Creating processess in java

I have a java program which continously checks the data base for a field called schedule time ,if schedule time is equals to current time then it has to do some other process, this process should run always so what might be the best solution for this.
I have a performance bottleneck here because every time getting the connection
please suggest any solutions....

You need to use what's called a connection pool.
The connection pool opens up a number of connections and keeps them open - because opening and closing connections to the database takes a long time.
Connections pools are now part of the latest JDBC API. So check whether your JDBC driver supports the JDBC 2.0 API, and then whether your servlet engine supports connection pooling. I've got JRun 3.1 and it supports connection pooling, for example.
If your driver doesn't support the JDBC 2.0 API, then there are good third-party alternatives that do the connection pooling for you. I got mine from Alan Williamson's book on Java Servlets. He's written a very concise class that does the job beautifully.

    Hi,
    Anybody knows How to save report in PersonalCategory  after creating it using java panel?
    I dont want to save it in public folder. I want to save report (webi) in user's personal category.
    can anybody send me source code?

    Thanks in advance
    Amol Mali

    Hi teda,
    i'm assuming that you have seen my post that i did successfuly save report in user's personal category.
    Actually the report is created in webi java panel using RE SDK and  is saved in Report Sample Folder then i'm saving it in user's personal category by following code
    string query = "Select SI_PERSONAL_CATEGORIES From CI_INFOOBJECTS Where "
                         + "SI_INSTANCE=0 And SI_ID=" + reportID;
                    InfoObjects infoObjects = infoStore.Query(query);
                    InfoObject infoObject = infoObjects[1];
                    Webi wreport = (Webi)infoObject;
                    ObjectRelativeIDs personalIDs = wreport.PersonalCategories;
                /personalIDs.Add(Convert.ToInt32(categoryID));
                   infoStore.Commit(infoObjects);
    But the report is presents in the Folder also and in user's personal category also.
    I dont want the report to be in the folder (Report Sample) if i saved it in user's personal category.
    How can i do that?
    any idea.
    Please help me.

  • Help with creating an animated java applet...

    Hello, everyone! I'm working on a homework assignment for my Intro to Java class, and I'm having a problem I've never run into before. My assignment is to create a animated Java applet which displays an image of an alien spaceship which travels in diagonal lines across the applet area. My main problem is that when I try to compile my code, I get three "cannot find symbol" errors about my variable "alien." I can't figure out why declaring it as a class variable hasn't solved my problem. The errors pop up for the repaint() method, as well as the pane.add and the paintIcon. Here's my code:
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import javax.swing.Timer;
    class DrawAlien extends JPanel
    public class Alien extends JApplet implements ActionListener
      ImageIcon alien;
      public void init()
        Container pane = getContentPane();
        alien = new ImageIcon(getClass().getResource("alien.gif"));
        pane.setBackground(Color.black);
        pane.add(alien);
        Timer timer = new Timer(30, this);
        timer.start();
      public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e)
        alien.repaint();
    }I've only posted the section which I think is relevant to my problem, but I can post the rest if anyone thinks it's necessary.
    I'm aware that the code isn't ready yet in several other ways, but I don't think I can move on until I figure out what's up with the "alien" variable. I don't need anyone to write code for me or anything like that, I just lack perspective here. A couple hints in the right direction would be invaluable. Thanks!

    You can?t add ImageIcon into pane, you can do like below.
    alien = new ImageIcon(getClass().getResource("alien.gif"));
        pane.setBackground(Color.black);
        JLabel label = new JLabel(alien);
        pane.add(label);

  • OWS-00102 Reason for not creating a custom Java type: simple or mixed conte

    Hi ,
    I am generating the java proxies from a WSDL file in Jdeveloper and I am getting the below warning.
    WARNING: OWS-00102 Mapped {http://xmlns.fmr.com/systems/dev/aar/requests}ViewRequestStatusResult to javax.xml.soap.SOAPElement ViewRequestStatusResult. Reason for not creating a custom Java type: simple or mixed content is not supported.
    I have tried using Jpub as well, but it does not work as well.
    I am very new to JAVA and It seems some java code needs to be created. can any one please help me how to resolve this issue.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Vineet

    var cResponse = app.response({
    cQuestion: "Enter the section number to appear in the stamp.",
    cTitle: "Section Number",
    cLabel: "Section Number:"
    if (cResponse == null) {
    event.value = '*INVALID*";
    else
    event.value = cResponse;
    You can only remove the 'Warning JavaScirpt" is by creating a special application folder script for the 'app.response' method that uses the 'trustedFuncton' to suppress this security warning. Then in you form, you will need to test for this function and either issue a warning about the missing function or run the 'app.response' code and live with the warning. Each system will need the special application folder script installed on it.

    Hi,
    I have planned to do a project using java,that will help to create reports for java programs. To create reports for java programs i used two options.
    1)Crystal reports
    2)Write the code to produce reports for each java programs
    The second one little cumbersome.SO i planned to develop a software that is compatible for creating java reports.
    I would like to know how i will do the project?Can you help me to made it a successful project.Hope you can help me.
    Expecting your reply
    PreethiRenjith

    Uggg... Crystal reports...
    I would personally write a generic report generator, It would probably be easier than fighting w/
    crystal reports (CR is popular, but painful :) )
    Anyhow, I've written report generators for many different applications. It is one of the simplest projects you
    can take on, and the results make you feel special --
    If your need nicely formated, portable, printable reports, you could have your report generator make PDF files (the format is open, and VERY simple, plus people like pdf files) you can get the pdf spec from adobe or from wotsit.org (the famous wotsit file format archive).
    enjoy!

  • How to create command line java client

    I have a java servlet FileClient.java and am invoking it thru POST method from the html file. How can I create command line java client so that I can execute this class file from windows command prompt.
    e.g. java FileClient <argument>
    TIA

    > .. there's also a "won't work".
    I could post a sample...I know that you can instantiate and call aservlet,
    or even write your own servlet container - butit's
    still a local instance. He can't invoke his remote
    servlet by calling its class on the client like he
    suggested.HttpURLConnection in main.Only if his Servlet has a main method. Which wouldn't really make it a servlet anymore.
    OP said he wants to invoke it from command-line using
    java -cp . TheServletClass
    He said he has a servlet called FileClient. And he can't invoke a servlet directly that way, without building a wrapper that starts it, making it more than a servlet, and it definitely won't execute on the server. That's my whole point. I never wanted to say you can't write a command-line program that invokes a servlet on a remote server. I do it myself after all.
    I guess I should have expressed myself more clearly.

  • Creating a simple java client for a session EJB local interface

    Hi all
    Is it possible to create a simple java client for a session ejb local interface with JDeveloper.
    The problem is that it creates a test client for a remote interface only...
    i.e.
    MySessionEJB sessionEJB = context.lookup("MySessionEJB")
    and once i try to adjust it manually for the local interface...
    MySessionEJBLocal sessionEJB = (MySessionEJBLocal) context.lookup("MySessionEJBLocal") (MySessionEJBLocal - is the name of my local interface)
    it generates the exception:
    javax.naming.NotFoundException: SessionEJBLocal not found
    at...........................(RMIClientContext.java:52)
    There is still no problem with accessing the local interface object from the jsf project where i've added <ejb-local-ref> tag into the web.xml file.
    but i need the possibility of testing the simple java client for the local interface to test business methods wich should return objects without indirect properties
    Thanks in advance.
    Alex.

    Pedja thanks for reply.
    I still dont understand what is wrong with my example.
    The first peace of the code i wrote (getting the reference to the remote interface object) works pretty well, and even more it is produced automatically by JDeveloper, so why we cant get a reference to the local interface object the same way?
    Certanly we should use the local interface for getting access to the resource functioning under the same local jvm and i think it doesnt metter wich app server we really use wls or oas or others
    Thanks. Alex.

  • How can i create messenger with java tv API on STB

    deal all.
    how can i create messenger with java tv API on STB.
    how can Xlets communicate each other?
    how?
    i am interested in xlet communications with java tv.
    is it impossible or not?
    help all..

    You can create a messenger-style application using JavaTV fairly easily. JavaTV supports standard java.net, and so any IP-based connection is pretty easy to do. The hard part of the application will be text input, but people have been using cellphone keypads to send SMS messages for long enough that they're familiar with doing this. This doesn't work well for long messages, where you really need a decent keyboard, but for short SMS-type messages it's acceptable.
    The biggest problem that you need to work around is the return channel. Many receivers only have a dial-up connection, ties up the phone line and potentially costs people money if they don't get free local calls. Always-on return channels (e.g. ADSL or cable modem) are still pretty uncommon, so it's something that you nee to think about. Of course, if you do have an always-on connection then this problem just goes away.
    This is really one of those cases that's technically do-able, but the infrastructure may not be there to give users a good experience.
    Steve.

    Can I create threads inside Java Stored procedures?
    or is there a restriction?
    Thanks
    Kal Hi Kal,
    I don't mean to be rude, but have you tried it? Personally, I
    haven't tried it (since I didn't have the need).
    You don't say what version of Oracle DBMS you are using, but I
    am using 8.1.7.3 on Solaris 7, and according to Oracle's
    "Oracle 8i Java Developer's Guide", there is no restriction
    (of-course, that depends on what you call a "restriction" :-)
    http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/oracle8i/doc_library/817_doc/java.817/a83728/03writ11.htm#1003094
    Hope this helps.
    Good Luck,

  • Creating report in java

    i m developing an application -- student information system-- and i want some way to create reports in java. can soebody help me out.. pls.......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    dheeraj.

    Of course this is a real big problem in java programming. There are lot of 3rd party tools for this . But if you look for a free solution ,We have a JFreeReport at
    http://www.jfreereport.org
    check this site for more information .
    But jfree report needs lot of coding and XML Codings.
    To get away from this Try IReport tools which is GUI based designing environment.

  • Is FOP the best way to create PDFs in java?

    hi,
    Is using FOP the best way to create PDFs in Java? I played with it for a while and it looks really cool.
    I think FOP is more flexible than iText since it uses XML and XSL to generate PDF files. In iText, you probably will have to hard code all the styles and layouts in java.
    Any other thoughts?

    We have a commercial alternative to FOP that might do the job - our Report Generator at http://big.faceless.org/products/report can take XML documents and convert them to PDF. Like FOP it uses CSS2, but instead of the XSL-FO tags it uses basically the same tags as HTML. There's a free trial download available so you can give it a try and see if it fits your needs.
