Creating partitions based on date

Hello Friends,
I want to create a table ( x_acc_nnm) with a column x_as_of_dt ( Datatype Date dd/mon/yyyy ) partition on x_as_of_dt.
Want to partition the table on x_as_of_dt based on YYYYMM
appreciate your help.
thanks/Kumar

Hello,
Want to partition the table on x_as_of_dt based on YYYYMMI think that this link may help you in this task:

  • Alter table partition based on date and status

    Hi!
I have a strange scenario where in 100,000 to 500,000 records are created every day and records are to be maintained for 3 yrs. So to manage this table we have it partitioned based on date (so every day one new partition is created). And any partition older than 3 years are to be purged. But the catch is - the table has a 'Creation_date' and 'Close_date' parameter and as per my company's rule, I can only purge the 3 yr old data based on the 'Closed_date'. Basically we end up getting some entries with 'Close_date' that don't fall in the 3+ yr category and hence we just cannot purge the whole partition and reclaim the space.
What would be the ideal way to partition this table to make easy maintenance!?
    eg -
    Table_1: Partition_03152006
    Col-1 Creation-date Col-2 Close-date
    AAAA 03/15/2006 BBBB 03/16/2006 I can drop this entry+
    XXXX 03/15/2006 YYYY 05/20/2006 I cannot drop this entry+
So, I am left with non-empty partitions which I cannot purge completely. Right now, I am moving these remaining entries to another partition and purging them when they complete the 3+yr time period.
Hope I could put in my query properly.
    NOTE: RDBMS - ORACLE 10.2.0.4 on Solaris/SPARC 64Bit
    Thanks in advance,
    Arindam

  • Storage clause of create partition based on last storage value

    Hello,
could you give some advice how could i resolve this problem ?
I have procedure which is executed by job every day, once a day, and what it does, it automaticly add new partitions on one table.
I am now strugling with how to construct statement that will place every new partition in new tablespaces.
I created 8 tablespaces named data1..data8 and for this purpose, so now i am trying to understand how can i perform check in what tablespace was last partition placed and based on that, add new partition in first next tablespace. For example, last was created in data8 tablespace, so next must be created in data1 tablespace.
How can i check that ? Anyone have some suggestions ?
I am currently going with this logic :
    select tablespace_name from
(select * from user_tab_partitions where table_name='partitioned_table' order by partition_name desc)
where rownum < 2 )And with this i get the name of the last used tablespace for the last created partition, but i currently don't know how to use this info further.
Deos someone have some other idea about this ?

    Yes Sean,
i would like this to do bacuse of the tablespace that are created for that purpose, for that partitioned table.
For some reason, they must be used, and by the current logic where that procedure adds new partiotions with default storage option, they can't be used
and all partitions are created in one other tablespace named data.
This is situation on production, and i created similiar test environment.
data tablespace in production will in few days propably be full and intention is to start create new partitions in this way , in those new 8 tablespaces and in some time tottaly leave current and only used tablespace and that is data tablespace.
So i would like to somehow implement storage clause on already fully functional
    alter table add partition
    statement inside that procedure.
Is there some way for that ? That i use that qury i wrote above , and by using that value add on existing statement for create partition storage clause with next in line tablespace ?

  • Table partition based multiple date columns

Hi , I am using Oracle 10G db. One of the source table has 26 million rows. Partition is based on business send date(Quaterly). Now the query that used to load the target table is based on ETL load date. Since the load date is not the partition column, the source query is taking long time to fetch. Can someone please suggest how to include ETL load date in the partition column or if any other way to improve the performance of the source query will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Partition is based on business send date(Quaterly).
Can someone please suggest how to include ETL load date in the partition column
Technically? Sure - just redefine the table (DBMS_REDEFINITION) and partition it on ETL load data.
But someone partitioned on 'send date' for a reason didn't they? Don't you think you might want to find out WHY before you even think about changing it?
The only info you have provided so far is that someone 'thinks' that a single query is 'taking long time to fetch'. That doesn't even mean anything. What is 'long time': 5 seconds, 5 days? How many rows are being fetched out of 26 million: 1, 20 million?
    1. post the table and index DDL
    2. post the query and execution plan
    3. post the command you executed to produce the stats on the table and indexes
    4. post the number of rows for the query predicates
    5. post info about the number of rows in the result set and what you are doing with them

  • Create RFQ based on data supplied by excel document and then create PO

    Hello Experts,
I have an requirement to create following scenario.
    1. User will upload "Requirement Endorsement Sheet "  which contains items and qty in an excel format and this has to be sent to workflow user.
    2. Workflow user must able to create RFQ based on the excel document sent in the first step by auto populating item and item qty fields in RFQ.
    3.  Last step is to create PO based on RFQ created in step 2.
I would like to know whether any SAP standard BAPIs can help to create RFQ adn then using RFQ data create PO.
Appreciate if you can provide some tips for building the above solution.
    Regards
    Krishna

In your 2nd step the User will manually enter and or it needs to be auto populated. If it requires auto population of RFQ I think you can use standard method. Just search for Business object of RFQ by doing a F4 in SWO1.
    Thanks

  • Create condition based on date and time

    Hi everyone,
I'm using Discoverer Plus 10g. I want to create a condition in my worksheet using StageTime (consists of date and time) as the parameter, i.e. StageTime > StartTimeParameter and StageTime < EndTimeParameter.
I am able to create condition based on the date, but unable to create based on the time. I need to limit the data up to the hour, e.g.
    StageTime > 11-NOV-2005 1 AM and StageTime < 11-NOV-2005 3 AM.
But so far I am unable to create a condition for the hour element.
    I try to use this:
    TO_DATE(TO_CHAR(:Start Date Parameter,'mm-dd-yyyy')||' '||:Start Hour||':00:00','mm-dd-yyyy hh24:mi:ss')
Start Date Parameter is selected using the date picker in Discoverer Plus
and the Start Hour is in the format '00' to '23'
but was prompted with the error: ORA-015858 a non numeric character was found where a numeric was expected.
Would really appreciate anyone's help on this! :)
    Thanks,
    Angeline :)

how about, if :Start Date Parameter is of type DATE and :Start Hour is of type varchar2(2) to simply do
    :Start Date Parameter + to_number(:Start Hour)/24
    ?

  • How to create file based on date value

    Hi
Hope you'll help me. I can't find right way to tackle the problem. I need to read a file which name is created based on month and years' value. File name format is as follows: INMMYY.log. So to read it I must create File object using this file name format. I tried to use Calendar class get necessary information using get() method. Unfortunatelly returned month's value is always 2,3,4 and so on..(I need 02,03). There is problem with year's value als. It's returned in form YYYY but I need YY.
Does anybody have any idea how to create string INMMYY in the easiest way ??
    Thanks in advance :)

    Use java.text.SimpleDateFormat.

  • How can I dynamically create symbols based on data in a database? For example: as a user selects an option, we want to create color swatch buttons in a certain area on the screen.

We have all of our data in a Microsoft SQL server database and would like to load fabric options, and then color choices, based on this data. As fabrics are added, and/or color choices are updated, we would like Edge Animate to update automatically, without having to open the project and add/change options. Ultimately we would like to build an interactive designer that would then send all of the user's selections to us in an order. Is this possible?

There is no like, but contains
    contains(LAST_NAME,'A')

  • Partition Question: Archiving Data

I'm purging and archiving data from a table based on date range. During purge process I'm merging partition function boundary points and then removing partition file.
I was wondering what will going to happen if user wants to enter the data which falls under boundary range that I already purged.
For example: I purged data older than 2010 and remove partition file "Inventory_201006" after merging partition function range. After that business user wants to enter data that is for 2008-06-01. Wondering where It would go.
PS: I tried entering older data but got an error:
"The filegroup "Inventory_200806" has no files assigned to it. Tables, indexes, text columns, ntext columns, and image columns cannot be populated on this filegroup until a file is added."
Do I need to mention default partition file group in partition scheme or somewhere else before removing file , so any data older than 2010 should be inserted in that default file group?
    Thanks!
    ZK

Partition always ranges from negative infinity to positive infinity. You apply boundary points through partition function which are applied to table through partition scheme which are applied on file groups.
so, even if you merge the boundary points,  the overall range will not change but the data will move between partitions. Also, instead of dropping the file and file group you could potentially use that as the next file group as you merge the partitions.
     try this example:
--create database with all filegroups needed
    CREATE DATABASE [myPartition]
    CONTAINMENT = NONE
    ON PRIMARY
    ( NAME = N'myPartition', FILENAME = N'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.SQL2012\MSSQL\DATA\myPartition.mdf' , SIZE = 4096KB , FILEGROWTH = 1024KB ),

--check the row counts in each partition
    select row_count,* from sys.dm_db_partition_stats where object_id=object_id('mytable')
i assume, you understand that infinty is not really infinity but the minimum/maximum possible value for the data type.

       where rn = 1
       order by jobdate desc;Thanks,
    -Abe

    Hi, Abe,
You're on the right track, using ROW_NUMBER to assign numbers, and picking only #1 in the main query. The main thing you're missing is the PARTITION BY clause.
You want to assign a #1 for each distinct combination of group_id, path, asset and calendar day , right?
Then you need to PARTITION BY group_id, path, asset and calendar day . I think you realized that when you named this thread "Query Based *on date partition* ".
The next thing is the analytic ORDER BY clause. To see which row in each partition gets assigned #1, you need to order the rows by outcome ('Success' first, then 'Failed'), and after that, by jobdate (latest jobdate first, which is DESCending order).
If so, this is what you want:
    WITH     got_r_num     AS
SELECT  j.*     -- or list columns wanted
         ,     ROW_NUMBER () OVER ( PARTITION BY  group_id     -- GROUP is not a good column name
                                   ,                    path
                             ,             asset
                             ,             TRUNC (jobdate)
                                   ORDER BY          CASE  outcome
                                                 WHEN  'Succcess'
                                         THEN  1
                                         ELSE  2
                                             END
                             ,             jobdate     DESC
                           )      AS r_num
         FROM    job_table  j
         WHERE     outcome     IN ('Success', 'Failed')
--     AND     ...     -- Any other filtering, if needed
SELECT     *       -- or list all columns except r_num
    FROM     got_r_num
    WHERE     r_num     = 1
;If you'd care to post CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements for the sample data, then I could test it.
It looks like you posted multiple copies of this thread.  I'll bet that's not your fault; this site can cause that.  Even though it's not your fault, please mark all the duplicate versions of this thread as "Answered" right away, and continue in this thread if necessary.

  • Creating parameter based on Submit Date from Remedy ITSM

I am new to creating Crystal Reports and I am using Crystal Reports XI. I am pulling information from BMC Remedy ITSM through an ODBC connection. I have created a report from HPD_Help_Desk that pulls the Incident Number, Submit Date, Submitter, Owner and Description. I am not having any problems pulling the information from the tables. The issue that I am running into is creating a new parameter field that can be used so that when the people that will be running this report can pull information based on a date range of the submit date. When the report is run, it pulls the datetime from Remedy ITSM in a mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss format with AM or PM on the end. I have created a parameter named Date Range that has a static list of values. The Type of the parameter is Date Time. The Value Field is Submit_Date. I have selected true for allowing custom values and allowing range values. The objective is to have the person running the report type in the datetime range such as Start of Range Value: 11/22/2009 00:00:00AM and End of Range Value: 11/28/2009 23:59:59PM so that they get all data for Incidents created from the start of the day on the 22nd to through the end of the day on the 28th providing 1 weeks worth of data. I know selection criteria can be used to run for the previous full week, but this will not help if people want to check on historical data. When the parameter is added to the report, it requests the datetime ranges be entered in a yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss format. I have entered in datetime ranges and it will not filter the data. I receive data back for all dates even outside the range requested. I have attempted to change the format of the Submit Date within the report to match what the parameter is asking for and receive the same results. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Thank you for the feedback Carl. Again, I am new to this, so please be patient with me. I am not sure what you mean about adding the parameter to the record selection formula. I have drug the parameter field into the report so that it will prompt for parameters before running, but I do not think that is what you are talking about. Please advise.
To your question about the Submit Date field in the report, when I open up the report and I point at the field for Submit Date the popup shows HPD_Help_Desk.Submit_Date (DateTime). That being the case, I think the answer to your question is that the data type of the data being returned is DateTime. Thanks again for the assistance.

  • Create aging bucket in BEx - based on  date variable

    Hi everyone,
I have a report for which we need to create account receivable aging bucket to classify arrears (1>29 / 30>59 / etcu2026).
Our solution overall architecture is the following :
Source System (SAP) >  BW back end...Multiprovider > Super BEx Query > Universe > Webi Report
    BW 7.0
    BO XI 3.2 SP3.0
In this report, each bucket is defined by the difference between:
    -     the Net Due Date (which is the due date of payment of the invoice)
    -     and the Current Date (date for which the report is run u2013 can be the date of the day or a date in the past)
We can develop this either in BEx or in Webi, but to avoid potential performance issues in Webi, we take the try to develop this in BEx.
As you can easily imagine, this BEx query will be used for many reportsu2026so not only for this specific report.
    What weu2019ve done so far:
1-     We created a variable to prompt the user with the date he wants to run the report for
               - ZTEST is an optional variable, single value, User input, based on characteristic 0CALDAY
2-     We developed RKF in BEx
    -     Key Figure restricted by Amount
    -     Net Due Date restricted by the variable ZTEST using the between function and an offset (to determine the range)
=> When we save the query we are getting a warning message saying u201CVariable ZTEST for characteristic Net Due Date has been converted to a required entryu201D
Why? (you probably knowu2026) Because my RKF is using a variable with an offsetu2026which automatically turn on my variable as mandatory and no more as optional.
    Consequences:
    -     In BEx: My variable, which is required to be optional (because we donu2019t have to have this field as mandatory for each and every report running on top of this query) is now mandatory.
    -     In Webi: If I use the variable (funnel in webi), my report is working fineu2026but if I donu2019t use it in the webi report, I get an error message saying u201Cvalue required for ZTESTu201D
o     Funnel is configured as optional in the universe designer (so the issue is not coming from here)
    => 2 consequencesu2026same issue
Question: What can we do to keep our bucket logic running in BEx and avoid this variable to become mandatory?
    Solutions (potential)
    -     Create a custom exit routine to work around this issue u2013 how?
    -     Create CKF/Custom exit to create our bucket (using ZTEST as an entry value to determine the range) and then use the created range in our RKF to restrict the amount u2013 how? Not so easyu2026
    -     Build the logic in Webi
    -     Any other suggestions?
Here we are, any advice would be really appreciated
    Thank you guys

    Hi peeps,
We finally find a solution for this problem! So I can share it with you.
The overall solution is pretty easy to understand.
1st step is to prompt with the user with a 0DATE variable. The date selected becomes a date input for the next step.
The variables is defined as a range [01/01/1900;variable_value)...in order to retrieve the right data set.
2nd step is to use this date to create our aging bucket, dates range.
To do so, we created 4 user exit variables (for each aging bucket).
3rd step is to use these ranges in RKF.
This way you get aging bucket dynamically defined by the user input pretty cool!

  • Create graph based on dynamic table data

    Hi experts ;
i have JDeve Version 11.1.2.2.0 , i'm create dynamic table based on dynamic SQL query this query return by function in database by based on passing parameter .
    My question :-
1- How create graph based on dynamic table and contral it at run time ?
    Thanks & Best Regards

    Hi Mostafa,
You can retrieve the data from your sql query in a backing bean and pass it on to Graph using the setTabularData method.
Here is the javadoc for the setTabulardata method:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E16162_01/apirefs.1112/e17492/oracle/dss/dataView/CommonDataview.html#setTabularData%28java.util.List%29

  • How to create DB partitioning in active data tables for ods?

    hi all,
Can anyone let me know how to create DB partitioning in active data tables for ods. if any docs pls share with me at my email id : [email protected]
    regds
    haritha

    Haritha,
The following steps will briefly explain you to improve the performance in terms of DB partitioning as well as loading. Please find the same,
    transaction RSCUSTA2,
    oss note 120253 565725 670208
and remove 'bex reporting' setting in ods if that ods not used for reporting.
    hope this helps.

    Symptom
This note contains recommendations for improving the load performance of ODS objects in Business Information Warehouse Release 3.0B and 3.1 Content.
    Other terms
Business Information Warehouse, ODS object, BW, RSCUSTA2, RSADMINA
    Solution
To obtain a good load performance for ODS objects, we recommend that you note the following:
    1. Activating data in the ODS object
In the Implementation Guide in the BW Customizing, you can implement different settings under Business Information Warehouse -> General BW settings -> Settings for the ODS object that will improve performance when you activate data in the ODS object.
    1. Creating SIDs
The creation of SIDs is time-consuming and may be avoided in the following cases:
    a) You should not set the indicator for BEx Reporting if you are only using the ODS object as a data store.Otherwise, SIDs are created for all new characteristic values by setting this indicator.
    b) If you are using line items (for example, document number, time stamp and so on) as characteristics in the ODS object, you should mark these as 'Attribute only' in the characteristics maintenance.
SIDs are created at the same time if parallel activation is activated (see above). They are then created using the same number of parallel processes as those set for the activation. However:if you specify a server group or a special server in the Customizing, these specifications only apply to activation and not the creation of SIDs.The creation of SIDs runs on the application server on which the batch job is also running.
    1. DB partitioning on the table for active data (technical name:
The process of deleting data from the ODS object may be accelerated by partitioning on the database level.Select the characteristic after which you want deletion to occur as a partitioning criterion. For more details on partitioning database tables, see the database documentation (DBMS CD).Partitioning is supported with the following databases:Oracle, DB2/390, Informix.
    1. Indexing
Selection criteria should be used for queries on ODS objects. The existing primary index is used if the key fields are specified. As a result, the characteristic that is accessed more frequently should be left justified. If the key fields are only partially specified in the selection criteria (recognizable in the SQL trace), the query runtime may be optimized by creating additional indexes. You can create these secondary indexes in the ODS object maintenance.
    1. Loading unique data records
If you only load unique data records (that is, data records with a one-time key combination) into the ODS object, the load performance will improve if you set the 'Unique data record' indicator in the ODS object maintenance.
    Hope this helps..

  • Creating Partitions in Existing tables with Data

    Hello everyone,
I want to know what the best way of creating partitions, in tables having data, is .. ???
    thanks
    Rossy Rocs

    There are two ways :
1a Create a new Partitioned Table
1b Copy data from the existing table to the new table
    1c Create Indexes
    1d Rename old table
    1e Rename new table
    OR
    2 Use DBMS_REDEFINITION
