Creating fill-in forms in Pages

I'm new to Pages. Is there a way to create fill-in forms similar to what I created using the Developer tab in MS Word?

Adobe Reader Touch does not support form filling yet.  We are working on it for a future release this year.
For Surface RT running the Windows RT operating system, I believe that Microsoft Reader is the only application that provides limited support for form filling as of this writing (July 31, 2013).  Unfortunately, Adobe Reader XI (desktop app with classic UI) is not compatible with Windows RT.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • How to create fill-in form using "Pages".

Is there a way to create a standard form where the document starts with text that cannot be edited.  Then, the user, could use a tab to fill in information.
ie.  A template of a fax form where the tab is used to fill in changable date, (phone #).

AFAIK, Pages does not support this. To create forms, you can try Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office, OpenOffice or NeoOffice. (Be warned, it is not simple in any of them).

  • Can I create a fillable form in Pages and then PDF to iWeb?

I'm a teacher and I'd like to be able to upload some PDF documents for my students to download, but would LOVE it if I could make sections of the document available for them to fill out answers, so they could, in turn, save as PDF and send back to me!
    Is this possible?
I know how to get the documents into iWeb and that is working fantastic.
But I don't know how to create an area on a page that students can write in. Do I have to maybe do the whole thing in PDF Writer (never used it but have heard that it might have that capability).
    THANK YOU!

But my problem is that i want to export my Pages' page directly to iweb to put it as a podcast. I'm working for an association that wishes to make all the content on itunes...
Ummm.... I know a lot about podcasting, but to my knowledge there is not a way to "embed" a document in a podcast episode. The XML specifications do not do that. However, in the content of an "enhanced" podcast, you can link to a document which can be downloaded while "viewing" the podcast. For an example of that, see my podcast episode:
    http://spot.pcc.edu/~dleighto/podcasts/psy201a/episode20080117133153-0800.m4b
If you go to about 29:30 in the podcast, and have opened the artwork/video viewer, you will see a link at the bottom of the viewer pane to download the file. That file, however, is stored separately from the podcast episode. In iWeb, you would set that file up on a downloads page. Then in the podcast episode, you specify the path to access the file. When the user clicks on the link in the viewer, it downloads the file.
Is that what you want to do?

  • Please help...How do I save a created fill in form so it is usable by all?

I scanned and saved as a PDF a document that needs to be filled out.  I opened it and created the fill in form and saved it to our shared file.  However no one can use it unless they have the full version of Adobe installed.  What do I need to do so it can be filled out by anyone even if they only have the reader?  Please help need the brownie points with the boss.
    Thanks

Open the document in Acrobat and select: Advanced > Extend Features in Adobe Reader
This is for Acrobat 8 & 9. In Acrobat 10, it's an option under: File > Save As...
But be aware that there are licensing restrictions for such enabled documents. In short, if you distribute the form to more than 500 recipients (as you do when you post it to a publicly available web site, for example), you may collect data form no more than 500 instances of the form that has been returned to you, including hard copies. If you distribute it to fewer than 500 recipients, you can collect data from an unlimited number of returned forms.

I have created a fill in form in Word 2011 and protected it as required but PC users cannot fill in the boxes.  Any one had experience creating these forms? Is there another step i have to take?

  • I need to create a form on my website that viewers fill out and send to me on my iWeb created website. Is there a template or widget that can create fill-in forms?

I need to create a form that viewers can fill-in and send back to me from my website.  I created the website in iWeb and would like a template or theme that has the form creator included.  It there a widget?  Sorry, I'm a novice.

If you want to raise your web design skill level above that of the average iWeb user, you can try creating your own. The actual form layout is fairly easy if you use CSS to style it since the amount of HTML is minimal now that table layouts are a thing of the past.
Here's some examples of forms created in iWeb...

The formmail.php script is probably the hardest part to get your head around and the example provided in the download on the above page uses a very simple one along with a formmail-thank.php.

Nowadays we need to consider mobile device users more and more so forms need to have the special inputs required to launch the various types of keyboard on these devices.
Here's an example of a form which responds to browser/device width. On mobile devices, the
jQuery UI Datepicker disappears to be replaced by the mobile version.
For those of you who don't have a mobile device to test it on, this page also has illustrations of the various keyboard types and the alternative date pickers...

<p>Read this article and go to chapter 2.3.2.</p>Inserts, Update and Delete orders are managed by a stored procedure. In the sample dialog, the Select is handled by the emp_pkg.emp_query() stored function:
PROCEDURE emp_query(emp_data IN OUT emptab) IS

        CURSOR empselect IS
SELECT empno, ename, job, sal, comm FROM emp

           ORDER BY ename ;
...For Insert and Update events, use the crypt() function in the related stored procedures.
      PROCEDURE emp_insert2(t IN emptab) IS
      BEGIN
        FOR i IN t.first..t.last LOOP
INSERT INTO emp (empno, ename, job, sal, comm)
         VALUES(crypt(t(i).empno), crypt(t(i).ename), crypt(t(i).job), crypt(t(i).sal, t(i).comm));
         END LOOP ;
END emp_insert2;Idem for the Update procedure.

  • How do I create an electronic form

Is there a way, yet, to create an electronic form in Pages?

No. Other than to export as a.pdf and convert that to a form with Acrobat Pro.
Word's form ability relies on people having a comaptible version Word, which not everyone does and is bad practice in my view.
The Acrobat method at least lets you get the free Acrobat Reader to fill it in and it also works well with databases to collect the results filled in.

  • Using acrobat 9 pro to create a fill in form

I am really new to acrobat 9 and need help.  I am trying to create a fill in form from a word doc converted to pdf.  When I convert to pdf I lose control of my access to change tables that were created in word and also not all fields are recognized so I end up adding in fields.  No big deal except down the road if I need to make any changes I have to go back to the word doc make changes, reconvert to pdf and individually tweek each field.  There has got to be an easier way create a fill in form.  Any suggestions?

No magic here, but keep in mind that you can replace a page of a pdf (Document > Replace Pages) and have the form fields remain. Think of the fields as on a layer above the page. When you replace a page in this way, you at least will not have to recreate the fields you added. You will still be able to move fields around and add or delete fields as necessary to match your new layout.
If your form changes significantly and frequently, you may want to consider using Adobe Live Cycle Designer. I believe it is installed automatically with Acrobat Pro. Much steeper learning curve, though.

  • I am currently having trouble with an attached PDF fill-able form created in Acrobat being non savable in Reader

Hello, I was wondering if you would be able to help me out?
I am having trouble with my attached PDF fill-able form, I am creating a form that has a limit of one page so in order for more room in a certain field I have added a Hyperlink to an additional fill-able(secondary) form within the Parent document (primary fill-able form. The secondary form is inserted as an attachment into the Primary form. My problem is when I open this document up in Adobe Reader, the Primary fill-able form is savable but the attached Secondary form for which the hyperlink leads to is non-savable and is a must print only. Is there a way to make the Secondary form savable as well within the same document? or is there another way I could execute what it is I am trying to achieve?
Trying to save other as extended reader has not worked, also if I save the attachment file as an extended reader first I am unable to attach a return hyperlink back to the Parent document,
Help would be greatly appreciated please and thank you!

I can't say for certain without looking at the actual PDF but it does appear that they created one large text box over multiple lines. For a fillable form it may have been smarter to remove the lines and create a box with smaller text that supports multiple lines.
At any rate, nothing you can do about it with the free Reader (and depending on the security, maybe nothing with Acrobat either.)

  • I've created a PDF form using Adobe acrobat. I created the forms from a PDF that I made using pages

I've created a PDF form using Adobe acrobat. I created the forms from a PDF that I made using pages and word on Mac running Mountain lion. How do I allow the user of the form to insert JPEG files when filling out the form and how do I allow the user to add more fields or groups of fields as needed.

The type of form yo're describing is possible if you create it in LiveCycle Designer. It may also be possible in Acrobat, but there are certain restrictions. The type of form is known as a dynamic XFA form. LiveCycle Designer is not available on the Mac, so you'd have to install the software on a Windows machine and learn how to create this type of form. The LiveCycle Designer forum here is a good resource for getting more help.
Reader 11 now supports creating new pages using templates with a form that you create in Acrobat (Acroform). This requires some JavaScript programming. It also adds support for using a button to display a page from a PDF, which can be an image or anything else a PDF can be. So the user would click a button, be prompted to import a page from an existing PDF, and the button (or a different button) displays it as its icon. This would require the user to convert the image to PDF first, which is relatively easy these days (e.g., using Preview on the Mac, or Word on Mac/Windows). This too involves a bit of JavaScript programming, but it's very simple and straightforward.

  • How to create a PDF form which can be filled out and saved with change by end user

I am using Acrobat 8.0 - Mac - and want to create a PDF with text form fields. Simple one page file. The end user needs to be able to fill out the text form fields and SAVE those changes. so far they can fill out the fields but can not save the file with changes.

After the uproar from Users about Standard being little more than Apple's Print to PDF; there hasn't been a Standard version for Mac since version 6. So many people were use the features in Acrobat 5  to create Forms that could be filled out by Reader. when the bought 6 Standard they were ready to hang the CEO of Adobe in effigy. When 7 came out is was Pro only.
    I'm confused.
The current version of Acrobat comes in Standard, Pro, and Extended Pro versions. Only the Pro version is on the Mac. But that doesn't mean that the Mac community wouldn't have wanted the Standard version of Acrobat.
The Standard version is hardly a mimic of Apple's Save to PDF. The most important features of Standard is to enable Rights in Reader as well as add comments, form fields. etc.
The only thing that Standard does do are the pre-press and production features of Pro.
However, given the difference in price ($450 vs. $300) there is ample reason for business on the Mac OS to buy Standard--if they could buy it.
    I didn't say PC users.
I should have said Mac users. Because the Print system and sytem by which Mac users view anything is based on the PDF engine. The Mac sytem can do anything Standard Standrd could do. although in order to placate Adobe the pdf engine used is a version or two behind. If the Mac OS could do everything Acrobat could do there would be no reason for Adobe to provide Acrobat Or Reader for Mac.
And you basing your assumption of what Standard can do a PC. Standard on Mac is basically Mac's Print to PDF  wrapped in an Adobe Package. It shad no ability to confer rights to reader (that didn't come to Acrobat Mac until Version 8) and was unable to to create forms. The current version of Acrobat PC comes as Standard, Pro, And extended. There never has and never will be an extended pro version for Mac (that adds the ability to create XML based forms) They don't have the interest. To adobe is little more than a Play toy. Because Windows has so much clout They can dictate what they want. Apple not so much. One advantage Mac does have is that Forms creator is built in. on PC its an adon (it free but an addon or was).
Now back in OS 9 days and Acrobat 5.x Acrobat for Mac and PC were equal. except to have the print press features Mac users had to pay an addition $200.00.  (It exactly as you described in your last sentence - except Acrobat 5.x without the printpress and The Acrobat 5 without Print press was $299.00 and $499.00 with Print press.) I know I've used Acrobat since version 3.

  • Is there a way to create a PDF form that ANYONE can fill out and SAVE with their content?

Is there a way to create a PDF form that ANYONE can fill out and SAVE with their content? By anyone, I mean someone who can download and use the free Adobe Reader, on either a Mac or PC. I have Acrobat Pro, and would like to be able to create forms that can not only be filled out and printed, but saved and emailed, which is not an option with the forms I have created to date. They can be filled out, but not saved, with Adobe Reader.
    TIA,
    Nancy

To do what Dave indicated you need to do, it depends on what version of Acrobat you have:
Acrobat 8: Advanced > Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader
Acrobat 9: Advanced > Extend Features in Adobe Reader
Acrobat 10: File > Save As > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Additional Features
Acrobat 11: File > Save as Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools (includes form fill-in & save)
I wonder what it will be next time?
