Creating book from iWeb Blog?

I have been going back and forth with a decision to create my blog using iWeb or blogger or other blog sites. I want to be able to publish my blog in a book format at some point as a way to archive for my kids. I have found blurb.com as a way to create a book with my blog on blogger, wordpress, typepad, etc. but is there a way to create a book from my blog if I use iWeb? Have any of you done this successfully? I don't want to put a lot of time into my blog on iWeb if I can't easily create a book out of it. Any ideas?

I have made many books from my blog pages. I created my own simple solution. I save the page as a PDF to Iphoto. I collect all of the pages, rotate them to their side, and create a wire-bound Apple book. This lets me maintain their 8.5 x 11" size (or similar), so the writing is clear. They just have to be read by paging through them like a tablet, so to speak.
**This solution worked really well with Tiger. I just upgraded to Leopard last night, and can't get them to print to PDF in the proper size for my book (They're too big).
I've posted a question, and am waiting for an answer. If you have Tiger still, this solution above should work though!

  • How to publish a BOOK from iWeb blog

During 2011 I kept a Blog in iWeb on me.com when my little 7 year old daughter was suffering from liver cancer. the Blog was read and commented by many people. I have been her Living Donor for the liver, and so far she is a "survivor" with sparks in her eys that represent "life".
We have had a lot of support from people that are close to us and I want to thank them all by "publishing" a book from the blog. I kept it on my Macbook wich also still has iWeb on it. I a 'just a user' and not a freak, so I do not have a clue if this is possible to do or just Wishfull thinking. I presume you can never get back to me.com, so the ' web counter' as well as 'feed back' might have been lost, but I sure want to publish this blog in a book. It would be a great gift to thos who supported us and other people that go through this as well, as well as for my little girl Joy, so when she is older she knows what she has been going throug. Is there anyone that could support in the steps I need to undertake to get this done?

To give you an idea what is possible, I used Chrome on my iPad and printed a webpage as pdf to Google Drive with Google Cloudprinter.
    This is the webpage :
    http://www.wyodor.net/mfi/cultureclub/Blog/Blog.html
    This is the result :
    http://www.wyodor.net/mfi/cultureclub/CultureClubBlog.pdf
BTW, you can merge pdf files in Preview.app :

Nice isn't it, all these technologies at your fingertips? And my fingertips were actually the only moving parts :)

  • "Create Book from Page" Question

In the Table of Contents Pod, I can right-click on a topic/page and select "Create Book from Page." When I do so, the resulting "book" is not selectable. I have to bring in the page again and place it below the "Book" title. This can't be right! What am I doing wrong, or what should I be doing?

Here's what I found as to how to associate a topic with the book:
You’ll have to create a topic to associate with that book. Here’s one way to do that:
Right click the book icon in the Table of Contents (TOC).
Point to New in the right-click menu. Then, click Page in the sub-menu that displays.
This places that topic in the level under that book. Now you just need to associate that topic with that book (so that when you click on the book, this topic displays).
Right-click the book icon again. This time select Properties in the right-click menu that displays. This displays the TOC Book Properties dialog.
Select the checkbox preceding Book with Link on this dialog. Now, scroll through the Existing Topics list to locate the topic you want to associate with that book. Click that topic in the list. Then, click OK on the dialog.
To see if your topic is now associated with your book:
Right-click the book icon. If options Edit Item and Preview topic display on the right-click menu, you have been successful in associating that topic with that book. By the way, once you have associated a topic with a book, you must right-click the book icon to view or edit that topic from the TOC pod. (Of course, you can always edit it directly using the Topic List or Project manager pods.)
But... (see the second bullet above) After I click "page" I think it wants me to select a page from the list of topics. When I select the proper page and continue through the process, the topic page is still below the Book title and the Book still isn't clickable!
It appears I'm doing something wrong on the association part, but I don't know what!

  • Creating Target links from iweb blog

how can i create a link that will open a new window and not navigate from my blog? iweb automatically inserts 'http://' and if i add a link like
'jack johson - do you remember'
iweb reads it as: http://<a href="http....
this option should be a must have for any blog software. so how can i do it in iweb??

    Welcome to the discussions, tcameron.
Right now, there's no way to do this from within iWeb, though if you know how to edit the HTML, you can always change it on the server.

  • Can I create a hard-copy book from iWeb?

I have a blog I created in iWeb and want to make a hard copy book out of the pages?  Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this?  Thanks!

  • Please help with creating more diverse iweb blog entries

I have a blog about sports memorabilia that I use iweb for: http://www.hoopography.com. I have come to a road block in creating blog entries. I have two issues:
1.) I would like to include more than one image for each blog. I tried to just add images and wrap text around when I create the entry in iWeb, but the images do not show up on the homepage where the blog section is located. I'm assuming I need more than one "place holder", but I have not been able to add more than one. Here is an example of another blog that has multiple images for one entry. Essentially, what I am trying to accomplish: http://offysports.blogspot.com/
2.) I would like to add YouTube videos so that they not only appear in the individual entry, but also on the homepage where the blog section is located (Otherwise, visitors to the site need to click on the entry to even realize the image is a video. I would like readers to be able to play it right on the homepage.). I have tried to use the "YouTube Widget" to add the videos when working on the entry in iWeb, but the video appears as a still image on the homepage's blog section.
I have some knowledge of iWeb and Macs. I have been using a Mac and iWeb to work on this blog for about 6 months now, but these 2 problems have stumped and constrained me and the blog. Please help!!!!!! Thanks You.

I tuned the Place holder into a YouTube Video Widget, and it does display on the homepage, but it does not display as a video. It displays as a still image that the reader has to click on to access the entry and then play the video in the entry instead of playing right on the homepage.
For the multiple images, are you saying that I can only have one placeholder? I do not follow. I want multiple placeholders for multiple images throughout the single entry (ex: http://offysports.blogspot.com/2010/05/2009-10-panini-studio-basketball.html)
    Thanks

  • Printing book from iWeb posting

I have several hundred images posted on my iWeb site associated with two dozen entries or write-ups. Now, I'd like to a printed copy of my web site, in book form. Is there an easy way to do this?
I'm familiar with using Shutterfly, Ofoto, etc. but would like to avoid the laborious process of transferring 300 photos, one at a time, into an ibook format scheme. I'd be happy to accept a common format throughout the book (e.g., same number/arrangement of images per page).
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    mbkblack

I don't think there is a way to directly print your images out from your iWeb page. The resolution of the images on the web page are much smaller than your original images anyway, so it probably would not lead to very high quality prints.

  • Possible to move Blog entry w/ comments from one blog to another?

Is it possible to take a blog entry and comments from (iWeb) Blog #1 and put them into (iWeb) Blog #2? I can see how moving the pictures and text would be easy......... but I also see that moving Comments might be a No-No.
    Lorna in Southern California

    Hi Lorna
well I did it just last night. I copied and pasted and the page is still fully functional.
I don't know what the "experts" would say but ya can't get much more "hands on expert" than the fact that I just did it and it worked.
I made a page below my blog in iWeb. Then I just copied & pasted to the new one. I had to adjust on the page (move to fit for the new format) and I had to rename the "entries." Then I deleted the old blog and renamed the new one in iweb.

  • Create book file on basis of txt file with local paths?

I would like to be able to create a book file in FrameMaker 7 or FrameMaker 9 on the basis of a  .txt file reading for instance:
    c:/documents/job.fm
    c:/documents/15ss.fm
    c:/documents/sdf/job1.fm
Preferrably I would like to be able to paste the lines into a prompt and have a script compiling the book file.
Is it possible to write a script using FrameMakers API which would do this trick? It is probably possible to use FrameScript but I am not too keen on FrameScript and would rather avoid it.
Who should one ask in order to have such a thing written?
    regards

I started using FrameMaker in release 2.x, while I was using x-roff on UNIX; x-roff used a "makefile" to create books from independent chapters, doing all the pagination, numbering, etc. I suspected that FrameMaker's book file worked like that, but it wasn't until many years later that I met someone who'd worked with FrameMaker version 1.x, who confirmed my suspicion.
Although I can't tell you how to do it, I'm certain that it can be programmed as you want, and that someone will post more information.

  • How do I move my blog posts from iWeb to Wordpress?

I want to move all my blog posts from iWeb to Wordpress. Is that possible and how?

Depending on how many posts you have, it may be best to copy and paste them into Wordpress. I don't know for sure, but I dought if there is any process that will do that automatically for you. I would have your iWeb blog (edit Mode) window open and then Create a new blog in Wordpress. Copy the iWeb title/paste into Wordpress - Copy the iWeb blog text/paste into Wordpress. It should go fast once you get the first one done because you'll do the same for all.  Hope that helps.

  • IWeb blogging from mobile devices

I know this has been discussed before, but I think that the arrival of the iPad means that it's time to push it to the front again:
I have a personal homepage that has been created with iWeb on a Mac and is stored on my MobileMe account. This homepage contains a blog, which I usually use when I travel (instead of sending postcards). I used to take my MBP with me when traveling, but will probably switch to the iPad now. Unfortunately, this means that I have to switch the blog for a Wordpress based one, since there still is no way I can blog in iWeb/MobileMe from any other place than my MBP.
Apple: For a "Mobile" company that is a bit embarrassing. Since there already are apps that directly access content on MobileMe, I cannot imagine what the difficulty can be in creating a simple app people could use to blog from the iPhone or iPad. So, please, provide us with such an app and spare us the bag of pain that including a Wordpress blog in iWeb is.
Maybe, if a few people support this request, Apple could spare somebody who could probably program such an app within a few days.

    Welcome to the discussions.

You can link to an external blog from iWeb's navigation bar:
Create a blank internal page titled "Blog" (actually you can name the page whatever you want.) Then in that Blog page add an HTML Snippet with the following code:
    <script type="text/javascript">
parent.window.location = "http://www.yourblogname.com"; // change this to your own URL
    </script>
...Once published, clicking on "Blog" in the navbar will immediately redirect to your external Blog page. (Thanks to Cyclosaurus for the code).

  • "sharing" pages from an iphoto book to iweb

Hi - I am trying to take pages of my photo book from iphoto and publish them to my website. Whenever I try to 'share' these pages (share-send to iweb-photo page) the photo page part is greyed out. It will only allow me to do it with one picture not a page from my book.
    thank you!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Follow steps #1 and #2 of this tutorial: #6 - Creating an iDVD Slideshow From an iPhoto Book.
Then you can get something like this: iPhoto Book as an iWeb Slideshow.

  • Using native iWeb to create an index of blog entries

While not entirely what I had in mind, by linking together pages that themselves have internal links to my blog entries, I have created a passable blog index. My site is still new, but as I blog more material, I wanted a way to group the pages by categories. The top down blog archive that is provided out of the box was just not going to work for me.
This approach has an added benefit. Since the pages from the index are linked via html, the blog pages can be found via the google sitecrawler engines. (note my home page directory is also html rather than the native iWeb index). I use a sitemap already, so this feature is not terribly important to me. But it might help you if you haven't sorted out sitemaps yet.
This does require that I update the index page(s) every time I add a blog entry.
Hope you guys find this useful.

Terry ~ You followed Nitsa's apparently good example on hosting, but not on blogging — she uses WordPress rather than iWeb:
    http://nonphotography.com/blog
...Problems with iWeb's blog are a recurring theme on these discussions as it's not a serious blogging platform. And with multiple iWeb blogs within your site, you're multiplying your chances of having problems. Also, as you add entries to your blog(s), opening your site in iWeb and backing up its Domain file will become slower and slower. Plus, when you eventually have to re-publish your entire iWeb site, you may have a long wait for the upload to finish.
The following old thread was started by someone who suspected iWeb's blog would not be robust enough and, like Nitsa, wisely built their blog in WordPress:
_To blog or not to blog_
As mentioned there, some of WordPress's themes provide tabs — which you could use to categorize posts, e.g.
    http://mistylook.org
And as an alternative to setting up a basic hyperlink to your external blog, there's a way to link to it from iWeb's navigation bar.

  • Iweb blog to book?

Is anything available yet to take my iweb blog entries & print them off in book form?
    I have iweb version 3.0.4

No.  That's not an option in iWeb.  You'll have to copy and paste each page of your blog into whatever document you choose for creating the book.

  • How can i create a photo book from 2 libraries easily?

    This is my situation.
I want to create a photo album of my child for the past year for parents/grandparents etc from the photos on mine AND my wifes macbooks. Before iphoto 9.5 i would simply look at her shared library from my iPhoto and use hers and my photos to make a book.
Now there is no shared library in 9.5, so after doing my homework on how apple wants us to do this now, I started a shared iCloud photostream ('kid' 2013) and invited my wife to it. I started adding photos from my library, and she did the same. All good i thought, but no. Becasue the photo stream only sorts by 'date added' not date taken, and in fact I cannot even see the date the photo was taken in the photostream, it means making a chronological photo book from both our photo libraries has now been made impossible.
Anybody got any other ways to do this?

Create an album, and then select all photos in the Shared Photo Sream and add them to the album. In the album you can see the dates of the photos in the Info panel. Then sort your album by date, and create the Photo Book from the album, not directly from the shared stream.
