Creating executable jar from a project

Dear all,
I created a GUI project with ms-access as backend. now i want to create an executable jar out of these project(all classes). so any one please guide to achieve this. I am using netbeans 5.5.
thank you,
ishan

From Projects window in netbeans, right click your project, and from context menu select Properties. From Project Properties Dialog
highlight Run which in the left pane tree.
on the right pane select the main class of your project by writting its complete package path in the field beside "Main Class:" label, or simply click "Browse..." to choose it.
And have a nice time.
Thanks.

  • Creating executable JAR from JDeveloper 11

    Hello
    Iv'e been using JDeveloper for developing my Java desktop app. It includes my classes and some additional external jar's. From within JDeveloper everything works fine, but now I want to deliver my app as a single JAR file (including the external jars).
    I searched and searched and couldn't find such an option. I tried creating deployment profiles and deploy my app but the resulting JAR was very small, did not include the utility jars and did not run in double clicking.
    I tried both Eclipse and NetBeans and they produced nice running executable jars of the sane application with only a few clicks. However, Im used to JDeveloper and would rather continue working with it. Is there a way to create a complete executable jar from JDeveloper (or maybe a plugin) ?
    If not than how do I do it manually so I can write my own generator ? (I know the basics, but how do I include the library jars ?)
    Thanks
    Guy Shilo

    Hi
    If you to want include external jars, don't keep those inside src folder but outside to that folder. Then only framework consider this as resources and will be packed while deploying. You can ensure it by creating a simple file using wizard. It will be displayed in application navigator under the folder 'Resources'

  • Executing jar from java code, then kill parent java code

    Please suggest if there is any best way around on executing jar from java code then killing parent java code.
    a) I have desktop based java application say "Monitor.java" which runs every 5 minutes.
    b) How can I START external java application say "execute.jar" from Monitor.java THEN EXIT Monitor.java
    I tried various options using "ProcessBuilder" and calling bat file but I need Monitor (parent application to EXIT, immediately after calling child (execute.jar)
    Try1) ProcessBuilder builder = new ProcessBuilder("java -jar execute.jar");
    Process process = builder.start();
    Try2) Runtime r = Runtime.getRuntime();
    Process p = null;
    p = r.exec(new String[] { "cmd", "/c", "start C:/temp/Test.bat" });

    I have a requirement to transfer data from one db to another db from Java Application Layer.Maybe, maye not. We get all sorts of weird "requirements" - which are nothing but thoughts or proposed solutions.
    But,
    Did the "requirement" mention whether the table existed already or not in the target database? - If not, did it tell you to create it - drop/create it?
    Did the "requirement" deliver some explanation to why this copying was neeeded? - Are we talking replication? - Or a one time cloning?
    Etc, etc,
    Personally I would always argue against a "reuirement" like that. - It just isn't the way to do it. Period.
    Regards
    Peter
    P.S: If you are satisfied with what COPY does, then you could let Java make an OS call and do it from there?

  • Creating separate jars from one package structure

    Hello,
    I have the following package structure:
    project
    project.util
    project.mainAll of these packages are in the same classes directory. I would like to create one jar that contains project, one jar that contains project.util and one jar that contains project.main.
    The sub-packages jar correctly (each in its respective jar), however, the jar that supposed to contain ONLY the project package ends up containing the other two packages as well. If I say jar -cvf project.jar -C classes project it takes the entire project hierarchy (including util and main packages). If I say jar -cvf project.jar -C classes project\*.class it says that classes\project\*.class cannot be found. How can I limit the classes being jarred to not include the classes in the subdirectories?
    Please help. Thank you
    Elana

    Please help, anyone!
    Thanks

    java is choosy about the actual manifest file format (line ending, trailing empty line, whatever).
    This works for me with your example:
    posman@proli:~/ivan/aa> cat mf
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Main-Class: JarTest
    posman@proli:~/ivan/aa> od -cx mf

  • Input to an executable jar from a batch file

    Hi, I have created an executable jar program to receive the input during runtime from a batch file. I have tried to run the program by passing arguments at runtime but the code doesn't seem to execute. Can anyone help me out to pass an argument to the java program using the batch file. The flow of my project is -> The batch file triggers the executable jar file (I am able to execute till this !) -> The input to the executable jar file should be fetched from the arguments given in the batch file which will be taken as the input for the java program.

    My java code prompts the user to enter the data but the batch file when executed executes the code but does not wait for the user input. This is the message my batch file displays when executed.
    C:\Users\Administrator\Downloads\BatchTool>java -Xms512M -Xmx512M -jar Program.jar -o true
    Enter custom directory :
    C:\Users\Administrator\Downloads\BatchTool>PAUSE
    Press any key to continue . . .
    If I press any key the program exits
    Is there an option to give the input via batch code ? My doubt is not in the java code. Its the batch file which triggers the code and i want the batch command which will trigger the input to the code being executed.
    Is there a way to give the input to this batch file ?
    C:\Users\Administrator\Downloads\BatchTool>java -Xms512M -Xmx512M -jar Program.jar -o true * Can i replace this code with an input for the java code ? *

  • How to create executable jar in eclipse using linking in compiler

    Hi,
    I have a project in Eclipse. I wrote already an ant build file for creating an executable jar which includes all project files.
    Now I want to create a second executable jar which is a subset of the project (a limited number of classes are necessary).
    I have a main class and I was looking for a way to generate a jar file which includes the main class and all the depending classes.
    Is there a way to do it? With ant or with another tool?
    Is it possible to compile a project given a main class, and include all depending classes?
    Regards,
    Biebel

    Some more information:
    When I compile all the classes, the jar file is +/- 3.5Mb inclusive the server side logic.
    The subproject I want to build, should be less then 1Mb (Only some screens and beans, no business logic ((only +/- 10% of the projects code) )).
    My question is: How can I create a executable jar with only the necessary class files which depends on the main class. (Linked with the imports).
    Is there a tool to do that? Can it be done with an ANT script? If so, how does the script looks?
    What are you talking about?
    You already said that you are using Ant.
    Ant uses script files.
    Since you have one with X items in it and you want something new with X-Y items in it the obviously it would make sense to construct an ant script that does less than the other ant script.
    The following provides a huge amount of information about Ant.
    [http://ant.apache.org/resources.html]
    Other than that no one can tell you want your Ant script will look like except that it will do less than the one that you already have.

  • Create a dvd from past project and event moved to external hard drive

    i have version 7.04 DVD. Moved several projects and events to external hard drive. How do I go to "existing dvd projects" and create a dvd from a completed past dvd project? do i have to move the project and event back to the iMac hard drive..thanks

    A iDVD project contain links to the various elements you have used to make the project. Unless you have actually saved the project as an iDVD Project Archive (an option under FILE in iDVD) which can be a very large file because it actually contains all the elements used in the project with adjusted links, simply moving a project (and/or elements used in the project) breaks all the necessary links. Sometimes you can reestablish the links (iDVD usually gives you a chance to try), but it can't always be done.
    Good luck.

  • Create a jar from RMI

    Hi everyone
    I have a RMI application functioning ok but I want to create a jar file to deploy in two computers.
    How do I create a jar file from RMI files?
    Regards

    Are you shure?No, I am sure. Did you have some reason for believing I'm wrong?
    Do you have an example?Yes.
    I saw this link:
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/rmi/compiling.html
    it explains a part of what you say.Exactly. So why are you asking me whether I'm sure?
    Please gave a look to itWhy? I already know the answer.

  • Creating executable JAR

    Hello!
    I have a very strange problem. I have been googling extensively but I just can't make consistently executable JAR. Usually things either always work or they don't, but in my case sometimes JAR gets created, or sometimes I get:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: hello
    With exactly the same commands. What is the problem? I have created the simplest possible class:
    public class hello
            public static void main(String [] s)
    }I have created a manifest file mf.data:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Main-Class: hello
    Created-By: 1.4 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)I ran this command:
    jar cfvm TrayIcon.jar mf.data hello.class Then this one:
    java -jar TrayIcon.jarAnd I get:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: helloCould somebody please tell me what is the problem? Why is it working one time when I create JAR and not the other?
    Thank you!
    Victor.

    Are you sure you did not overlook something?
    Examine the working jar file and the not working one with, say, checking the contents.
    unzip -l myfile.jar

  • I have been trying to create a movie from a project that is primarily stills and one video clip.  I cannot successfully create the movie without iMovie shutting down unexpectedly.  Any ideas for the cause of the problem?

    I am getting an unexpected shut down of iMovie when I try to share a movie from a project that is made up of still pictures, one video clip and music.  Have tried to create the movie several times with different formats and continue to get the message.  When I removed all music I was able to create the movie without a problem but when I added the music back, I was unable to create the movie.  I'm using iMoive 11' version 9.0.9
    Thanks.
    Bill

    I'm no expert in iMovie, but I've found that processing memory (as well as sheer hard disk space for the project to 'turn around in') can be a big issue with constructing, editing, and distilling projects in iMovie. I've improved the success by moving 2gb of image files off to an external drive, but only really got moving again on an hour-long project by doubling RAM and again freeing up h/d space.
    Some tunes are also an issue, but if you can see it in the iTunes list to place in your project, it should work okay... Does the project run with any other piece of music, or does just that one tune mess it up?
    Good luck,
    Laura

  • Create executable jar and run it

    hi ,
    I want to create an executable jar file for my Swing application in windows environment and I want to run that jar file by double clicking on it. What should I do?

    I can't beleive I'm saying this given that I didn't like it only 3 months ago but if you change your development environment to Eclipse rather than JCreator/JBuilder or whatever, it saves all that creating manifest files by having one menu item, "Export". You should take a look at minifest files though and at least understand them, they aren't complex at all.
