  • Need advice for SAP installation on External  Hard disk

    Hi Gurus,
I have HP laptop with configuration of 512 MB RAM and 50 GB hard disk...i recently bought 250 GB segate external  hard disk for SAP installation...My doubt here is if i  install SAP in external hard disk and will it work properly if i connect my laptop?
    ur advice is much appreciated
    Regards
    Dinesh

    Hi Dinesh,
I have installed SAP on external harddisk.
    And it will work properly.
But i think you need to increase your RAM.
After installation, please keep in mind one thing.
You will have to attach your external harddisk before your machine starts, because your OS will be in internal harddisk, so SAP and oracel services won't be able to run without external hard-disk.
and in case you attach after system startup, please start all services.

  • I am confused by the installation step that requires you to create a bootable USB drive for windows installation.  What is the ISO image and why has it selected my Passport backup drive as the destination disc?

In the bootcamp installation it asks me to create a bootable USB drive for Windows Installation.  To do so, I must choose an ISO image.  What is that?  When I click "choose" I don't understand the options presented.  Is this the destination of the partition or where Windows will reside on the Mac?  Why does it also indicate the the destination disk si my WD Passport Back up drive?

OK, so I have an apple superdrive hooked up to my mini (along with my Passport back up drive).  I also have  the discs for both 64bit and 32bit Windows along with the product key.  I am still not sure what to do when faced with the options after "choose".

  • Integration kit for SAP installation

    Dear All,
We have Ecc6 EHP5 server ( only ABAP instance not JAVA) installed also BW by default in same server we just create new client ( 300 as BW client ) from RSA1
    OS is Suse linux 11.
We installed Business objects EDGE 3.1 in different server which is also Suse Linux 11 server
and then installed client tools like Xcelsius , Crystal Reports etc in user Laptop which is base on windows xp.
now we installed Integration kit for SAP in the server where we installed  Business objects EDGE 3.1 ( in Suse linrux machine )
during installed of integration kit for SAP no input related to BW server because BOBJ connect to BW ( that is why we installed integration kit for SAP) and why we need java connector we don't have JAVA instance, and what to do next
    Regards
    Shahid

    Thanks Ingo Hilgefortfor your reply.
    My queries is
    1.    We have only abap instance , Java instance is mandatory for BOBJ ?
    2.    We installed BOBJ edge 3.1 in Linux server and in same server we installed Integration kit for SAP ( during the installation of
integration kit no input related to connected server ( BW server ) how to integrate BOBJ edge 3.1 with BW server) what
           Next ?
    3.   after installation of integration kit and import transport request in BW server ( which in actually act as client in ECC 6 server)
when we goto http://server:8080/CmcApp  then to Authentication  it shows enterprise and Ldap no SAP authentication I also
download java connector and place it ..../Tomcat/shared/lib/sapjco.jar ?

  • Creating second InfoView entry point for SAP users in XI 3.1

    Hi All,
I have BOE XI 3.1 up and running with the Business Objects Integration kit SAP Solutions kit I would like to create a second infoview entry point for SAP users on the same physical box (single server) as regular InfoView.
I am trying to mock this up and have detailed the following steps below.  I suspect I am missing a few steps (for example, where do I specify the entry port?).  I am sure step 2 is wrong, as I the desktoplaunch no longer exists in Xi 3.1
    1.  Copy the InfoView.war file to a new directory ( Program Files/Business Objects/ Business Objects Enterprise 12.0/java/applications/sap).  I imagine I would need to rename the war file (say SAPInfoview.war)?
    2.  Create a xml file with the following logic (the part in bold I consider to be wrong...):
    <Context docBase="Program Files\Business Objects\Business Objects Enterprise 12.0\java\applications\sap\SAPInfoview.war" path="/
    businessobjects/enterprise115/desktoplaunch"
    crossContext="false" debug="0" reloadable="false"
    trusted="false"/>
    3.  Save the xml file (what name? does it matter) in Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat55\conf\Catalina\localhost
    4.  Restart Tomcat
    5.  Change the web.xml to make SAP security the default.  But this should not be the regular infoview web.xml.  I'm not sure where this would reside.
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hi Ingo,
You've been working with Duncan and Sartaj on this.  The client has two set of users:  non HR which has no BW or R/3 authorization restrictions, and HR, which has authorization restrictions.
They have deployed SSO using AD for the non HR users.  They also want to leverage InfoView rather than the SAP portal.  For the HR users, we therefore need to capture the SAP id and password at login time to enforce security at the BW and R/3 levels.  We could use the existing Infoview entry point (SSO will fail and they will be prompted for a SAP login).  I do remember that we offered a second InfoView entry point for SAP users in XIR2.  I thought this may be more elegant.
    Thanks,
    Steve

  • Creating copies of mac office for 2008 installer

    Hi,
I bought a mac office for 2008 installer and it's good for 3 macs (3 genuine license keys). I was thinking of creating DVD copies of it so I have backups for the other macs where I will install it.
Is this possible? Can I just copy the contents of the mac installer. I'm slowly switching to mac and i'm not sure if the process is just the same as in windows.
    Thanks!

  • Store documents for SAP installations in Germany

    Hi All,
One of our clients has a single instance of SAP in Germany. It seems that according to the German VAT law we are NOT allowed to electronically store any documents such as invoices or credit notes on servers outside the European Union.
I wanted to check if this is true and if anyone has encountered a similar situation for SAP implementations on Germany and how did you deal with this scenario.
Any feedback/comments will be very helpful.

    > 1. How did you handle documnets that are physically stored in some other country but legally should be stored in Germany ?
You either mirror them, or give them their own instance to work on and mirror it back.
Another option is to use virtual companies, but in my experience that creates a mess and is not scalable (imagine all countries want this?).
    > 2. Can you please explain about the second point "export controls on encryption software", how is it usefull in this scenario.
It was a thought. I did not say that it would be effectively usefull. Basically, the authorities want to be able to do a "morning raid" if required and confiscate / copy the disks for investigation. That is why they want the hardware physically within their legislative area...
You can use encryption, but the keys (probably lots of them...) will be within legislative area as well, probably.
You will need to contact your DB vendor about that.
Possibly you can also contact the authorities and ask for an exception.
    Cheers,
    Julius

  • Cluster for SAP ERP 6.0

    Hi,
My enterprise plans to use SAP ERP 6.0. System will it is torn on a cluster from 2 nodes. As OS we plan to use Windows 2008 R2. For cluster development I use the document "Installation Guide SAP ERP 6.0 - EHP4 Ready ABAP on Windows: Oracle
(Based on SAP NetWeaver 7.0 including Enhancement Package 1) ".
In chapter 7.3.4"Installing the Central Services Instance for ABAP (ASCS)" for creation of cluster group it is underlined:
    k) Right-click the service and application SAP <SAPSID>.
    l) Choose Add a resource Add File Server.
    m) Double-click New File Server.
    n) In the New File Server Properties window, change the Resource Name from New File Server into SAP <SAPSID> FileServer.
Problems in that in the parameter list "Add File Server" in the menu "Add a resource" is not present. The server possesses such role, nevertheless "Add File Server" in the list misses.
How to me in that case to fulfill requirements on creation service and application SAP <SAPSID>?
P.S. All updates on ноды a cluster are installed
P.P.S Points of the instruction are carried out to k).
    Alex

    Hi,
I'm afraid that you have used Windows Server 2008 R2 which is yet to be supported by SAP ([Reference|https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=1383873]).
Check whether you have the cluster configured at the OS level and also check whether you are able to resolve the IP address of the cluster nodes from your virtual host.
If needed get help from your network admin and carry out the necessary checks for a clustered environment at the OS/network level.

    Hi,
Thnx a lot for the suggestion Markus
I have created the directories required.
The SAP installation has started, but now I am getting the message as below during the ORACLE DB Installation phase, when I run the Oracle ./RUNINSTALLER in Bash Unix:-
    [orasmd@SOLMAN SAP]$ ./RUNINSTALLER

    tmp_dbca_file is not set (OK)
    Working in /oracle/stage/102_64/database/SAP ...
The environment variable ORACLE_HOME is not set! abort ...
I have set the ORACLE_HOME env variable as below:-
    ORACLE_HOME=/oracle/SMD/102_64
    export ORACLE_HOME
But I get the same message again as above.
Do we need to set the ORACLE_HOME env variable in the BASH_PROFILE directly??? Coz I heard that if we set it with the Export command then the env is set only for the current instance and not permanently.
If so what is the exact entry I need to make in the BASH_PROFILE???

  • Is HAGEO supported for SAP Systems?

Could anyone enlighten me as to whether HAGEO (or HACMP/XD) is supported for SAP systems? I have a client who wishes to use this and believes it is fully supported. However, I have been unable to find any references to SAP systems running on HAGEO software.
The IBM competence centre has not so far deigned to respond to my call.
Does anyone know if it is supported/recommended or actually in use for SAP installations anywhere?
This provides essentially HACMP over a much further distance than normal HACMP.
We have proposed a simple HACMP cluster with mirrored disk to a second datacentre to provide DR, however our client thinks it will be cheaper to just have two systems, one in each datacentre, and linked by HAGEO.
I have my doubts but have no evidence to the contrary currently.
    Thanks
    Andy

For completeness, the ISCC (i.e. IBM) said (basically) don't do it. Use standby databases.
What they actually said was that it was a very complex issue and perhaps we should get lots of IBM consulting in to answer this very difficult question.
But i took the first answer as the likely outcome - don't do HAGEO or HACMP/XD with SAP systems.
    Andy.

  • Solaris Cluter 3.2 for SAP

    Hello All,
My SAP production environment needs to be running under Solaris Cluster 3.2. I am thinking of T5440 servers - 2 in number and StorageTek 6140. The agents available for SAP on Solaris Cluster 3.2 are:
Sun Cluster HA for SAP (failover or scalable).
Sun Cluster HA for SAP LiveCache (failover).
Sun Cluster HA for SAP Web Application Server (failover or scalable).
Sun Cluster HA for SAP DB (failover)
The ERP 6.0, EP 7.0, BI7.0 and Oracle HA DB needs to failover from one node to another.
My question is: What agents do I need to purchase for failing over the above the applications beside Sun Cluster HA for Oracle.
SAP vendor is asking me to provide three logical host names. The idea of Solaris 10 zones came into my mind.
Zones can be implemented with Sun Cluster 3.2 software in the global zone. That is, Sun Cluster 3.2 with zones enabled will be treated like physical nodes to be part of Sun Cluster Resource Groups. I feel it is best for those applications which are supported with containers and have a Sun Cluster agent but don't have the requirement of the zone itself failing over in case of a failure.
    Any suggestions will be helpful.
    Best Regards,
    Bruce

  • Reg: Replacing i-way with PI for SAP ECC 6.0 version

    Hello Experts
currently we are using R/3 4.7 version and middle ware we are using is i-way and we are planning to upgrade to ECC 6.0 and i would like to know how compatible is i-way is with SAP ECC 6.0 and is there any neccessity to replace the same with PI.
and currently we are using RFC as a method of communication between R/3 and i-way and in future i don't want to change the existing coding , is it feasible to use PI via RFC.
As i am ABAPer, i am new to this PI and please let me the know the risks involved and it is viability.

    Hi Gavin,
you should always use the SQL EE for SAP installations (because of additional features that only come with EE).
Concerning SQL 9 or SQL 10, I would definitely go for SQL 10. It has some nice features like Backup Compression, Page/Row Compression and so on. Have a look [here|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/60a236a2-8104-2b10-5ebe-8fef61cc82fd]. Just make sure that your installation meets the SR3 requirements.
We already have SQL 10 in production and did not encounter any problems.

    Sven
