Creating dimension with several LTS problem

Good morning fellow experts,
I've hit the following issue - I have two dim tables that I have no problem using separately, however, I want to merge them into 1 dimension for better drill-down capability. Here's the structure:
Table1 "Geo Dim" fields: location_id (Primary key), Country, State, City, Zip, Address, Name (lowest level)
Table2 "Buildings Dim" fields: building_id (Primary Key), location_id (could be FK to Table 1), Building Name
Fact table has building_id as FK
The goal is to be able to drill from Country to Individual Building. I also know that ideal variant is to create a view and merge the 2 dim tables, however, I'm doing a POC incorporating snowflake. I used this wonderful link (courtesy of Adrian Ward) http://majendi.blogspot.com/2009/01/obiee-snowflakes-and-stars-part-3.html as a guidance, however, I hit some problems. My question is - what's the proper way to model it in physical layer. Here's how I've currently designed it:
Physical:
Fact >-- (building_id key) Buildings >-- (location_id key) Geo
Logical Star:
Fact (with fact LTS) >--complex join Building_Geo
Building_Geo has 1 LTS with 2 mapped tables. A custom hierarchy is built. Logical key is building_id. Should I use 2 LTS instead of 1 and set hierarchy levels to a) building b) geo ?
Can someone point me as to what's wrong in this schema? It's resembling Header-Detail a lot - and I'm sensing that I'm just missing a small piece somewhere. Thanks

My first solution started to work once I created/defined all hierarchical keys (simply dragging them wasn't enough and I missed that) . BI had no problem with single LTS for 2 mapped tables and generating correct sql. So, just a follow-up question - how does dimensional hierarchy behave in BMM if you don't define keys (I'd guess it'd throw a RPD consistency error). Also, Mma, do you think such schema would work when more dims would get thrown in? Also, except for circular joins - what other pitfalls might be there?
Physical:
Fact >-- (building_id key) Buildings >-- (location_id key) Geo
Logical Star:
Fact (with fact LTS) >--complex join Building_Geo

    What version of the database and AWM are you using? The failure on the <Classification> tag suggests that you may have database version 11.1.0.6. If so, then I recommend that you upgrade the server to at least version 11.1.0.7.

  • Someone help me with severe iTunes problems?

    I am running the latest version of iTunes on my computer running Windows 7. Since November 2010, I have been unable to purchase anything, I have been unable to update my iPod touch 3rd generation, and I have been unable to sync, etc etc. The second I open up iTunes, I get a "duplicate file name specified" pop-up. This same pop-up happens when I plug in my iPod. And it happens again when I try to buy anything. I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, I have tried installing previous versions, EVERYTHING. I have also contacted Apple Support via email multiple times. Finally, around my FIFTH time contacting them, they said I could restore my iPod to factory settings and start all over, and they would make every purchase I have ever had available for download again. Sure, they were made available for download again, but what error did I get when I tried to download them? Duplicate file name specified. So I never restored to factory settings. I've been relying on an outdated iTunes store on my iPod itself to buy anything. Please, I know I wrote a lot but if ANYONE has any help they could give me, I'd really like to be able to have a functioning iTunes and iPod touch again!

    I am also having this same problem on Windows7 Ultimate. I have completely removed my Music Library to make sure that was not the problem. I have uninstalled all Apple applications from my computer. I have re-installed my original version of iTunes (10.5.2.11) and finally I unistalled that and reinstalled the latest iTunes (10.5.3) and I still receive the "A duplicate file name has been specified".  It does not stop me from playing my library. But, as Aidan said it does stop me from purchasing from iTunes Store.
    Has anyone found a fix for this?

    I followed your directions and closed all open files including "spySweeper" and "Norton". I went to "run" and entered %appdata% and
    deleted "Adobe" NOTE: there was another file titled AdobeUM which I did not delete. I opened Adobe Elements and went to File->New

    machine several times and also triggered the same error even after
    resaving the images using the "Save for Web" function.

    2. Click on Start > Run.

    Photoshop Elements that you immediately get the errors:

    Currently, it has been determined to be image specific and isolated to
    problems processing the metadata in some images.

    Adobe Support Portal so that they can be examined.
    Fortunately, we also do have a potential workaround that may allow you
    to merge your images.

    1. Open your images in Photoshop Elements Editor.
    2. Save each one using the "Save for Web" command available in the File
    menu in JPG format with the quality set to "High".
    [This will remove all metadata from the images]
    3. Close Photoshop Elements Editor and all open images.

    I understand that when you try to use the Panorama function in Elements,
    you receive a message “unable to create window.”
    Does this problem happen when you are trying to merge specific images or
    does it happen with all images?
    What size are the images you are trying to merge? What dimensions, dots
    per inch, and file type are the images?
    How many images are you trying to merge? Do you have the same problem
    if you try merging just two images?
    Make sure when you are going to do the photomerge that any extra
    programs are closed. The merging process is rather memory intensive so
    the less programs running at once, the better.
    Try to resize each of the photos to a smaller size, and then retry the
    command.
    If you receive the error when saving a panorama, try flattening the file
    (use the Layer>Flatten Image command), or save the panorama in the
    smaller, JPEG format.

    When I try to use the panaroama function I get this message

    I have tried all the solutions from the forum and they do not work. I even bought a new copy of the program, but no luck.
    The function worked before and then stoped working (I had a downloaded version of release 7) That prompted me to buy the new copy A

    I have recently started having this problem in PSE8. The Adobe workaround
    did work, but I don't fancy having to re register each time I use it.
    What I have discovered is that it's nothing to do with the image metadata as it occurs before any image is opened.
    It SEEMS to only occur if you use file/open with to open an image in the editor - IE start PSE with that command.
    If you close elements down, and start it using programs/PSE/Elements (or your desktop shortcut) - the panorama feature magically works.
    Each time I've opened the editor 'automatically' using image/open with, it seems to create the problem.

  • Date of creation problem after making Bridge create TIFs with PS Image Processor.

    I went through about 100 files and did what I wanted in Camera RAW (started out with NEFs). Thereafter I had Bridge make TIFs of all the files in the folder using the PS Image Processor.
    Now, looking at the TIF folder in Bridge, I find that about 80 of them has a wrong creation date (I checked the Preferences and I have asked for the date of creation - and not the date of modification). As I watch (several minutes) Bridge changes some of the dates to the ones known to me to be correct - but not all. If I close Bridge, restart Bridge and open the folder again the same happens, i.e. it starts all over. Even stranger is that the Windows Pathfinder have problems with the same files - i.e. does not show the date of creation at all.
    The date of these 80 files are all the same - and they have been edited over several days!
    I have done a lot of work on those files and would hate to start all over. I checked and of course the dates are the original in the RAW folder that I started out with.
    I am sure that I do not have any bugs in my PC.
    Can I remedy this i any way? I hate to have wrong dates on my files.
    What can I have done to cause this? Can anyone help me? Thanking You in advance.

    Yes, I have also purged the cache. More than once and again this morning. It does not change the result. Bridge still goes from the date January 13th 2013 to the correct date of creation when I look at the separate thumbnails - and back again when I scroll down the page and subsequently scroll up again!
    Thus it seems that Bridge knows the date that the camera set but somehow this foolish January date keeps coming back.
    All the folders with NEFs have correct dates - also the ones where I have imported the files from camera to pc in 2013! Only my TIFFs have this problem.
    Rigth now I am having Norton 360 run a complete system scan. When that is done I will inactivate Norton (I know that I cannot have 2 antivirus softwares and firewalls run simultaneously on the PC) and instead run a complete scan with Lavasoft Adaware Pro. I have also used Norton Utilities and found no problems. Plus Malwarebytes Antimalware and Superantispyware. No problems.
    If "date file created" is the date that the file was modified, it would not help me much. I often go back to a file and play with it again and if I have understood correctly, then this date would change again. I want to see the date of capture ("date created"). Also, by now the problem afflicts at least 1000 files. It would be impossible to do single file manual corrections of dates on so many files.
    Update: While I have been writing this, an opened folder with only 36 files has changed the dates to the correct date of capture. I could also scroll up and down without the dates changíng in this small folder. But when I closed Bridge, restarted it and looked at the folder again Bridge again did need minutes to get all the dates rigth. Maybe I have a pc capacity problem instead of a software problem? But why on earth would this specific wrong date result from a too weak pc.?
    Maybe I should just give up and reinstall PS?

  • How to create a dimension with one level

    I created a cube with some dimensions, that have only a level, and this kind of dimensions bring me some problems when I want to use "OracleBI Spreadsheet Add-In" to consult the cube.
    The problem is that I can’t create a hierarchy with only a level, so the dimensions are created without a hierarchy.
    When I make a query in the “Query Builder” of "OracleBI Spreadsheet Add-In", I have some problems in the step of choosing what levels I want to select for a determined dimension, if that dimension is a dimension without a hierarchy.
    What really happens is that, I can see all the values for the level in the left box, but I don’t achieve to put one of these values on the right box. I can click in the next button, to jump to the next dimension, and all the process of selection for the other dimensions occurs without problems, except for the dimensions that haven’t a hierarchy.
    If I select only dimensions that have a hierarchy, all works perfectly, but if I select one or more dimensions that don’t have a hierarchy, the following problems occur:
    => I can’t select the values of the level that I want to see (only for dimensions that don’t have a hierarchy)
    => When I click in “end” button of the “Query Builder”, it doesn’t finish and blocks.
    The solution is to create a hierarchy, but I can’t create a hierarchy with only a level. Is it possible to create a “top level” without a source column in the dimension table? So I will have two levels, and with these two levels I can create a hierarchy that resolves the problem.
    What is the solution for this problem?

    I don’t want to use the CWM2 PL/SQL packages, because with these packages I only can create MOLAP cubes.
    I only want to create ROLAP cubes, but I can't create a hierarchy with one level.
    Why the "OracleBI Spreadsheet Add-In" doesn’t work with dimensions, that not have hierarchies?
    How I can resolve this BIG problem?

    Hello everybody,
    I am trying with no success to create a Time Dimension (with the wizard it would be easier...) with a working day or holiday attribute (0 or 1) to be able to calculate measures only on working time !!! I am totally sure it's possible, obviously, but I found nothing on forums... Could you help me ??
    I use OWB 11g, I need all fiscal year/quarter/month/week and all calendar year/quarter/month/week attributes so without any wizard it would be quite impossible... thank you for your help !
    NB: of course I know how to define if a day is a working one or not, but I currently can't add any columns in Time dim created with wizard...

    I did several tests this morning.
    First of all, i've tried with time_from = 000000 and time_to = 235959 (23:59:59 CET) and the activity has been created with Time From = 04:00:00 and Time To = 03:59:59
    Strange no ??
    I've also tried with 230000 for time from and time to but the activity has been created with Time From = 03:00:00 and Time to = 03:00:00
    I cannot understand the logic behind....

    at level attribute dialogue box it show a id attribute i think that is uinque but i want to ask whts the purpose of this id. lets i have a column src_id in my source table
    should i map this column with this attribute or should i crate a new column targ_id and map source column with this targ clmn. if i do this maping so whats the purpose of uk id. what should do with it/

    You are getting duplicate names. YOu need to prefix or suffix (or sql concatinate) to make the members unique. in the record 1 example you might want the outpout to look like
    Product line 1 Group 2 subgroup 3 Product family 10 product 10 sku 171
    Of course I used full names to make it undersatandable, some would use one, two or three letter abrevaitions.

    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
    Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

Apart from details, I've got one main table, that holds the tree structure of the content ("resources") and several other tables that contain data of a particular datatype ("documents", "images", etc.). Now, there's one-to-many relationship between "resources" table and all the datatype tables - that is, in the "resources" table there's "resource_id" column, being a foreign key referenced to the "id" columns in the datatype tables.
    The problem is that this design is deficient. I can't tell form the "resource_id" column from which datatype table to get the data. It seems to me that one-to-many relationship only works with two tables. If the data on the one side of the relationship is contained in several tables, problems arise.
    Anybody knows a solution? I would be obliged.

    A simple way may be create a view on referenced tables:

  • A problem happened when building dimensions with Rule File

    Hi All,
    I was trying to build dimensions with the rule file. But it showed the error 1030100, which means "cannot open file".
    I can load data with a data source (.txt). Thus, I assumed that it's a problem to open a rule file.
    I don't think it's the problem about the rule files I wrote since I cannot even build dimensions with rule files in the Sample/Basic database.
    Anyone knows how to solve the problem? Thanks for the help.

    After I saw this message, I checked the folder and there is no such file. I tried to created one, but it disappear after I tried to build dimensions.

    This path is referred to error message .... it will show the errors in that file...
    and one more thing...
    while adding data source to rule file it will ask you provide a path for the error message...there you can see this path...
    Just check dataload.err file after running the rule file...
    have you associated the out line to the rule file ???
    is that rule file validate fine?
    if not associate it and try...

    i have done the following steps.
    1.I have created the AW name "myfirstaw" and i can see the AW in my DB.
    2.I have a DIm table Products.
    3.i have attached the AW using below command
    EXECUTE DBMS_AW.AW_ATTACH('MYFIRSTAW', TRUE);
    4.Atlast i m trying to create dimension using
    execute dbms_awm.create_awdimension ('OMTEST', 'PRODUCTS', 'OMTEST','MYFIRSTAW', 'AW_PROD');
    then i m getting error :
    SQL> execute dbms_awm.create_awdimension ('OMTEST', 'PRODUCTS', 'OMTEST','MYFIRSTAW', 'AW_PROD');
    ERROR Create_AWDimension. ___AW_CREATE_DIMENSION

    Thanks for the reply. Actually i don't want any work around (Creating MVLOG on table rather than synonym is fine with me) . I just wanted to know it is actually an oracle bug or something else.

    You didn't mention what error(s) you've encountered? A workaround for the most commonly hit problem is here Re: error in Muse : Object UID:U6875 has two (or more) owners: U3633 and U3165
    If you have a copy of your .muse file that has not been saved using 2014.3, you can downgrade by uninstalling Muse and then choose Previous Version in the Filters drop down in the Apps panel of the Creative Cloud desktop app. There will be a popup next to Muse where you can select a prior version to install.
