Creating Installation Packages

Not sure if this is the correct forum, but I'll give it a shot anyhow.
I have some software I've developed on the Mac (for the Mac, of course). I'm looking for a piece of software to create installers (you know, like how Windows has Installshield). I'm very unfamiliar with software to create software installers for the Mac. Anyone know any good software out there or can recommend some web sites to get me going?

There are a couple of third-party utilities available. Search MacUpdate or Version Tracker. The user-submitted reviews accompanying the listings can be helpful in sorting the wheat from the chaff.
Iceberg is highly-rated. I've not personally used it, but if I was looking for a third-party solution, I'd try it based on the reviews.
You can also use XCode's PackageMaker to create packages for Mac OS X's Installer. See the Apple Developer Connection document Software Delivery Guide.

Hi all
we have developed some ABAP objects on R/3 4.6c.Is there a way by which i can convert my developments in to a installable package(copy it on a CD) much similar to the support packages supplied by SAP to its customers.Since the target system will be any R/3 system, how is it possible to convert it in to a patch like package.
please enlight me how i should proceed..

Put them into a transport, release the transport - but don't import it anywhere.
The cofiles that the transport creates will be on your SAP box in the SAPTRANS directory. Copy these to your CD and you can install them as a transport from another system by importing through STMS.
Hope this helps.
(Alternatively you can use a download utility - like the ones from Dalestech - to download all of your objects and load them into the target system).

Help! Installer packages create my user folder

I'm trying to install packages on remote computers. I created the package on my desktop. When I go to install it using ARD, it creates a new user with my name and installs the application under my user. I need to install the application under the main applications folder, not in a new user folder. Wht do I do?

It sounds like you've created the package to install to "your desktop". In PackageMaker, under the Configuration tab, you probably need to set the Default Location to be /Applications.

I am trying to update ITunes from 10.4 to 10.5 I have tried from both the program, and from a download on Apple's website. Regardless, I get the following error messages: (1) Installation package for iTunes cannot be found. Try installing to find the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in a folder from which you can install iTunes. I can't find this folder. I have tried to completely unistall iTunes through the Control Panel, but it wouldn't let me: I tried going directly to the files themselves, but cannot uninstall. Any help would be greatly appreciated. System OS: Win XP SP 3.

Set the permissions for Everyone in the folder in which CCPackager created, to "Read/Write" enabled. This is strange since there is only an administrator account on the Mac (and that account already has read/write), but it seems to resolve the issue.

I purchased and downloaded Acrobat Pro XI. After the pop-up requesting the language I got a message "The installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists..."

The full message was "The installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify this is a valid Windows Installer package."

OK, I got around this error by extracting the files to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe Acrobat XI"
Now I get a different error "1325.kstanwood is not a valid short file name". I'm not certain why it's even trying to create such a file name.

If you are not already doing so, install from an Administrator account.
If you haven't already done so, download the iTunes Installer from:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Then right click on the installer and select "Run as Administrator." (Even though you are using an admin account).
If that doesn't work, try creating a new administrator account and installing from there.

Firstly make sure you save it to your hard disk, and then run setup from there.
If it doesn't help, you may also try to unregister Windows Installer, and then reregister Windows Installer and check if it helps. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Press Windows Key + R
2. In the "run" box, type "msiexec /unreg", and then press ENTER.
3. Press Windows Key + R
4. In the "run" box, type "msiexec /regserver", and then press ENTER.
Besides that, You could try to create a new user to download and install the application.

Alchemy 1.43.01 and 1.43.06 beta link to installer packages.

I was browsing the ASUS ftp site and found a driver package for the "onboard x-Fi". I was curious to see what was in it since it was quite a bit newer then the packages available from Creative.
I unzipped it and found that the only thing that looked newer was Alchemy.
In order to install it in the ASUS packed, you have to run the main installer which doesn't even create shortcuts for some reason.
I did a search and found a working alchemy .43.0 installer package.

I am trying to restore/design few SSRS reports in my PPS Dashboard Designer 2013. On my process I got the error "Failed to load the appropriate report editor" and to rectify it I tried installing the SqlSysClrTypes.msi on my machine (32 bit). But
while installing, got the error "The Installation package is not supported by this processor type". kindly help me in getting link for downloading the correct version on the add-on.
