Creating job to listen to single consumer queue

i have code that will allow a job to listen on a queue for a mulitple consumer queue but was wondering how to change it for a single consumer queue. The code i currently have for the multiple conusmer looks like this
     DBMS_SCHEDULER.DEFINE_METADATA_ARGUMENT(
          program_name => 'P_ToDBlocking_Implement'
          ,argument_position => 1
          ,metadata_attribute => 'EVENT_MESSAGE'
     dbms_scheduler.enable('P_ToDBlocking_Implement');
     DBMS_SCHEDULER.CREATE_EVENT_SCHEDULE (
          schedule_name =>      'S_ToDBlocking_Implement'
          ,start_date =>      systimestamp
          ,event_condition => 'corrid=''NOTIFY'''
          ,queue_spec => 'event_msg_q');
Maybe i am thinking about this wrong how could i get a consumer in a single consumer queue to listen to the queue and process all queue that come in?

Why don't you step back, post your full version number, and explain what the business process is. In other words what it is you are trying to achieve.
When discussing business processes you don't write code. You don't name methodologies. You say things like.
An end user adds a new row into a table and when that happens I want a job to run .... or something like that.
Without a context any answer is pure guesswork.

  • Simple single consumer dequeue

    I want to ensure that a single process is the dequeing client. Can I just submit a job with a dequeue in an infinite loop? The dequeue will just wait by default for a message to be enqueued at which point it will dequeue, process and loop back looking for another message. Is this a standard kind of approach? If I need another dequeue process, I just submit another one of these dequeue jobs in an infinite loop to be a second processor. Any similar approaches used to ensure only "X" number of messages are being worked on at a given time? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Have you considered using a single consumer queue?

  • Retry counts on multi consumer queues in Java

    Is there a way to get the retry count of a message that has been dequeued from a multiconsumer queue? I believe we were able to access the retry count of a message on a single consumer queue, but when dequeuing from a multiconsumer queue, the retry count field is not filled with a value.
    Can this be done?

  • Internal Error ORA-0600 when creating multiple consumer queue table

    Hi,
    I tried to create a multiple consumer queue table with the following statements:
    exec DBMS_AQADM.GRANT_TYPE_ACCESS ('system');
    create type Change_History_Trigger_Data as object(Col1 VARCHAR2(255), Col2 VARCHAR2(128), Col3 VARCHAR2(255), Col4 TIMESTAMP, Col5 VARCHAR2(64), Col6 VARCHAR2(64), Col7 NUMBER(8));
    Works fine till this stage. But the following statement produces an ORA-0600 internal error message.
    EXEC DBMS_AQADM.CREATE_QUEUE_TABLE ('change_history_queue_tbl','Change_History_Trigger_Data', 'tablespace my_tblspace','ENQ_TIME',TRUE,DBMS_AQADM.TRANSACTIONAL);

    I tried creating the same queue table with Multiple consumer = FALSE, and it works fine. But not with multiple consumer = TRUE

    Any possible solutions?

  • Can position be created with out creating Job..

    Hi Experts,
    A simple question but quite complicated.
    Can position be created with out creating the job. ( yes it will give the warning and create).
    Here my actual question comes, what is the need of creating the Job. when we can create position without job in general Scenario.
    Is it compulsory to create job whenever we create position.
    Your replies are highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Dollly

    Hi Dolly,
    I definitely aggree with what guru Sikindar mentions.
    One more point:
    SAP advises to create separate positions for each of the employees in your organizational structure.
    For example, there may be a hundred "Engineer" positions in your company (with codes: 50000001, 50000002, ... 50000100).
    At this point, when you're asked to take a report of all of the "Engineer"s in your company, then you need to enter all these position codes into the selection screen : Nearly impossible scenario!
    However, if you had linked all of these positions to a single job named "Engineer" and numbered "50000000", then you would be able to find all the positions linked to this job and all the employees holding these positions by entering a single object ID and evaluation path in the selection screen of a particular report.

    It just forks a process or a thread, and that's it.And the listener is a single point of failure. Listener goes down, you can't connect to the db. That's why you need two listeners.If listener one goes down, then listener two goes down for exact same reason since it is a single executable file.I'm not playing tit-for-tat with you. Fact is, there are situations where people who are not you might want to use more than one listener.Some folks might want to jab a sharp pencil into their eye, too.
    Just because you can do something, it does not necessarily mean it should be done.

  • My photosmart c410 pauses ~ 1 minute before finishing the last page of a job - also on a single page

    I have a photosmart c410, set up as wireless.  On the last page of a print job, printing stops with about 1-2 inches to go on the page, then waits around 1 minute and finishes.  A single page job does the same thing.  During this time there are no errors visible, the printer and print queue indicate the job is printing.  When finished, the print looks fine.
    Is there a way to get it to finish without the delay?  I tried the print diagnostic utility.  It says jobs are stuck in the print queue during the delay time.  The "fix" can't clear the problem and just says "reboot".  After the print job completes, every thing reports as OK.
    UPDATE:  11/9/11 - HP Customer service (on chat screen) walked me through diagnostics, identification and solution to problem.  The person was extremely patient and helpful - it took almost an hour, but the printer is working properly now.

    I've kept investigating this further.
    I've now found that this is a cache management issue.
    I found that the cache options (Tools-Options-Advanced-Network ).
    The Cache file on Firefox was set to a limit of 350 MB and the Cache was using 350 MB of storage.
    I tried clearing the cache.
    After I cleared the cache I found that when I had loaded a web page after I shut down Firefox and restarted and went back to the tab it loaded the web page as it had been the last time I visited.
    This suggests that the problem I was encountering was that the cache was full and that rather than clearing out old content from the cache that once the cache filled up Firefox stopped writing new data to the cache.
    I also note that the button labelled "Override automatic cache management" was ticked. That would tend to suggest that Firefox was being told not to delete old content when the cache filled.
    I've now unticked the "Override automatic cache management" box and will see how I get on.

  • PL/SQL Callback registered on multi consumer queue takes 6 seconds to call

    Registered a PL/SQL callback procedure on multi consumer Queue. if I enqueue message into queue, it takes 6 seconds to call PL/SQL callback procedure.
    Why does it takes 6 seconds ?
    I believe Queue submits DBMS Job to execute the Callback. I am not sure why it is taking 6 seconds to execute the callback.
    are there any configarable parameters to set which allows callbacks to be executed more frequently?

    You can try to change jobqueue_interval=1
    This is a scan rate interval (seconds) of job queue parameter.
    it is 5 sec by default.

  • Stop MDB from listening to a JMS queue

    Hello,
    From time to time we would like to stop the processing done in our application.
    The processing is started by onMessage() in MDB. Is it possible to tell the MDB
    to stop listening
    to the JMS queue or stop the delivery of messages by JMS ? We do not intent to
    stop the processing of messages that have already started by only to stop processing
    of further messages (the ones still in the JMS queue).
    We are using 6.1SP3.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Eric Poupaert,

    If you can tune the number of messages that should be sent to the MDB to 0, that would
    temporarily stop the MDB from consuming messages. Thsi is the "Messages maximum"
    parameter on ur connectionfactory. WL6 doesnt support changing this value to 0 but there
    were some newsgroup discussions last year that it might be supported in a future
    release. Maybe its fixed in 8?

    Increase parameter streams_pool.

    Hi Pat,
    What is your SBO version? I've seen several cases in which the login/connection procedure (both in the client and via DI API) has become much slower after upgrading to SBO 2005.
    Do you experience the same slowness when connecting via DI API in a non-WebService setting?
    I would not recommend using DI API in a web service context in the first place. DI Server would give you a much more robust, stable and scalable infrastructure to build upon.
