Creating java objects

     private double commission;
     private double sales;
     SalesRep(String i, int a, double c, double s){
          id = i;
          areaCode = a;
          commission = c;

class Q3{
     public static void main(String[] arg)throws IOException{
          Scanner in = new Scanner(new FileReader("salesrep.dat"));
          SalesRep []s = new SalesRep[100];
          String line = in.nextLine();
          int count = 0;
          while(!(line.equals("xxxx"))){
               s[count]= new SalesRep(in.next(), in.nextInt(), in.nextDouble(), in.nextDouble());
               count++;
               line = in.nextLine();
          }//end while
     }//main
}//classI am trying to read the text file below, I know what the problem is but I cant figure how to solve it.
d5456654 4 0.5 600 567 456 345 789 890 678 456 345 890 567 456
r4564656 6 0.04 789 789 567 789 467 890 567 789 456 678 456 890
t6786889 2 0.01 567 345 678 345 678 890 567 345 678 789 456 789
xxxx
The problem is I have to read in the 12 sales figures for each month of the year. Do I declare an array in the SalesRep class?
When I am reading, from the file how do I separate the other variables from the 12 sales figures so that I can read them into the file?

public static void main(String[] Args){
          // create a 300-element array and a 300-element list
          int[] arr = new int[300];
          java.util.ArrayList<Integer> arr2 = new java.util.ArrayList<Integer>(300);
          for(int i=0; i<300; i++){
               arr2.add(0);
          // get each value in the array
          long t0 = System.nanoTime();
          for(int i=0; i<300; i++){
               int x = arr;
          long t1 = System.nanoTime();
          // get each value in the list
          long t2 = System.nanoTime();
          for(int i=0; i<300; i++){
               int x = arr2.get(i);
          long t3 = System.nanoTime();
          // print the times
          System.out.println("d0: " + (t1-t0) + "; d1: " + (t3-t2));
     }Results:
d0: 12561; d1: 52240
d0: 12840; d1: 51520
d0: 12760; d1: 51600
d0: 12200; d1: 52600
d0: 12240; d1: 52241
The ArrayList is about 4x slower in these cases. I switched the test order (list first, array second) and got the same results.

  • Create java objects from xml

    I want to create a tree structure for java object. These java objects are populated after the parsing the xml. But what could be the logic for adding child to parent when there are

    Hi
    I recommend you use the API JAXB. Is much simpler.
    here a link: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/articles/javase/index-140168.html
    here a example: http://download.oracle.com/javaee/5/tutorial/doc/bnbay.html#bnbbc

  • Tool to create Java Object classes using the Database Tables

    Hi,
    Is their any tools or utility available to create the Java Object Classes using the Database Tables as input.
    Lets Say I am having the Employee, Employee_Salary tables in the Database.The utility has to create the Java Object classes with the relation.
    Please Help...
    Thx..

    Hm, for generating regular Java classes I wouldn't know one from memory. But I suggest you start searching in for example the Eclipse marketspace for a third party plugin that can do it. If all fail, you could always use Hibernate Tools from the Jboss Tools Eclipse plugin set to generate Hibernate/JPA entities and then strip the annotations from them to turn them into regular POJO classes.
    How many tables are we talking about anyway? It might be less effort to just create the classes with properties and then use an IDE to generate getters and setters for them.

  • Can't create Java Object in ASP

    Hi:
    I'm attempting to incorporate a Java class that uses the following packages into an .ASP page
    import java.security.*;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.net.URLDecoder;
    import java.util.*;
    import javax.crypto.*;
    import com.sun.crypto.provider.SunJCE;
    After compiling the file, registering with javareg.exe, and copying it to \winnt\trustlib\, I attempt to view the .ASP page and get the following:
    Error Type:
    Server object, ASP 0177 (0x80040111)
    ClassFactory cannot supply requested class
    I believe I need to reference various .JAR files, either when I use javareg.exe or within the .ASP.
    Can anyone offer any insight into what the ClassFactory might be expecting?
    Thanks,
    Joel

    I am repeatedly getting the following error:
    Server object, ASP 0177 (0x80040111)
    ClassFactory cannot supply requested class
    I have checked my classpaths, and the paths do include the one that the class does reside on. In a reply posted by somebody earlier it was mentioned to check whether it was on the ASP classpath. What is this classpath?
    Thanks for your help. This is very frustrating as it should be working!

  • How to create new java objects in native methods?

    Hello,
    Is it possible to create java objects and return the same to the java code from a native method?
    Also is it possible to pass java objects other than String objects (for example, Vector objects) as parameters to native methods and is it possible to return such objects back to the java code?
    If so how can I access those objects (say for example, accessing Vector elements) inside the native code?
    What should I do in order to achieve them?
    Regards,
    Satish

    bschauwe is correct in that constructing Java objects and calling methods on Java objects from native code is tough and takes some study. While you're at it, you might want to check out Jace, http://jace.reyelts.com/jace. It's a free open-source toolkit that really takes the nastiness out of doing this sort of stuff. For example,/**
    * A C++ function that takes a java.util.Vector and plays around with it.
    public void useVector( java::util::Vector& vector ) {
      // Print out all the contents of the vector
      for ( Iterator it = vector.iterator(); it.hasNext(); ) {
        cout << it.next();
      // Add some new elements to the vector
      vector.addElement( "Hello" );
      vector.addElement( "world" );
    } All this code just results in calls to standard JNI functions like FindClass, NewObject, GetMethodID, NewStringUTF, CallObjectMethod, etc...
    God bless,

  • Dynamically create Value Objects from XML file

    Hi
    I want to create a value object from Xml file dynamically,like in the xml file i have the name of the variable and the datatype of the variable.is it possible do that,if so how.

    Read about apache's Digester tool. This is part of the Jakartha project. This tool helps in creating java objects from the XML files. I am not sure, if that is what u r looking for.

  • JOB (Java OBject) plug-in

    Hello --
    I recently downloaded the JOB (Java Object) plug-in, that, according to the plug-in documentation is will:
    JOB is an Extension that creates Java Objects for underlying Oracle Database Objects. This Extension uses the package, source directory and other Oracle9i JDeveloper Project information and creates the source code in the appropriate source directory with the appropriate package name from the project.
    Has anyone gotten this to work? I have the plug-in installed, and it appears to function, but I can't find the java files it generates anywhere.
    Thanks,
    Donn Aiken

    I have same problem.
    Per doc:
    1, Copy job.jar to the $JDEV_HOME/lib/ext directory
    2, Enter the package name for the Value Object in the JDeveloper Projects Package Area
    3, Enter the Source Directory in the JDeveloper Projects Source Code Area
    But where is the JDeveloper Projects Package Area? Where is the JDeveloper Projects Source Code Area?
    Much thanks for nay help!

  • Convert MBox into XML into Java Objects

    Hello all,
    this is a general question, i dont know weather there is such libs or not.
    However, please tell me what you know.
    i want to program a java application for searching purpose in Mbox.
    i thought its possible and easier to try to convert the emails from the MBox into XML files, and from these create java objects when i need or even convert the XML into html for viewing.
    Any suggestions are welcome.
    Also antoher solutions are greate.
    thanks in advance!
    Sako.

    I don't know what this MBox you speak of is - I assume it's not the thing I use to hook upa guitar to GarageBand. Maybe you mean it as a generic term for mailbox? The easiest solution (to my mind) would be to use a Java API provided by whatever MBox is. If there is no such thing, then if you get XML-formatted version of the messages I suppose writing code to parse the XML into Java Objects would be a good option if you wanted to do further manipulation of them, but if all you want to do is display them as HTML in a browser then just use XSLT to transform them.
    Good Luck

  • How to force OTT generating  java objects?

    I've read in an Oracle white paper that Oracle has an Object Type Translator (ott) utility that creates java objects from object type definitions in the database. In my installations of Oracle 8.1.7 and 9.2i my ott utility only supports output of C structures (though in ott.exe present such strings as "public void...", "throws SQLException..."). Does anyone know how to force ott.exe generating java objects?

    OTT can generate C structures or C++ classes from object definitions. You should look at JPublisher for Java classes.

  • How to create and instance of Java Object from an XML Document.

    Hi,
    How can we use a XML Document to create an instance of Java Object and do vice versa ie from the Java Object creating the XML Document.
    XML Document is available in the form of a String Object.
    Are there helper class available to achieve this.
    I need to do this in a Servlet.
    Regards
    Pramod.

    JAXB is part of JavaSE while Xmlbeans claims full schema support and full infoset fidelity.
    If the standard APIs do all that you need well then use them.

  • How to create a Java Object dynamically

    I want to convert a "DataObject (SDO) " into "Pure java object".
    For this i want to create a java object with the fields in Dataobject, and this should be in generic way.

    I want to convert a "DataObject (SDO) "What is a "DataObject (SDO)"?
    into "Pure
    java object".What is a "Pure java object"?
    For this i want to create a java object with the
    fields in Dataobject, What is stopping you? Do you not know how do define a class? Do you think you can add fields to the Object class? If that's what you mean, you're out of luck.
    and this should be in generic
    way.What do you mean "in generic way"? "Generic" is a very generic term. There are lots of contexts in which it could apply and lots of different possible meanings for "generic way."
    You'll have to explain your queston more clearly.

  • Java.lang.NullPointerException errors when creating an object in Int.Build.

    We are on XI 7.0 AIX 64bit
    When we try to create an object in Integration Builder we get following errors:
    Internal Problem Occured (Internal Problem)
    java.lang.NullPointerException
    I have seen similar topics reported. They pointed to problems with SDK 1.4.2_10
    We have downgraded our Java 64 on AIX from SR6 back to SR5. So I guess we are back on SDK 1.4.2_2 (in AIX versions are slightly different and the version of SDK is shown as 1.4.2.75 as oposed to previous 1.4.2.100)
    Unfortunately downgrade of JAVA did not fix our problem. Did anyone managed to fix this? This is pretty much stopping us from doing anything on XI:(

    Hi Robert,
    For the same issue I follwed as below.Hope to sort out this problem.
    1)check after installing J2sdk1.4.2.13(you are with 1.42.75(might be some problem with upgrade version.I am not sure)
    2)Restart the J2EE engine.
    3)check the post installation steps again.
    Atlast, I solved this problem after Re-doing the post installation steps and above 2 process. I am not sure from which process it was resolved.
    Regards
    Sridhar

    Hi,
    I have created a tree structure on the left side of the page and a table on the right hand of the page. My requirement is that when I click on the node on the left side, the table on the right needs to be refreshed. For the time being the tree nodes on the left side is just one level. Eveytime I click on the node, I get the following error

    Please can you let me know how I can resolve this issue.
    Thanks

    Hi, I have rechecked this issue. In the bug they say that Big Integer should be changed to Big Decimal to resolve the issue. I checked my application and saw that there is no Big Interger. Please can you guide me further.

  • Y in java objects are created on heap only and not on stack ??

    Hi ,
    I need a answer to the question " why all the objects are created on heap only in java and not on stack " ?
    In java a object is created when we specify new i.e. for example,
    consider the following cases.
    1.
    Vector v = new Vector();
    here object is created and the reference to this object is assigned to variable v. okie.
    2.
    when i write something like
    Vector vec ;
    Here i am creating reference variable for Vector. No object is created and no seperate memory is allocated for it. Reference variablesa are stored along with other primitive variables on the java stack.
    My question is, in C++ by writing case 2 i can create an object and it is creating this object on stack. So why in java object is not created on stack while i do like this ? Why in java objects are created on heap only ?
    If my question is out of interest of this forum i apologize for it. But if somebody can throw some light on it, it would be of great help.
    Cheers !!

    Hi
    I asked this question just to understand how compiler and jvm cud have been designed......i.e. to know the philosophy behind designing language.......
    now what i cud surmise is that if objects were to be stored in stack then on calling garbage colllector , it may delete some unused obj and unreferenced object(unreachable object) and this in turn may give rise to non-contagious areas in stack, thus nullifying the garbage collector's objective of freeing the the memory. Again deallocating that intersperse spaces into one free block of space will be bit troublesome task.....
    So considering above factor the designer of jvm and java compiler have opted for storing objects on heap rather than stack.....
    If u have something to say bout this.......pls go ahead.......
    Cheers !!
