Creating an Order Management Application

Hi,
I am about to undertake a project to create an order management program to take orders that will be entered by sales staff calling about 300 customers over the course of a week. I was planning on creating this using PHP with an oracle database as the backend, although after installing Oracle express I have found application express which I am now quite keen to use. I have a good knowledge of oracle and have used such things as oracle reports and forms, and I have only created basic applications in PHP.
My question is am I going to be best to stick with PHP or is application express a good route to go?
My only reservation about apex is the rather command line type manner that you have to use to lay it out, I’m thinking it is going to take a long time to get it looking nice.
Any feedback would be great!
Many thanks
Ed

You're making a good choice here :)
Could you describe what you mean by 'command line type manner'?
One thing I would say is that you shouldn't underuse the wizards. When I started with APEX I started build all forms and reports manually, but now use the wizards all the time to quickly and easy get a complete and nicely laid out forms.
In terms of aesthetics, the default APEX templates are also more attractive than anything I could ever create when hard coding web applications. Having said this, APEX gives you full control of your layout if you wish to acheive something non-standard.

• Procure-to-Pay Scenario. Create Purchase Order

Hello Experts: I have a question regarding the Procure-to-Pay scenario and the Create PO functionality.
we are in SRM 7.0, Classic Scenario and we try to implement the Procure-to-Pay functionality as it is described in OSS note 1263876 "SAP SRM: Configuration of Procure-to-Pay Scenario".
Our idea is to transfer Purchase Requisitions from ECC6 to SRM using the CPPR application. But we will also take advantage of the integration with MM provided with this scenario.
If you are familiar with this, you will already know that, using the harmonized role for operational purchaser (ERP/SRM) an end user can create Purchase Orders in the backend. Our question is related to this functionality.
Using this role, the buyer can select Purchasing Documents under the detailed navigation area and, from there, he will have access to create Shopping carts, Purchase requisitions, Purchase Orders and Purchase order responses.
If we select Create Purchase Order, the application "Purchase Order: New" gets opened. Here we have to select the system where we want to create the new PO: either SRM or ECC6. Our first question is: As we are running a Classic scenario, why are we asked to select between SRM and ECC6?. It should be only ECC6, shouldn't be?
In any case, the SRM systems gets selected by default when we open "Purchase Order: New" appl. and bellow this field, you can see the PO types customized in SRM. If we change the system to ECC6 we see the following: "Number of purchase order types: 0" . So, no PO types are available. this is the second question: why do we have 0 PO types to be created when we select the ECC6 system? is there a missing customizing where we have to define which document types are vaialable to create POs in ECC6 from SRM Portal?.
To summarize: only ECC6 should be proposed as system to create POs (as we are running a Classic Scenario) and there should be ECC6 PO types available to create such POs in the ECC6.
Can you please tell us what is still missing in our configuration? Any help will be more than welcome
Many thanks in advance for your valuable help
Best regards
Valentí

The purpose of MRP run is to make sure that you always have enough stock.
An order to cost center will not increase stock.
Means: MRP is not able to create requisitions for cost center consumption. If you change a requisition created by MRP to be ordered to a cost center, then the next MRP run will create a new requisition to stock.

• How To Create Sample Order Transformation Manager (OTM) Cartridge

Hi All,
I've been trying quite unsuccessfully to create a sample OTM cartridge.
I created a sample orchestration cartridge and it has 2 functions viz. Provisioning and FulfillBilling with a dependency from Provisioning to FulfillBilling inside a Fulfillment Pattern Service.Voice.
I created a sample model project with the design pattern and it created some default entities like actions and other stuff.
To begin with I created a Domain FixedLine in conceptual model. Then added a Product 'Voice_PS'. I create a CFS called 'Voice_CFS' under 'Voice_PS' with a primary relationship. I added coceptual fulfillment pattern 'Voice_FP' to product 'Voice_PS'.
After this I created MappingRule in which I kept everything as default as I did not create any Voice_PS parameters.
Then I create Order Item Parameter Bindings and that also I kept default as I didn't want to pick any parameters from order line Specification Group.
Then I invoked design pattern for Create Service Order. This gave me Transformation Sequence and in first stage I added simple Context Type for OLI parameter ProductSpec = 'Service.Voice'.
I am using the same Order Item Specification for both source and target transformation. For this I checked the "Support Distributed Order Template" checkbox.
I created the Transformation Manager and Mapped the domain and Transformation Sequence to it.
After this I marked the "Invoke Transformation Manager" in Orchestration process as checked and gave the provider function as Calculate Service Order.
I fired an order after configuring all this and I am getting following line in DEBUG log.
<22-Jan-2015 7:56:26,289 IST PM> <DEBUG> <transformation.OrderTransformationManager> <ExecuteThread: '14' for queue: 'oms.ws.http'> <OTM transform invoked with cartridgeId: 353, provider function: {OracleComms_Model_Base_Cartridge/1.0.0.0.0}Calculate_Service_Order, 3 order items>
However if I open the order I do not see the Transformed Order Items below Order Items in the left panel.
What am I doing wrong or missing here?
Also in "Property References" tab of Order Item Specification there is a field "Order Item Recognition Property" which I mapped to a property returning my original PSR entity which was Product entity "Voice_PS".
However I'm constantly getting this error for it.
<23-Jan-2015 10:12:35,832 IST AM> <WARN> <generation.XQueryEntityResolver> <ExecuteThread: '14' for queue: 'oms.ws.http'> <Can't find entity identified by namespace=COM_SalesOrderFulfillment; name=Voice_PS; type=T=OrderItemParameterSpecificationType@http://xmlns.oracle.com/communications/ordermanagement/model>
I am getting a feeling that OSM requires a non conceptual entity at this place but what that should be is what I'm not getting.
Any small help will be welcome as I'm really struggling for last 3 days.

Hi All,
After almost a month researching on how OTM is configured I was able to successfully create a cartridge with OTM.
The thing is Oracle has tried multiple things to make sure that you do not work on OTM without taking a training from Oracle University. However working for an Indian IT consulting company, training cost is something that all IT managers don't approve of. So now let me enlist 4 things that I was missing and which are very important for OTM configuration:-
1. One thing that was missing the entire time was productSpecMapping.xml with conceptual entities. This was achieved after making dependency of conceptual cartridge to fulfillment pattern cartridge and configuring realization and then building the entire workspace. Fulfillment pattern was derived from this mapping.
2. Even though DS is built such that all entities in workspace are available for configuration, however, when you are selecting realization inside OSM entities the conceptual entities are not visible. Only if you make a cartridge dependency of model conceptual cartridge to the OSM cartridge where you are configuring realization then only the conceptual entities start appearing.
So in my cartridge I was missing 2 realizations. One was the realization from conceptual fulmillment pattern entity to OSM fulfillment pattern entity. Second was realization from conceptual funcational area entity to OSM order entity.
3. The next thing that I configured and which was essential was "Common Model Entity Container". This tab appears on all catridge files of all projects. Basically this allows you to select the model project contributing to this project. As soon as I configured it OSM started detecting OrderItemParameterSpecificationType entities.
4. The wierdest configuration I found was this one. After trying the previous point I found that even though the entities are now getting created but still I was getting OrderItemSpecificationType entity not found. So I cheked in the cartridgeBuild folder to check what is created in backend before deployment. I found that for some reason it was not Voice_PS but Voice_PSSpec. So I started concatinating "Spec" to all product entities in the incoming order in OrderItemSpecification Order Item Recognition Property. Please note that my order item recognition property was not "Voice_PSSpec" but rather the "qualifiedName" value derived from the productSpecMapping.xml for the node with the attribute name value as "Voice_PS". For more information look at this post from me some time back. OSM 7.2.4 Cartridge
Lo and behold, my cartridge started recognizing OTM. However I had made some wrong configuration in Order Template for Transformed Order Items inside functions so I quickly corrected them and fired another order. This time I could see the order items and transformed order items. Phew! finally its working.
Now that I have spent sufficient time in this I would be happy to help those who are having trouble configuring OTM.
Regards,
Pranshu

• Creating orders via the Order Management API

Hi there,
we are wanting to use the Order Management API (within Oracle 11.5.4) as a means of integrating with our B2B website. I am thinking of creating a Java class that will talk to the Order Management API - pass it a list of products (amongst other variables) - create an order, and then retun that order's details to the clients browser - via the Java class. So my questions are specifically...
1) is this possible, and am i heading in the right direction?
2) where would i find more documentation on the Order Management API - i only have 1 doco so far and it isnt too clear
3) has anyone had any experience doing something similar, and if so - can you give me any examples, tips etc etc
Please reply to [email protected]
cheers,
matt lemsing

I've done it a couple of times. I hope you have some help, and I assume you'll have to use Customer (AR/CRM) APIs as well as the OM APIs. My suggestion is to make you java beans in small pieces, don't try to do it all in one class. As for displaying the order back to the screen, don't forget a view or SELECT statement can also be viewed as an API. Keep it simple, don't try to get tricky.

• What is order management?

what is order management?
is it a general term used for OTC cycle in SD or something else??
<REMOVED>

Hi
Below are details of Sales Order Management
Internet Sales
SAP Internet Sales (R/3 Edition) provides an e-commerce platform that enables SAP users to rapidly turn the Internet into a profitable sales and interaction channel. Internet Sales (R/3 Edition) offers everything customers need to sell products over the Internet: catalog browsing, product search, shopping basket, check-out, saving and retrieving shopping baskets, order status, and order history.
Field Sales
Mobile Sales for Handheld comprises a broad range of business applications to be processed offline on a mobile device, e.g., review customer information, take sales order via barcode scanning, create and/or modify sales orders, search for sales orders, and view a list of all materials.
Quotation and Order Management
Allows you to create and process orders, including pricing and scheduling order for fulfillment. SAP ERP supports many process variants, for example:
• Cash sales
 Ship-to-order
 Make-to-order
 Engineer-to-order
 Empties
 Batch processing
 Serial number processing
 Payment card processing
 Third-party delivery processing
 Complaint handling
 Returns
Inquiries
Allows you to create and process customer requests.
Quotations
Allows you to create and process quotations.
Follow-Up Order
Creates an order as follow-up document to the quotation. Copies the data from the quotation into the order and creates two transaction documents, quotation and order.
Automatic Partner Determination
Allows you to automatically determine the partners involved in the sales transaction, for example:
 Ship-to-party
 Bill-to-party
 Payer
 Contact person
 Employee responsible
Automatic Text Handling
Allows you to determine and maintain texts on header and item level.
Pricing & Tax
Allows you to automatically determine the different kinds of conditions, such as product-, customer- and contract- specific prices, free goods, surcharges, discharges, freights, taxes, etc.
Flexible Price Calculation:
Highly flexible engine to determine prices based on whatever criteria one might think of. (This needs to be part of the database.)
Price List:
Customer-specific price lists can be generated.
Tax calculation within SAP ERP allows you to calculate transaction taxes, such as VAT in Europe. For complex requirements regarding tax determination in the United States, third-party software can be integrated.
Payment Card Processing
Works with payment cards, such as credit cards. Copies payment card information from customer master data in orders and other sales documents.
Credit Management and Credit Check
Limits financial risks by carrying out credit checks that can influence transaction processing and setting up a workflow connection to notify responsible.
Credit check evaluates a transaction based on the credit standing of the payer in financial accounting.
Product Listing & Exclusion
Displays a list of products a specific customer is allowed or not allowed to buy.
Product Substitution
Enables the automatic substitution of products in sales documents during sales order processing according to flexible, predefined rules.
Free Goods
Offers free items on the sale of certain other items or takes money off a particular sale to a customer.
Minimum Order Quantity Check
Checks the product level automatically to determine whether a minimum order quantity has been reached.
Document Flow
Provides interlinkages of preceding and subsequent documents for a selected transaction (for example, production orders, deliveries, invoices, and complaints).
Regards
Ramesh

• OPM/Oracle Order Management

What are the pro's and con's of switching from OPM Order Fulfillment to Oracle Order Management?
We use Order Fulfillment now and are concern we will lose the profile functionality when and if we upgrade.

OPM Order Fulfillment is a simple to use Order Entry and Shipping application that meets the needs of many process manufacturers.
Oracle Order Management is more flexible and configurable to suit a number of different industries. Oracle Process Manufacturing is integrated
to Order Management and has functionality to support entry of order quantities in two units of measure, as well as designation
of a preferred quality grade and automatic allocation of process inventory.
In place of the Order Profile (or order template) functionality available in Order Fulfillment, we recommend using the Copy Order
functionality in Order Management. You can establish a special order type in Order Management (you can call it Template or
Profile) and assign a workflow to the order type that makes it "non-transactable" (the order stays in an "entered" state so that
it can't be booked or shipped). You can query on these special order types and copy them to create standard orders. When you
copy an order in Order Management, you can change the order type, so the Template order can be copied and the new order
type can be "Standard".

Error in the ABAP Application Program
The current ABAP program "SAPLKEAK" had to be terminated because it has
come across a statement that unfortunately cannot be executed.
What can you do?
Please eliminate the error by performing a syntax check
(or an extended program check) on the program "RK2LSFOC ".
You can also perform the syntax check from the ABAP Editor.
If the problem persists, proceed as follows:
Note down which actions and inputs caused the error.
To process the problem further, contact you SAP system
administrator.
Using Transaction ST22 for ABAP Dump Analysis, you can look
at and manage termination messages, and you can also
keep them for a long time.
