Creating DOWNLOAD button in dreamweaver

Hi there,
I'm trying to create a DOWNLOAD button in dreamweaver so the
viewer can download the Quicktime video onto their own desktop to
keep, in addition to simply viewing it off my site. How would I do
that? I tried googling it, but no luck.
thanks

  • Create Download Button

    Hello out there,
    I would like to create a download-button in Adobe Captivate, which (when clicked) pens up a PDF file. I am only able to choose an URL.
    But this file has no URL, it's a file thats saved on my laptop. Is there a chance to integrate this into my Cativate Project.This works very well on my PC, but when somone else wants to open the button on its laptop the file wont open.
    Can anyone please help me?

    Hi AjCapti,
    The file that you specify for 'Open URL' action takes an absolute path so it would not work if the file is accessed on some one else's machine which may have totally different file setup.
    Best option would be to upload the PDF file to any webserver(for eg. Acrobat.com) and mention the URL hence generated. This way the location would be constant across machines.

  • Create Download Button or Link

    Hi,
    Can any one please help me on the following requirement.
    I am developing a custom page, in that i have to include the download button or download link. Can anyone please suggest how to do this and i even tried to do as given in devguide, but the download link is not visible.
    Following is my requirement:
    I have one invoice template and i have to download that template from my oaf page. so i need help in how to achieve the requirement and where to keep the template and how to download it from the oaf page.
    Thanks

    Hi
    Did you follow all these steps given in devguide
    Perform the following steps to implement the File Upload feature declaratively in an OA Extension page.
    Step 1: Create a region in your page layout region, with the Form property set to true for the page layout.
    Step 2: In the new region, create an item of item style messageFileUpload.
    Step 3: In the OA Extension Property Inspector, set the following properties for the messageFileUpload item:
    View Instance - A view object instance of the underlying data source.
    View Attribute - A view attribute in the specified view object instance, that maps to the column for
    storing the file content.
    Data Type - The Oracle data type of the view attribute. The BLOB data type is supported for File
    Upload. For example, if you set the data type to BLOB, the view attribute must map to a column whose
    data type is also BLOB.
    321
    Note: The data type must be set to the same data type as the column that the view attribute maps to,
    otherwise an error occurs when the user attempts to commit the file upload.
    Note: If you set Data Type to BLOB and you store your file content in FND_LOBS, be sure to populate
    the column FILE_CONTENT_TYPE (File MIME Type). Since FILE_CONTENT_TYPE is a non-null
    column, you will encounter an error is this column is not populated. Refer to the
    oracle.apps.fnd.framework.webui.beans.message.OAMessageFileUploadBean Javadoc for additional
    information.
    Prompt - The text label for the File Upload feature.
    Thanks

    choice. I have tried using URLRequest but it just opens the mp3 on
    another window with qiucktime which, i suspect, will happen with

    Check out the FileReference class... "The FileReference class
    provides a means to upload and download files between a user's
    computer and a server." (ActionScript 3.0 Language and Components
    Reference)
    At this moment, you know as much as I do about it, so I don't
    know if it's really what you need. But if it is, and you figure out
    the code, it'd be great if you put the coded solution here for the
    benefit of others (you know, pay it forward and all that).

  • Creating buttons in Dreamweaver CS4

    I'm designing a website in Dreamweaver and Flash. Everything works perfectly, from the .swf movies that I've put on the site to the simple images as banners. My problem comes when it comes to buttons, the flash buttons simply don't work on some browsers! I guess my main question is, how can I make functional buttons in Dreamweaver, so that they work in any browser (Firefox, Safari, Explorer, etc.)?

    If the buttons are in Flash there is no reason they would not work from one browser to the next unless there are underlying issues on the system.
    As far as other options you could just design your own background for buttons and use the Spry Menu bar with just one level.  That will give it the same effect.

  • I need to create a download button that detects mac or windows

    I have mac and windows version of a screensaver. I want the user to click the download button and have either the mac version or windows version download according to what OS is running on the computer. Can anyone advise me on how to accomplish this?
    Thanks,
    Rich

    Doing this solely through the download button is an exercise in futility.
    It's much easier to just use two download buttons like this:
    Or you can use a javascript to detect the browser on your index page, and you can send the visitor to the appropriate downloads page based on the info detected.
    A quick search of "browser detection in html" led to to this page: http://www.quirksmode.org/js/detect.html which has a pretty simple detection script.
    You'll need to know javascript to write the redirect so your visitors end up in the proper place, but that's why I suggested the buttons. Much simpler, and it leaves the choice up to your visitors, some of whom, like me, quite often download PC software on their Mac (& vice-versa) and pull it over through file sharing. It really all depends which side of the desk I'm sitting at when I find something, how I download a file if I want it. I know the difference between an exe and a dmg. so I know if I'm  downloading the right thing or not.

  • Flash buttons in dreamweaver 8

    Hi,
    i am having a problem with inserting flash button in
    dreamweaver 8, when i insert the buttons it appears on the page as
    a grey box with "F"(flash) and not displaying the proper text. The
    user is a standard windows users and has not administrator
    privilidges. but if an administrator loggs into the pc and does the
    exact same process then the flash button work.
    has anyone come across this problem ? does anyone know how to
    resolve
    cheers
    david

    You'll need to go back into Flash and build the links into the buttons before you create the swf's.  Look in the Flash help docs regarding the getURL function as far as the code you'll need for linking.  If you have problems, post in the Flash AS1 and AS2 forum.
    Beyond that, don't be surprised if some feedback arises here regarding using Flash buttons.

  • Extending buttons in Dreamweaver 8 site

    Hi,
    I need to now whether I can create a button that extends into
    more buttons without using a flash movieclip button for this in

    over them they should change in color.

  • Are There Preset Flash Buttons In Dreamweaver CS4

    I have upgraded from Dreamweaver MX to CS4 and I'm looking for preset flash buttons that I can just insert within dreamweaver and I can't find any.  Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?  I don't know how to create flash buttons just yet and If i need to start the journey of learning how please let me know.  I'm editing a site I created in MX so I want matching buttons and such lol.

    There aren't any flash buttons in DWCS4 anymore see Deprecated features in this link:

  • Can you create a button from apDiv in CS4

    can I create a button action for in the code view
    <div id="ap Div3"></div>
    I know how to link text that I place within the div id to a html document but I want to be able to draw an AP DIV from the layout and have it contain an image or color, then when hovering over have the background change to a color, then be able to hit anywhere whithin the <div id="ap Div3"></div> area and have it change to another color.
    I am very comfortable with flash and am having a dificult time understanding the rigid layout of dreamweaver.
    thanks in advance

    I get the impression you are new to DW.  With that said, I think it would be a very good idea for you to go over to http://www.w3schools.com and get familiar with html and css.
    I dont believe you can have an apdiv as a link (I may be wrong, but hopefully at the end of this  it will not be relevant), however you can have a "button" or other graphic as a link. Here is the code.
    <a href="http://www.yourlink.com"><img src="folder/file.ext" width="200" height="200" /></a>
    This will create a link on an image.
    If you want the image or colors to change, you will have to go and set rules for your links.  Put the following in your editor (DW Code View) and adjust as you like.
    a:link {
        color: #333333;
    a:visited {
        color: #FFFFFF;
    a:hover {
        color: #CCCCCC;
        background-color: #333333;
    a:active {
        color: #333333;
    Lastly, apdivs, in particular for someone new to DW and html can be a world of pain.  Trying to use them as a layout object can be very frustrating, because once you have tweaked and tweaked them, you look at your layout on a different machine, and chances are it looks nothing like what you had.

  • How to upload a custom button on Dreamweaver cs5?

    Hello,
         I would like to add a custom "View Cart" button onto my website. I went onto a random website where I was able to create a custom image for my view cart button. The button I got was called button.php. I checked the document properties and collected some information on it. The type of file is: Adobe Fireworks PNG File (.png). It is said to open with: Adobe Fireworks CS5. I made a copy of this document and put it in Dreamweaver by opening a blank page and pasting the image in there. I saved the page and published it.
    Then, I went onto paypal and put the link to this published page where it was asked for. I received a code that I pasted into dreamweaver in the section I wanted the "View Cart" button to appear. When I save and publish this page, the button never appears. Paypal's name is what appears and when you click on it, it goes to the cart.
    So the problem appears to be with how I have uploaded and saved this image/button on Dreamweaver. Can anyone please tell me the proper way to upload it so that it appears on my website?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Laila

    Thank you very much for all of your suggestions and help.
    I have found myself in another problem. Initially, I inserted the paypal "View Cart" button and code in my header. However, since there is a logo present there, and the code was lengthy, the PayPal button appeared right below my header and right above my navigation menu. I deleted it because of the awkward location it ended up being placed in. However, for some reason, it did not completely go away. If you visit www.Ziyah.com, you can see the "button" (which really did not even appear to begin with) in its place it says "Paypal the safer easier way to pay online!"
    I have made several attempts and checked the code so many times. However, I do not see that original code I pasted from PayPal anywhere inside of my Dreamweaver code, so I do not know how to delete that "button" or tag line and get rid of it. I do not know where it is hiding, but it has to be somewhere in my code. I fear having to delete and re-do the navigation menu just to get rid of that.
    Is there any way I can get rid of it? Again, here is the Paypal View Cart Code that I originally pasted into Dreamwaver. Please take a look and see if you can see parts of this code somewhere in my page code, because I cannot find it and hence, have no way to get rid of it.

  • How can I install a 'download' button on a blank webpage that contains a PDF?

    I'm an actor who uses iWeb09 to create my website. On the page I created for my resume', I placed a text box with the title at the top of a blank page, and then dragged a PDF into it.
    Now, I know that people who view the page can right click (Control click Mac) the mouse and choose a download option from the menu. But my manager strongly urged me to put a 'download' button up there for anyone who doesn't know you can use the 'right-click/control-click' method. There doesn't seem to be a widget for this function. Is there a way I can make a button that will perform that download function?
    Thanks in advance,
    D. Gleason

    There are two ways of forcing a file to download rather than display. The simplest is to zip it - then it will download automatically. Obviously the person at the other end has to unzip it, but I believe that pretty well all modern computers can handle this.
    The other is more complicated. It involves creating a special folder on your server for you to upload the file into, then adding a text file which you have to make invisible. This isn't as difficult as it sounds, and only needs to be done the once (every file added to that folder will then download when linked to). The method is described here:

  • How to create a Calender in Dreamweaver

    I received a calender to put in a webpage made in Microsoft
    publisher which seems only work in that program
    Soi I am trying to create a calender in Dreamweaver
    Anyone have any ideas
    Thanks

    Dreamweaver is not a click and drag application.  You need to build a layout with HTML and CSS code.  Or start your project with one of the pre-built CSS Layouts in DW.  Go to File > New > Blank Page > HTML.  Choose a layout from the 3rd panel and hit CREATE button.
    Then use the insert button to add an image to your layout.  That said, you must resize and optimize images for the web beforehand using your graphics program (Photoshop).  Otherwise, your images will be way too big.

  • File Upload/Download buttons in Table UI

    Dear Experts,
    I want to give file upload and download buttons in the columns of the Table UI element. I'm not able to achieve upload file with browse functionality on the click and Download file with ws_execute functionality.
    If anybody can throw some light, it would be of great help.
    I'm sort of a intermediate level developer in WD for ABAP.
    Regds,
    Aryan.

    Hi Aryan,
    In order to get the download functionality. Create an button in the Table toolbar and put the below coding into it. You need to basically do the following tasks:
    1) First read the table's data into an internal table.
    2) Convert the internal table data to STRING format.
    3) Now convert it into tab delimited format.
    4) Convert this STRING format to XSTRING format
    5) Make use of the attach_file_to_response method.

    Uday
    You can also go through this [link|http://****************/Tutorials/WebDynproABAP/Export/toexcel.htm] for a similar example.
    METHOD onactionon_submit .
      DATA: lv_node TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node,
            lt_mara TYPE if_main=>elements_mara,
            wa_mara TYPE if_main=>element_mara,
            lead_selection_index TYPE i,
            mara_string  TYPE string,
            mara_xstring TYPE xstring.
      lv_node = wd_context->get_child_node( name = 'MARA' ).
      CALL METHOD lv_node->get_static_attributes_table
        IMPORTING
          table = lt_mara.
      LOOP AT lt_mara INTO wa_mara.
        CONCATENATE mara_string
                    wa_mara-matnr
                    wa_mara-ersda
                    wa_mara-ernam
                    wa_mara-matkl
                    wa_mara-meins
                    cl_abap_char_utilities=>newline INTO mara_string
                                            SEPARATED BY cl_abap_char_utilities=>horizontal_tab.
      ENDLOOP.
      CALL FUNCTION 'SCMS_STRING_TO_XSTRING'
        EXPORTING
          text   = mara_string
        IMPORTING
          buffer = mara_xstring.
      wdr_task=>client_window->client->attach_file_to_response(  i_filename  = 'TEMP.DOC'
                                                                 i_content   = mara_xstring
                                                                 i_mime_type = 'WORD' ).
    ENDMETHOD.
    The above is the code to export the Internal Table to Word Document. You can proceed as shown below for Excel & NOTEPAD formats.
    To Export the Internal Table to Text File:
    WDR_TASK=>CLIENT_WINDOW->CLIENT->ATTACH_FILE_TO_RESPONSE(
        I_FILENAME    = 'WDP.txt'
        I_CONTENT     =  mara_xstring
        I_MIME_TYPE   = 'NOTEPAD' ).
    To Export the Internal Table to Excel File:
    WDR_TASK=>CLIENT_WINDOW->CLIENT->ATTACH_FILE_TO_RESPONSE(
        I_FILENAME    = 'Excel.xls'
        I_CONTENT     =  mara_xstring
        I_MIME_TYPE   = 'EXCEL' ).

  • Download button for photographs

    Does anyone know how to get rid of the "download" link when you look at individual photographs? I hate it.
    Also does anyone know how to change the horizontal window when creating a photo album to a vertical window so that you can scroll through vertical images without the window cropping them, or a severe reduction in quality.
    Thanks.

    Hey Steve,
    You're welcome... Maybe all those posts and reposts look confusing to you...
    The fact is that the testing and the new knowledge actually changed a few things
    in the four solutions I posted. So here we go again:
    1. Select "none" and you will get no download button and small images
    2. Batch your pictures so that if someone should ever rightclick the name or
    the url stay in the pictures so that everyone will know that he downloaded the
    picture from your website. See my way of batching with url here
    You can also batch photos with an image, logo of the website or something.
    3. 1+2 (which I recommend you)
    Of course people will always be able to take them and with photoshop cut the
    part with the batch... There's no full protection...
    I batched my pics with PicMark
    which is not professional but free and good enough for me.

    Cédric (I'm waiting for your link! )
