Creating Directory Errors

I get two error messages when I try to install 7.1
After itunes installs the update and it is going through it's last step (looks almost complete), I get the following error:
"An error occurred while attempting to create the directory:
C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{50D8FFDD-90CD-4859-841F-AA1961C7767A}"
After I click on cancel, another box appears with this message:
"The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2330."
I've updated my windows software and removed itunes from my computer prior to this install, but still no luck. Suggestions?

Hi,
In general I don't have problems creating folders in my directory. However, I can't locate a C:C:\WINDOWS\Installer\ folder. When I try to creat a folder called "installer" in the windows directory, i get an error saying the file already exists.
I do see a folder in c:\windows\ called "Downloaded Installations". It has the installer packages for ipod and itunes from successful updates over the years.
I tried to create a folder called {50D8FFDD-90CD-4859-841F-AA1961C7767A} in the "Downloaded Installations" folder. I was able to create the folder, but the iTunes update still didn't work. I ended up getting the same error message, but this time it had a different number than the one above (the 50D8FFDD-etc....number).
What should I do next? I really appreciate the help.
Are you getting errors about creating folders there?
Try creating the folder where you get the errors.
"An error occurred while attempting to create the
directory:
C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{50D8FFDD-90CD-4859-841F-AA1961C7
767A}
If you can't create the above folder by hand then its
possibly a permission problem. I don't think the run
as adminstrator works well. So make sure you are in
the adminstrators group or logged in as the admin.

    Wow you've sure got a lot of threads going on this one (Ok Waz zup? and VMS, create directory and the chamber of secrets
    My first question is have you checked to ensure that the file and directory permissions will allow oracle to read the file you want? Have you tried dumping your supernote.js file in the jobsub directory, or chaning it's (and/or the directories) protections?
    From the documentation for create directory: "Oracle Database does not verify that the directory you specify actually exists. Therefore, take care that you specify a valid directory in your operating system. In addition, if your operating system uses case-sensitive path names, be sure you specify the directory in the correct format."

    Do you get this error when clicking on "Generate Preview" button when configuring source distribution properties?
    Under "Distribution Settings" category, could you try checking the

    Also I suggest Mass Compiling your VIs (Tools -> Advanced -> Mass Compile) before creating a source distribution.

    Hi, I have been having problems with Internet Explorer 8 using Windows 7 so wanted to install Firefox but unable to as get a message saying error creating directory c:\programme files (x86)\mozilla firefox\searchplugins

    Thank you guig2! Followed your bleepingcomputer.com link above and found the problem was my permissions on C:\Users\Bill\AppData\Local/Temp. It was not "Full Control" for my User or Administrator. Updated the two lines to permit full control for folder, subfolder and files. Ran perfect.

    Hi Glenn,
    Thanks for the suggestion. Nope, it's not listed. The only thing listed is my Time Machine volume.
    After a reboot, Time Machine seems to be working. It's making backups on schedule and the logs look good, not reporting any strangeness.
    A bit bummed about these phantom errors that go away on reboot. I'll keep on eye on the error/reboot frequency.

  • Error in creating directory

    i am using the following command to create a directory in Oracle:-
    CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY DATALOAD AS ‘D:\temp\udump’
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00911: invalid character
    How, can we remove the error? Please, help in solving the doubt.
    regards

    For eg., the directory 'DATALOAD' is not showing under D:\temp\udump path.Alas you have misunderstood the purpose of DIRECTORY objects in Oracle. They are a way of referring to OS paths abstractly, for instance in calls to UTL_FILE or when creating External Tables.
    This is useful for all sorts of reasons. It's safer and easier that setting UTL_FILE_DIR in the init.ora parameters. It's hand if we want our application to run on different operating systems, or just on servers with different directory structures.
    What CREATE DIRECTORY does not do is actually create the OS directory; it's just creating a mapping. You have to create the OS directory yourself, using the tool appropriate to your platform, Explorer in your case.

  • Has anyone received this error, "Failed to create directory for PX images"

    I recently migrated to Windows7.  98% of the migration went well. All of my pictures and Elements Catalog came over fine.  I had to "reconnect" all of the pictures in the catalog due to new directory name, but it worked fairly well.  Of the 11,000 entries synch'd with photoshop.com, 10,500 re-synch'd fine. However almost 500 are stuck with an error of "Failed to create directory for PX images".  Can anyone help with how to resolve this issue?  Note, I did try to remove the picture from the album and then re-add, but that didn't work.
    Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

  • Create directory utl_file errors

    I thought that I would be able to answer my problem with all the help I've seen online. I don't seem to be able to.
    I have the following code (snippet) below from my procedure:
    v_file varchar2(100);
    v_direc constant varchar2(30) := 'c:\output\';
    v_testfile UTL_FILE.FILE_TYPE;
    BEGIN
    v_testfile := utl_file.fopen('C:\output', 'JohnsUIICounts.txt', 'w');
    open csr_uii;
    loop
    fetch csr_uii into csr_uii_a, csr_uii_b, csr_uii_c, csr_uii_d;
    exit when csr_uii%NOTFOUND;
    utl_file.put_line(v_testfile, csr_uii_a || ' ' || csr_uii_b || ' '|| csr_uii_c || ' '|| csr_uii_d);
    end loop;
    I logged on to SQL Developer and did:
    CREATE DIRECTORY V_DIREC AS 'C:\output\';
    GRANT WRITE ON DIRECTORY V_DIREC TO PUBLIC;
    I got the message back that the directory was created. When I go to the c:\ drive, I don't see the directory.
    Any ideas? I've gone through all sorts of iterations like changing the drive from c to e, different folder names, upper and lower case, nothing works.
    Victoria

    Thanks. Now that I understand that, I created the directory on the server. I reran the code. I'm still getting:
    ORA-29280: invalid directory path
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_FILE", line 33
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_FILE", line 436
    I notice that on the Windows Server, when I create the directory (as an admin user), I check on the properties, and it keeps staying read only. I can modify it, but the change doesn't save. I heard something about group permissions. Is it possible that the problem is because of permissions on the server? I would think that might be the real problem at this point.
    Thanks,
    Victoria

    According to the download page the minimum supported version on Vista is 10.2.0.4 but the installation guide states 10.2.0.3.0.
    According to the installation guide you need administrator rights to run DBCA.
    How are you running DBCA? From the Start menu or from command line?

    Hi again--Help!!
    I have my whole site fixed of "errant" characters and ??? and it is ready to upload to a GoDaddy host.. And after turning off "Translate ISO characters" in the Fetch preferences, I now get this message:
    "Server response: Can't create directory: File exists."

    Just a note to say that I figured out the problem myself. It was a "space" in front of the named web pages in the iWeb list. You have to make sure there are no spaces like that or it will not publish properly! Everything is up and running now...Whew.

  • Getting `No such file or directory` error while trying to open bdb database

    I have four multi-threaded processes (2 writer and 2 reader processes), which make use of Berkeley DB transactional data store. I have multiple environments and the associated database files and log files are located in separate directories (please refer to the DB_CONFIG below). When all these four processes start to perform open and close of databases in the environments very quickly, one of the reader process is throwing a No such file or directory error even though the file actually exists.
    I am making use of Berkeley DB 4.7.25 for testing out these applications.
    The four application names are as follows:
    Writer 1
    Writer 2
    Reader 1
    Reader 2
    The application description is as follows:
    ‘*Writer 1*’ owns 8 environments and each environment having 123 Berkeley databases created using HASH access method. At any point of time, ‘*Writer 1*’ will be acting on 24 database files across 8 environments (3 database files per environment) for carrying out write operation. Where as reader process will be accessing all 123 database files / per environment (Total = 123 * 8 environments = 984 database files) for read activities. Similar configuration for Writer 2 as well – 8 separate environments and so on.
    Writer 1, Reader 1 and Reader 2 processes share the environments created by Writer 1
    Writer 2 and Reader 2 processes share the environments created by Writer 2
    My DB_CONFIG file is configured as follows
    set_cachesize 0 104857600 1   # 100 MB
    set_lg_bsize 2097152                # 2 MB
    set_data_dir ../../vol1/data/
    set_lg_dir ../../vol31/logs/SUBID/

    set_lk_max_lockers 1500
    set_lk_max_objects 1500
    set_flags db_auto_commit
    set_tx_max 200
    mutex_set_increment 7500
    Has anyone come across this problem before or is it something to do with the configuration?

    Hi Michael,
    I should have included about how we are making use of DB_TRUNCATE flag in my previous reply itself. Sorry for that.
    From writers, DB truncation happens periodically. During truncate (DB handle is not associated with any environment handle i.e. stand-alone DB
    ) following parameters are passed to db->open function call:
    DB->open(DB *db,
    DB_TXN *txnid,          => NULL
    const char *file,          => file name (absolute DB file path)
    const char *database,  => NULL
    DBTYPE type, => DB_HASH
    u_int32_t flags, => DB_READ_UNCOMMITTED | DB_TRUNCATE | DB_CREATE | DB_THREAD
    int mode); => 0
    Also, DB_DUP flag is set.
    As you have rightly pointed out, `No such file or directory` is occuring during truncation.
    While a database is being truncated it will not be found by others trying to open it. We simulated this by stopping the writer process (responsible for truncation) and by opening & closing the databases repeatedly via readers. The reader process did not crash. When readers and writers were run simultaneously, we got `No such file or directory` error.Is there any solution to tackle this problem (because in our case writers and readers are run independently. So readers won't come to know about truncation from writers)?
    Also, we are facing one more issue related to DB_TRUNCATE. Consider the following scenario:
    <ul><li>Reader process holds reference of database (X) handle in environment 'Y' at time t1
    </li>
    <li>Writer process opens the database (X) in DB_TRUNCATE mode at time t2 (where t2 &gt; t1)</li>
    <li>After truncation, writer process closes the database and joins the environment 'Y'</li>
    <li>After this any writes to database X is not visible to the reader process</li>
    <li>Once reader process closes the database X and re-joins the environment, all the records inserted from writer process are visible</li>
    </ul>
    Is it the right behavior? If yes, how to make any writes visible to a reader process without closing and re-opening the database in the above-mentioned scenario?
    Also, when [db_set_errfile|http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/berkeley-db/db/api_c/db_set_errfile.html] was set, we did not get any additional information in the error file.
    Thanks,
    Magesh
