Creating hidden columns in tables?

I want to create a table, with 2 hidden columns that I can enter names, tel#'s, when in edit mode. When it is published they won't show, however, when I go into edit - I can read the clients names. Possible?

Hi Don,
do you think about something like that?

  • How to create  hidden column in Oracle Table

    Hi folks
    i have one doubt regarding hidden column creation in Oracle Table..
    Let me briefly explain my requirements.
    I have one table called UWRMC_MAST is table contain the following columns
            RMC_N_ID           NUMBER(10)                    NOT NULL,
           COB_N_ID           NUMBER(2)                      NOT NULL,
           SUBCOB_N_ID     NUMBER(2),
           RMC_C_CODE      VARCHAR2(10 BYTE)         NOT NULL,
           RMC_C_NAME      VARCHAR2(100 BYTE)       NOT NULL,
           CREATED_N_BY   NUMBER(10)                     NOT NULL,
           CREATED_D_DT   DATE                              NOT NULL,
           MODIFIED_N_BY  NUMBER(10)                     NOT NULL,
           MODIFIED_D_DT  DATE                              NOT NULL,
           RECORD_N_STS   NUMBER(1)                      NOT NULL,
           RMC_C_REMARKS VARCHAR2(256 BYTE),
           EFFECT_D_DT     DATE                           NOT NULL
    RMC_N_ID is primary key
    i want to create one column like Old_EFFECT_D_DT as virtual column
    when ever i update the effective date that date should be insert into Old_EFFECT_D_DT i.e., Virtual Column
    For example
    SQL> select RMC_N_ID, COB_N_ID, SUBCOB_N_ID, RMC_C_CODE, EFFECT_D_DT from uwrmc_mast;
      RMC_N_ID   COB_N_ID SUBCOB_N_ID RMC_C_CODE EFFECT_D_
            46          1          74 PCTMOTR    02-FEB-11
    Below i update the effective date(01-feb-2011
    SQL> update uwrmc_mast
      2  set EFFECT_D_DT = '01-apr-2011'
      3  where rmc_n_id =46;
    1 row updated.
    But i want a result like below
    SQL> select RMC_N_ID, COB_N_ID, SUBCOB_N_ID, RMC_C_CODE, EFFECT_D_DT from uwrmc_mast;
      RMC_N_ID   COB_N_ID SUBCOB_N_ID RMC_C_CODE EFFECT_D_   OLD_EFFE
            46          1          74 PCTMOTR    01-APR-11   02-FEB-11Is this possible to do in oracle , kindly give a solution for my requirement

    Regards,
    ArunWell, I'm not sure exactly what your requirement is.
    If you want to audit changes to the records of that table then it would be better to use Oracle's auditing facility. If this previous change date is really a required part of your actual application functionality then you might use the application itself to maintain the previous date as a column in the table, as you say, or if you need to maintain the history of changes then add a new table so you can keep track of multiple changes.

  • How to identify the hidden columns in table by using af:panelCollection

    Hi,
    We are using af:panelCollection tag for a table to show personalization features. i.e. to hide or disaply colums in the table.
    We also have a print button to print data in the table. the issue is when we hide any column in teble using the personalization feature given by af:panelCollection , we can see the hidden columns also on the page to be printed.which should not happen.
    For printing table we cant use showPrintablePageBehavior coz it prints data on current page only where as we also have Print all data button which should print all data on table which is not visible on scrren due to pagination.
    Using ADF 11.1.1.5.0 and JSF 2.0 . Please help how to capture whci colums are made hidden.
    The code used for printing data is
    <div class="print_data">Print Current Data</div>
    <ahref="printCurrentData.jsp" target="_blank" class="left">
    <img src="print.png" alt="abc"
    width="24" height="22" border="0"/></a>

    There are some things which don't add up here.
    You are using jdev 11.1.1.5.0 which only comes with jsf 1.2, but you are using jsf 2.0?
    Then you are using jsp instead of jsf which are the normal way to go for jsf.
    Can you please clarify on this?
    How is the printCurrentData.jsp setup? Do you have a table on it based on the same iterator as on the visible page with the hidden column?

  • Max columns per tables

    H,
    What is max number columns per table in database express edition ? I have requirement of creating a table with 100 columns but it seems database only accepts table with 94 columns.any way out ?

    Hi Hardy,
    Here's a quote from Oracle's SQL documentation:
    "The absolute maximum number of columns in a table is 1000. However, when you
    create an object table or a relational table with columns of object, nested table, varray,
    or REF type, Oracle Database maps the columns of the user-defined types to relational
    columns, in effect creating hidden columns that count toward the 1000-column limit."
    Where are you seeing the "94 maximum"?

  • Custom table model, table sorter, and cell renderer to use hidden columns

    Hello,
    I'm having a hard time figuring out the best way to go about this. I currently have a JTable with an custom table model to make the cells immutable. Furthermore, I have a "hidden" column in the table model so that I can access the items selected from a database by their recid, and then another hidden column that keeps track of the appropriate color for a custom cell renderer.
    Subject -- Sender -- Date hidden rec id color
    Hello Pete Jan 15, 2003 2900 blue
    Basically, when a row is selected, it grabs the record id from the hidden column. This essentially allows me to have a data[][] object independent of the one that is used to display the JTable. Instinctively, this does not seem right, but I don't know how else to do it. I know that the DefaultTableModel uses a Vector even when it's constructed with an array and I've read elsewhere that it's not a good idea to do what I'm trying to do.
    The other complication is that I have a table sorter as well. So, when it sorts the objects in the table, I have it recreate the data array and then set the data array of the ImmutableTableModel when it has rearranged all of the items in the array.
    On top of this, I have a custom cell renderer as well. This checks yet another hidden field and displays the row accordingly. So, not only does the table sort need to inform the table model of a change in the data structure, but also the cell renderer.
    Is there a better way to keep the data in sync between all of these?

    To the OP, having hidden columns is just fine, I do that all the time.. Nothing says you have to display ALL the info you have..
    Now, the column appears to be sorting properly
    whenever a new row is added. However, when I attempt
    to remove the selected row, it now removes a seemingly
    random row and I am left with an unselectable blank
    line in my JTable.I have a class that uses an int[] to index the data.. The table model displays rows in order of the index, not the actual order of the data (in my case a Vector of Object[]'s).. Saves a lotta work when sorting..
    If you're using a similar indexing scheme: If you're deleting a row, you have to delete the data in the vector at the INDEX table.getSelectedRow(), not the actual data contained at
    vector.elementAt(table.getSelectedRow()). This would account for a seemingly 'random' row getting deleted, instead of the row you intend.
    Because the row is unselectable, it sounds like you have a null in your model where you should have a row of data.. When you do
    vector.removeElementAt(int), the Vector class packs itself. An array does not. If you have an array, when you delete the row you must make sure you dont have that gap.. Make a new array of
    (old array length-1), populate it, and give it back to your model.. Using Vectors makes this automatic.
    Also, you must make sure your model knows the data changed:
    model.fireTableDataChanged(); otherwise it has no idea anything happened..
    IDK if that's how you're doing it, but it sounds remarkably similar to what I went thru when I put all this together..

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you want to customize a table to display the list items.
    We can write CSS to customize the table style(background color, highlight, hover).
    The following is an example for your reference:
    Code:
    <style>
    #TermList table {
    border-collapse: collapse;
    margin-bottom: 2em;
    width: 100%;
    background: #fff;
    #TermList td, th {
    padding: 0.75em 1.5em;
    text-align: left;
    #TermList th {
    background-color: #31bc86;
    font-weight: bold;
    color: #fff;
    white-space: nowrap;
    #TermList tbody tr:nth-child(2n-1) {
    background-color: #f5f5f5;
    transition: all .125s ease-in-out;
    #TermList tbody tr:hover {
    background-color: rgba(129,208,177,.3);
    #TermList .HiddenColumn {
    display:none;
    </style>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.10.2.min.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    $(document).ready(function () {
    ExecuteOrDelayUntilScriptLoaded(getAllListItems, "sp.js");
    $("#TermList tbody").click(function(e){
    //get hidden column value
    var hiddenColumn=$(e.target).parent().find(".HiddenColumn").text();
    alert(hiddenColumn);
    function getAllListItems(){
    var listName="CustomList01";
    var context = new SP.ClientContext.get_current();
    var web = context.get_web();
    var list = web.get_lists().getByTitle(listName);
    var query = SP.CamlQuery.createAllItemsQuery();
    allItems = list.getItems(query);
    context.load(allItems);
    context.executeQueryAsync(Function.createDelegate(this, this.getSuccess), Function.createDelegate(this, this.failed));
    function getSuccess() {
    var ListEnumerator = this.allItems.getEnumerator();
    while (ListEnumerator.moveNext()) {
    var currentItem = ListEnumerator.get_current();
    var itemID=currentItem.get_item("ID");
    var name=currentItem.get_item("Title");
    var email=currentItem.get_item("Email");
    $("#TermList tbody").append('<tr><td class="HiddenColumn">'+itemID+'</td><td>'+name+'</td><td>'+email+'</td></tr>');

  • How to create a multi-line table/column comment

    Can someone tell me how to create a multi-line table or column comment?
    Apparently, the concatenate operator (||) does not work with the COMMENT statement.
    I've searched the Oracle manuals and couldn't find an answer.
    COMMENT ON TABLE sometbl IS 'i would like to break up this comment into several lines in order to improve readability'; Effectively, this is what I'd like to do (but it doesn't work):
    COMMENT ON TABLE sometbl IS
      'i would like to break up ' || CHAR(10) ||
      'this comment into several lines ' || CHAR(10) ||
      'in order to improve readability' || CHAR(10); Oracle version is 10.2.0.4

    Why not just
    SQL> create table t (a int)
    Createtable successfully completed.
    SQL> comment on table t is 'i would like to break up
    this comment into several lines
    in order to improve readability'
    Commenton successfully completed.
    SQL> select * from user_tab_comments where table_name = 'T'

  • How to create New columns for the Internal Table Dynamically?

    HI Guys,
                          In my logic i have to create new columns depending on the logic which i am executing.
    My requirement is .I have to display o/p like this
    Material || Year || Period  ||  Mix ratio || Vendor ||Mix Ratio || Vendor || Mix Ratio Vendor || Mix ratio || Vendor || Mix ratio.............................from table's CKMLMV003 and CKMLMV001.Her i have to display the o/p in the above format and i have to display Vendor and Mix Ratio for 5 columns irrespective of data .If i have more than 5 columns for any record then i have to create a New columns dynamically for Vendor and Mix ratio.If anybody want my code i can Submit But plz tell with example how to do?
                    <b>The O/P must be finally shown in ALV Grid</b>
    Thanks,

    You must create the entire internal table dynamically, you can not add columns to a statically define internal table.  Here is an example of creating a dynamic internal table.

  • Creating Column in table or use Foreign Key

    I have a bunch of tables that are year specific, so I need to store the year in the record. I'm not sure if I should create a column in each table called 'year' or create a master 'Year' table and use a foreign key to it in all my other tables. Any advice?
    PK_ID NUMBER Constraint pk1
    PRIMARY KEY
    YEAR VARCHAR2(4)
    --- or----
    PK_ID NUMBER Constraint pk1
    PRIMARY KEY
    FK_YEAR NUMBER Constraint fk_year
    REFERENCES year_table(PK_ID)

    Does your "year" entity have any attributes ?
    Why do you have a year, which to most people seems to be a number, stored as a varchar2(4) ? And what are you going to do about the Y10K problem ?
    How about making the ID of year the numeric value of the year you are storing - then you have eat your cake and have it ;)
    Seriously, though, why do you want a table to say that the year 2008 is the year identified by a meaningless unique number ?

  • Tabular Form: Conditional column based on another column in table/form?

    Hi!
    I have 4 columns in table A:
    number (the question number)
    question (the question to be asked)
    type (TEXT, LOV are the 2 valid values)
    answer (the answer with text or a selection from the lov table below)
    I have 2 columns in table B:
    number (the question number)
    values (a single value for the lov's)
    In table B there can be mutiple rows for each number. Table A and table B
    join on the number.
    I want to build a tablular form on table A where for each row either a text
    box or a select list is displayed depending on the contents of the type column.
    So row 1 would display a text box when the type value is text; row 2 would
    display a select list when the type value is lov.
    Is this even possible? How do I refer to the type column in the conditional for the
    answer column? I am guessing that I will need to have 2 answer columns one
    that displays when the type column is TEXT and one that displays when the
    type column contains LOV. This is OK. Setting up the conditional is display is the issue at this point.
    Hopefully I have explained this well enough! :)
    Thanks!
    Dave Venus

    Hi Dave,
    Sorry for not responding sooner - I finish work at 3pm GMT.
    I'll take your first question first (3:28PM posting according to my display - not sure if you are on GMT time?):
    As far as I understand it, using the select_list_from_query() function generates the options that are required in the select list as HTML tags. Each instance of this function should create a SELECT tag and the results of the query should generate one or more OPTION tags within it.
    Second question (4:20PM posting):
    The HTMLDB_ITEM functions are listed in the documentation - here's a link to the online version:
    http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14303/api.htm#sthref2524
    Most of the examples that I have seen have been on this forum - simply search for HTMLDB_ITEM or one of its functions.
    I tend to leave the generation of tabular forms to the wizard as much as possible. The only exceptions are when I need to have access to more than the Primary Key for a row but don't want to show the field on screen. There are examples on the forum about concatenating the HTMLDB_ITEM functions into a single value - this hides ID fields from the user but makes them available to PL/SQL code.
    Third question (5:29PM posting)
    I did try using DECODE in my questionnaire but not for the feature that you needed. Originally, I wanted to use this to display one of a number of different fields (ie, my date, number or string field as appropriate to the question) but this didn't help as I couldn't get back to the right field during the update. If you have decode working for the select lists, then that's great!
    The first column should be hidden or sitting behind a checkbox as this should be the Primary Key for the row and should not be editable by the user nor would it normally be displayed.
    As long as your select statement creates the correct output (albeit that you may need to work on the layout!), you should have an updatable form. However, you will need to have the MRU processes in place and the appropriate buttons that trigger these. When I did my questionnaire, I created the form using a wizard to get all of the processes and buttons and then changed the select statement. If you haven't got the processes and/or buttons, we can go through adding these onto your page.
    Last question (9:08PM posting)
    As explained above, column 1 should normally be hidden. The INPUT tag you detail above is what I would expect to see. The value="6" attribute indicates that 6 is the Primary Key for that row - every row will have the same tag but different values for the "value" attribute. So, if it is hidden and these are the tags you see doing a View Source on the page, then everything is correct.
    OK. So now we have the data on screen and (hopefully?) we have the correct processes and buttons on the page.
    The next step would be validation and update of the data.
    Validation of the data can be handled by a normal page process - I can let you have example code if you want to validate the data (this will also explain how to loop through the rows - there are also methods that you can use to do this in javascript if you want). Updates should be handled by the processes and buttons on the page - again, if you haven't got these we can go through adding them in (although, if you haven't yet formatted your page, you may find it quicker to copy your select statement and create the page again using the same select statement).
    ORA-20001 errors are user defined errors. Do you mean the "data has changed" errors? If so, you will probably need to include the MD5 checksum functionality (it's shown in the document linked above).
    Finally, we'll keep this thread going so that you have all of your workings and my responses in one place, if that's ok with you?
    Regards
    Andy

  • How to create a column where each subsequent entry is added to the former?

    How does one create a column, inside Numbers, where each subsequent cell is added, in value, to the preceding cell above it? For example, a column could be labeled "credit card subtotals for the month." In the first cell, one might insert a dollar value, eg., $24.00. The next credit card charge might be $100.00 and that would be added to the $24.00 to create a running subtotal.
    Thank you.

    Hi Jay,
    Both formulas are written as they would appear entered into C2.
    The 'special formula' is also written as it would appear in C2. Where I have used 'formula for C2' substitute your choice of the two formulas listed above the 'special formula' in my earlier post.
    If you choose to use the first version, the finished 'special formula' will look like this in C2:
    =IF(LEN(B2)>0,SUM(C1,B2),"")
    Jerry's remarks regarding using conditional formatting to suppress the display of zeroes is well taken, but in this case, will not work as there are no zero values to be hidden.
    In this case, either of the initial formulas will repeat the last 'running balance' in every cell from the last row containing an entry in column B to the bottom row of the table.
    The formula checks, by counting the number of characters displayed, whether an entry has been made in the column B cell on the same row as the formula (B2 in the example in this post. IF an entry has been made, the formula calculates the sum of that entry and the previous running balance. IF no entry has been made (ie. there are no chanracters displayed in B2, the calculation is skipped, and the empty string ( "" ) is placed in C2, giving the appearance of a blank cell.
    Example:  the formula in this post is used in column C. Column D uses the core of that formula (with the C1 reference replaced by D1) without the IF statement. Both formulas are filed down to the bottom cell in their columns. Note the difference in rows 7 and below:

    Barry

  • How to make hidden columns shown on Fusion Audit Report.

    I have several questions about Fusion Audit Report here:
    1.  How to create Business Object Attributes, the seeded ones can't meet client's requirement.
    2. I can see from the audit report that, there are 10 columns hidden, how to show them? someone said to export the report, then hidden columns will show, I tried, it is not working for me.
    3. How to set date range as parameters.

    Hi,
    1. The creation of business object attributes depends on the customization options available to you. In summary it's really only Design Time Customization (JDeveloper) or Application Composer that permit business object attribute assition. Check out this document for details.
    https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E51367_01/fa_lcm_gs/OADTC/fa-cust-extend-intro.htm#OADTC157
    2. Do you mean in the Configure Business Object Attributes?  Does the View menu on the table not allow this?
    3. Use the Date dropdown and pick Between.
    In addition, please review the following resources related to using the Audit report.
