Creating MetaChain step by step

Hello Experts,
I am creating separate process chains for MD Attribute, Texts, Hierarchies and transaction data load. I want to put all the chains under one metachain so that process will start one after the other from one location.
Can some one explain how to create metachain and how to include other chain inside metachain step by step please? I will definitely award points and appreciate your help.
Any suggestions on modelling or if you have any document, please send me at [email protected]

Here is my step what I did:
1. Created 4 process chains PC1, PC2, PC3 & PC4 using option 'Start Using Metachain or API' for ATTR, TEXT, HIER and Transaction Data. Added Attribute change run end of PC1 and PC3.
2. Created another process chain MC using option 'Direct Scheduling' which would be metachain and will be scheduled for data load one by one.
3. Now I want to include PC1, PC2, PC3 & PC4 inside MC. Am I going to right direction?
After that is the problem where I stuck. If I drag and drop say PC1 under MC, it brings the whole chain. Is it correct or it should ask me to add only the Variant name for PC1?
Where are the options General services and schedule? I can't find it.

Hi,
SAP limits the number of fields that you can use for substitution. If you want to use a field that SAP does not make available for substitution, you have to modify table GB01.

Creating Domain step fails while trying to install OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.5)

Hi Everyone,
I am really stuck at a point from where I do not know which route to take. I am trying to install OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.5) on my Windows 7 (32-bit) laptop. I have tried all the options:
1. Simple Install
2. Enterprise Install
3. Software only install (after installing Weblogic 10.3.4.0 separately)
Everything goes well till the step Bi Configuration->Creating Domain.
In this process whenever it reaches the stage when it tries to start Node Manager, it starts getting java exceptions and fails. It typically occurs when it does not find the nodemanager.properties file and tries to save the configurations there. It then encounters a Fatal Error.

After this it hangs for a long time before finally coming up with Node Manager Server Timed Out error and finally the Creating Domain step fails.
One thing that I have noticed is that whenever it tries to create the nodemanager.properties or write to it it encounters this error and hence the nodemanager.properties file is also not getting generated.
I have ensured that there are no spaces in the TEMP and TMP paths. I even tried creating and putting the nodemanager.properties file in the location but that too does not work.
Strange part is that when I install Weblogic separately and have nodemanager as a windows service, then with the nodemanager.properties that I created the windows service runs, but the OBIEE installation still fails.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

My problem is "creating domain is failed". I guess that the issue with windows 7 32 bits on laptop doesn't configure and run nodemanager. I tried to start nodemanager but don't work (with weblogic scriptinf tools WST). However, Weblogic run ok but nodemanager is inactive. Also it doesn't create nodemanager.propierties. If I create a file nodemanager.properties (or I copied on directory obiee_home\ws_server_10.3\common\nodemanager) obiee installer configures its parameters pre-configured (if I modify a parameter, the installer modify it a default value and I don't know where is these parameters and its definition).
I have installed obiee simple and enterprise and it don't work. I have installed on oracle 11g R2 (desktop and enterprise with datawarehouse) and obiee installer doesn't work. Further this installation obiee delay an hour and then generates error in my case "creating domain is failed".
I'm going try to run install obiee 11.1.1.5 on windows 7 xp mode.
Important: We need help of oracle experts or Oracle communicates if obiee installs or not on windows 7 32 bits laptop because We have wasted

According to your description, it seems that your all Windows 8.1 computers connect to network via normal wireless network.
Did you have wireless router for them?
Please delete this adhoc, then check if these computer could connect to network.

For PostUUT in the NI teststand II courese example 4-1 Modifying callback.seq, there are two steps, one is Test Passed,
the other is Test Failed, both set each preconditions, for example, Parameters.Result.Status == "Failed" in the test failed step, if the step failed in the main sequence,the string "failed " is filled into Parameters.Result.Status
but I can't find where the string "failed" is created in steps in the main sequence.
Because I can't find any expression in any steps to fill into Parameters.Result of the test failed step in the PostUUT.
In fact, when running if step fails, the string "failed " is filled into Parameters.Result.Status
Would you please explain for it ?

Hi,
Look at the Sequential Model Sequence File, and either the sequence SinglePass of Test UUTs for the step that invokes the step Post UUT.
Then look at the Parameter List for the SequenceCall for that step. you will find your answer.

I have a create index step in process chain for a infocube. The Create Index step is takes more time. The requests in this cube are rolled up and compressed. The batch process are also avaliable. But still the create index step takes more time. Any suggestions to reduce the time of create index step?

If you have more Data in Cube then it will take some time..check any Dumps in ST22 and SM21. Ask Basis Team any Error messages in DB02 and check.
Else goto to RSRV
Tests in Transaction RSRV --> Database --> Database Indices of an InfoCube and Its Aggregates
Give Cube name and execute it and see the errors then if any RED color, ckick on Repaire Icon and see.

Creating a Step for Background Job from within ABAP Program

Step-1: I have a Report in ECC, which is scheduled as Background Job, which writes the file to the Application Server(UNIX)
Step-2: Trigger a Unix Command to ftp the file to other server.
Both Step-1 & Step-2 can be done from SM36.
Another Scenario:
Users can run the report in background from SE38 or using the transaction code for the report, In this case we want to call the external command.
Instead of calling the External Command as below in the report, I want to create a Step from within the program when it is scheduled in background mode.
CALL 'SYSTEM' ID 'COMMAND' FIELD lc_unixcom. [ Here lc_unixcom has the External Command ].
Any ideas??? Appreciate help.

Hi,
For submitting a report step, you may use either SUBMIT ... VIA JOB ... or JOB_SUBMIT function module.
For external commands, this should be done only by calling JOB_SUBMIT function module.

actually when i restarted the configuration the test passed for create domain but it went on to fail in the apply java required file step

How do you get past the create partition step? Trying to indtall Windows 7 using Boot Camp 5

Trying to install Windows 7 on a MacBook Pro with Mavericks. Currently run Win7 using VMware but experiencing poor performance and lockup. Have tried to use Boot Camp but cannot get past the 'creating partition' step. The blue bar shows some progress (about 10%), but then after some time it produces a generic error message thst it cannot create the partition.

Hold the option while turning on the computer. You should see your statup drives. Just choose the OS X drive and eject your disc once in OS X.

Anyone create a step list for a Win 7clean install for a W500?

I am currently compliling all the drivers I anticipate I may need (although Win 7 will probably load most of them automatically). I have read a few threads about performing a clean install on a W500. Has anyone created a step procedure and the drivers that will be necessary? Thanks in advance.

SAP BPC installation - Errors during setup in the create database step

Hi! I have a real big problem installing SAP BPC. It's a Microsoft multi-server installation.
I've got two servers: 1) the database server with the SQL Database and Analysis Server 2) the application server with all the rest.
I log on and I installed everything on the servers with a specific domain user: this user is administrator on both servers and even on SQL Server.
My problem occours when I execute the "SAP BPC setup" on the application server: during the "create database" step I receive two errors:
first error pop-up:
Error ([SQL-DMO]This cache contains no result sets, or the current result set contains no rows.)
second error pop-up:
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Cannot open database "ApShell" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user MyDomain\MyUser
After the SAP BPC setup:
- in the SQL Database Engine the ApShell database was created
- nothing for ApShell was created in Analysis Sever
- in the Even Viewer of the database server I've got this error: Login failed for user 'MyDomain\MyUser'.
It's very strange because if from the application server, using "SQL Server Management Studio" (always with 'MyDomain\MyUser'), I connect to the database server: I can login, create and delete databases on the SQL Database Engine and even on Analysis Server without any sort of problem.
To complete my status, I can say you Analysis Sever is on the default port. I use SQL Server 2005 and I even tryed to reinstall it and SAP BPC but nothing change.

Problem during BPC installation
1) At first I tryied this solution:
Into multiserver installation guide is specified that actually in case of multiserver environment you have to copy apshell.db9 file from installation kit into db server. Into a drive from where SQL server is able to read when you are doing restore with Management Studio.
During the installation you have to go into advance options and to specified the path (local path from db server where you did the copy of apshell.db9).
but nothing change: the "SAP BPC setup" problem I have still persists.
2) Then I tryed this workaround:
If so, you can try a "restore appset" from server manager. Rename the Apshell.db9 file (or copy it) and name it Apshell.bak
During server manager restore, point only to the Apshell.bak file. Server Manager will tell you that webfolders and filedb files are missing, but it found the webfolders and filedb (again, only if the original bpc installation successfully created those folders)- and then it will try to restore Apshell.
That may work in spite of whatever problem is keeping the installation program from performing the same tasks.
but the "restore database" fails > I've got the error written in red: OLAP database - fail
What can I do to solve the problem? If it is necessary, I can reinstall SQL Server and SAP BPC but I need to know the way to solve the setup error.

Thanx very much to everyone for the kind support. Unfortunatly, my problem persists.
- SQL server is EE.
- I installed SQL server (including SSAS) using MyDomain\MyUser.
- MyDomain\MyUser is windows administrator on both servers.
- MyDomain\MyUser is SQL Server and SSAS administrator.
- SSAS service is running under the same service account than the SQL Service.
- All my MSSQL services runs as Local System.
- I'm installing SAP BPC using MyDomain\MyUser.
- I also checked the SSAS service account specific rights to the SSAS data folders.
SAP BPC installation still fails exactly as above (popup errors during SAP BPC setup, no ApShell etc. etc).
In the database server, windows event viewer errors after the unsuccessful installation are:
1) SOURCE: MSSQLSERVER
Failure Audit: Login failed for user MyDomain\MyUser
2) SOURCE: MSSQLSERVER
BackupDiskFile::OpenMedia: Backup device 'MyPath' failed to open. Operating system error 5(Access is denied.).
As regard as point 1: The Failure Audit error into the event viewer happens only during SAP BPC installation. Otherwise it is always Success Audit.
Also, as I told you, if from the application server I connect with SQL Server console to SSAS, located on the database server, using MyDomain\MyUser: I can create delete SSAS dbs without any sort of problem.
For point 2:
I tried 4 differents SAP BPC installations as follows:
- to go into advance options and to specified the path (local path from db server where I did the copy of apshell.db9).
- to go into advance options and to specified the path (local path from application server where is the copy of apshell.db9).
- to go into advance options and to specified the path (network path of a share folder with apshell.db9 and permissions to everyone)
- to don't go into advance options and to don't specify the path.
but every time nothing change: the "SAP BPC setup" problem I have during my initial post still persists. In the same way I written at the beginning of the topic.
I don't know how to solve it.

How do I create a "step" style animation? For certain movements, I don't want a smooth transition. I want position A to jump to position B immediately at the appropriate marker in the Timeline, not a gradual movement from point A to point B. Thanks in advance!

just create keyframes with your displayobject positioned and do not using tweening between the keyframes. or use actionscript and a timer to change the object's position.

How to create a step loop control in a screen

Hi,
Basically, what I need to do is to create a fully dynamic screen. I want to send the structure name and the fiednames and the function will create a screen will all the required fields.
I explored many possibilities and the best one seems to be using the step loop control in a screen. I know, this is really old technology but I do not care as long as this work great !
I saw that the function group MASSFREESELECTIONS is doing it, this look pretty simple, fast and fully dynamic...
My only problem is that I'm not able to create a step loop control in a standard screen.... is it an obsolete function that was removed from the control list ?

STEP LOOPS
Step Loops are type of screen table . Step loops are repeated blocks of field in a screen. Each block contains one or more fields and these blocks are repeated. Step loops arent like actual table. You can scroll vertically but not horizontally. Three steps are associated with creation of step loops:
Creation of step loops on screen, which includes declaring fields on the screen and then defining the step, loops for these fields.
Passing data to the step loop is exactly similar to the passing of data to table controls.
In step loop, you dont need to define the step loop as such in the module pool program but the cursor needs to be defined in the program.
Types of Step Loops
Static Static Step Loop (SSL) have fixed size that cannot be changed during the runtime. If user resizes the window, the size of the static step loop is not changed.
Dynamic Dynamic Step Loop (DSL) is variable in size. When the user resizes the window, the system increases or decreases the number of the step loop blocks.
You can have only one dynamic step loop and can have as many static loops in your transaction.
Programming with the Static and dynamic step loop is exactly same. For the system or for the user it doesnt make any difference whether it is static or dynamic step loop. Only attribute, which you fix during designing of the step loop, is type attribute for step loop F for fixed i.e static and V for variable i.e. dynamic.

LOOP AT statement for step loops and Table controls is similar. Loop At statement transfers the data to screen table. You need to have the Module to assign the values for the screen table.
In module pool program you need to define the cursor.

Cursor parameter tells which line of step loop display should start.
Module Set in module pool program assigns the values to step loop fields, which is similar to table controls.

I am having the following error while installaing SAP IDES system on NW 7 / AIX / Oralce at create database step, last few error lines from sapinst.log , sapinst_dev.log and ora_sql.log ,
