Creating a XMLfile using pl/sql procedure.

Hi,
I have a scenario here. I have to create a XML file, in a perticular format. Since its not a well formed XML format, I am facing issues while creating the file.
The XML file format is as below.
<SECTION>10-B</SECTION>
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<Name>
<First>ABC</First>
<Middle>BCD</Middle>
<Lastt>ABC</Last>
<Marks>
<Subj1>89</Subj1>
<Subj2>89</Subj2>
<Subj3>89</Subj3>
</Marks>
</Name>
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<Name>
<First>ABC</First>
<Middle>BCD</Middle>
<Lastt>ABC</Last>
<Marks>
<Subj1>89</Subj1>
<Subj2>89</Subj2>
<Subj3>89</Subj3>
</Marks>
</Name>
<SECTIONCNT>6</SECTIONCNT>
I tried to create the file using utl functions, But it didnt work. I would like to know is there any alternative approach?

Since the details query is having avery long output, I cant print this in one shot. So I am breaking the line and writing the same in the output file.
But this results in breaking the tags/data,

  • Cannot create Materialized View using PL/SQL procedure

    Hello,
    I have a question related to Materialized View creation.
    I have a stored procedure that creates materialized view. When trying to run this procedure I get insufficient privileges error: ORA-01031.
    When I run content of this procedure as anonymous PL/SQL block them materialized view is created without any complications.
    Can you please advice me on that topic?
    Is it even possible to create materialized view in stored procedure as I haven't found an info on it.
    Thanks
    Petr

    Hi chudapet,
    Whenever you do operation in procedure you need to have direct grants and not via a role.
    Most probably the grant to create materialized view is available via a role to your user.
    Assign direct grant to the user:
    grant create materialized view to scott;
    {code}

  • Retrive perticular mail using PL-SQL procedure

    Hi all,
    Anyone knows, how to retrive mails from outlook using PL-SQL procedure?

    The Java library needed by UTL_TCP is not created properly. You may just run $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/initplsj.sql as SYS to install it:
    cd $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin
    sqlplus sys/<sys-password> @initplsj.sql

  • Creating Web service for PL/SQL Procedure with Complex Data Types

    I need to created web service for PL/SQL Procedure with Complex Data types like table of records as parameters, how do we map the pl/sql table type parameters with web service, how to go about these?

    Hello,
    When you are creating a service from a Stored Procedure, the OracleAS WS tools will create necessary Java and PL wrapper code to handle the complex types (table of record) properly and make them compatible with XML format for SOAP messages.
    So what you should do is to use JDeveloper or WSA command line, to create a service from your store procedure and you will see that most of the work will be done for you.
    You can find more information in the:
    - Developing Web Services that Expose Database Resources
    chapter of the Web Service Developer's guide.

  • Creating XML report using PL/SQL Stored Procedure

    Hi Friends,
    I am working on an xml report with the xml source as PL/SQL Stored Procedure.
    I am referring the exercise shown in the following link to understand the process:
       http://orclapp.blogspot.com/2012/02/developing-xml-publisher-report-using.html
    In the example shown in the above link I could not understand the following:
    1) In the following procedure, the out parameter 'retcode' is not used at all.
       What is the importance of this parameter.
        PROCEDURE REPORT (errbuf  OUT VARCHAR2, retcode  OUT VARCHAR2, p_product_id   IN     NUMBER)
    2)  After the xml data is prepared and put to 'l_result' Clob variable, the following
        Loop is executed. I am not able to appreciate why the following loop is required.
         LOOP
             EXIT WHEN l_length = l_retrieved;
             IF (l_length - l_retrieved) < 32000
             THEN
                SELECT SUBSTR (l_result, l_retrieved + 1) INTO l_xmlstr FROM DUAL;
                l_retrieved := l_length;
                fnd_file.put_line (fnd_file.output, l_xmlstr);
             ELSE
                SELECT SUBSTR (l_result, l_retrieved + 1, l_offset)
                  INTO l_xmlstr
                  FROM DUAL;
                l_retrieved := l_retrieved + l_offset;
                fnd_file.put_line (fnd_file.output, l_xmlstr);
             END IF;
         END LOOP;
    3) In the example it is not explained how the concurrent program gets the xml data?
       I assume it is written to a file using the following line of code:
        fnd_file.put_line (fnd_file.output, l_xmlstr);
       I would appreciate if anyone can throw some light into my above queries so that I can understand the process clearly.
    Thanks & Regards
    Hawker

    Hi 32000 in the code is a 'safe' size smaller than the max available 32767, the loops purpose is to move through the entire thing in chunks that will be manageable in the limits of the data type.
    Btw; if you are in Oracle e-business suite then you can also use Oracle reports very simply to create XML output.
    If you have reports developer all you need to do is put raw sql (without any 'artifice' to create XML) in the report SQL and then set the reports output to XML in the program definition in Oracle e-business.
    best regards,
    Robert.

  • Creating page items from pl/sql procedure and using them on a page

    I have a page containing 2 select lists (P21_DEPARTMENTS and P21_DATE). Originally I added them as items that were "select list with submits". The problem is that based on the clearance level of the currently logged on user I only wanted the P21_DEPARTMENTS to be a select list if the user was an administrator. If however the user is not an admin then I want the page to have a hidden form field called P21_DEPARTMENTS that stores the user's department and has a label item that has the department name.
    There is also a report region that generates a table based on the department selected from the select list (if the user is an admin) or the value stored in the hidden form field if the user is not.
    My problem is that I cannot have both those items on the same page and use the HTML built-in authentication to determine which item should be rendered because I need to use the same ID for both items so that the stored procedure in my report region doesn't break. HTML does not permit items to share the same ID.
    I tried to circumvent the problem by creating a stored procedure that performs all of the item rendering in the procedure and uses "htp.p()" to output all of my HTML code. This solution would allow me to pass a parameter into the procedure informing me as to whether or not the user is an administrator. If the user is an administrator the procedure would use a conditional statement and render a select list. If not, the hidden form field and label option would be used instead.
    I finally got the stored procedure working perfectly. Now I am encountering the most bizarre thing. Since the "select list with submit" was not working (I used the same code that gets generated when I created other items using htmlDB's GUI) I decided to use a JavaScript function instead that gets triggered by the onChange event. I send along the value that is currently selected in the select list and in the function I set:
    location.href='http://www.myoraclesite.com/pls/htmldb/f?p=111:21:729740000000000000::NO::P21_DEPARTMENTS:1';
    In theory this should work. The problem is that it doesn't. The page reloads and the P21_DEPARTMENTS select list is not pre-selected.
    The only thing I can think of is that when htmlDB generates page items that you've created with it's own admin tool it assigns some internal guid or something as opposed to when someone tries to generate dynamic page items of their own from a pl/sql procedure it's like the application doesn't even know they exist.
    Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
    My only other solution would be to create a totally separate page (one for admin and another for non-admin). I would really like to avoid this.
    Thanks in advance.

    I would love to be able to generate my menus and
    various other items in my htmlDB applications in much
    the same way I can using ASP, PHP and Cold Fusion.
    Users should have the ability to write server-side
    code wherever they feel like it. The way htmlDB works
    right now I spend more time trying to figure out how
    to create simple effects and generate simple
    interfaces when I need to be building a portal. Ami - it's important to understand that HTML DB is not like other languages. Thus, trying to force concepts which are common in other languages into HTML DB will often result in more work.
    It's definitely worth the time to go over the HTML DB 2-day Developer, which can be found here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/htmldb/pdf/B14377_01.pdf
    I can build a portal using Classic ASP, C#, PHP or Cold
    Fusion in like 1/10 of the time that it takes me to
    build one using htmlDB. I understand that this is not
    meant for the hard-core programmer but no web
    programming application in today's day and age should
    prevent experts from getting under the hood.And I can build a Portal in HTML DB in 1/10 the time it will take me to do it in any other language. It's like anything else - proficiency comes with practice and work.
    As for getting under the hood, there is plenty of places you can do that with HTML DB. Keep in mind that HTML DB itself is an HTML DB application, so the limits on what you can build with HTML DB are virtually limitless.
    Sorry for the vent there. After spending the last 2
    days trying to figure out how to implement such a
    straightforward thing and now being informed that it
    can't be done kind of bugged me.I understand your frustration, as I've been there before. My rule for beginners is that if you are writing more than a line or two of code in the first week, you're doing something wrong. Stop, take a break, and then use the ample resources (including searching this forum) to help solve your problem. There are plenty of resources available for you to learn about HTML DB on the HTML DB home page: http://otn.oracle.com/htmldb
    Good luck,

  • Use PL/SQL procedure to guard against malformed CSV files before upload

    Hi all,
    In my CSV upload utility, I've implemented error checking procedures, but they are invoked only AFTER data has been uploaded to temp table. This doesn't catch the following sample scenarios:
    1. The CSV is malformed, with some rows shifted due to fields and separators missing here and there.
    2. User has chosen a wrong CSV to upload (most likely number of fields mismatch)
    I'm wondering if it is a good idea to have procedure to read in the CSV, scan each line, count the number of fields (null fields but with delimiters showing the field exist is ok) for each record. If every single record matches the required number of fields for that table, then the CSV is ok, and the insert from external table to temp table is allow. This will ensure at least the CSV file has a valid matrix size for the target table, but rest of error checking is left until after temp table is populated.
    One of my concerns is, I specify "missing field values are null" in the external table parameters, which is necessary since not all fields are required. Does this specification causes a row with missing trailing separators still considered valid? If so then the stored procedure must be programmed to omit such a case.
    What do you think? Many thanks.

    Hi, Cuauhtemoc Amox
    Thank you for your advice. I have set web adi  using PL SQL interface.
    I have decided to go futher
    i have a procedure like that
    procedure delete_old_data ( p_id in number, p_description in varchar2)
    as
    begin
                   begin
                   if g_flag ='N' then
                   delete from xx_test;
                    g_flag='Y';
                    else null;
                    end if;
                    end;
    insert into xx_test (p_id,p_descriptiom);
    end;
    G_FLAG is a global variable with default value ='N'  in my package. When web_adi upload
    first row from excel sheet, then procedure delete all data from table and change g_flag to 'Y'.
    All other rows uploads succesfully; it  works fine.
    But when user change data in excel sheet and try to upload second time. DELETE_OLD_DATA procedure doesnt work in proper way.
    I have found what problem is. when user use same template and try to upload data several times there is same SESSION_ID in database.
    i.e. g_flag ='Y' when user try to upload second time. But when user log off and create template again it is work properly.
    My question is: How i can different upload attempts? May be there is some id for each upload proccess.
    if i can use this ID in my procedure user will have opportunity to use same template.
    Thank you

    Is it possible to implement this?
    And how to show the error message from pl/sql procedure?
    Regards
    Murali.

    Hi,
    It is possible by using a method validator for the entity attribute.
    Create a transient attribute 'X'.
    In the validation section of the attribute to be validate, choose method validator.
    In the Error Message tab set error message as {0}.
    Below the value for tokentoken should source.X (X is the transient attribute name)
    In the java code of method validator, call the stored procedure and set the value of transient attribute X with the error message from SP.
    Use setX("ErrorMessage").

  • ORA-29855 - Error creating Spatial Index using a Stored Procedure

    Hi
    I am using Oracle 10gR2 database and I have written a stored procedure to create spatial index. But when i execute this function i get the following error message.
    ORA-29855: error occurred in the execution of ODCIINDEXCREATE routine
    ORA-13249: internal error in Spatial index: [mdidxrbd]
    ORA-13249: Error in Spatial index: index build failed

    The tables that i am passing are registered in metadata and I am able to create indexes directly in sql plus. But when i try to create using this stored procedure, it fails.
    it should be possible to create indexes using a generic function. Has any faced a similar problem?

    Hi,
    I am having a same error on Oracle 10gR2 database. When I execute the same statement in sqlplus, it works. But it gives this error when I call the procedure which has this create spatial index statement.

  • Retrieve online file as CSV via HTTPS using PL/SQL procedure

    Hi all,
    Situation:
    Server A (not ORACLE)_: accesed via URL, generates dynamically a CSV file and returns to the requestor.
    Server B (ORACLE)_: which runs the PL/SQL script. It is the requestor. Read the CSV and store it within ORACLE.
    (1) I want to connect from Server B (ORACLE) to an external URL via HTTPS which generates dynamically the CSV file. Subdomain.domain it is the Server A which contains this CSV file.
    https://dubdomain.domain/csv_generator.php?query=q1
    (2) This file is downloaded to the Server B (ORACLE). A PL/SQL script executed in this machine do the task.
    (3) After that, I load this CSV to an ORACLE table which a common CSV PL/SQL parser.
    Doubts:
    Is it possible to retrieve an online file (a CSV) dynamically created and hosted in a third party server (Not ORACLE) via HTTPS using a PL/SQL procedure executed in a ORACLE server? If the answer is yes, what technology could I use? Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Yago

    An CSV example in {message:id=10158148}.
    For https, two actions are needed in addition.
    Firstly, the certificate of the https web server needs to be loaded in an Oracle Wallet on your database server. The wallet will have a specific directory location on the server, and will be protected by a password.
    Secondly, the PL/SQL procedure making web call, needs to open the wallet (using <i>UTL_HTTP.set_wallet</i>) using the location and password. Example of that in {message:id=10820182}.
