampl if i enter 2011 on the prompt the text remains for the year that was already there wen i created my text variable... so its not dynamic.....
    So if i have text variables in Bex it will display like this in Webi in which it wont change if i put in 2011 as input for the prompt...

  • How to auto create a global variable with specific variable name in a global vi ?

    how to auto create a global variable with specific variable name in a global vi using lv ? Because i need to add a lot of global variable in this global vi. But you know, if  i manually add them , it will be a much time-costing work. So i want to use someway to auto generate ? Can i ?? Thanks a lot !

    Hi
    what aartjan is saying is the way for you. but you can develop an utility which will actually help you create global variables. To get the details on this just have a look at VI Scripting section on LAVA forum.
    But i would like you to suggest few things
    1. If your programs have so many global variables (Thats why u want utility) then you should take out some time to read about LabVIEW design patterns. I think if programmer follows these practicess he dont need a single global variable.
    2. Their are some other ways to achieve similar functionality as of global variables (Uninitialized Shift Registers, Single Element Qs and so on) but they are much faster than global variables.
    I am Attaching Whatever Resources i am having I will also attach the template of the design pattern i generaly use in short duration

  • Wondering how to create a text box with variables...

    Hi everyone,
    I was wondering how to create a text box, that at the beginning of the presentation, the audience fills in regarding what they think constitutes the role they have been chosen for.
    I would like that same box to then appear at the end of the presentation, with the text they typed in at the beginning, so they can reflect on what they think now, and what they thought then. I understand this is done using variables, but i'm not 100% sure.
    I hope I've worded this okay!

    This screenshot shows the properties panel, Style tab for the TEB. I relabeled it to My_TEB, used the X button  to create a user variable v_choice that will replace the generic Text_Entry_Box_1/
    This is the properties panel of a Shape, I went in Edit mode (double clicking)to make the Character section appear, where you find the X button. It opens the dialog box 'Insert Variable' and you can choose the var associated with the TEB. The Maximum Length will define how many characters will be displayed, the value of a variable has maximum 256 characters.

  • Photoshop: Making a text box with color or border.

    How do you fill a text box in Photoshop?
    Answer: You CAN’T.
    Solution:  You CAN do anything you want in Photoshop -we know it’s GREAT - but the steps are not always so easy.  See below for solutions to making it seem that the text box is filled with color, bordered, semi-tansparent etc.
    In Photoshop, a text box is mostly about the text inside and less about the box that surrounds it.  In other words, the box is always transparent and all effects apply to the font shapes typed inside by the user.  Photoshop (CS4) can produce incredible, professional, amazing text images. No Doubt About It!
    A Photoshop text box can display one of two types of bounding boxes:
    Its OBJECT bounding box is there for moving the whole text layer, rotating it, duplicating it and distorting.  Clicking once on the text layer pallet and selecting the move tool (v) will produce this bounding box.  The direct selection tool (a) won’t recognize it.  Note:  If you try to resize the box as an object, it also distorts/stretches the text inside.  This can make cool effects but usually you want the text to stay the way the font was designed.  See: Layers>Type>Warp Text.
    The TEXT bounding box is there for highlighting, re-typing and selecting the margins of the actual text/paragraph etc.  Selecting the text tool and clicking over existing text will produce this bounding box.
    Some features are accessible in either mode.
    The Photoshop text tool has two types of cursors:
    The NEW text box cursor looks like a text insertion cursor (often seen in word processing) WITH a dotted box around it.
    To produce the new text box cursor just select the text tool and move over to a new work area.
    The EDIT text cursor looks very much like the ordinary cursor people are familiar with (no dotted box).
    To produce the edit text tool, hover the text tool over EXISTING text and the cursor changes to the simple insertion shape (without the dotted box).  A click now will put you into text editing mode, not new text box mode.  This drove me batty for a while because I was used to clicking anywhere inside an existing text box and the blinking cursor would pop in automatically - usually at the end of the last letter.  This doesn’t happen in Photoshop; if that NEW text box tool is active, it will try to place a new box anywhere you click sometimes overlapping another.
    When in this mode (edit existing text) you can carefully hover the arrow to the edges of the text box and resize the bounding box without altering the shape of the text itself.  This is how you make the text box larger or smaller to fit/accommodate your needs.  You can also highlight text, insert between words/letters.  Highlighted text is available for changing its font, color, size, cutting/pasting etc.
    To get OUT of the EDIT text mode, click the check box on the tool column above or type enter (not return) or type cmd-return (MAC), ctrl-return (WIN).  If you want to cancel any changes to an existing text box click the ex-circle on the tool column or press the esc key (top left of keyboard-escape key)
    OK, THE MAIN POINT:
    To make an effect that looks like a text box that is filled, bordered, semi-transparent etc., you will have to create an object shape (box) and place it just behind (under) the text box.  Linking the two allows you to move them around easily.  The drawback is that, when you need a larger box, you’ll have to alter the size of both boxes and possibly re-center them to each other (I know it’s sort of dumb to have so many steps just to get a shaded text box or bordered one.)
    Begin by selecting the Rectangle shape tool and draw a shape on the screen of any size.  In the layers pallet a layer is created with two items (layer thumbnail and vector mask) Double click the one on the left the layer thumbnail).  Change its color to a light one such as baby blue or yellow.
    Now select the text tool and click once over that shape.  A text box is created exactly the same size of the rectangle (any shape will work too).
    Type some text into that box and change the font type, size and color to something you might use regularly.  Check to see that the text color is black (can be changed later).  The text automatically wraps around when you reach the edge of this box and fits well (inside margins can be altered by pixel later).
    Now link the two boxes to one another.  Shift-click each layer in the layers pallet to select both and choose the link button at the bottom of the window for layers or go to Layers>Link Layers.  Now when you move one it will move the other too!
    Using the paragraph tools you can center text, indent first line, and add space between paragraphs.  Except the first paragraph seems too close to the top of the colored rectangle; doesn’t it?  Photoshop won’t add extra leading (horizontal space) between the text box and the top of the first paragraph.
    There are two ways to fix this:
    1.     Select the text tool and click inside the existing text then hover the pointer just above the little box/tab in the top center of that rectangle and bring it down just a bit.
    2.     Or you could unlink the two layers (to unlink just click link again while one of the two layers is selected in pallet) and move the colored rectangle up just a bit.
    In the first instance it was not necessary to unlink the boxes.  This is the advantage because altering the colored rectangle without unlinking will distort your text as will altering the text box if you are not in object text mode (see intro.)
    Ok, some advantages:
    Now that you have this set up you can use the background box (colored rectangle) to make other effects.  Select it as a separate layer but you won’t have to unlink it.  To make the box semi-transparent change either the layer OPACITY or the layer FILL (found in the layer pallet).
    To create a border box:
    1.     Select the colored rectangle box and under Layers>Styles>Blending Options (or just double click in an open area of the layer pallet for that shape.)
    2.     Select Stroke, change:  Fill Type color, Color black, Size 4, Position inside, Blend Mode normal, Opacity 100%. Click OK/Apply
    3.     Back in the layer pallet, change the Fill to 0% and you will just have a border with attached text box.  You may have to alter the inside text box again depending on the thickness of that border especially if you made the Position to be inside to keep the sharpness of the rectangle.
    4.     Yes this will work with other shapes and even custom shapes.  Remember to draw the shape first and immediately place a new text box over it BEFORE any other alteration is done.  This ensures that Photoshop creates a text box exactly the same size/dimension of your chosen shape.  It even makes margins fit irregular shapes like triangles.
