Creating bookmarks in LabVIEW

Is there a way to create a bookmark in LabVIEW?
I have a kludge thats a dummy VI named Bookmark.vi. I've written a script so that I can push my F1 key, and the script sends keystrokes to use LabVIEW's "Find" ability to zoom right to wherever I place Bookmark.vi.
Is there a more natural bookmarking ability built into LabVIEW, or a better way to do this?

This works in Windows only. I wrote this using AutoIt, some Windows scripting freeware you can Google. Here's a rather alpha version with the following limitations and instructions:
* Create a keyboard shortcut to the attached executable file (or .au3 file if you have AutoIt on your computer). The only way I know how to do this is to create a shortcut to the file on your desktop, then at some hotkeys through the shortcut's Properties window.
* This version requires that a LabVIEW front panel or block diagram is the active Window, and that the windows title is the same as the name of the VI. These restrictions could be removed with some editing of that .au3 file, which I may do at some point.
* After you hit the hot key, don't move your mouse until the bookmark is found. I'm not sure if this is fixable.
* The attached file "Bookmark.vi" should go in LabVIEW's user.lib folder. Reboot LabVIEW so it shows up in LabVIEW's "User Controls" menu. There is nothing special about "Bookmark.vi" except its bookmark-looking icon. It does nothing.
* The work "Get" is spelled "Git" in the title so my Arkansas coworker could understand it.

Does the file you are writing have a timestamp in it?  If so you could read the timestamp from the last time it was written and see if the day has changed, handling the name of the file appropriately.  The easiest way to record the timestamp is probably to write the timestamp as the number of seconds that have elapsed since 12:00 am on Firday January 1st 1904 in UT.  The "Get Date/Time in Seconds" function will give you this value.

  • Acrobat Pro 7 quits when creating bookmarks

I can only go up to Acrobat 7 on my Mac unless I upgrade from OS 10.3.9. PDFs create fine. Create bookmark by highlighting text and hit command-b. Repeat a few times. Save document and Acrobat quits. Original document is Word 2004 for Mac 11.5.0. I suspect Acrobat doesn't like the hidden TOC data in the headings I am using for bookmarks. BUT, this never happened with Distiller 4.0, the last version I used extensively. Anybody got a fix? I have a 1GHz G4 eMac with 768MB ram.

Evidently I mispoke, it works on 10.4. I thought I had been using it on X.3.9.Because I have one hard drive  that use X.3.9. Ther are some updates to 7.0 though. Make sure you your using the most up to date version.  Sorry for misleading you.

  • How to create bookmarks in adobe reader 9

In adobe reader 7 you could create bookmarks so the viewer could click on them and go to that section of the document. I cannot seem to find it on version 9. All you can do is create thumbnails. Any ideas on how to create bookmarks in the newest version?

Adobe Reader can't create bookmarks. Adobe Acrobat can create bookmarks.

  • Creating Website in LABVIEW

Hello,I want to learn creating websites in labview.I have no knowlege of creating website in html or php.So anyone can please help me with the same.
    Thank You.

When you say create a web site, do you mean that you want to create a "standard" set of pages? Or post a VI on the web? Or have some sort of interactive control through a web interface. These are all different things and will have different answers.
If you are looking at creating "standard" set of pages, everyone else that posted is correct in saying that LabVIEW is not really a good fit and you will be better off using something else (even just notepad and a manual) to build your site.
If you are looking at posting a VI or creating an interactive VI for control, LabVIEW can do that and do it well.
So, could you please be more specific?

  • Creating Bookmarks in Livecycle Designer 7.1

    Greetings All,
Is it possible to create bookmarks in Livecycle Designer 7.1 and link it to pages, sections within pages and text fields. If it is possible, could anyone show how to do that, provide examples or a reference on how to do that. Appreciated your help.
    Thanks.

    Hi Muhammad,
I am not sure about availability of bookmarks in LiveCycle Designer 7.1. But you have setFocus method available in designer. This method you can use to set the cursor position.
    Syntax for this method is:
    xfa.host.setFocus("xfa[0].form[0].form1[0].#subform[2].TextField2[0]");

  • Creating Bookmarks in PDF Output

I am going to be exporting my final InDesign document to PDF. I need to create bookmarks for the document because they are used to access topics in online help. I've attempted to do this by selecting Bookmarks in the export settings, with no results. I am not sure how to get headings in my InDesign document to appear in PDF output as bookmarks. Is there such a thing as a heading style in InDesign, as in FrameMaker and Word? Does anyone have experience doing this? I really need to know how to do it. Thanks.
    Best wishes,
    Tony

The TOC uses only the headers that appear at the top of each page. How doI get the headings and subheadings throughout the document to appear as bookmarks in PDF?
A TOC will include whatever you tell it to include.
Right. Any paragraph-styled text can be extracted to TOC/bookmarks.
The functionality you want is there, but your statements demonstrate that you've assumed limitations that aren't. They also demonstrate that you're not clueless. Look just a bit deeper.

  • Creating bookmarks in a PDF file

I know that Adobe Acrobat Professional has the ability to create bookmarks in PDF files. Is there another maybe free solution that I could use to create bookmarks in PDF files? I need to be able to post PDF files on my web site that have bookmarks in them so that users can quickly go to a specific page.
Looking forward to alternatives that I may be able to use.

Aw man, I didn't know that. But you're right. It doesn't cause Save to be available and they don't show up in Acrobat Reader. That's lame.
I never looked into that before because I have Acrobat.

  • How do I create Bookmarks in LiveCycle Designer?

I've created a fillable form using Adobe Live 8 Pro, I distribute the form using Acrobat. I haven't found a way to create bookmarks in LiveCycle so I create them using Acrobat first before I distribute the form...Is there another way?
The problem I'm running into with this approach is that I cannot auto-enable the bookmarks when the PDF is opened because File > Properties > Initial View is disabled.
So given that I've created a form using Adobe Live, what do I have to do to get bookmarks to launch in the initial view?
Does anyone out there know how to do this?
    thanks in advance.
    Jon

Thanks. I have a Mac and had to do one more step, which was to go to the top line of symbols, click on the cog wheel (organize bookmarks) and then select "new folder." You got me in the right place to start looking.

  • Create installer without labview

    Hi,
Is it possible to create an installer without LabVIEW? I am supporting Windows 2000 through 7 and the versions of NI software varies with each OS, specifically when dealing with oscilloscopes running Windows due to VISA conflicts.
The two main problems I have with creating installers with LabVIEW (Application Builder):
    1) Windows 2000 requires the Product Framework before 2.8.0. This makes it impossible for installers to run on Windows 2000 that require product installation newer than 2.8.0 which is basically every installation for Windows 7.
    2) As far as I am aware, the required software has to be installed on a local machine first before creating an installer. Then you navigate to the Additional Installers section when creating an installer to add to the installation. The location path will point to the orignal CD drive or location it was installed from on the local drive. I don't see why this required. Why can the installer be created directly from the extracted files without it being installed on machine?
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Wow guys, thanks for two blatent insults. If you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all.
    A little further explaination:
Supporting and maintaining Windows 2000 in 2014, I agree, is cumbersome. However, you have to realize these oscilloscopes that run Windows 2000 in 2014 still cost upwards of $8,000 to replace and the operating system cannot be upgraded. Why do they still cost so much? Because they are very useful tools. And new ones cost $20,000 to $30,000. I don't think that this effort is "los[ing] [the company's] ability to make a profit".
For those of you that are interested in the orignal question posted here is my solution.
I used SFX Builder (http://sourceforge.net/projects/s-zipsfxbuilder/) to bundle NI's software into a single executeable file. Heres the steps:
    1) Download all necessary NI software
    2) Download SFX Builder
    3) Download 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.org/)
    1) Extract all NI software into a single folder and use 7-zip to compress into a .7z archive
    2) Open SFX Builder and add the .7z archive to the File tab
    3) You can easily set the path of extraction to anywhere on the computer, the temp (%temp%) is the most useful
    4) On the Tasks tab click the add/plus button and select Run Program, then enter the path where the extraction happened, here is an example
    5) Easy peasy!

  • Creating Bookmarkable URLs - two or more parameters

I followed the tutorial "Creating Bookmarkable URLs" and I was able to pass 1 parameter OK with values from a database. I don't know the syntax for multiple parameters, though, when using the IDE Design view. I really would like to have bookmarkable URLs using multiple parameters.
In the url property for the group of hyperlinks, I tried:
    /faces/Report.jsp?testableentityconfigId=#{currentRow.value['testableentityconfig.testableEntityConfigID']}&modelId=#{currentRow.value['device.deviceModelID']}
When I run the program, the url in the address bar looks like this:
    /Reporting/faces/Report.jsp?testableentityconfigId=%23%7BcurrentRow.value%5B'testableentityconfig.testableEntityConfigID'%5D%7D&%3BmodelId=5
The desired output would look like this:
    /Reporting/faces/Report.jsp?testableentityconfigId=2&modelId=5

I tried it (using the TRAVEL FLIGHT table) and it worked for me.
My url property setting in the Properties window looks like this:
    /faces/Details.jsp?flightId=#{currentRow.value['FLIGHT.FLIGHTID']}&tripId=#{currentRow.value['FLIGHT.TRIPID']}My JSP looks like this:
    <webuijsf:hyperlink binding="#{Page1.hyperlink1}" id="hyperlink1" text="text" url="/faces/Details.jsp?flightId=#{currentRow.value['FLIGHT.FLIGHTID']}&tripId=#{currentRow.value['FLIGHT.TRIPID']}"/>
