Creating Dynamic Routing Rules within mediators

Hi
When I check the (huge but apparently not enough) SOA developer's guide. I can't find any reference to dynamic rules within mediators. This feature seems available within jdev11g TP3. But the way to use it isn't straightforward.
Do you know where I could find some explanation/samples or documentation related to this point pls ?
ThanX
Dominique

Dominique,
Unfortunately this feature is not quite complete in TP3 so I wouldn't waste too much time trying. We will try to have documentation and samples ready for it in TP4.
Sorry,
/Demed

  • How to access/update Routing Rules in WorklistApplication console ?

    Hi,
I have created few Routing Rules in my Human Task and routing is properly working.
But when I tried to search these Routing Rules in WorklistApplication console (via weblogic which an admin user)
I couldn't find any Routing Rules, However all other rules (rules for list building) that I had created for my human task are available in WorklistApplication.
I want to know how to access/update these Routing Rules in WorklistApplication ?
    regards,

    Hi,
Even when I deployed the sample application workflow-106-IterativeDesign provided at http://java.net/projects/oraclesoasuite11g/downloads/directory/HumanWorkflow?field=date&order=asc , the routing rules are not appearing in WorklistApplication console.
    is this a bug ?

  • How to setup a routing rule for a specific file type for the content organizer?

    Hello,
how can I set a routing rule for a specific file type, for example for "pdf" or for "docx", for my content organizer?
As standard I can only choose for the rules the content type, name and title of the file uploaded.
    Thank you in advance!
    JohnyG

    Hi Johny,
Based on your description, my understanding is that you want to create a routing rule for a specific file type.
I recommend to create rules with the conditions as the image below shows for the Document content type(for example: .docx files):
    Best regards.

  • BRF+ Routing Rule not showing Expression

    Hi Experts,
I am trying to create a BRF+ routing rule (line item by line item) within SAP Standard Process ID - SAP_GRAC_ACCESS_REQUEST
The purpose is to use it as a detour based upon Role attributes. Although the rule is generated in ABAP screen, when I try to modify BRF+ rule, the Expression where decision table is located, not coming up.
When I test it, it gives error - Expression not set.
What could be the issue? Need your help.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sabita

    Hi Sabita,
Definitely look up those courses! I'm an instructor for them in the UK and these sorts of questions are exactly those which most people ask on the courses!
GRFN_MW_S_ROUTING is a structure which contains those two fields. This should be the Result Data Object which will then automatically place those two fields as the results.
The Condition columns are user driven inputs where you give the criteria for the routing rules e.g. Business process or role criticality etc.
For routing rules or initiator rules, there are two sources for the information; the request header (attributes of the request) or the request line items (attributes of the roles on the request). There are some fields which may exist in both (e.g. Business process for the access request or the business process assigned to the Role) which explains why there are duplicates in the list. When selecting the conditions, scroll right to the bottom of the list and you'll find the Structures which show Header or Line Item. If you expand those, then you will see the list of fields again. By doing this, you'll know whether you're looking at the header or line item field.
Select the appropriate fields as the columns and then add in the rows to identify the specific criteria.

  • Creating New Entity Instances within OPA

This is another one that I think I know the answer to, but I think it is best to confirm.
In prior versions, it was not possible to create entity instances within RuleBurst/Haley Office Rules. Is that still the case in OPA?
For example, my rules are determining the status of a case and the reason(s) why that status was determined. The case status may be Denied and the reasons may be "invalid customer Id", "expenses to income ratio too high", "primary customer not employed long enough", etc. I want to return all the reasons for the status. While the list of reasons is pre-determined, the ones that apply to a particular case are dynamic, as any, but not all can apply.
Given this situation using a database, I would create an instance of reason for each applicable one and link it to the case. In the past, with OPA's predecessor(s), it was not possible to create new instances from within. They either had to all be passed into the rulebase or a list of all allowable reasons attributes had to be created and then set to true for the ones that applied.
My preference is to create the instances inside OPA. Is that functionality provided in the current version?
    Thanks,
    Terry

    Hi Terry,
Michael is correct that you can't write rules at design time which will dynamically create new entity instances at runtime. However, perhaps the new inferred relationships functionality in v10 could address what you're trying to do.
You can write rules which conclude membership of an inferred relationship. So you might always have, say, 10 instances of 'the reason' in every case, but as for which of those instances apply in any particular case, it depends on the details of the case. You could use an inferred relationship to collect up the entity instances which apply in the case.
First you'd need to set up a regular one-to-many relationship to instantiate the 10 instances at runtime - this would be done in the usual way. Then you'd also need to set up an inferred relationship and write rules to conclude the members of the inferred relationship. The instances which are members of the inferred relationship are then effectively the list of entity instances you wanted to create in your example above.
Have a look at this OPM Help article: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/applications/policy-automation/help/opm10_1/Content/Rules%20using%20entity%20instances/Reason_about_relship_between_2_entities.htm

  • QM:Maximum skip duration in dynamic modification rule

    Hi
Can anybody explain how the system behaves with
QM:Maximum skip duration in dynamic modification rule.
    Gobinathan G

    Hi,
In dynamic modification rule you maintain the inspection modification based on the quality level. You mention the maximum skip duration for resting the skip status if the inspection lot is not created during the specified period after creation of last inspection lot. That means the Skip status will be reset to Inspection status if the lot is not created during the specified period & you will have to inspection the lot instead of skipping. If the lot is generated within the period, then you will be able to skip the inspection.

  • Task assignment adapter - dynamic route to either group or user

I have configured an approval process in design console and I want to be able to dynamically route the approval request to either the target user manager OR a group. I have written logic/code to automatically determine what group or user to route the request to and also to set the key type to either user or group depending on my logic conditions.
This code is executed in a task assignment adapter and set the values for the key type and key depending on the logic.
i.e. the key type would be "user" and key would be the user key for the target user manager, if my logic determines it should be routed to a manager
    OR
the key type would be "group" and key would be the group key for the approval group, if my logic determines it should be routed to a group
HOWEVER MY PROBLEM is with assigning the adapter to a process task. I am thinking I would need to have two entries in the Assignment tab of the process task. The first entry has the default rule and I assigned the target type to "group" and include my adapter here.
How do I go about assigning the second entry for target type "user"? Since "Default" is the only rule option and I am not able to use it twice.
I tried to create a rule in the Rule Definition form and create a Task Assignment rule that might do something to check if a task is assigned to "user", so that I can have this as my second rule in the Assignment tab of the process task and if it is true, it would call my adapter that would return the key for the target user's manager.
I DO NOT KNOW what conditions to set in the Rule Element window for the Task Assignment rule. Can someone tell me what to do here OR provide me with a better alternative.

Thanks for all the responses. Approvals are now being routed correctly.
I have a follow-up question though........ I created a process adapter to send notifications to either the target user manager or members of the group that is the approval is routed to.
I have a notification process task as part of my approval process and in its Integration tab, I added my process adapter that sends notifications.
The code for the adapter uses the same logic I described in my original question to determine if the approval is being routed to a user of group. If it is routed to a group, the notification adapter identifies members of the group and sends email to them, this part works fine.
However the problem is when the logic determines it should be routed to the target user's manager. One of the variables of this notification process adapter is username of the target user. Using that username, my code determines who the manager, gets the manager's email address and sends the email. Problem with this is that when mapping variables for process adapters in the Integration tab, in the Map To field, it does not give you the option of mapping to Request Target User, which would have provided me with user attributes of the target user such as the user name. It provides option for the Requester, but my reality is that the Requester is not always the Target User.
Any suggestions for fixing this would be greatly appreciated.

  • Mediator dynamic routing

    Hi,
has anyone implemented mediator dynamic routing successfully (11.1.1.5)?
when trying to do it, none of the rules is selected, and when creating a function to test it on jdeveloper it returns an error :
oracle.rules.sdk2.exception.SDKException: RUL-05016: The Java class "oracle.tip.mediator.rules.model.ObjectFactory" cannot be loaded. Ensure that the class and all its dependent classes are on either the class path or the user-specified path.
The error message on the instance is:
    Non Recoverable Business Fault :
Fact not found in the rule engine working memory, rule session execution failed. The rule session 771038 failed because an instance of the fact oracle.tip.mediator.rules.model.DynamicRouting could not be found in the working memory of the rule session. This is most likely a rule modeling error. The decision service interaction expects the fact instance to exist in the working memory of the rule session. Check the rule actions in rule designer and make sure that a fact of the expected type is being asserted. If the error persists, contact Oracle Support Services. 771038
    Any help?

    Hi,
How are you planning to design your composite ? Right now system B uses Version 1, so you will be adding transformation for Version2 to Version 1.Once your System B is upgraded then it will have to consume Version2 of xsd, for which you have to remove the transformation from mediator and update your webservice with schema 2. In that case you have to redeploy your code.
Are you planning to use BPEL after mediator, or directly you would be calling system B using mediator as standalone component?
How much differenc is between version 1 and version 2 schemas structure wise? Are both of them altogether different ?

  • Complex routing rules in EBS

    Hi,
I have a situation where the routing rules are complex (involving several web service calls and DB lookups) and cant be done in a Mediator.
In this scenario, should I create an EBF and implement these additional lookups and routing logic there?
Or should I change the EBS from Mediator based composite to a BPEL based composite?
Or simply create an additional BPEL within EBS and call that from Mediator?
    Any other options?
Please let us know what Oracle recommends in such situations.

It depends what these external services actually are. If we consider these services helper services in a sense similar to a rule engine, calling them directly from the EBF is no issue.
If these services are rather application services, then they should preferably have a canonical facade and the EBF would call them through the same or another EBS - depending on which canonical it would be.

  • Extending routing rules

    Hello All,
Just wondering how to extend routing rules and route the message to a inbuilt legacy system and The out of the box PIP provide integration between two systems say siebel and EBIZ, customer also wanted to route the message to a legacy system, do i need a develop a Custom EBS or add new routing rule to EBS?
    Would appreciate your help..

I have not used the PIPS but within the AIA Foundation Pack (v2.4) there is a concept of creating an EBF (Enterprise Business Flow) in the docs. It is summarized as
"An EBF is needed when an enterprise business Service (EBS) operation needs to be implemented with a set of tasks and involves invoking of multiple services. An EBF can invoke only another EBS. In no situation should an EBF invoke and ABC service directly."
This may be possible, if not then adding a routing rule to the ESB/Mediator Service would seem the logical step.

  • How to mention numbers in array while creating dynamic sql

    Hi,
I am creating a dynamic sql and in that I am selecting some rows from the table and storing it into the array.

I got a different error, but you need to initialise your nval_array and make sure it can hold three values. The following should work:
    declare
      type NewValueArray is table of varchar2(4000);
      nVal_Array NewValueArray := NewValueArray();
    Begin
      nval_array.extend(3);

    if (id1.equals("link1a"))
    else{
in the if & else condition, i have to create UI elements dynamically.
when i am trying to create Ui elements dynamically, but i am unable to create dynamically here.
pls give me suggestion how to proceed this
    regards,
    vila

    Hi Vila,
Are you trying to create UI elements dynamically in the action? If yes then you won't be able to do so because you can only create UI elements dynamically in WDDoModifyView().
Always WDDoModifyView() would be called after your action. So, you can handle it as you want in your WDDoModifyView() itself.
But if you want that those elements should be created everytime when you fire an event then don't write it within if(firstTime) clause as this would be true only when WDDoModifyView() is called for the first time when the page intially loads.

  • Problem in dynamic routing through ESB

    Hi All,
I am trying dynamic routing through ESB, So I created routing service in my esb with WSDL of BPEL Process1 and a soap service with same wsdl. Then created a xsl transformation. In this xsl transformation I added below code to route to BPEL process 2.
    <xsl:variable name="LocationIn"
    select="http://PC-HP249:8888/orabpel/default/SyncBPELProcess2/1.0/SyncBPELProcess2"/>

    select="ehdr:setOutboundHeader('/shdr:ESBHeader/shdr:location',
    $LocationIn, 'shdr=http://xmlns.oracle.com/esb;')"/>
But when I am invoking this ESB through another BPEL process, Got below error message:, Is there any solution for that , I am using 10.1..3.4.0, (JDEV, and BPEL).

  • Dynamic routing in OSB

    Environment: OSB 10.3.1
To avoid manual configuring all published services one-by-one (eg. alter logging), I'd like to implement a generic proxy pattern in OSB. Assume that I have business services at /bs1, /bs2, etc, proxy services at /ps1, /ps2, etc.
What I'd like to achieve is to publish proxy services which routes to the generic proxy first and then reroute to the original proxy service. For this I published eg. /pps1, /pps2, etc all with an Insert action which saves $inbound/ctx:transport/ctx:uri to . in $header and then route to the genericproxy proxy service.
Generic proxy starts by executing common logic in the pipeline (log, etc), then should fetch the original routing information from the header and use dynamic routing to direct the message to the right proxy service (/ps1, /ps2, etc).
    Now the questions:
    1. is this the right approach to solve the problem of generic configuration of multiple published services in OSB?
    2. appearently the uri itself is not enough for dynamic routing - what else do I need to save from the original message?
    3. can I construct a <ctx:route><ctx:service..><ctx:operation..> construct with only Insert actions? I'd need a concrete example here accomplishing this.
    Thanks.

Well you have to add Route Node to your proxy pipeline and inside it add a Dynamic Routing action.
If you select the Dynamic Routing action you'll see in the Properties view something like:
    Service: <Expression>
Here is where you have to define the <ctx:route> element. You can basically paste the text here.
You could also create an XQuery transformation (so you can reuse it later) and invoke it here (with the XQuery Resources tab). But if you're not very familiar with XQuery I'd advise to start with the first option just to see it working.
At first you could also omit the {$proxy} variable and statically specify the service you want to route to. Or you could use an Assign action to define the $proxy (or any name you want to give it) variable. And then once that's working see if you can get the service path from the headers.
    Hope that helps

Well, I don't think this approach is bad in any possible circumstances. It depends on the requirements we don't know. Yes, usually applications should not be designed in this way. But 'usually' does not mean 'never'. One possible case is described in Oracle's example Referencing Database Objects that Do Not Exist at Compilation. It's possible to assume that tables inv_01_2003, inv_04_2003, etc from the referenced topic What Is Dynamic SQL? are generated automatically by some job using dynamic create table stmt. If the OP has similar requirements tnen this approach is not bad. It may not be the best one but it at least is not so bad as you said.
I believe that OPs know their requirements much better than me. This is why I always try to answer the exact question. If the approach is really ugly then I don't answer such questions at all.
